We take an annual men's golf trip and this year we chose Eagle Ridge in Galena. On the way we stopped at Aldeen CC in Rockford. The course was absolutely fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable to play. The value was incredible as well. I was not unhappy with the amount I payed to play with a riding cart.

The one complaint I have is that the driving range did not open until 11am. Our tee time was at 11am so we did not have the ability to warm up properly apart from hitting some putts on the practice green. I personally do not like not being able to warm up hitting full shots. This is the only reason I did not give Aldeen 5 stars. If the range would have been open it would be a 5 star review no questions asked!

For fall play this course was one of the best kept. The greens were in great shape and pretty well cleaned up as far as ball marks. The pace of play was right on. The staff is fantastic. The on course bathrooms are so well cleaned. Over the last hole being a narrow Par 5 and being costly on the score card, this place is a must return. Had a great time. Will definately be back. Thank you everyone there.

I don’t really ever write bad reviews but I scheduled a tee time today online as a single player for 9 holes and a cart. I mistakenly paid for a half cart which I just thought was for 9 holes. I got there checked in was given the key for the golf cart and then when I was at the tee box I was told I needed to put my clubs in the persons cart whom I’ve never met before and they paired me up with. Biggest thing is you could have asked me to pay the probably $10 difference if that. The employees in the clubhouse were great and refunded my money. Sad thing is I live less than a 1/4 mile from this course and will never go there again and will make sure all of my friends and myself whom are business owners to not do their playdays there.

I recently went to sinnissippi to watch my grandson in jr golf. I have seen all his matches this summer. I was disappointed that there were no golf carts available for us senior citizens. I am 74 years old and it is difficult to walk 9 holes. I thought maybe I could watch a few holes. I was explaining the situation to Dave Copp of how frustrated I was. We need to support these young kids with family around them. We need to encourage them whether they are playing good or not. Motivation for them is a key factor to keep trying and don’t give up just because of a few bad swings. Dave listened very closely to my story. He said wait a few minutes. He proceeded to free up a golf cart for me to use. That was an awesome kindness by him. He is more of what we need to continue support of these young kids. He has my vote for employee of the week. Thanks again Dave for showing compassion towards me. You are certainly one of a kind. Dave was a coach from Aldeen. That’s what makes it so special.

Aldeen Golf Club is easily the best value in IL. $60 with cart for the weekend rate is absolutely fantastic for a course of this quality. They have 5 tees ranging from 7,135 to 5,075. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are kept in immaculate condition. The greens are fast but very consistent. The driving range is real grass which is a huge bonus. Marshalls frequently circle the course so the pace is great. I can't say enough good things about this course.

Still getting golf balls through the machine so bring your credit card or cash. I think that's probably how it'll be from now on out. We hit off the mats for driving and that was good. Conditions were great if you were a windsock. But thw sun was out and swinging the club felt winderful!! We stopped off at the Pro Shop, nothing to speak of. Don't waste your time at this point. They are waiting for displays to be finished then they will put product out. . .

Whoever is running the show regarding decisions on cart fees are very greedy.

They wanted me to pay $38 for a cart for 18 on top of greens fees. Which was because I was going to take a cart solo and the other guy I was playing with was walking. So they required me to pay for 2 people riding when I was the only rider.

I've played golf around the world for over over 30 years. Never had that happen.

Aldeen Golf Club is a Rockford Municipal course and a Top Five public golf course in illinois. The club house is large and well designed within the past few years. It has an excellent outdoor patio area overlooking the 18th. Near the patio is an outdoor stage area for bands playing at night. Was on the 18th as sun was almost fully set and a band was playing which was a cool experience at the end of the round. Course is very well designed. Challenging but fair. Larger landing zones but other challenging aspects to even it out. Maintenance was fantastic and staff was very friendly. I live in Chicago but make the hour and half drive with no hesitation. Plus half the cost of the other top tier illinois courses.

Easily the best course within 50 miles and for the price I can't think of one better. Don't let the beautiful floral landscape fool you, this golf course will beat you down if you let it. If you're going to miss a shot make sure you miss them into the neighboring fairways if possible. In most places a bad shot will lead to a lost ball, if you manage to hit any treelines good luck with the variety of issues from sand traps, mounds, juicey rough, and/or dense shrubbery. If you hit the fairways you're rewarded with plush grass that feels like carpet, the grounds here really underscore the beautiful midwest turf we get to golf in the summers. Greens are well kept and challenging, they rival many private clubs with the variety of challenges you face from speed, size, shapes, and tiers. The gold tips play 7400+ yards and among many classic and modern style holes, there's an awesome island par 3 tha has a rendition of the famous Swilken Bridge from St. Andrew's. Aldeen will not disappoint.

I've played some pretty nice courses in WI, IL, MI & even Mexico and Hawaii. Aldeen is one of the best, if not THE best for the facility offerings vs. price combination. It is northern Illinois' jewel.

But, if you played it in 2018, it was in the worst condition I've seen in years, . . . all due to the weather. I played on several area courses incl. 2 country clubs. They were no better if not worse.

Let's hope 2019 is a lot better year. Duncan, any idea when when the estimated opening will be in April?

This is the best public golf course in the state as far as I'm concerned. Course is beautiful and well maintained. I drive 2 hours to play here. Golf carts are very powerful and plush, they have GPS and you can email your score to yourself from the cart. The grill is superb!

Pretty good course. Had to rent clubs since I'm from Houston and the rental clubs sucked compared to other places I've been. Most places rent nice Callaway or Taylor made. These were cheap Wilson. Not even the good Wilson clubs out there. Overall condition was pretty good. No cart attendants to be able to purchase beverages or snacks while on the course.
