Jonathan is so friendly and knowledgeable! I was at a point with such back pain that I couldn’t do anything even walk without pain. My first session with him I walked out with so much improvement! It was similar results as a steroid injection (I’ve had multiple injections). We worked on strengthening, and he is willing to work with me even after moving off island! I don’t know what I’m going to do without seeing him in person! I highly recommend seeing him if you have back pain and want a natural way to help that and get your life back!

Highly recommend Jonathan! I came with a nagging leg injury that would flare up when surfing. I also had tweaked my back and that is what he specializes in. We did some strength training, some high intensity stuff and even some calisthenic movements which were fun to learn. If you just want training or to learn certain movements, go see him. And if you have things preventing you from doing things you enjoy, go see him. I am now surfing pain free and my back feels better than ever.

Im a registered nurse and have suffered a lot with back pain for the past 7 years. I went through a few programs with Jon and I’m so grateful to have found him. I’ve suffered from 2 herniated discs and Jon was able to put together a plan to get me back and mobile. Now I’m able to utilize what he taught me independently. After 13 years of seeing 14 healthcare professionals who could not give me a diagnosis, and after the lightheadedness involved w/ my condition worsened in November causing me to fall twice, I ended up in ER on December 26 where the docs guessed I had suffered a TIA and sent me home with medication. I was referred to four more doctors including two of physical therapy who ultimately made me feel even more dizzy! I first saw Jonathan at Strength in Motion of January 27. He stretched my limbs, fixed my arthritic neck, and always carefully avoided causing pain to my sensitive knees and hip. Six visits and eighteen days later, I stopped using the cane I had carried for years. My legs feel stronger and sturdier although I haven’t begun doing strengthening exercises yet. I feel like a ballerina when Jon stretches my leg joints! I don’t lie in bed awake for an hour or two in the middle of the night any more. I feel confident that Jon will, in his amazing wisdom, help me lose the excess weight that has cursed me for all of my life. I am 79 years old, so I’m very grateful to have found him before it is too late for him to help me enjoy a more comfortable life! He is a compassionate genius who reminds me of Leonardo da Vinci, artist, engineer, healer, creator, designer, changer of lives!

I am currently about 2/3 of the way through with my first 12-week program with Jonathan. I am absolutely blown away and 100% satisfied. Jonathan spends a great deal of time designing a program that is specific to each individual. He not only shows you exercises, but takes the time to explain what is happening to your body as you do those exercises. He also helps to craft a nutrition plan that is tailored to your own personal needs and lifestyle. Rather than promising quick and overnight miracles, Jon gets you to believe in the importance of long-term goals in order to ensure consistency and longevity in achieving and maintaining your health goals. Though not the cheapest, the quality of service you receive as a client is top tier. I also highly recommend the stretching services he offers as well. Truly life changing. I came in very wary of fitness and exercise in general, but in 1.5 months, this program has completely shifted my attitude and perspectives and has become so important to me. For now, I plan remain a client here for a long time to come!

Jonathan really lives up to his 5-star rating. Highly knowledgeable and invested in your fitness journey, Jonathan not only programs your workouts for you, he even helps you with tracking your macros for optimal results. I highly recommended adding the optional fascial stretch therapy to your personal training sessions, as it’s amazing for your flexibility and incredibly relaxing. Not to mention that it stops you from being sore the day after a tough workout. I work long hours at a stressful job, and the fascial stretch therapy really helps to work the knots out of my neck after a rough day at the office.

Jonathan’s approach to fitness is distinctly wholistic; he is focused on helping you achieve your goals safely and sustainably. And the best part is that his rates are extremely reasonable. For a price similar to personal training at a crowded corporate gym, you could instead have Jonathan train you at his well-equipped private fitness studio. If you are looking to make the change toward an all-around healthier lifestyle, then Jonathan is your go-to guy.

Jonathan has helped me so much since I found him over a year ago. I chose to contact him since he specializes in the back and very familiar with dealing with injuries. When I first walked into the gym he recommended to start with stretching. I was having chronic pain in my scapula/neck issues from long hours at a computer. I trusted his evaluation even though I wanted to jump into exercise and I'm glad I did. I went in a couple times per week to do this treatment and was finally able to start working out after a few weeks.

Coming to work out with Jonathan is amazing. He put together a program based on my body and injuries. Always checking to make sure I'm not making the injury worse doing a certain exercise while providing other options. I basically chose this gym for the following reasons: 1) Jonathan's background in the body and his attention to injuries. He continues to keep up his studies and build his equipment and program based on his innovative ideas. 2) His personality! He is so laid back and down to earth. So smart, funny, and is honestly interested in helping every single person where they are in this journey. 3) I have seen the improvement in my mobility and strength. His method works and he genuinely cares about his clients.

I actually drive across island since I didn't want to find another trainer after moving away from town. I don't trust working with anyone else and have seen proven results. Strength In Motion is so awesome!

I just did my first FST session with Jonathan. Basically I lay down on the massage table and he stretched my joints in a gentle yet progressive way.

As an avid golfer playing professionally, I’ve already noticed rotational improvement far beyond what I thought after only one session. I’ve gained 10 yards and can’t wait to keep a monitor after 10 or even 6 months of fst sessions with Jonathan.

Imagine doing 2 hours of stretching without having to do the work. Just let him do his thing and see the results instantly. Big believer can’t wait for more.

Got to send a huge thank you to Jon Owner of @jon_strength_in_motion ! For helping to put me back on track to loosing weight. See, 4 years ago I seriously hurt my back at a show and left it untreated. The choice was either surgery or constant pain meds. The shows and concerts we produce would physically wipe me out and the simplest workouts would be excruciating and over the years, I gained more weight then desired. My friend suggested I see Jon who specializes in stretch therapy and exercise techniques. Im just over two months in to our sessions averging twice a week. I can feel the range of motion coming back, back no longer aches, and I notice quicker recovery after long days on my feet! Now I can focus on loosing the weight!

Back pain? I recommend Jon 100% and fyi im not getting anything from this post. In fact, Jons not the cheapest, but his technique works!

What a guy.

For the past 2 years, I’ve been working toward the start of my Military career. Let me tell ya, I didn’t think that I’d feel so physically ready for military training.

Within the first couple of sessions with Jon, I realized very quickly how knowledgeable and passionate he was about fitness. He demonstrated every exercise thoroughly and watched to make sure I was doing it correctly. He also always asked where I felt the burn to make sure I was activating the correct muscle(s).

Jon is very creative and inventive, switching between exercises that work the same muscle, but are ultimately safer for his clients. He’s even gone as far as building his own belt-squat rack, to make squatting a safer exercise.

Something I hadn’t heard about before I started training, was FST or Fascial Stretch Therapy. I usually got it after my workouts. Trust me when I say that I was never sore after getting FST, no matter how hard I worked out the previous day. It was a game changer.

Jon is an incredibly hard worker, sometimes only giving himself a 30 minute break throughout the day. It was incredible to be there in the beginning and see his gym expand to what it is now, just 2 years later.

You can’t go wrong with Strength In Motion.

In my training sessions with Jonathan, safety has always been a top priority. He makes adjustments to my form and advises me on how to move correctly so that I am able to workout not until I reach my goals but to continue working out long term.

I really appreciate how Jonathan breaks down the science of an exercise or a specific movement. He thoroughly explains my program, or why a certain technique works and why another doesn’t. I have a full understanding of what I am doing and know the reasons why I am doing it rather than just going through the motions!!

Jonathan not only carries a great work ethic, but is one of the most patient and dedicated personal trainers I’ve come across. I have been around fitness/working out on my own for about 3-4 years but as time went on, I noticed that my muscle imbalances were holding me back from reaching my end goal.
