Super old school gym. Tons of vintage steel plates, dumbbells up to 120's, vintage machines that honestly feel better than modern ones. Squat racks, tons of benches, cables, everything you need to a great workout. These are my favorite kind of gyms. In the basement, kinda dirty, echoey, the sound of steel plates clanking together. It was $5.30 for a day pass in September 2025.

It has all the essentials that you need. It is a very old building. Bit of a maze when you get inside there. Trying to find everything, but it's all there. Huge locker room, I found that convenient
Very friendly staff, they were very helpful and courteous

If you want your child to join the YMCA sports I don’t recommend doing it for multiple reasons .The faculty are lazy and pick favorites also they are very rude in the sports industry of the Y. This lady came up to one of the coaches and said “ I can tell your team needs practice and a new coach with experience” I was sitting near by and heard. it’s very disrespectful and unsportsmanlike to say that in front of the coach and the coaches team this lady made both the coach and the team think they sucked at there sport in my mind that’s so disappointing to hear about and have to see how sad the KIDS where after there game. Me having a kid on the team who was sad pisses me off the Y has no respect for there players nor there workers or the parents people who fund your whole business. If you want your kid to play a sport I 100% recommend playing for the city there nicer and more respectful. If I had to rate the Y I would rate no stars at all. Putting my kid down making them feel useless is on another level of disrespect and rudeness the Y needs to step up. Also the Y has a “strict rule” on bullying as they say but the Y lets bullying happen there has been so much bullying and taunting and kids sticking there Tongues out at other players. Coaches picking favorites with there players and the players bullying kids on there team. If you want to put your kid in one of the sports I hope your ready for a high price, bullying, taunting, bad refs, bad coaching , horrible staff and for your kid to walk out sad or defeated. I hope that the Y does better in the future. I’m so disappointed I can’t even put in to words how disappointed I am about the YMCA in Idaho falls do better I will not be returning to the ymca after today.

Older building but friendly staff and many helpful services offered here. Full range of cardio and weight machines, free weights, and several exercise classes offered daily. Racquetball courts, full gym, and kids programming. The cardio room was far too warm in my opinion - no fans present.

This is about the child care center. They are awful! They kept releasing information to a past employee about our my grandson still at the daycare. When my daughter talked to the CEO he said he would address the issue. She was told by the staff that it wouldn’t be a problem in the future but then a few days later they informed her that her son wouldn’t be allowed to participate in the summer program but could come back in the fall. I guess this is the way they address the issue by kicking the child out. The building is run down with little to no updates. Childcare is often under staffed according to law. The women over the daycare is rude and the CRO and HR aren’t interested is fixing the problem.

I walked in and there was nobody in the building. I walked a little further into the foyer and saw a staff member walking toward, what I know now to be the gym, and as I said “excuse me, sorry, maam”, trying to find where I was supposed to be, I was completely ignored. I saw her when I followed her to the gymnasium - hoping I was going to the right place - and when u saw they had no other line judges, asked if they needed one. Her answer was a wave of the flag in my face, and with a very matter of fact tone, saying, “no, I’m gonna do it”. Then she proceeded to be off the court for a good portion of the game, not being able to call the point, because she was talking to someone on the sideline of the opposite side she was judging.

Specific to child care here- Horrible since Matt left. Everything is chaos. new lady Mary in charge is non-approachable and rude. All the kids here seem to get sick all the time and the staff does nothing about it other than shut the whole place down and making all families suffer the consequences. They don’t seem to know how to clean/ disinfect. Children get away with hitting other children constantly and staff gives “warnings” but never does anything about it but yell at the kids repeatedly. We tried to give this place a chance after our favorite director Matt left but we can’t be happier that we removed our grandkids from this place!!!

We've found a place that not only encourages personality growth and development, the directors and camp counselors let my daughter put on a concert without any advance notice!
We'll hold on to these memories forever. Thank you YMCA team!!!

Save your money for a place where they know what they are actually doing! If I could do a review without stars I would. I am extremely disappointed with this place. From day 1 it was so unorganized, and chaotic. On top of that they don’t have enough coaches for all their sports. During the last game there was no staff or referees, the parents had to do it all. Finally a “coach” from the Y finally shows up 30 minutes late with the supplies, and was on her phone the whole time. I will NEVER have anything to do with the Y or suggest this place to anyone.

Most disorganized sports programs I've ever been involved in. The sports programs are so poorly ran it's a joke. Avoid wasting your money signing your kids up for anything thru this branch. Stuck with city or private ran programs.

This place is horrible! The staff are all too laid back and the male teachers are too friendly with the children! Especially Mr. Stevie! I had to file a police report due to the inappropriate behavior of the male teachers and the management is ok with it because they are all friends rather than keeping things professional and having boundaries with kids that are not yours. Be careful where you leave your kids because this place is not safe.

I could go on and on and on about how poorly run this organization is for children's sports but I will spare you. Take my advice and don't pay for UNORGANIZED, CHAOTIC and EXPENSIVE youth sports.

This is the sports specifically. Don’t know about the rest, but the sports have been awful from the start. The last few years there were never any coaches, you would show up and a parent would be like I guess I’ll coach. I thought it’d be different this year with the new sport director but it’s worse. My husband signed up to coach my son. He did the training and background check they now require. We have called and called to get his teams info. Looking online, they placed my son in someone else’s team and hubby didn’t get a team at all to coach. They still won’t answer their phone or voicemails. It is a complete joke. The pics in the place aren’t accurate. The gym is falling apart and there are no places for families to sit and watch. The first games of the season are today, my husband clearly isn’t a coach and my son won’t be playing here.

My wife and I signed our boys up for T-ball last year and they had a great time and we did too… we signed our boys up for soccer this year and had their last game today, I don’t know what happened… maybe it was a change in sports directors, I don’t know, but this year was terrible!! It was complete chaos from start to finish!! We had a parents meeting and we were told that the fields would be marked so that you would know where your kid would be playing, and we were told that the jerseys would be there.

First day of soccer and the fields were not marked, parents were wondering around trying to figure out what to do and the staff were not helpful at all. My wife even asked about one of our sons jerseys and they told her that they didn’t know what happened to them that they couldn’t find them, so we waited for a minute, I went and asked they told me that they think that they gave them to someone else or someone came and took them… that first day, I wasn’t impressed at all…

It’s been complete chaos every Saturday since! Unmarked fields, confused parents, and staff that aren’t helpful at all and just sit in their camping chairs in the shade having a grand time while us parents are left to try and sort things out… today was the last soccer game and almost everyone was gone. Today was the first time one of the staff was actually helpful and helped organize two teams.

I’m very disappointed in the YMCA. I didn’t pay for this… my wife and I won’t be signing up our boys through the YMCA anymore. If we are going to pay money for sports, it will either be through City of Ammon or Idaho Falls or if their school provides it, but, we won’t be wasting our time and money on the YMCA anymore.

The soccer referee program has some room for improvement. The Idaho Falls location could use some more money invested in it. Better seats as well.

Truly cannot understand the high costs to join/attend this facility. I would understand if the high prices were directly related to paying the various "coaches & trainers" related to the various sports programs, but aren't they SUPPOSED to be volunteers? WHERE exactly is this money going? I could understand the high cost, IF the equipment & facility were new and up to date, but that's not the case either. So again, why the high join cost & monthly membership prices? In my opinion there are MUCH nicer options in at town at MUCH more reasonable prices. I would suggest adding a membership option for single adults who don't utilize the various sports programs, (that are obviously designed for children), as well as a membership option for those with disabilities. For being a 503(c) NON-PROFIT, (non-profit being the key word here) somebody is making out like a bandit, as opposed to putting that money BACK into the facility, FOR the community.....
just a thought..

This place is a DUMP!! OUT OF ORDER signs everywhere, and on everything. The building is so outdated and mistreated it is almost a hazard. I signed my kids up to play sports here and if I would have know there were NO COACHES and the building was so disgusting I would have gone to a different league. Save your money, there are better sports programs offered for the same price at other places. I wish I would have done better research.

Since I appreciate the YMCA's mission and support of the community I naturally was drawn towards joining this gym. While I have noticed a few minor flaws. The gym is well taken care of from what I can see, but it looks like most of the free weights need replaced. And the general condition of the equipment seems worn down. Also I have noticed that they keep the equipment sanitized from the strong smell of bleach and cleaning products in the hall way of the gym. I like going to the YMCA but the staff are not always greeting people when they arrive in the center, and I find myself often saying hello or have a good evening when I come and leave. Other than these minor grievances I love going and have benefited from having a good place to lift weights after work and on the weekends.

This place has been in our community since I think 1944 and they have had their ups and downs like any non-profit. However, since a few years now it is vastly different, from the new lobby to the new programs, it's so much better now. They have volleyball now along with so many teams for soccer it's just amazing how they've grown! Can't wait to see what other great programs they have coming out for our community!

I've never been around a more dysfunctional, confusing, unorganized facility more in my life.. and at the insanely high costs?! My son went two weeks, two times being forgotten after school and consistently having to seek out where the children were being kept for pickup. It truly was a mess that I got sick of extremely quick. If you're paying their rates, I recommend finding other facilities in the area.

They are full of excuses and push blame on other people. My 8 year old was left out at his FIRST football game.
They handed out "jerseys" (cheaply made shirt with the Y logo on it) to all of the kids except my child. When we asked why he did not get one the response was "we did not have enough". and asked was he registered late? Ummm no he was not and Cristian (the Idaho falls sports director) confirmed it. they gave him a old raggedy mesh pull over to wear that was white. (Team color is blue) Then (after the child had played in his jersey) my son was offered a shirt off of another child's back. NOT FAIR TO THAT CHILD.
when i called and spoke with the Sports director he simply said " I did not have time to count them" and the coach should not have given them out if there was not enough.
After I spent well over 45 min on the phone with Cristian he re-assured me my son will have a shirt at his next game and will be uniformed like the "team" he plays on.

Well thanks YMCA for making my child (who was soooo excited to get his jersey) upset and feel left out. Go Team, except the only child who was not included.

The Idaho Falls YMCA is a low cost alternative to the more expensive gyms in town. They have a great weight lifting room and multiple full size racket ball courts. They are usually pretty clean and the staff is very helpful.
