One of the most exclusive golf experiences you may ever have in lifetime (donโt miss the truth about Hole 14 below).
This bucket-list golf course, home to the worldโs only floating green on Hole 14, is worth every penny spent on travel, stay, and play.
The course isnโt just beautiful - it offers breathtaking views of Lake Coeur dโAlene from nearly every place. It becomes both fun and challenging, especially on the front nine where you play up/downhill slopes while constantly distracted by the stunning scenery of hills, water, and mountains.
Of course, most golfers come here for the iconic Hole 14. The green literally floats in the lake. Every morning, the staff adjusts the cables to set that dayโs distance - and it stays fixed all day. Thereโs a sign near the clubhouse showing the exact yardage (you can tune your shots to that distance at the floating balls driving range before you start).
You tee off from land, aim to check your ball in on the floating green, then ride a small boat called the Putter to finish your putt. If you make par (3) or better, you earn a commemorative certificate - a memory youโll never forget.
Important note (that AI or word-of-mouth often gets wrong):
1. Youโre only allowed two shots from the tee box to try to reach the green.
2. The certificate isnโt given just for playing the hole - you must score par or better to earn it.
Ironically, my son was paired with two amateur players that day and both took penalties off the tee and missed par. We were told that many overthink the shot. In truth, the green is wide but shallow, so distance control and club choice (usually a wedge) are critical.
My son made par that day, and we were absolutely thrilled. This is the experience you come here for. All the staff members supported him - ferry captain, referee, caddy, clubhouse staff, other players!
You donโt have to stay at the resort to play the course, but make sure to book far in advance - itโs often fully reserved. Yes, itโs pricey (though they offer junior rates), and no, the burgers may not be the best youโve ever had. But thatโs not why youโre here - youโre here to play an iconic course.
And Coeur dโAlene delivers.

Played this course on Friday September 5th. I saw the reviews of the slow play but we played in 4 hours 15 at 1:30 PM which is a very good pace for a resort course. We had a great caddie named Jace who was awesome all round. Course itself has some spectacular holes that are very memorable but a horrible finish to the golf course. Overall was a great day and well worth the visit.

Beautiful place but ruined by the caddy. For it being my second time ever playing, hearing that we were to expect a fast round and that he worked a double that day wasnโt ok. He repeatedly kicked or threw my ball forward and when I decided to stop playing so that I could enjoy just hanging out because it was no longer fun, he went and talked behind my back to my party which was super embarrassing. Maybe I shouldnโt have played this course so early but was brought along by friends. Terrible experience on such a nice day.

Don't bother trying to buy anything from their online pro shop. I bought a driver head cover and had it shipped to me, as I live out of state. As far as I could tell, there was no way for me to track the package as there was no link or tracking number sent to me. Only an estimated delivery date. A few days after this date had passed, and my item had still not been delivered, I realized something was wrong so I called the pro shop. I was told that my item had been delivered. I told the associate helping me that I did not have the package and she told me that she would look into it and get back to me.
I got an email about 30 minutes later with a pdf receipt of Fex-Ex saying they had delivered the package and I was told that I had have to file a claim with Fed-Ex and that they couldn't (or wouldn't) file the claim themselves. At this point, I submitted a dispute on the card I used to purchase this item. After I pushed back and disputed the transaction, they were suddenly able to file the claim themselves. Three days later, I was told that my claim had been accepted and that they would send me another one. They requested that I agree to sign for the package this time to avoid any issues and I agreed. Then they told me that I needed to release the dispute on my card before they would send the replacement in the mail "sometime this week." I have never had this experience before and after some quick Google research, I learned that this is a completely unnecessary step, and that a seller can deal with this on the backend and still have the dispute resolved. Regardless, I released the dispute and requested that they put my item in the mail that day. I got an email 24 hours after my response saying that they were still waiting on my bank to respond before sending me my item.
At this point, I had enough of having my time wasted. It had been 23 days since I had purchased the item and 8 days since I had called the pro shop to say I had never received my item. And the item was still not even in the mail. I told them that I was reinstating my dispute and to not bother sending me the replacement.
I am not upset that my package got lost in the mail. I understand that mistakes happen. However, I am upset with the extremely poor customer service I received throughout this ordeal. The associates i dealt with made this mistake seem like my fault when I simply wanted an item that I paid for. They tried to make me go through steps that, they, the seller should have dealt with on the backend without involving me, the customer. It became a hassle to try to spend my money here. Additionally, the associates that I dealt with spent more time pushing back, stalling, and trying to do the bare minimum customer service than actually trying to resolve my issue, which could have been resolved in a day. I am extremely disappointed by this experience from what claims to be a "high end resort."

We had a wonderful stay here. The room was more spacious than expected and offered great views even without being lakefront. The golf course was in great condition and we had excellent service at every part of our stay.

The course is famous for its floating island green. Overall the course is a nice course. The forecaddy we had was not great. His first season and he really had very little information. He was zero help reading greens.
The scenic views are spectacular and the course is nice. I did the stay and play and they forgot me at the course with the shuttle. They need some work here.
The only downside is that the 14th hole, the floating green is what you play it for, it's the pinnacle of the experience after you play it holes 15-18 are kinda disappointing.

regarding the golf
After having Sean and Kyle back to back as my caddies and then having a different caddy I came to realize how good they are and how I should've triple tipped them because they are wonderful
regarding the room
Everything was pretty smooth, except they didn't make up our room on our last night
Not too cool when you're spending 600 bucks a night
I left the light on and everything
The manager comped us 4 drinks took 100 bucks off her room bill and got the room cleaned up and gave us a late checkout

My husband & I played two rounds this week and had an absolute blast. Every single staff member from the time you enter the gate was so friendly and accommodating, & our forecaddie Jaben was the best!! We requested him again on day 2 and they made it happen. The course was beautiful, and pace of play was great (we played on Tuesday & Wednesday). 10/10 experience, we cant wait to come back next year!

Really enjoyed the course this time, having played it once before 25 years ago. I've got a few more courses under my belt since then and better suited to appreciate the entire layout. The entire course was in phenomenal condition and the forecaddie we had was awesome. Would like to have another crack at hole 11, but my saving grace was a nice tee shot onto the floating green.

Beautiful course, but overrated resort course. Pace of play is 5 hours plus. Youโre forced to have a caddie and walking highly discouraged. Pompous staff who like to brag how the only reason itโs not too 100 is they refuse to pay golf digest. Itโs not top 100 bc the fairways are chewed up and the sand is more fitting for a municipal course.. Shot distances are also very similar hole to
Hole. The forecaddie is of of little value trying to navigate 4 separate players- they certainly donโt help with the pace of play. The floating green is a neat attraction but not worth the price.

The Coeur dโAlene Resort Golf Course is one of my all time favorites. It is a really fun resort course. Very favorable bounces. The only knock i have is that the greens are a bit slow. Probably running at a 9. Playing it the day after Circling Raven made it difficult to get the ball to the hole.
The novelty of the floating green is always fun. The wind was blowing off the lake into our faces pretty hard, so that shot was even more difficult.
The course is immaculate. There is no expense spared on manicuring this coarse. Flowers everywhere, each fairway is perfect. Greens are clean and role smooth. Caddies always add a great feature.
All around great experience.

I had an incredible time playing at Coeur dโAlene golf course. The course was beautiful, and thanks to our awesome forecaddie, Dave, I shot my best score ever!
He was knowledgeable, helpful, and made the whole round more fun. Iโd highly recommend him to anyone โ he really made a difference.

I went to a conference last month and had never been to Idaho nor had heard of Coeur d'Alene before. Pleasantly surprised is an understatement for this area!!
The rooms weren't anything to write home about. They could use some updating, yet the scenery and location were absolutely amazing!!!
We were lucky enough to get a room that overlooked the lake, so each morning, we woke up to a beautiful view of the lake and bridge that connects the largest floating boardwalk in the country!
There was hiking right off of the premises, a downtown area for shopping and exploring restaurants, you could rent a boat, take a sea plane ride and play golf if you wanted to as well.
If you aren't someone that gets caught up in the amenities of the room, then this is a great place to visit!

Golf course is beautiful. Played course two times. First time had a good run but round went a little long. Day two wanted to quit by hole 9. Round took over 5-1/2 hours which is outrageous. Rangers were useless. Had 4 groups stacked multiple times and rangers just passed by. Course is beautiful but for $275 with caddies there is absolutely no reason to play anything over 5 hours. Would recommend one of the other local courses if you donโt have an entire day to blow sitting around waiting hole after hole.

This golf course is an absolute delight! The fairways and greens are meticulously maintained, offering a perfect mix of challenge and enjoyment for all skill levels. The highlight is undoubtedly the floating greenโan incredible feature that adds a unique twist to the game. The driving range into the lake is another fantastic element, making practice sessions both fun and picturesque. The staff is professional and friendly, enhancing the overall experience. Great course with plenty of picturesque holes and scenery. Tee boxes were nice, fairways really good condition. Rough was just long enough but not over frustrating. Greens were slightly quick. Forecaddie was nice and informative (Owen). Snack cart was by a handful of times. Would play again. Pack your patience and enjoy views as some players infront may be taking a lot of photos.

We came to the golf course to have lunch with my family from out of state. When we arrived, we put our name on the list and told 45 minutes so we shopped around the pro shop and took pictures. After a while we checked the status and told we never put our name on the reservation list? We asked if we could be bumped up and no sorry nothing we can do. They sat us inside for drinks while we yet again waited. During this time the manager came out saying we lied to the host telling her never mind we didnโt want to be on the reservation list?!?! WHAT? Why would I bring my family who are avid golfers to see the course for the first time ever from out of state and just randomly walk around the pro shop for no reason? The entire point of us coming was to enjoy lunch and the view. So the fact she called us liars was completely insulating! We did get a table outside after waiting for another 30 minutes and we ordered food right away because now we were on a timeline. After about another 30 minutes we asked the host if thereโs any update and told our ticket was just started. We ended up giving the waitress a $20 and telling her to cancel everything and we left. As someone who was excited to show family the great course, it was very disappointing and left a poor impression on them and was embarrassing for me who took them here.

Beautiful golf course. Pristine condition. Absolutely one of the best courses Iโve ever played. But then we tipped our caddy, that the resort makes you have when you go out, and he said our tip was low. โThis is badโ were the exact words from their mouth. Never had that happen before. Itโs a tip, thereโs no set amount. Left a crummy taste on what was a pretty memorable day. Not sure weโd come back.

Playing here probably the most inefficient and boring ways to play golf in the entire Spokane / CDA area. Why?
1. Everything is vastly overpriced: A 16oz plastic coke is $5. Greens fees were $160 (early season discount). A Caddie is required, so you probably should tip him, $30+.
2. Slowest pace of play I've ever experienced. I had a 12 noon tee time. The course had a frost delay in the morning. However, I was driving away from the course at 7:00 pm. They have caddies and ranger driving around to keep pace of play on track. However, this does absolutely nothing. The ranger will drive up and make a dumb dad joke and claim he's speeding things up, but it's all a show. It's just a display of customer service and friendliness. How should they fix this? It's obvious, less tee times.
3. You can't walk the course
4. Caddies are required - Dont get me wrong, the guy was fun to hang out with. But completely unnecessary. It didnt speed up the pace of play and we had carts.
5. The course design itself is nothing special. There are a few "fun" holes: floating green and a few of the other par 3's. Otherwise, its almost a Links style course. It's truly nothing special. The floating green is actually pretty dumb and inefficient itself: Why not just build a walkway/bridge instead of making golfers get on a slow tugboat.

Holy cow this bucket list event did not disappoint. 1st of all our caddie Sean C. Was an absolute treat. The amount of help and knowledge was AMAZING. SO BIG THANK YOU!!!! 2nd we were asked no less than 5 different times if we were enjoying ourselves from the pro shop to a grounds guy, Ranger etc. then course was immaculate and just plain fun. True it is not the most difficult but it works. And last our group went 4 for 4 on the island green so all good there. Thank you, John and Michelle

Pros: All staff members were kind and helpful. A large pro shop. The holes along the water are very scenic. The restaurant offered great views while dining. Weโll manicured course and grounds.
Cons: I felt the course lacked the touches and details that are standard at other resort courses, especially considering the cost. For example, no water is provided and it was a hot day. No towels or GPS in the golf carts. The finishing hole is nothing special. It was hot in the restaurant like the AC was not strong enough to keep it cool. The Pro shop didnโt have many options for XS ladies clothing.

This course has been on my list, and I finally made it here on September 6th, 2022. What an experience. Just awesome. Your caddy meets you in the parking lot. The pro-shop is huge. Driving range into the water accompanied by a pre-round massage is a nice touch.
Eric was our forecaddy that day, and he was just awesome. I cannot say enough good things about his politness & professionalism, assistance with our round, and even giving our group pointers not just about how to play the course but about our individual swings & technique(s). He was also personable and patient, which made others in my group with a little less experience than myself feel relaxed and enjoy it more. Eric was a great representitive of the establishment.
The course was in impeccable shape. Virtually flawless from tee to green. Water on a few holes, an average amount of bunkers, not much elevation change but for a few holes. Some slope, mostly on the greens but its not like there are multiple breaks on every 10 foot putt. Overall i thought it was an excellent track.
Awesome experience, if you get a chance to play here, do it. I'll definitely be back sometime.

This is most definitely a bucket list course. If you travel or are just in the area I highly recommend getting out and playing. I recently played pelican hill in California with ocean views and I prefer the Couer DโAlene course. The views were just outstanding. The island green is really fun. Way overpriced course! I played it on Sunday for the first time. They make you get a forecaddie which was a complete joke. The guy didnโt even clean our clubs. He was trying to pick up bugs on the green with our wedges. He didnโt even go with us at the end of our round to our car to unload our clubs and take the cart back. The only thing he did was tell us yardages when asked. Complete waste of money. They say a โmassage is includedโ in your round yet they expect tips. The course has some great views but that isnโt enough to get me to go back. Play Circling Raven. It is a much better course and itโs less than half the price.

Had an awesome day at the course! The carts are nice, service stellar. If it weren't for the smoke I bet the views would have been amazing. Our caddie, Keith, was a great asset! We are happy to have been, thanks for having us!

This is an awesome course with great views and in great condition. A bucket list course with the one of a kind floating green that my son and I wanted to play. Morgan, our caddy, and a member of the women's golf team at Eastern Washington University was so knowledgeable of the course layout and just a joy to have with us all day. In fact, the resort personnel are some of the friendliest and helpful people I have run across in the hospitality business.

Good condition very nice staff, excellent caddies. Although not worthy of the price. First off the course is on the shorter side so if you hit it long and are good with the short game you will eat this course up. The tips are all lined with low junipers that will snag any good low drive off the Tee. The greens were very hard as well, and almost everything hit to the green either bounded off or rolled back off. Putts on the other hand were much slower than one would expect from such hard greens. I gave this 4 stars because the course is in great shape, as it should be for the price they charge. I have not played all the greatest courses but I have played a few and I would say this is above a muni course but not by that much. It certainly does not justify the price no matter how nice the staff is or how nice the carts are. I can play a private course at home twice for the price of the one round and get pretty much the same conditions. Overall I will close saying you need to buy a new car at least once in your life and you need to play a higher end course like this at least once in your lifetime as well even if itโs not worth the price. 4 stars, should be 140 per round not 255.

We absolutely love this course! We were traveling through the area and knew we just had to take time to try this course.ย We had seen all the details on the website so we kinda knew what to expect. But WOW! It was even better than we expected!ย All the details that were included into the price did not go unnoticed. What a great experience!ย It made a perfect day on our week long vacation. Definitely a highlight of our trip! Thanks again.๐

Amazing golf experience. The lakefront holes, and obviously the floating green, are spectacular. Some of the inland holes aren't as memorable, but the course conditions are superb and you can shoot a good score so it all adds up to a fun day.

This course is about 7 great holes, a floating green gimmick hole, and a bunch filler to make a round. The conditioning is very good, and I'm glad I played it once, but will not be back. One thing that was a huge turn off is the driving range with it's floating balls on the lake. The caddie told us proudly of how boats drive through it and the floating balls get lost, and how they turn up on the Oregon coast. Guess I'm just not cool enough to be stoked on plastic pollution going into our water. Circling Raven was so much better in every way.

Great resort course! Golfed here several times and always enjoy it. I was by myself and got paired up with another 2 some and had a great time. This time it was the most enjoyable because our Forecaddie "E" was outstanding. He made the round even more fun and provided all 3 of us great service. He deserves to be recognized for is great customer service and attitude. Will be back again this summer!

Horrible horrible horrible customer service. We didnโt even make it to our room before canceling our reservation. We had a wedding at their golf course at 3:00pm. I called the day before and asked if we could check in before 4:00pm, the manager said she would put us down for a 1:00pm arrival but they couldnโt guarantee a room ready by then. She said they had places we could get ready if it was not ready. We arrived at 1:30pm and they said they wouldnโt have it ready for a while. Didnโt give us a place to get ready. Staff was rude. I am 30 weeks pregnant and they sent us to our car to wait for a text. I tried calling a manager and she was rude as well and said she never guaranteed anything. At 2:40pm we canceled and got a room at the Holiday Inn Express... the room was a fraction of the price, probably not a nice (I never entered a room at the CDL resort), BUT they had staff who cared! Who wanted to help and provide the best custom service they could. If you care about being treated with respect and care, donโt go here.

Sunday breakfast at the floating green restaurant was a disappointment. I have been there many times but last Sunday, service was definitely lacking. Beginning of meal, coffee served as requested but had to ask for napkins
and spoon for cream. Later received meal but no silverware. Requested it but response was so slow that I had to find a server & wait next to kitchen to receive it. I was handed 2 forks but just one knife and was told they only had one.
My wife was with me so I said I wanted two knives. The response was Iโll look and see if we can find another. Second knife was later brought but it was wet from washing. Additional coffee was another odd thing. I had to ask for more as it was never offered. Upon leaving, there was no response from any employee. No thank you, see you again, have a good day, nothing.
What happened to the service?

I played on a Saturday morning and it was an amazing experience. Loved the grass and the course setup. The course is built really well for such a small property. Greens were slower than I expected, but perfectly consistent. Having the forecaddie (Brian) made everything very smooth. Definitely enhanced the experience and I shot better because of him. Overall, probably the best golfing experience I've ever had. It's ironically not too difficult of a course, although the wind wasn't blowing that day.
Get there early before the sun peaks over the hills to get the best practice range experience!

My family visited here yesterday for a 420pm tee time. With a 630pm dinner reservation at there restaurant. The course was beautiful.
Our caddy was very helpful. We ended up playing 9 holes. Kyle the caddy was awesome guiding us to the specific holes we wanted to play.
To the restaurant part. ..
We arrived at 630pm Sharp. Seated immediately. Ordered an appetizer and drinks.
I also ordered water for everyone.
There were 2 other tables occupied when we arrived. 1 of the tables already had there food.
We ordered our entrees. I ordered the filet. $41.
We received our food promptly.
However a steak knife didn't come with my steak. The server never checked back. Had to use a regular knife to cut my steak.
Also I had to get up 3 times to find someone to help.
1. To get our water.
2. To ask for pepper.
3. To ask for a dessert menu.
When ordering dessert I asked if they had vanilla ice cream to go with the chocolate cake. Server didn't know.
Server came back to clear the entree plates 5 minutes later and I asked again about the ice cream. She still didn't know.
Server then brought the check before the dessert was served.
Bill for 4 with 1 kids meal was $142.
With no steak knife.
I was very disappointed with the service. And they were not even busy.
So very sad.

So much fun! I'm a beginner golfer and it was worth every penny. Having played Tiger Woods 2006, I was familiar with the virtual course at Coeur D'alene... the floating green on 14 was as awesome as I anticipated. Laramie, our caddie, was a blast and made the day 100x better. If he's working, request him. Super down to earth, funny, and made our experience that much better. You won't be disappointed.

Golf course was extremely disappointing...not in great shape. Fairways were hacked up with lots of poa. Tee boxes were recently vertical cut and in bad shape. Copper tee boxes do not exist on every hole. Card does not match distance for copper. Very disappointed $250 for a round of golf on a basic municipal style golf course (back 9 very boring). With the elimination of copper tees, this course is not for a strong woman golfer.

A lovely view, but a mediocre visit. We called ahead and requested/reserved the table with the best view and in the shade - outside. What we got was a table close to the building that looked through the table between us and the water and a partly sunny table as we were on the edge (which is fine - I was more mad that they didn't save us a table on the outside since we called ahead and reserved that). Our server Johnny did a great job, was friendly and personable. The Huckleberry mimosas were wonderful and the food was quite decent. Our biggest complaint was that they don't serve brunch through the afternoon on Sunday. We made the trek out for Huckleberry pancakes and were disappointed that they didn't offer them. Also the dock where we moored was in total disorey. Boards were poking up and some were so damaged that they had been removed. The docks were at least clean, but someone had cleaned (blasted) them with a pressure washer - which drew lines everywhere. You may want to invest in a surface cleaning head for your pressure washer (a basin that attaches to the spray nozzle that'll reduce this unsightly damage). As a "world class resort" I just expect better than I got on this visit. We will be back. Hopefully next time we aren't as disappointed.

This course has been on the bucket list and I was finally able to scratch it off. A very enjoyable round of golf at one of the nicest layouts I have played.
