I’ve had the pleasure of working with Phil two times. The first was back in Chicago when he trained me Thor two years. He whipped me into shape in no time but not without a lot of balks on my end and words of encouragement on his. When I needed a trainer over the last few months, I reached out to him wanting to be back with the only person I knew who could work their magic. And has he ever! While he’s in Idaho and I’m in Florida, he can still give me the best workouts I can find. We have fun and I get results. He’ll be my forever trainer. Thanks Phil!

I am not one to write reviews but I have to let Boise know how amazing Coach Phil is. I think the perfect name for him is Phenomenal Phil! He has changed my life! I am 53 and the strongest I've ever been and I've only worked out with him for 3 months twice a week. The strength and mobility I have gained is mind blowing to me. I have recommended him to all my friends. He is knowledgeable, encouraging, persistent, professional and has a great personality. I have never been comfortable in a gym until I started working out with Phil. I look forward to every workout! Just go talk to him and I guarantee you'll want him as your personal trainer! I’m in my 70’s and I have been going to Phil for 6 months- lost 20 lbs., gained muscle mass and have better balance! He always keeps me safe and has work-arounds if I need it. Phil is an experienced, extremely qualified, hard working personal trainer. He has the ability to stay positive and push you to work hard at the same time. Diet and nutrition are also taken seriously with is super helpful and great for accountability as well.

I’ve been working out with Phil at Breakthrough 4-5 times per week for about 8 months and am still seeing great progress.

At 40 I’m feeling just as strong and limber as I did after basic training in my 20’s. I started back into working out to help with recovery from a very serious accident. I’ve noticed I don’t feel the pains I used to and I’m much more mobile and flexible.

I'm actually writing this review on behalf of my wife. I was a little skeptical about personal training for her because she had several health issues which lead to her weight gain, and I didn't think a personal trainer was the best option. She insisted that she try to do something to get better so we decided to do it. After only 4 months of working with Phil she has lost 35 pounds, and I haven’t seen her this happy in years.

She has more energy, sleeps better and now she can play with the kids without being short of breath. I also have no idea how he did it, but she had very limited mobility in her left shoulder and now her shoulder has much better range of motion. I can't begin to express my gratitude for Phil, and I'm so motivated I'm going to start working with him in the new year. 5 stars just isn't enough for what he has done for our family.

I have been working on-line with Coach Phil for 3 months now and it has been amazing!
I live in California, am 70 years old, and have NEVER in my life done anything like this! I was always a dancer, swimmer, yoga gal, and hated getting in my car to go to a gym and always dropped after a few sessions. What I love is that I don't have to travel and can do this from the comfort of my own home, with Coach Phil calling me on FaceTime on our computers. He had me purchase minimal equipment ... weights, bands, TRX, etc, so I am all set up! I have some issues as I get older, arthritis, torn meniscus, carpel tunnel, but Coach is mindful of all that and doesn't ever push me. He adjusts the program to me! And also, he introduces new exercises every session so you never get bored with routine. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself as far as taking care of my body! My mind and soul were doing alright, but not my body ! You can start new things as a septuagenarian!

Absolutely five stars! I can't say enough good things about Coach Phil! As someone who started at a near-beginner level and was insecure about my abilities and strength, I was really nervous to start training. From the very beginning, I felt supported and understood.

Coach Phil is incredibly knowledgeable and patient - always walking me through each exercise step-by-step and making sure I fully understand before moving on. I have never once felt rushed or discouraged, even when I needed things re-explained or demonstrated again.

Coach Phil has been able to push me beyond what I thought I was capable of, while always being kind and gentle with corrections when I was doing something wrong. Thanks to his expertise and ability to gently encourage, I’m gaining confidence in myself and my abilities.

WE ARE LOVING PHILL'S VIRTUAL TRAINING.
For over 20 years my husband and I have done personal training in various gyms. Our problem is that we have homes in two different cities, so it gets difficult to maintain consistency. Several months ago we met Phill in Boise and although we don't live there, we began twice a virtual training with him. Phill's training has far exceeded our expectations. We actually feel that we are getting more from our virtual training sessions than the in-person training we had traditionally done. We are seeing great results!

Phil has been so patient with taking on training both me(21yrs) and my grandma(70yrs). I am new with personal training and this has been just an amazing experience and journey. Phil at Breakthrough Personal Training is amazing! You have the option to work with him at his gym or he will come to your home. He crafts my workout routines specifically for my body type and goals while keeping me engaged and challenged! He also pays attention to form and if anything starts hurting we immediately stop. I came into Breakthrough old, fat, out of shape and ugly with several physical problems. After only a few weeks of working with my trainer, Phil and his paying special attention to my broken up, arthritic bones, and breathing problems. Hands down the best decision that I have ever made. I only wish I would have done it sooner. Phill is great if I could give him more than five stars I would. I signed up for 20 sessions at first, by the end of those sessions I had to buy more new clothes for work, and to work out in. I have gone down 2 belt spots, I sleep better, I feel stronger, my womanhood is back on track and I’m not losing so much hair in my brush. My sugar cravings are gone, I don’t desire to go out to eat anymore because it’s just too heavy. My lower back pain has improved and I can do exercises I haven’t been able to do since my first pregnancy. I needed the accountability of having a trainer. I needed someone who could fit into my business calendar. When I read Phill’s other reviews, I told myself “This is it. This is the guy”. He is knowledgeable and versatile. He teaches new habits that are easy to implement. We never do the same workout twice, and he adjusts his workout plans according to where my muscles are sore.
No matter your fitness level or needs, he can help. You won’t regret it, just take the leap, one day at a time. You can do it.

I’ve worked out at many gyms throughout my life , I find myself just wasting memberships at large gym settings due to it being too busy or intimidating. Galen Arney was my trainer for four months. I am a 71 year-old male who was not in great shape. Galen took me on and developed a routine which was appropriate and aspirational. I started seeing Galen Arney as my personal trainer about a year ago because I kept tweaking my back during pickleball games. I had minimal core strength and poor mobility in my upper back. Great workout. And Galen is the best! I've been an athlete on and off for 40+ years, and I often find myself knowing more about workout stuff than the trainers in the gym. But Galen, with his kinesthesiology degree and significant experience as an elite athlete, is a treasure. He answers all of my questions and is able to craft a workout that's just right for (aging, slightly decrepit) me.

Where do I begin? I’ve had several experiences with personal training. I’ve lived in multiple states around the US as well as Europe and always sought out personal training. The Breakthrough Health Connection has not only changed my life but honestly made me a better person. Their approaches and workouts are top-notch. I mean the highest level of attention you can get, with meal plans and workouts that just feel right to me. Not in New York City, nor in Berlin or Sydney, did I receive that kind of quality, guidance, and literally the breakthrough in my fitness journey.

Tj Wilson has been my trainer for 2 years. He has helped me become my personal best. I have lost 35 pounds, in addition my overall health improved tremendously. My blood sugars, and bmi are normal. I had a hematologic condition that resolved with exercise, weight loss and diet. Tj knows how to make it fun and challenging and has kept it interesting over the last couple years. Since I’m someone that gets bored easily this is saying a lot.

Breakthrough has a calming ambiance and good vibe. It is very clean and is a private gym which can feel reassuring when you are just starting to work out. Avoiding the “big gym setting” makes for an environment conducive to focusing on your workout without distractions.
