My story is that I started this weight loss/ body strengthening journey not for anyone other than myself. The weight added up when I had my two sons pretty close together (the youngest is two). What pushed me to finally make that big step and say, “I can’t do this alone, but I know I have to do something” was when I went to my doctor because I hadn’t been feeling well; I’d noticed I was having signs of high blood pressure like intense headaches, exhaustion, and light-headedness, and to top it all off, I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression for years.
My meds were only controlling it superficially: on the inside, I was rotten. I was put on a medication that is meant for seizure treatment (one off-label effect of this med is weight loss) so, naturally, I started it. A month later, I weaned myself off it: I had started developing tingling and numbness in my fingers! And that was the last straw. I asked myself then, “Karla, what are you doing? What knowledge and abilities do you have to get into better health?”
I saw the advertisement for Studio G’s 6-week challenge on Facebook, and I was both nervous and anticipative about what it would mean to take on something like this. You see, I’m a nurse in a high-stress job and I work every weekend, I’m a wife and a mother to my boys— my oldest son is special needs and that comes with therapies throughout the week and special half-day pre-school— and I am also a student currently finishing up my internship and will graduate this semester with my master’s degree in leadership and education in nursing.
Would I have the time to take on a program that required my full dedication to meal planning, exercising, and making sure I was hydrating enough at work when some days I don’t even get a full lunch, and there are dishes, laundry, diaper changes, and potty training to take care of on top of homework? Yikes!
Well, fast-forward to today, and I am 20 pounds lighter, my muscle that I haven’t seen since I was 20 is shaping back. I FEEL GREAT! I’ve got energy, my high blood pressure is resolved, I’m happier (so is the hubby!), my anxiety hardly ever gets the best of me lately, and my clothes don’t fit— I never thought I’d run into this on the opposite side, too bad I got rid of all my small clothes years ago. I’m going shopping!!!
Don’t get me wrong, it was not easy. Heck yes, I wanted that cookie, that glass of wine with dinner, or simply to drink my Bowl of Soul at Java! But I am looking back at this journey and I am proud of the sacrifices and discipline I put myself through.
The best feeling of all though: I feel empowered.
My coworkers and friends are so impressed by all I’ve accomplished that some of them have joined this studio and have reaped all that it has to offer. And this journey isn’t over yet. Summer is coming and I want to bust out my two-piece bikinis, but I’m going to keep working on it so that I feel confident and in love with myself. There’s always room for growth.
I only have one message for anyone who has experienced something like what I have, or even if you’ve got a crazy journey that is nothing like mine: if I can do it, you can do it. And I couldn’t have done it without Studio G and all of the amazing instructors that I have befriended.

Highly recommend Studio G. The people are amazing and are more then happy to help you with any questions you may have from working out to nutrition and even their own line of protein, pre workouts. The Red Carpet challenge was a lot of fun and it pushed me to continue to work out regularly and actually focus on the food I was intaking.

Did the 6 week challenge. Had fantastic results. Gilly gave me a meal plan that worked great for me and helped me change some unhealthy habits. The trainers did a great job as a newbie learning how to lift weights. Looking forward to continued health!

Gilly and her team of trainers are fun and kind and easy to train with. The trainers I did get a chance to work with were not intimidating and willing to show you how to do the exercises correctly without making you feel less than which is important when you are getting into fitness because it helps you stay motivated. My favorite class by far was Gillys kickboxing class. So energetic, fun, easy to follow along and you feel great afterwards because you know you got an awesome workout in!!

I can't rave enough about how great Studio G is. I've been attending for about a month now and plan to keep attending for years to come. I take three classes a week and get the best workouts for the best prices. The instructors are kind, passionate, knowledgeable, and teach amazing classes. I felt comfortable from the moment I walked in the door for all of my classes-even as a beginner in many of the classes. The studio is clean, inviting, and has a great vibe-and the exercise equipment is diverse and enriches every workout. If I could give more than five stars, I would!

If you're looking for a gym that's non-traditional, outside the box, personal, and intense then I would recommend Studio G. I completed their 6 week challenge and Gilly and her team helped my crush the goals they set for me. Gilly and the crew were very knowledgeable, driven to help improve my form, supportive, and just all around awesome. This is the perfect place if you want to shake things up or try something completely new. 5/5 would do again.

I have been attending Studio G for a little over year now and I just have to say how thankful I am for Gilly and the whole group of trainers at Studio G. As a lot of us would admit, I am my biggest critic and sometimes I’m really hard on myself. Every time I attend a training session every single trainer makes it a point to encourage me and keep me motivated to work hard and feel good about myself. I guess that’s why I try to go to the gym as much as possible. Their upbeat positive attitudes mean the world to me. The energy during the classes keeps me motivated and going way past what I would do on my own. The atmosphere in the gym is comfortable, friendly, and non-judgemental. We always have fun during classes anf personal training. Each session I’ve attended provides proper technique as well as giving modifications so that you are comfortable to participate in whatever you want. I’m doing things that I never thought I would be able to do, and at age 45 I am by far the strongest I’ve been my whole life. If you ready to take control of your body and eating habits I encourage you to give Studio G a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed! Thank you Gilly for following your heart and providing a place for people to come and better themselves in every single way. You and your amazing staff are all rockstars!!!

My wife and I decided to go on the 6 week challenge that they offer and had an amazing experience. This experience has changed my whole life. Before, all I knew about being fit was just working out and eat your veggies (but I never did). Now that I'm eating proper proportions and actually eating my veggies, I feel great! I've never in my life felt this good about myself and I'm so happy I did this program. I would suggest this program to anyone!
