I had never heard of Lagree before my bestie invited me to a class a couple of weeks ago. And I’m not gonna lie—I totally underestimated it. When they said “low impact,” I assumed it would be a breeze. Spoiler: it was anything but easy… in the best way! In just 45 minutes, you get a full-body, high-intensity strength workout unlike anything you’ve ever done. By my third class, I already felt stronger and noticed real changes in my body. Even when I’m at the gym now, I can feel the difference—Lagree has made me even more powerful in my strength training. Molly & her team are amazing instructions! The class is positive and it’s uplifting. I walk out of my Lagree class feeling so good from the inside out. If you’re on the fence on trying Lagree, I want to encourage you to take the first step this might be the workout that will change your life!

I had the pleasure of attending YTT with Molly. She is knowledgeable, patient, straight forward, funny, real and an absolute joy of a teacher to have. She has made this experience so much more wonderful. I was Leary at first but I look forward to our calls and am saddened to see them end. If you’re looking for a true teacher you will find that in Molly.

Lagree is incredible. I’m into my second month of a weekly practice and I'm hooked. Combining Lagree with my barre and pilates classes has produced a noticeable increase in stamina and strength. I’m really loving Tessa’s classes, she is such a motivating force. Thanks Molly for bringing Lagree to Yoga Centered!

I get to teach and practice in studios all over the world, and what I love about Yoga Centered is that it feels like home. It’s not pretentious, and the historic room is bright and spacious. I can come here and be introverted, cheeky, bubbly or emotional, and it all feels ok here. We’re here to practice and be with whatever comes up. The teachers are highly trained, diverse, and compassionate for all bodies. The students are friendly, all ages, and committed to lifelong wellness. I’m grateful to be a part of this community.

Yoga centered has a great vibe to it. It’s very clean and welcoming. Molly Masaoka is a wonderful teacher who takes the time to explain the poses and breath work in a way that is easy to understand and keeps you in the present moment. I would highly recommend all of her classes including Lagree which is a full body workout that really challenges you in a way that feels good.

Yoga Centered is a lovely studio right next to Hilo Bay front and the downtown shops and restaurants. It is clean and well ventilated and has a soothing atmosphere. Molly Masaoka’s yoga classes are excellent with focus on placement of each muscle group. Great cues! The new Lagree classes will kick your butt for sure. It took me a week to recover but totally worth it. I was shaking like a leaf. Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been learning yoga with Molly for the past eight weeks, and she’s truly an exceptional teacher. From day one, she encouraged me to practice teach, which really helped build my confidence. Her deep understanding of the body and anatomy shines through in every session—her cueing is precise, and her language is both inspiring and easy to follow.

Even though I sometimes struggle with words, Molly always made me feel comfortable, motivated, and capable. Every class with her was engaging and stimulating—there wasn’t a single mundane moment. I felt excited to learn each time we connected. I’m so grateful for her guidance and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, supportive, and inspiring yoga teacher.

Lagree has made such an impact in my life! I am amazed at how fast I started increasing my core and whole body strength. This happened after just 5 classes. I am now 12 classes in and have gained 5 pounds, which is much needed for me since I struggle to keep weight on. It feels challenging when doing it but I experience a quick recovery. The instructors are great at helping you to modify when needed until you get stronger. I highly recommend it for just about everyone!

Okay, I am an extra hefty middle-aged woman...and I absolutely felt my muscles getting stronger during my laGREY class on Monday morning (indicator is a slow shake in musculature.) 30 minutes for class was just the right length of time before I melted into a puddle on the floor. But afterward, I felt like I frontloaded my workout and didn't have to worry about it the rest of the day. PERFECT for me.

EVERYONE should come here ASAP to practice yoga! Molly (owner) is very knowledgeable and provides expert cuing for a person at any level to advance their practice. The classes are each wonderful and accessible with a wide variety of offerings. Each class is beautifully sequenced with plenty of options for Asana modifications as well as offerings for safe advancements into postures. There are flexible pricing options like one time drop in, 5 or 10 class pass, unlimited 10 day intro for folks new to Yoga Centered, and a couple unlimited options. You can easily book a class online. The teachers are SO well informed and friendly. The vibe of the place is very open and welcoming, not a trace of snooty or elitist can be found. Do not hesitate to come to a yoga class here - perfect for any person, any age, any level!

Further thoughts:
*This is one of the best places with the best instructors I have encountered after attending yoga classes for over a decade around the world.* As a traveler, I have often had a hard time finding a true Yoga shala where space is held for yoga philosophy discussion, education, and practice. Certainly the asanas (poses) are important, but there are seven other limbs of yoga to consider - the instructors here are extensively knowledgeable and are safe, experienced teachers. Yoga Centered is truly a special space with a beautiful alter to harbor connecting mind, body, and spirit - this is yoga! Thank you to Molly and all the team for holding this lovely space and sharing communal yoga practice at such a high level. I look forward to practicing together for months to come!

After injuring my knee, I struggled to find a workout that was both safe and effective. That changed when I discovered Lagree at Yoga Centered in Hilo. I have participated in 6 Lagree sessions. The last session,I was experiencing deep muscles tremors that happen each session. Finding humor in the experience, I shared aloud “ I’d like to coin this as legit lagitters” The sessions can feel quite serious as I focus on the details of alignment and self talk myself through the challenges. It all contributes to an over all empowerment and strengthening from the inside out. The experience for me feels like a combination of weight training, Tai chi, and dance techniques on a sled with resistant springs. I’m hooked. I say go for it!

I just finished my 200 TT with Molly as one of my teachers. Molly is hands down one of the best teachers I have ever learned from. She wants her students to thrive—to feel confident in our abilities, to feel empowered to move our bodies in ways we did not think possible, and to learn all the foundational components of Yoga. Anyone who learns from Molly will see how she has dedicated her life to Yoga. She's a fountain of knowledge, she speaks so creatively in her classes, and she's so generous to share her wisdom with us all.

Her classes are creative, fun, healing and mostly--transformative. I have had some wildly powerful experiences in her classes, and I'm just so grateful to call her my yoga teacher! I cannot wait to practice in her Hilo studio! <3 THANK YOU MOLLY!

I can’t say enough great things about Soma Yoga Institute and my amazing teacher, Molly. I completed my training online, and while I was nervous about that at first, their program is so thoughtfully designed that it truly works—and it works well. Molly is an incredible facilitator who made the virtual space feel welcoming, connected, and supportive from day one.

She’s not only strong, smart, and funny, but also deeply skilled at creating a safe environment where students feel encouraged to be themselves while learning and growing with confidence. Her teaching is clear, grounded, and inspiring.

I especially appreciated the focus on proper alignment and learning how to sequence safely and creatively—skills I now feel confident bringing into my own teaching. This training has been a life-changing experience for me and exactly what I was hoping for. I’m incredibly grateful to Soma Yoga Institute and to Molly for guiding me on this path.

“As someone with a lot of joint pain, and especially in my knees to the point where i can’t really do lunges or squats comfortably I was shocked at how good the lagree class felt. yes, it was extremely challenging and kicked my a$$ but, my knees didn’t hurt and in fact using the resistance from the microformers made me feel safe and stable in my squats and lunges. “So most of you know that I’m not as young as I wish I was but I am in pretty good shape because I work at being active. I love yoga. I credit it with literally saving my life but recently I added human reformer palates with the elastic rope BUT then LAGREE appeared in our studio at Yoga Centered. This sleek little apparatus kicks my butt but it’s a much firmer butt after every session! Not to be crass but to share one of the nuggets I’ve learned about aging is the importance of body strength in day to day life … such as getting up and down from the common toilet. Catching one’s self when you stumble on our local sidewalks, slip in a rain puddle.” Thank you Yoga Centered and it’s Ohana! Please join me at Lagree!

I took a Lagree class. I was nervous to book it at first because I’m not the most in shape person. My friends talked me in to going and I’m happy I did. The instructor made me feel comfortable and included. She offered alternative poses for those of us who needed them. The class was intense in the best way. I cannot recommend Yoga Centered enough!! As an overweight woman in her 50’s with Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis (and a bunch of other things out of whack), I did not think yoga was for me.

How was I, with my snap-crackle-and-pop knees and stiff, painful joints going to get up and down on a yoga mat, much less bend and twist myself into all those positions? Frankly, I worried that I was I going to feel judged or be unwelcome because I don’t fit into what a yogi is “supposed” to be.

At Yoga Centered I have been met with nothing but non-judgment, kindness and encouragement.

I started off taking Therapeutic yoga classes and used a chair because it was hard to do floor work and I needed support getting up and down. I was shown how to make adjustments and what props to use so I could get the full benefit of each shape and position according to my body’s needs.

Little by little I improved. Before I knew it, I was feeling stronger and taking a Vinyasa class and another and another. Now you will find me there practicing almost everyday. And just this week I got fully into a Goddess Squat and a Toe Stance!! I let out a scream of, “I did it!” in the middle of class. Me, with my arthritic hips and knees and toes!! Miracles.

I am doing things that this time last year I thought were impossible for my body. Yoga has changed so much for me and I am so grateful to have found this school and these amazing teachers.

Molly, the owner, is truly a master yogi. She has such a depth of knowledge that she infuses into every class she teaches. You learn more than just positions for your body. You learn what yoga means for your mind, body, spirit, community and the world.

The other teachers at the school each have their own unique brilliance, too. I adore them all.

And my fellow students are welcoming, supportive, funny and kind. These qualities are woven into the very fabric of this yoga school.

Yoga is for every BODY and every body is welcomed at Yoga Centered. I hope to see you there!!

Yoga Centered Hilo: A Haven for Safe and Informed Yoga Practice

I have been a dedicated attendee at Yoga Centered Hilo for almost a year now, and my experience has been nothing short of transformative. Molly, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable about anatomy, physiology, and how the body works. Her expertise ensures that we perform each pose correctly, minimizing the risk of injury. She consistently emphasizes the importance of honoring our bodies by making proper modifications and adjustments to suit our individual needs. Molly is also exceptional at giving clear instructions during class, making it easy to follow along and understand each movement and pose. Her guidance is precise and supportive, creating an environment where everyone feels confident and safe. Initially, my physical therapist was concerned about me practicing yoga due to potential injury risks. However, once they learned that I was attending classes at Yoga Centered, especially with Molly, their worries were put to rest. They recognized the quality of instruction and the safe environment provided at this studio. Yoga Centered is particularly excellent for core and pelvic floor strengthening. The benefits I've experienced in these areas have been significant and noticeable. The other teachers, including substitute instructors, are also highly knowledgeable and experienced, maintaining the studio's high standards. In addition to yoga, I started doing barre classes at Yoga Centered several months ago, and I absolutely love them. The barre and other fitness classes offered are fantastic, adding variety to my workout routine and enhancing my overall fitness. I am genuinely thrilled to have found such a safe and supportive space to practice yoga and fitness. Sharing Molly's passion for yoga and experiencing her positive energy has been a blessing. Yoga Centered Hilo is a true gem in our community, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a safe, informed, and enriching yoga and fitness practice.

Yoga Centered is the real deal, and the energy there is always excellent! Molly is an amazing teacher, and even though I am new to classes I am easily able to follow her cues without even looking, because she will verbally articulate every movement description smoothly so you know what to do next, as well as remind you where to focus so you do it properly and with best results. I also have been absolutely LOVING the Barre classes! I have been wanting to try one for almost 10 years and finally went. They are low impact, perfect for my whiplash injury and focus on building core/legs/glutes which I feel is super important as I age. The teachers I have encountered there so far are all such great quality and many have decades of experience.

Me and a friend of mine were visiting Hilo for a retreat and ended up going on our last day for Molly's class. She is the owner and a phenomenal teacher! Her flow practice was so amazing and the pace was incredible and really invited everyone to approach the poses with freedom to explore their abilities. Highly highly recommend if you are visiting and non need for some enriching yoga!

I like yoga centered easy online schedule and to sign up. Classes are for all levels. I love how I feel coming out of yoga centered class…leaving me wanting to come back. The location is great and easy with plenty of parking downtown Hilo… you can also get something to eat/drink close by after!

Love Yoga Centered! They have a beautiful space in downtown Hilo on Waianuenue St. they are now located on the 2nd level. Large spacious area accented with beautiful plants and artwork. My favorites are restorative Yoga with Kat, and also Barre with Lauren! Restorative is great for calming the mind and body after a long day. Barre is a great pick me up in the middle of your day. Leave feeling strong and motivated. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet the owner, Molly. What a bright light, and fun spirited person. She is a seriously talented yogi, and offers so much support on and off the mat!

Great yoga studio for travelers!

Easy to find in downtown Hilo. I did a morning flow class with Pascale and she was amazing and inspiring both physically and spiritually. Slow warmup builds to a fast paced multi pose series that will get you sweaty.

The perfect way to start the day!

This is how a yoga studio should be. Right downtown, easy to park, and once you are inside, there are plenty of windows, fans and fresh air. Great boutique for Manduka mats (like no other), various props and great quality clothing and jewelry. Innovative, awesome teachers. Molly, Maiko, Amanda, Shannon, Gary, Nyssa, Colleen, Hannah, Catherine... I can't say enough about how kind, attentive, and sweet you have been to me, my family, and the community of Hilo. I don't know what we would do without you. Our home away from home. Just Go Here. Mahalo.
