I highly recommend the open gym + classes combo membership at StrongHer to any girlie who wants to build confidence, get fit, and be apart of a positive community :) I learned so much in the classes and was able to apply what I learned to my open gym sessions. The open gym has great hours and has all the equipment that I needed to have a great workout! Was also never crowded and felt like a safe space to work on myself. 10/10 recommend!

I've been going to StrongHer Hawaii for a year now and it has been the best decision of my life. I used to spend $200 a year going to 24's and hardly went. Now I'm here spending $200 a month going to classes because I love it so much. This place is more than a safe space for women. It's a whole community. We train hard, we have fun, and we encourage each other to lift heavier and to do our best. You are your best investment, and I'm glad that StrongHer has the most amazing coaches and community. I love the group classes, the themed classes, the random challenges (bingo cards, etc.), the events that happen outside (hiking, etc.), and getting to know one another. It truly feels like family here. Thank you Joy and to all of the coaches/instructors (Kayla, Hailey, Natasha, Krstyn) for making this the best women's gym on Oahu!

I've been attending Strongher for a couple of months now, and it's been such a positive experience! What really sets this gym apart are the trainers - everyone has been incredibly helpful and encouraging. I primarily attend the strength classes, and there’s something truly amazing about the energy when a group of women comes together to motivate each other. The community is fantastic - everyone is respectful, supportive, and actually cleans up after themselves, which shows how much people care about the shared space. If you're looking for a gym with outstanding trainers and a supportive community atmosphere, I'd definitely recommend giving Strongher a try!

I cannot say enough good things about StrongHer and the owner/head coach Joy!!
I first met Joy back when she used to teach at UFC, and her high energy and goofiness really made her stand out from the other coaches. She had such an infectious enthusiasm and kind personality that I had absolutely had to leave my previous gym to come and follow her to StrongHer when she opened!
Her classes are always fun and high energy with a workout program that is very intentionally built. You always feel safe and supported in her classes, even if it’s the first time you’ve ever picked up a weight. You get one on one corrections but in an affordable group setting and Joy is one of the most knowledgeable trainers out there. If you’re lucky, you might even get to meet her doggy Kino :)
She’s created a such a fun and supportive community of girls and going to her classes is always the highlight of my day. I could literally be crying at work but I end my day happy and content after going to her gym. It’s the perfect addition to anyone’s wellness routine <3

I started going to StrongHer group classes around a year ago thinking I would only do a few classes. I was really nervous having never done strength training before but I came to love it. Joy has created a welcoming and inclusive environment that works for all levels of fitness. I feel more confident in the classes, the gym, and in myself.

WHY did it take me so long to try out StrongHer?! About a month in and I am obsessed! It has been such a refreshing and empowering place to train. It feels clean,safe, motivating, and supportive. StrongHer Hawaiʻi has truly brought positive change to my life. I've tried every group class (Strength, Sweat, Sculpt, and Stretch N Flow) and also done personal training, and each one has been a consistently great experience. The coaching is knowledgeable, encouraging, and genuinely attentive. The space is clean, the energy is welcoming, and the community is incredibly kind and supportive.
The gym is also very well-equipped. Whether you're building strength, improving flexibility, or just getting started, there’s everything you need, and it’s all organized and well-maintained. There’s also an open-gym option, along with fun and thoughtful community events.
Joy, in particular, has had such a meaningful impact on my experience here. I take her classes regularly and train with her one-on-one, and I’m constantly amazed by how she manages to remember where each of us is--what we’ve accomplished, what we’re working on, and what we’re capable of next. Even as the gym has grown, she continues to make it feel personal and empowering.
I’ve never been this consistent with working out before, and that says a lot. If you’re looking for a place that meets you where you are and helps you build from there, physically and mentally, I highly recommend StrongHer Hawaiʻi!

She offers various group classes for lifting & yoga - both are great! There are also open gym hours which I love. Prior to meeting with Joy, I was extremely overweight and had zero confidence. Whenever anyone asked me to workout with them I always declined because I was so self-conscious. I hired Joy for one on one classes to get stronger and learn how to lift weights properly. Worth every penny. I actually extended my time with her by double I was so happy with what we were doing. After an entire year with her one on one, I left stronger and much more confident. When my friends ask me to go to their classes now, I say yes! Joy has great group classes as well. Very inviting, very fun. Appreciate everything you've done for me Joy! Had a blissful month in HNL bc I got to go
to StrongHer a couple times a week w a mix of personal training and group classes. Joy is my favorite trainer EVER, she and everyone in class is sweet, nice, encouraging, and fun. Her gym is intimate & clean with cute vibes and music!!! It’s uncouth to gatekeep and I care deeply about Joy and her success so here’s a 10/10 A+++!! When I got home from my trip, the first friend I saw hugged me and commented (not knowing about my training) that I felt BUFF! RESULTS!!!

Before starting my journey at StrongHer, I would say that I had a moderate amount of experience in weightlifting. At some point, I stagnated and felt like I lost my passion for fitness. I bounced around from gym to gym hoping to find a place and community I genuinely liked. I can wholeheartedly say that I finally found that place at StrongHer. Joy (Owner), Kayla (Strength coach), Hailey (Strength coach), and Amanda (Sculpt instructor), are all amazing and are so proficient at sharing their valuable knowledge and experience. Joy is very good at breaking down compound movements and exercises that might seem intimidating to beginners (but also has so many pro tips and cues for even experienced lifters!). She stresses the importance of preventing injury and recovery, so every workout will involve a great deal of stretching. Her cross-training and experience in different fields, particularly powerlifting and yoga, really shine during workouts. Kayla is also very knowledgeable not only in weight training, but overall health and wellness (I never really paid attention to the benefits of gut health or supplements outside of protein and creatine until I met her). All in all, if you’re thinking about trying out StrongHer, do yourself a favor and go for it!

This gym is an absolute gem in the Kaka’ako area! Strongher Hawaii transforms the typical “fitness gym” into a supportive, empowering community for us Women to challenge ourselves, lift heavy, and improve our form without any intimidation or judgement. I’ve taken all of their classes: Strength (Weight training), Sculpt (Yoga Sculpt) and Sweat(HIIT) and ALL are a great workout. With the variety of classes, I can ensure I’m balancing strength, cardio and flexibility into my workout routine. They also have Open Gym, Personal Training, and fun community events for the girlies :)

I can’t recommend StrongHER Hawaii enough! This all-female gym is such a welcoming space with immaculate vibes all around. The trainer, Joy, is truly a joy - her energy and positivity make every workout feel like a fun challenge rather than a chore. The group classes are capped at 14, which is the perfect balance between a supportive group environment and personalized attention. Joy always helps with form and adjustments, making sure everyone feels confident and safe while also pushing their limits. The program changes each month and builds on the previous month’s workouts, which keeps things exciting and progressive. She’s incredibly empowering and has fostered an amazing community where women of all fitness levels come together to lift each other up. This review is from my first two classes with Joy. I wish I could leave a review on Google for each class I’ve taken from Joy because I would leave 5 stars each time!
• After first class:
“Felt great entering the gym/class, during the class, and after class! It was a pleasure meeting Joy and working with her and all the strong women in class.
Joy stayed cheerful all throughout class even while we were dying at the end of the workout (circuit time!). She said to throw the ball as if we're mad at her for making us do this, but you honestly can't get or feel mad at her! She got us putting in work (and she's just so cheerful and smiley). l appreciate the positive affirmations throughout class. They work well for me compared to being yelled at aggressively or scolded (which makes me irritated and want to leave), so if I had to choose between some kind of vocal motivation throughout workouts, I prefer the positive affirmations. I normally prefer to workout on my own, but I felt like I really needed to find and be a part of a fitness community for support these days, as l've been in a freeze response lately. I've been having a hard time bringing myself to go back outside, whether it's outdoors or at the gym, to workout. But for some reason, I felt pulled to finally try Joy's class and I'm glad I did today because today was upper body (with a tiny mix of everything) and l absolutely love upper body, so it felt meant to be. Also, l'm a sucker for nice and / or cute marketing & design, and I love Joy's website and social media - it's got a great balance, just like her and her class [es]. Lastly, although I was focused on myself throughout the exercises, all the women beside me and in the room/gym motivated me to push. We barely spoke with each other (we high-fived and praised each other though) since we're focused on our exercises, but I could feel their drive and it empowered me. I'll definitely be back! I hope to be back soon and more frequently :) I really enjoy getting in a good workout! You get what you put in!

“Killer workout. Legs were quaking. Now they're spaghetti. Love that Joy incorporates warm-ups and cool-downs — so important & vital for our health and our bodies! It feels so good, especially if you already have quite a sore body all the time and when we're all aging. I am not a leg day girl - I absolutely loathe them and would rather do upper body, but it was good to get my a** beat in this class. As soon as Joy did a demo for one of the exercises, I knew I was going to be dying
But at the same time, I knew l was going to like it because I like challenging myself and dying (not literally), but I guess, just suffering while exercising and getting them gains. Any kind of movement, everyday, is great for the body! Also love how she's still the same friendly, sweet, exciting, encouraging, knowledgeable and skillful coach/ trainer and that she always wants to take a photo with each class. She remembered my appearance and my name even though it was only my second time to her class and I haven't been in a few/several weeks. She's very personable and approachable, and I love her balanced go getter attitude, as well as her jokes. She's very patient and speaks to everyone in a kind manner, never degrading or demeaning at all.
Everyone needs a Joy as their coach/trainer - everyone needs a Joy in their life! Will be back again to continue my suffering. It's worth it! If you need some kind of way to get your discipline and/or motivation moving again, get in her classes! You'll feel better afterwards! I took Joy’s 6 week class and it was amazing! She starts every class with a word of the day or focus of the day and it is so motivating and inspiring. She is very energetic as well as polite and helpful. You can tell she is passionate and very well educated in her profession. She never made me feel uncomfortable or embarrassed any time I couldn’t do a certain workout. She sets a very positive and comfortable space for each and every one of her students and that’s what I loved about her the most! I’ve also taken 1 on 1 training sessions with her and it was the best experience I’ve ever had when it comes to weight training. She inspired me to get into power lifting! I was looking for a trainer who understood the mechanics to lifting. I didn’t want that “no pain, no gain” kind of vibe. I have trust issues since I herniated my back and getting back into lifting was a struggle. No one understands the pain and suffering of a herniated back unless they have personally experienced it. I love Joy’s cheerful, outgoing, and positive personality. She gives me all of her attention when I’m lifting 1 on 1. She coaches me through the movements and helps me understand the mind and body movements. This was a huge safety concern of mine but Joy reassured me that I’m in good hands. If you are looking for someone who will help you understand your mind to muscle connection, safety, proper techniques, and compassion towards your goals, Joy is your person!!! Highly recommend Joy!! Joy is amazing!!! I started working with her because I had a goal of getting stronger. She helped me to dial in my bench, squat and deadlift technique and we worked our way up to my 1 rep max for each lift. I hit PRs that I never thought I could and as a result I have gained sooo much confidence in the gym. I highly recommend working with Joy if you’re interested in weight lifting but unsure where to start. Her energy is infectious and she makes exercise FUN! I started working with Joy at the beginning of this year and she has been such a crucial part of my fitness journey! At the end of 2022, I unfortunately hurt my back and needed a way to get back into lifting. I figured it'd be best to work with a coach who could teach me proper technique and form... and let me tell you, Joy went ABOVE AND BEYOND! She has been so attentive to my body's natural needs, understanding in where I'm at mentally/emotionally/physically, and meticulous in our 1:1 meetings and messages. She helped me progress in my squat, bench, and deadlift forms and has made me feel more confident in myself and my lifts. She's an inspiration and I absolutely loved our coach/client dynamic. Joy is an amazing coach. She will make sure your form is on point before letting you lift heavier. She does have a powerlifting background so form, breathing techniques, and core stability is emphasized. If you are a newbie and want to make sure you are lifting correctly she is one to see.
