My girlfriend and I were in Boise for a wedding. We were familiar with Starting Strength, but neither of us had ever been coached in person by a Starting Strength Coach. We wanted feedback on our lifts and Starting Strength Boise absolutely delivered an excellent experience.
The coaching we received from Tony and Sam was fantastic! The encouragement from the owners was also great! And we felt very welcome even though we were just visiting.
If you want to get stronger, this is the place to go.

I had an incredible first experience at Starting Strength Boise this weekend! Even though I've been lifting for over a decade, I haven’t had formal coaching in nearly three years, and this one-hour session reminded me how valuable good coaching can be.
The entire staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about helping their clients improve. Tony, the coach I worked with, immediately spotted a few form tweaks and gave me simple, effective cues that made a noticeable difference. His ability to communicate clearly and tailor advice to my experience level really stood out.
I have heard about Starting Strength for years, and I finally had the chance to see what it's all about while visiting Boise. I’m so glad I did. 2.5 years ago at 57 I began Strength Training to easily lift my grandchildren. Now at 59 with the personalized programming and excellent coaching I have far exceeded anything I originally thought possible. I have changed my body composition, lost weight and improved bone density. Deadlift:250, RP:265, B:106, PR: 68, S:172. Small classes and encouraging community and fun seasonal events. Best strength training around!!!!

I was an athlete in school and 40 years as a firefighter. Keeping in shape became tougher the higher in rank I achieved. Just too much desk time.

You CAN build muscle after 60! I was athletic in my (much) younger years and thought I just had to accept increasing aches and pains in my body and that building muscle was only a memory. I could not have been more wrong.
I knew if I was going to lift I wanted a coach so that 1) I could avoid injury and 2) I would get the most benefit for my time. The attention and encouragement I receive from Coach Tony is incredible. The initial focus on form with light but increasing weight then being consistently coached has brought results I didn’t think were possible.
The biggest surprise was how much better my back felt getting out of bed in the morning. After a few weeks I no longer got up looking like a 95 year old man and the back pain and stiffness were gone. A big deal because I have had back issues for almost 40 years. Gaining muscle in my chest, shoulders and arms has been great but I would do it just for how much better my back feels for sure.
Starting Strength is for everybody and every body because they meet you where you are strength wise and make adjustments based on your ability. Even if you have a recent or lingering injury modifications are made to help you progress your recovery (for example, my torn meniscus).

I’m so impressed with Starting Strength! I’ve never lifted weights before and they make it simple and fun. I’ve been pleasantly surprised how quickly this has helped build strength. I started this program 1 month ago. I have gained muscle % and lost fat % every week and overall lost weight. I get personal training in a small group atmosphere. I have learned a lot more than when I have paid a whole lot more money for personal training!! Super great coaches and fun members in my class! Great camaraderie and accountability!!

I belong to the Starting Strength in Beaverton, Oregon and was able to stay on track with my program while on a business trip this week at the SS Boise-Downtown gym. It is an exceptional facility! The training was the same high quality with Travis Hunt that I am used to with my trainer, Amanda Sheppard, at home —-and it was just as fun too! I got a personal record in the deadlift that day 💯 3x3@210 for a newbie to weight training at 60, it’s the BEST! I highly recommend SS Boise Downtown to anyone that is wanting a motivating, reliable, challenging and safe program to build lean body mass, strength, and endurance to check-out the Starting Strength, Boise-Downtown location!💪

Starting Strength is a thoroughly welcoming environment for newbies (like me!) and seasoned lifters alike. I love the group class format combined with the excellent individual coaching & programming.
