I’ve had repeated challenges with cancellation processes at this Crunch Fitness location. When attempting to cancel both my membership and previously my personal training sessions, I was billed for an additional month in each situation and had to follow up multiple times to address the issue due to repeated poor communication from staff and management. When following up in-person about an email almost one month prior that had still not had a response, I was told by Casey (who told me that he got the email and processed my request) that he usually does not respond with confirmation. That would have been a golden opportunity to explain the 30-day cancellation process, as well as provide peace of mind that my request had been seen and taken care of. Additionally, when I was in person and talking with Christian, one of the managers, and I asked if they take my keychain barcode back or if I should just throw it away, that would have been a great moment for him to clarify that I would have to pay another $30 and that I should keep my key chain barcode until my access ends. Another interesting point was that they switched from keychain barcodes to scanning through an app. Another aspect that could have been communicated.
To improve customer satisfaction, I recommend implementing consistent written confirmations for all cancellations, training staff to clearly explain access, billing timelines, and notice requirements, and improving responsiveness to member inquiries. When I spoke with the manager, Christian, he was courteous, but the overall system needs stronger transparency and more reliable follow-through. Clear communication and documented processes would prevent misunderstandings and reduce frustration for both members and staff.

Great gym, easy going. The equipment here is plentiful. Cleanliness is maintained. Plenty of room to workout without rubbing elbows. Only reason I left was my needs began to extend beyond what was offered. I have children that are starting to desire recreational sports. Since I only have so much time in my day I had to make the hard choice and leave to another place that has what I need and what they need.

Has the potential to be a great gym. A lot of space and a lot of equipment. But the pool is closed, locker rooms are grungy, sauna is decaying, equipment is dated. Not sure if the equipment gets cleaned either. I hope they start to make some improvements.

I recently had an encounter with an employee that I believe is unethical and made me uncomfortable.
On Saturday the 18th in the evening (6:30pm), I went into the state street crunch gym with my girlfriend. I was stopped at the front desk and informed that my membership did not cover guests and that I might get flagged at other locations. The employee (claimed to be a manager) suggested that I update my membership to a “premium” level. He told me that it’s usually 10$ extra but said he’d do me a favor and only charge 2$ extra. When I informed him that I’ve had my membership for over 12 years and that I have unlimited guests, he offered to do it for no extra charge as long as I signed up with him. I asked for any explanation as to why I needed to update it and he shrugged and said he would “draw up the paperwork”.
I have had unlimited guests since 2013, and am grandfathered into this membership since the location was an Idaho athletic. I do not appreciate an employee attempting to mislead me in order to make membership numbers look better. I assume this is the case as no other explanation makes much sense. He later threatened to revoke my membership for inquiring about his shady behavior and using the full privileges of my membership. This is unacceptable.

Good amount of selection at this location. Cardio equipment is aged, but workable. Lots of natural sunlight with the 2 levels. DB cap out at 120 ibs and they have a good amount of machine selection. Gym cleanliness would be at a 3 though. Really dusty and could use a regular vacuum session.

I terminated my membership at Crunch today after 3 years. The State street location recently hired a new GM who insists on parking in the handicap spot next to the entrance, this parking lot and building are shared with a St. Lukes Rehabilitation facility. After 4 days of seeing a car parked in that spot with no handicap placard, I asked an employee who informed me that the new GM parks there, many people have complained and he simply does not care. When I confronted the GM, he immediately became arrogant, refused to move his vehicle and made jokes about how the walk from the parking lot is "killing him" and that the medical facility already had plenty of handicap spots. I took a picture of the vehicle in the spot and reported it to the police department.

The gym itself is large and frequently uncrowded. However, it's also very dusty and the sanitation wipes are rarely stocked in the morning. Do not get a membership here because the administration is terrible.
I had my membership on auto pay but for whatever reason they stopped accepting it. The card was not expired and is used to pay for 3 other reoccurring payments, so it's not on my end. I received multiple automated emails notifying me about this, but whenever I came in person, the manager was not there and the front desk people couldn't help. I also replied multiple times with my phone number and times to contact me but nobody ever reached out. Finally got hold of them and to cancel the membership they charged me for the months they missed because of their own errors. Again, the whole time I was trying to get hold of them and the card wasn't having issues with other vendors.

I recently cancelled my membership at the Eagle Crunch location, but I was a quite frequent user of the Boise State Street location as well. This location is fine, I did enjoy how it was much more spaced out and had more specialized equipment.
However--I had an absolutely horrid experience with my friend at this location as well. During our workouts (for over two weeks) this older man would follow us around the gym and, quite obviously, was taking photos of us. I verbally told this man to stop following us/etc.. We ended our workout early and told the front desk workers about this incident. They acted very surprised when we told them, and said they would talk to him about it.
To our surprise--the workers did nothing. Even to the point of avoiding eye contact with us when we would return to work out. It got so obvious and uncomfortable for us to work out there, that we stopped going to this location. This is ridiculous and embarrassing for a company, and especially shows that they have no care for their customers. I highly recommend NOT choosing crunch for your fitness journey.

I recently moved to this side of town and was looking for a new gym. I was excited to see a large gym so close to where I live and thought it was the obvious choice. I decided to do their 7-day free trial before signing up. Here are my thoughts:
The Positives:
-The gym is never crowded. I went once at 5:30 pm expecting a crowd but most of the equipment was free. This gym does not have an overcrowding issue that many gyms suffer from.
-There is a decent selection of equipment from free weights to machines to even turf and punching bags. They should have enough for the average gym goer.
-Membership prices are fair and competitive.
The Negatives:
-The biggest issue I had was the heat. The main weight room is incredibly warm. They don't seem to have A/C in that area of the gym but instead rely on fans which do not do the job. I imagine its not terrible 8 months out of the year but I visited at the end of June and it was horrible. Had to stop my workout early just because I was so hot. I asked the front desk twice about the issue and I was mainly brushed off saying I can file a complaint. Well, here is my complaint. I asked a member if it was always that hot and he confirmed that it is always like that. The cardio and stretching areas are cooler but still warmer than what a gym should be.
This is a dying gym. You can tell by the lack of members, general grunginess, and lack of care that the gym is not a priority of the company or those who run it. It is not the dirtiest gym but you can tell they are loose with keeping the place upkept.
Despite the convenient location of the gym, I decided not to get a membership mainly due to the A/C issue.

BELIEVE ALL THE BAD REVIEWS!!!
This place does not care whatsoever about customer service. I joined because it was the closest gym to my home and they participate with the Medicare Silver Sneakers program. I had only been once before my wife decided to join. She signed up for a membership. When she went in the lady who signed her up said it would be a $49 fee plus the monthly fee. She said once a year (next year) she would be charged an annual fee of $49. The lady did the quick “initial here and here and sign”, which my wife did. It was presented as the $49 she paid was the annual fee and that would be the only charge other than monthly charges. Two months later there was another $49 charge on our card. We called and to our surprise we were told that the the first $49 charge was an enrollment fee and the second $49 charge was an annual fee, which was never explained this way when we signed up. I asked to speak to a manager and they did transfer me and he was of no help and would not even listen to anything I have to say or consider compromising. All I was looking for was to correct the second $49 charge and we probably would have moved on without much further thought. However, he noted that we had “signed the contract“ and there was nothing he could do about it. He said ”you signed the form you have to pay.” I asked to speak to someone above him and he said he would contact Matt, The regional manager for Crunch and have him contact me but I would have to send him an email requesting it. I have sent several emails to the manager and it has been over a month and Matt the regional manager has not contacted me. I have called the national headquarters for Crunch and they said that these are private franchises and they have no control over them.
I have quit going to this gym. My wife continues to go because she’s obligated. In addition, what others have said in reviews is true, the place is dirty and the showers are nasty! They communicate poorly. They advertised a class which, my wife put her name on the list for. No one ever called her. She contacted them to find out how to get into the class and they said the instructor would call her, but no one ever called.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB, I have contacted silver sneakers and Medicare to complain about this business, I contacted the Idaho attorney Generals office Consumer Protection division to file a complaint regarding the miss-leading business practice when my wife initially signed up for a membership.
I hope they read this review and contact me because maybe it would be the only way to get them to respond. Be cautious dealing with these people.

DO NOT SIGN UP AT THIS GYM! Their business is clearly struggling, new members aren't signing up, management is horrible, it's filthy, poorly run, disorganized, and losing more and more amenities and equipment because it either costs too much to maintain, or they just don't care about their members. These people rob you blind. I went into the Crunch state street location to cancel, but was told the manager wasn't in to cancel it for me, so I needed to email instead. So I did, and got no response. So a day later I emailed again, and still no response. So I went through their customer support on their website, and as of now, no response. If the manager gets back to me by the end of the day today I will bump the rating up, and edit my review to a more positive one about my experience at the gym. As of now I consider them highly unprofessional with their slow response. It seems like they're just trying to milk money out of people, and hoping that I just forget about cancelling, or decide it's too much of a hassle and give up so they can keep billing me. Considering I've tried cancelling in person, was told to cancel through email, and then got no response through email either, this could turn into a legal matter.
Edit: it's now been over a week, I've emailed numerous times, went in to find a manager, and it's as if the front desk people have been told to tell members that the manager isn't there. This company is sinking, and they're taking it out on their members by not allowing them to cancel until they milk every cent possible out of you. I'm scheduling an interview with Boise Dev, KTVB, and I'm blasting them on social media, reviews, I'm talking to current members and they are now trying to cancel memberships at different locations and being hit with the same situation. I will not stop until these people do what's right for their members. This place is a scam, and a garbage gym. Don't waste your money. Go somewhere else. Literally anywhere else.
Edit: after over a week of trying to contact them, and leaving negative reviews on every location in the treasure valley, and contacting the manager of a different location they finally got back to me and say they cancelled my membership. I will be charged one more month as the contract stated, but if billing continues after that I will edit this review again.

I caught a major error in their billing after I had cancelled my membership. Somehow it continued billing my account for some time before I caught it. Was able to provide documentation for the error and they said they would refund me. Went on for months without resolve. Ended up having to pursue more serious options to get refunded. Do not subscribe with them!

Pool, steam room, and jacuzzi closed permanently but the price remains the same. I have spoken with management and they told me corporate said it wasn't worth the expense to keep them up. So what is the extra fee for annually and all the monthly fees if not to keep the gym up? What a waste, used to be such a nice full gym. I also reached out to the email that was given and got no response.

I like that the gym is in a very convenient location. The staff are all very friendly and kind. The energy in the gym is not what I expected. It is very diverse and has all ages and ability levels. The gym is however very dirty and a lot of machines are broken. The pool is out of order and will not be up and running for the foreseeable future. I am unsure why the gym equipment is not being repaired regularly. They do get a lot of business so I would think they would want to keep the gym nice so that people continue to use it. If it was not so close I would choose a nicer gym. The cleanliness and broken equipment is a real downer for me.

I have been a member of this location for more than a decade with no complaints. Since the onset of COVID, I have come to greatly appreciate the spacious layout, high ceilings, and two levels, which allow for ample space to relax without feeling crowded.
One of the greatest assets I just recently discovered here though, is Trainer Eli. He is AWESOME! He truly has a special gift for personal training. He is professional, passionate and his energy is infectious. He listens and is intuitive. He teaches and is patient. He is knowledgeable and informative. Each session is different so it’s always a surprising “adventure” to find out what he has next in store! Eli makes a tough, gruesome 30 minutes somehow feel incredibly rewarding and fun. I am loving this trajectory he has set me on. If you’re looking to change it up, feel amazing and work hard, Eli is the MAN! **Five Stars**

Decent selection of equipment, pool and hot tub have been down for some time now. 6/10 on cleanliness, locker rooms are the worst on that side which is kinda to be expected. Worst part is the guy the have closing on weekends specifically, the way he announces the gym closing just feels so rude and pushy. I get you wanna go home an get off work but most of us know when you close and are actively wrapping up. Being polite about it would go a long way, just makes the gym feel unwelcoming. Haven't been to other locations yet for a comparison but overall been very happy with switching to crunch from Planet Fitness

Review based upon management staff and cancellation policy. I had to switch gyms due to a need for a 24hr gym instead. Usually I dread going to cancel a gym membership, there’s always a gotcha or something like that. The Operations Manager there (Also named Daniel) was very polite and took care of my situation without hassle or the usual guilt trip associated with canceling. I would suggest this Crunch to anyone based solely on this interaction alone.

Super expensive membership for a hot and weirdly set up gym with a dingy disgusting moldy pool. Everything is covered in a thick layer of dust so I wouldn’t look up at the ceiling unless you want to go blind from it falling in your eye. One sauna doesn’t work and the other one is disgusting and I’d probably end up with pneumonia and mold in my lungs if I used it. Not that you would even need a sauna considering it seems that they don’t even have A/C there with how hot it is. The bathrooms are gross too. Literally don’t risk even going near those nasty showers. They don’t even have anywhere for you to fill up your water bottle. Just a small single drinking fountain. We tried to cancel our membership and they said we have to pay for the next month first before they’ll cancel it. I’m sure they only do that because they know that their gym sucks and that’s part of how they scam people out of money. $50/month to catch a disease and die of heat stroke. I’d rather go anywhere else. I just spent a dollar at Planet Fitness to go for a month and then after that I will only have to pay $15 a month and their gym is actually nice and sanitary and cool and there’s TVs and nice bathrooms and hygiene. If you want to have a pool or a bigger gym then I’d go to axiom. Don’t waste your money on this absolute porta potty of a gym.

Today was my first experience at Crunch Fitness. The gym itself was impressive and I had the pleasure of meeting Ricky at the front desk! I must say, his exceptional service and knowledgeable guidance made my fitness journey a truly enjoyable experience.
Ricky's friendly and helpful nature immediately put me at ease, making me feel comfortable and motivated to achieve my goals. Thank you Ricky! I can’t wait to be back!

This is my first ever review of anything online. I cancelled my membership today and the assistant manager asked that I write one. My experience with Crunch was decent overall. Friendly staff, good selection of equipment, a “welcome in” most mornings at 5:30AM…
The reason for 3/5 stars is my opinion of the organization overall. I don’t know if all gyms are like this, but I feel like I’m buying into a Ponzi scheme by committing to a membership. During initial signup, they tried to raise the new membership fee until I showed them the price to signup online, which was less expensive. They waived the additional fees after that discussion.
Today, when cancelling my membership, the assistant manager (who was kind), notified me that I still will be charged for another month after this month because the third party billing company needs a “30 day notification”
Maybe I’m the conspiracy theorist here, but it felt like the gym was trying to take financial advantage of you through unnecessary fees and paperwork. All in all, not a big deal; I just wasn’t fond of being part of a gym that feels like it’s being run by a fraternity trying to hustle you for change by using fancy terms.
I do want to end this review on a good note. Even though I signed up and cancelled my membership at state street, the Crunch in Eagle has an above-average pool, and the front desk (who I had most of my contact with) were pleasant. Thanks!

The Wi-Fi doesn’t work and they never fix it, which is why I gave it less stars. This is a well equipped gym with everything you need. It doesn’t get overly busy like some other places and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. I haven’t done any of the classes so not sure how those are

I have been going to crunch and working out with Casey for a year and a half. When I first started, I had little strength, I was dealing with a chronic right rotater cuff issue and i was struggling with being overweight. It took about 4 months for my shoulder issues to resolve, but it has been good ever since. I have increased strength and endurance. It has helped me in EVERY WAY. I feel so much better!! I have lost about 15 lbs since I started and feel myself becoming more tight and tone. I am thrilled with my results and would recommend one on one training to anyone who wants to reach their goals.

We came to crunch in November of 2023 to get in better shape, but got a huge bonus meeting Casey. He has been our personal trainer since day one. He is so knowledgeable and keeps things fresh and interesting. He is such a big part of helping us stay committed to working out. Im a big fan of strength training because of him and I never thought it was for me.

Since working out at Crunch I've seen a big improvement in my overall strength and fitness. Much of this success is due to Casey, my personal trainer. When I first started training I was having a lot of trouble with plantar fasciitis and he was able to work with me on specific workouts to strengthen and stretches to alleviate pain. Now, the pain is gone and I'm back to being able to walk comfortably as well as continuing to get stronger and work toward my weight goals.

Crunch Fitness in Boise is great! It has everything you need for training (including a pool!). It’s never too crowded, and I don’t feel intimidated by the other users. I’m new to using a gym, so have been working with a personal trainer since joining over a year ago. The training staff are all very professional and have really helped me achieve my fitness goals. A great place with professional and fun people.

We highly recommend Casey Gleeson, our trainer at Crunch! My wife and I had never stepped foot in a gym before. We are getting older and our goals were to build up our strength a little and to just be able to keep doing basic tasks around the house like carrying heavy bags of groceries, going up into the attic, etc. Casey tailored a workout regimen to do just that and it has helped us immensely. Casey knows his stuff, pays close attention to you as you workout so you don't hurt yourself and makes it fun. We now find ourselves hiking the foothills, climbing ladders, raking the yard and being much more confident about being more physically active.Thank you, Casey!

This place has everything you need at a gym. Good equipment, good air flow, and low stench. Has become a part of my daily routine and I have no complaints. I rate the staff as a 5, especially the trainers and Eli in particular, for their personal attention, professionalism, and the positive reinforcement they consistently provide. Unfortunately, the facility needs some work. The pool temperature is inconsistent, the hot tub is frequently cold, and the jets seldom work. The women's shower room is very outdated and the restrooms could be cleaner. To be fair, it seems like they are actively trying to make improvements.

I have been a member at this gym since it was idaho athletic club. The only reason I chose this facility is for the pool and hot tub which also used to include a steam room. It seems that I and many others contine to pay for a service that is sub-par to say the least. The hot tub is often cold or luke warm, and the pool is often colder than it should be as. I am not sure if there is a malfunctioning system, inconsistent staff checklist, or lack of keys to turn on the heat, I feel like after all these years I have heard all the excuses from staff all days of the week. The crumbling siding and stairs are continuing to get worse. My membership has been mostly based off of the pool, hot tub, steam room, and tanning beds. The rest of the facility seems loved so it is unfortunate that we will be looking else where due to the consistent cold, deteriorating pool area.

I hate leaving negative reviews, but I’m not really sure what else to do at this point.
I’m getting calls all day over a late payment that clearly has been debited from my account a week ago - it was not rejected or declined. When I answer these calls, it’s an automated message saying “No one is available at this number”.
I canceled my membership through the proper channels before my membership renewed and the amount was debited anyway. When I messaged to follow up on the refund (for the third time, since I had to follow up on the cancellation twice in the first place) I got no response and had to notify my bank instead.
I also tried to call the corporate number and it’s no longer active. There is no real corporate number, it seems.
I’m so sad that this is what it turned into. I really had a good time in the beginning, but this ruined me ever wanting to go back.

This review is about the gym itself, not the staff. Most of the staff that I have interacted with have been kind and helpful. But the gym... OMG! It is DISGUSTING!!! I have never been so grossed out at a gym that it is making me want to cancel my new membership. The hair in the drains in the sinks in the women's bathroom makes me gag when I just want to wash my hands. The dust and hairballs around all the machines is very off putting. And in the week that I have l gone, I think I have seen only 1 other person, besides myself, wipe down a machine after using it. Probably because the bins that have the wipes in them are always empty, but still. Oh, and definitely don't touch the hand rail for the stairs...I held a wipe in my hand as I held the rail on my way down the stairs and it was BLACK when I got to the bottom. Seriously! The health department needs to give this place a visit... And don't get me started on the locker rooms and pool area... So gross.

Recently moved from SE Boise to the area and was in need of a new gym. Signed up for Crunch due to being 5 min away from my house. After 2 days I am already planning on canceling my membership at the end of the month. The gym has potential but needs a lot of work. Cardio area seems fine but the weight room needs a complete make over. Machines are decent but the dumbells are horrible. They are completely unorganized and outdated and majority seemed broken/loose which is dangerous. The weight area and locker room is quite dirty. Again, the gym has potential due to the size and location it just feels outdated and unmanaged. Need a local company like Axiom to take over this location.

Probably the least clean Men's locker room I have ever seen. The showers have black mold everywhere. The sauna is deplorable...filth everywhere, rotten wood that is falling apart, bandaids and trash that is left for WEEKS. I am not exaggerating when I say this place probably needs to be shut down for hygene issues. The rest of the facility is decent, although the not the cleanest but the locker rooms and apparent lack of ANY cleaning staff is horrendous. The ONLY reason I use this gym is because of a free membership through my work, if you are reading this and even thinking about joining I urge you to look elsewhere. Again, absolutely disgusting and honestly a health hazard.

The place is FILTHY! I mean everywhere - filth. The locker/bathrooms have not been touched with any updates in probably a decade. The floor mats are FOUL. I called today to tell manager, who answered the call "What's up?" and said he is not regular manager so could not do anything...before I said a word. I shared these concerns and he repeated he couldn't do anything. Zero acknowledgement, concern, or assurance he would pass the message on to the regular manager. Not sure how anyone like this could end up as a MANAGER! I called corporate to share concerns, but the 800 number has an outgoing message that it is a non-monitored number. This place is an absolute joke.

I had reservations about signing up for Crunch Fitness after having come from other local gyms (like Jack City and others) that don't make you jump through hoops to cancel. I tried to cancel after my 2nd month, and then they charged me for another month, and on top of that an additional annual fee! Beware that these Terms and Conditions are predatory. For real, stop taking advantage of consumers. Let us cancel when we want to.
