Having four surgeries in three years really set me back both physically and mentally. After trying to get back into shape for two years unsuccessfully, I finally decided that I needed the accountability and education that personal training offers. I have been with Body Basics for 6 months now and I can say I feel stronger than I ever have even when I was running half marathons and in top shape. Jolene has been an amazing trainer taking me from barely able to lift much weight at all to now almost having me doing full on pull-ups. If you become a client at Body Basics, you will be joining not only a gym but a community. When you walk in, you are greeted with smiles and everyone knowing your name. I highly recommend the investment in yourself. This is definitely something I won’t regret!

I've been a Body Basics client for nearly two years, and it has been a life-changing experience. The benefits of personal training likely go without saying, but Body Basics does a few things differently, in my opinion. First, they take great care in matching trainers to their clients to ensure they "click" — that relationship truly sets the stage for meeting goals and creating a healthy lifestyle. Next, they are meticulous in terms of when and how their space is used. As a client, you never feel crowded or slowed down. Finally, the staff is truly unbeatable. Although I've been with the same trainer since I started at Body Basics, I feel close to many of the individuals who work (and work out) there. I trust my health with any of them.

I have been with Body Basics for over a year and a half and have worked with several of the female trainers and I love it. I started working out with my trainer (now Danika who I adore) after a bad back injury. I knew if I was to age well I needed to do this for myself. It was the best decision I ever made. I love all the smiling faces when I walk in and the fact that I don’t hate or feel intimidate by working out anymore. It’s been life changing. I've lifted off and on over the years, sometimes with personal trainers and sometimes without. I found the team at Body Basics in January of 2023, and they are hands down the best from nutrition coaching with James to personal training with Danika, and all of the support in between. I'm not only stronger, but I've developed healthier sustainable exercise and nutrition habits that I use on a daily basis. Truly, I cannot recommend these folks enough.

I’ve always struggled with maintaining an exercise routine and needed the accountability that personal training offers, and a friend recommended Body Basics. I finally signed up and have been really happy with my experience. I came to Body Basics already strong, but after a year with Nathan Huey, not only did I increase my capacity to push and pull more weight, Nathan fine-tuned my form, worked my small and medium muscle groups for better posture and function, and made me mindful of my body-mind connection. Body Basics is a magical place. It’s part Cheers, because when you walk in everyone knows your name and welcomes you warmly. I am a person who has anxiety in gym environments, and BB blows that out of the water. It is a wonderfully comfortable place to be. My trainer, Nate, is highly aligned with my analytical brain and tailors my workouts so I understand how what I’m doing affects my body. My health coach, Katie, is basically psychic with her ability to read what’s happening in my world and advise me as to how to keep myself centered and my nutrition balanced. As someone who was increasingly despondent and lost with their health goals, finding Body Basics has been a revelation that got me back on track to be a better me in all aspects. 20/10, would recommend. 👍

My trainer Katie Carpenter at Body Basics is the most incredible trainer. I have been training with a personal trainer for over 18 years. She is extremely knowledgeable about various forms of training, she is also extremely grounded and cares for each of her clients. She knows when to push you and when to pull back based on your energy level and stress that day. Her attention to details in showing you the proper way to complete each exercise helps to achieve your goals but more importantly helps eliminate injuries which means a lot as I age. I highly recommend Body Basics and Katie Carpenter.

There are so many gyms, home gym equipment, workout technologies, and general access to fitness in the market today but there is no substitute for quality, trainer led instruction. My time is valuable to me which is why I choose Body Basics for focused training on a regular schedule. James and Christine Kling are well educated proprietors who hired licensed and experienced trainers. Melissa McPherson is helping me build strength but especially helping me prevent injury and even rehab injuries sustained in other activities outside of the gym. I’ve been a Body Basics client since June of 2004. There is a program and a trainer for you no matter your current fitness level.

Body Basics is a multi-purpose physical fitness facility featuring a broad array of equipment and highly experienced staff. Focus on overall body strength and muscle flexibility was the primary reason for my joining their program. I was not disappointed and have noticed a reduction in the lower back pain that took me there in the first place. I have enjoyed working with my personal trainer and appreciate her friendliness, professional approach and patience while working with me on each individual exercise.

I started working with Christine in October 2019 after specifically running a search for personal trainer + autoimmune + Boise. She truly understands adrenal fatigue and how to adapt my training program so that I still get a solid workout without overtaxing my adrenals. I appreciate that she is comfortable with me checking in with her frequently to update her on how I'm feeling and cheers my successes. It's been a delight working with Christine, even though I now do my workouts virtually due to the pandemic. The bonus to doing the virtual sessions is that I now know that no matter where I am in the country, I can continue to train with Christine. We moved here a year ago and needed to find a great workout center. James, the owner with his wife Christine, did an assessment and set me up with my trainer Katie. They customized workouts, accommodated notable health issues and continue to modify! Katie is amazing and patient and keeps my workouts interesting and flexible. They strictly adhere to Covid protocol if you are concerned (I have a compromised immune system and I'm comfortable). They also did my workouts via FaceTime during covid and will do that if you prefer.
This is a very comfortable environment-not like the super size workout centers. Just call to set up a tour. See ya there!!

I've been training here for over a year now. I first started with Body Basics when I was 3 months postpartum and I had fairly moderate Diastasis Recti. My trainer was very knowledgeable and helpful right from the start. She helped make sure my movements were keeping me safe AND progressing my abilities. All the training plans are individualized too so I was able to get the personalized attention I needed in order to hit my goals without causing injury. Since healing my DR I have worked with other trainers too and they have all been great. Everyone is super knowledgeable and friendly and the environment is very welcoming and vibrant. I have had other trainers at other gyms before that just focused on pushing a tough workout even if I really couldn't handle the weight or didn't have the correct form. It's not like that at Body Basics. Here, I definitely get a tough workout every time, but it's done correctly and safely. I would highly recommend Body Basics to anyone!!

Besides being a safe environment, their trainers are very knowledgeable and caring. I’ve reached physical goals and look genuinely forward to my workouts! I started training at Body Basics about 18 months ago. Since then, I've worked with trainers who listened to my interests and responded with training which is complimentary to my other interests like golf, running, and recently, boxing! My trainer also had to adapt to my broken foot, adjusting my training so I could continue almost seamlessly. BB has a great staff, super friendly, and the clientele I've come to know make it fun. I started working out with the trainers at Body Basics about 6 months ago, and from day one, I have been 100% satisfied with my decision to start training there. Body Basics provides a personalized workout experience based on your goals and specific needs. You can choose to workout in-person, and they offer virtual training sessions as well. The facilities are spotless, and with the current COVID situation, they are limiting the number of people allowed in the gym during each training session plus wiping down equipment at regular intervals. I highly recommend this personal training facility!

I tore my ACL about nine years ago playing tennis. After surgery I joined Body Basics and worked with my trainer on strength training and cardio. I really like the attention of the individual trainer. She knows me well and what my body needs when I have different things going on! I began training at Body Basics 3 months ago, after doing a lot of research about personal trainers in Boise. Having previously been a happy client of a personal trainer at another small gym in Boise, I have a good comparison to make. As a physician in town, I also care especially about the credentialing and expertise of a facility and its trainers. James, Christine and their team of very well-trained and well-qualified staff have been a perfect fit for me. I feel educated, motivated, challenged, and yet not intimidated. I have some prior sports-related injuries that have plagued me over the years. At Body Basics, I have made real progress in strength, flexibility, balance, and overall fitness that's already helping me with the sports and activities I enjoy. This is by far the best experience I’ve ever had in a gym. Thanks!

My goals are to increase bone density, reduce body fat, and increase muscle mass. Also, being in my mid-60's, strength training and energy are vital. SUCCESS! After a few short months at Body Basics I've gained .2% bone density, and increased muscle mass by 5 lbs while also reducing body fat! Never too old to begin strength training!!! I am currently training with James Kling at Body Basics. James has an FMS (Functional Management Specialist) certification which is why I chose to work with him. He is helping me rehabilitate my back and knee from prior injuries and a knee surgery. I have trained with many Personal Trainers over the last 15 years and I would have to say that James is one of the best! He is helping me work on proper form, balance and building back strength. I love working with him because he ignores my whining and encourages me to do my best and tells me that I CAN. :)
I have heard nothing but positive things about James and the other Trainers at Body Basics. James, Christine, Joy, Leah and Katie are all highly qualified (and certified) trainers that truly seem to care about helping their clients reach their goals. Also, the atmosphere at Body Basics is great. Everyone is super nice and you will see people of all ages and fitness levels training there. They also have boot camp classes if you are looking to work out in a group setting.
I would highly recommend Body Basics to anyone that is looking for a customized training program, whether you are looking to lose weight, tone-up, gain strength or rehabilitate.

I have been working with Body Basics for about three years doing a mix of mobility classes and boot camps in my quest to become faster and better in a competition called Train to Hunt (a mix of cross-fit and bowhunting.) I am not getting younger, but I am getting stronger and I am fending off injuries that have been nagging at me for years. I rely heavily on Leah and James for this training, though my exchanges with all the trainers have been great. Their knowledge about fitness, recovery/rehab and lifestyle (ie eating) is fantastic.

Body Basic has help me feel better about how the way I feel and take on the each day. Each trainer there has there own plan and way of teaching for each individual customer. I find this very important for i feel like I can get a personal connection with the trainer and not be afraid to say something when I feel uncomfortable doing a certian exercise. I have been a customer of Body Basics for over two years. After two surgeries on my spine in 2012, my orthopedic surgeon recommended that I start working with a personal trainer twice a week, and he mentioned that he had been working with a personal trainer at Body Basics for some time. I decided to give it a try, and I believe that was one of the best decisions that I have ever made regarding my health.
The personal trainers at Body Basic are extremely knowledgeable and conscientious. In the two years plus that I have been training at Body Basics, there has been zero turnover in employment. I am working today with the same trainer that I started with in 2012. On the few occasions when she was not working, I have worked with a couple of different trainers. They are all excellent. They closely monitor my performance of the exercises to make sure that I am doing them properly so there is no chance of me hurting myself by getting into incorrect positions. They have such a large number of exercises so I never get bored, and I feel like I am working on every muscle in my body. I had never experienced this extensive kind of exercise program, so I believe this is the best overall condition that I have ever achieved.
The other thing that I am so impressed about at Body Basics is the quality and cleanliness of the facility itself. I was familiar with the various types of free weights and exercise machines that we use, but there are also many pieces of equipment that I had never heard of to assist you in exercising all of your muscles.
The management and staff obviously work very hard to keep everything spotless and in good working order. Everything is very organized. I should also mention that this facility is so well equipped that you never have to wait on someone else to get finished with a piece of equipment.
If you are looking for a first class facility with highly qualified and motivated staff to oversee your exercise program on a personal level, I would highly recommend that you take a look at Body Basics before making a decision.
