My husband sent a letter to cancel his membership in October. My husband has been checking and messaging them weekly and they responded and said they lost the key to their mailbox and can’t open it, and also stated that the letter doesn’t count until it’s “received” and time stamped. So my husband’s still being charged. Ridiculous. Not our fault that you lost your key. Management needs to do better, this is unethical practice.

I have found the auto-renewal cancellation process to be exceptionally difficult and predatory.

1. Communication Failure: I have received no confirmation or written response from management after filing a complaint regarding the auto-renewal via BBB.org

2. Unnecessary Barriers: After speaking to a staff member about canceling my contract, I was told I must come in to complete the process on November 29th. This is an unnecessary barrier; I should be able to submit a signed document via email on file.

3. Policy Warning: Prospective members need to be aware of how inflexible and challenging this policy is.

I personally see the gym denied cancellation request to another member who could not come in due to their spouse being hospitalized, filter the Google reviews and you will see it.

I urge potential members to be extremely cautious about the contract terms and the lack of support provided when trying to end a membership.

Small location, smelly bathrooms, and to top it all off, when I went to the restroom, there was turd sitting in the toilet that looked like it was there for days !!! They told me I wasn't a member to their gym when I tried to cancel. So I reached out to my old gym to cancel. They said I am all good to go as I completed my one year commitment. Then Lombard Anytime continued to bill me. They said I am now a member of the Lombard gym, and had not fulfilled my new year long contract that I never signed. They have predatory memberships and will send you to collections if you ever want to get out of their contracts.

I’ve been to a few anytime fitness’s over the last couple years. I finally rejoined anytime fitness last month, I’m not of fan of the giant gyms. I really love this gym the manger Ally says hi and knows my name every time I walk in. She really makes you feel welcomed.

The gym has many specialty bars, but the safest squat bar , is missing the neck pad. Also all the bars are stored behind the power rack good luck getting to those bars when someone already working out in that rack. Otherwise very nice gym.

Came last Saturday to this location kinda of small, but has a few things like my main location doesn't hack the v squat machine and a sit down shrug machine which is awesome will be back atleast once a week here to do my legs it was clean and I saw a cleaning guy taking the garbage out and cleaning 5he bathroom, so I know this place is up to date with their cleaning and hygiene. I’ve been using this gym for years. Recently its is under new management and Allie is knocking it out of the park! It is the cleanest and most organized I have ever seen. Gym equipment wise I do wish they had more plate machines for back and chest but do understand it’s a smaller gym and space is at premium for equipment.

Won’t allow you to cancel your membership through phone call or email even after new law was passed in Illinois stating that gym memberships must now be able to be cancelled through these methods. If I can cancel any other subscription online then why is a gym membership any different? They even give the option to do it on their website yet they’ll refer you to their area manager who will then tell you that you MUST go in person.

Overall a nice small gym, if a bit cramped. It has all the basics for strength training, cardio and others as well. Had to go here in a pinch as my other gym was closed for some reason. Classes are not offered, even though that is advertised when you sign up. The cleanliness is not what it used to be, either. I absolutely LOVED anytime fitness.
This location is disgusting, ethics wise.
They have hidden fees. Which, it's stated in the contract, yes, but they don't tell you the $$ amount that they'll charge you. $10 for a late fee, and another hidden $19.

Then, when you call and complain about it, and they offer you a month free, they will still charge you within that month. Dariusz was the one who told me this.

Been member here for about 3-4 years? Used to be okay, but now it straight up sucks. they started cutting out classes. Stuff is always broken or breaking with no obvious intentions of fixing anything. Bathrooms are never quite clean. I don't know when, but they stopped putting out towels for wiping down the machines. All they have is a paper towel roll that's perpetually on it's last 4 sheets. So naturally no one wipes down the machines anymore. And of course this is never enforced! This place is a disgusting petri dish

The washing machine is broken and they're too cheap to fix it. Even though I'm sure this gym takes in a lot of money. Especially when they "accidentally" bill you for extra things or services not rendered. Then they make it a logistical nightmare to get YOUR money back! Typical scummy gym practices. Taking your money is the only thing they're good at.

These people think it's okay to give you less bang for your buck, so why would you stay here? (I'm guessing because its a convenient location, but that's all it's got going for it anymore)

Just last week, i waited while a bathroom was being cleaned. When I went in, the toiled hadn't even been cleaned. It was skidmark city in that toilet. Honestly though, it's very fitting. This gym is a skidmark of its former self.

DON'T GO HERE. You might catch a disease.

This was my home gym for a year, and when I moved back in the area I was so excited to get back to Lombard north. The community was crucial for loving this location but also it WAS the cleanest. It was very clean up until about a month ago. I don’t know what happened but the bathrooms are disgusting and the floor is always dirty now, it’s always disorganized. I have to organize to start my workout. The staff used to be on top of getting people to clean equipment, but half the people working out just walk away from equipment without cleaning or re-racking. The old manager Evelyn and even some do the personal trainers used to call that out. This place really went down hill. Sorry guys but this is surprising for your location. The community is gone and it feels trashy like many other anytime fitness.

What a dump! Such an absolute shame. I travel a lot for work and one of my favorite things about Anytime is that I have access to all locations. While my schedule might be all over the place, this allows my exercise to stay somewhat routine. The location on North Ave is the closest to my home and when I moved here I felt so lucky to have such a nice gym so close. Every time I came in I was greeted by people who knew my name and a facility that was clean and orderly. As soon as ownership changed and the woman who was running things was shouldered out things immediately went downhill. I cannot remember the last time I saw anyone actually working at this location. Half of the equipment is broken, the bathrooms are disgusting, and there's no one to contact if you have issues. Today I came in and miraculously saw someone working. Only to be told that the bathrooms were all clogged and over flowing and he was trying to get ahold of management to see what to do. I will sadly be finding a new gym after this. While I know all gyms are out for money, maybe find one that's not so obvious about it.

This gym used to be great. But the new owner won't fix anything, including the massage beds. They don't provide cleaning materials like they used to. The new owner came in and only cares about taking members money. We just paid a club enhancement fee and nothing's been enhanced.

Note: An update since 2018. The gym is the best I've ever been a member of. With a staff that is dedicated to a clean, safe gym, and being interactive with their members (via social media), this AF is fantastic. The equipment is rarely, if ever, down (and if it is, repairs are speedy). There is plenty of equipment for a variety of health goals: from endurance, to athletic, to bodybuilding, etc.

Overall, it's just a top notch gym the area is blessed to have. I hope I am honored to be a member for years to come, and encourage anyone looking to join a local gym in the Lombard/Villa Park area, to check this place out. You won't be disappointed.

It is very unfortunate I have to write this, from a perspective of someone who actually works out frequently. Been a long time member of anytime fitness and have been coming to this club for well over a year because it was one of the best. However it is starting to become a joke. Seems to me all the new ownership cares about is filling their wallets with money and pushing memberships.. Water massage beds have been broken for over a month, supplements have disappeared and even the paper towels are now gone......what's next, the sanitizer?? I even heard the new owners are cutting back the cleaning staffs hours...it's very sad but typical of large LLC's who run these clubs. Just paid my "gym enhancement" fee.....for what to give the owners a bonus?? All I can say is sad and disappointed...may have to consider moving my membership elsewhere.

Amazing staff, Clean Gym, all the equipment you need from free weights to cardio. You never really have to battle someone for the weights as its its usually. However recently there has been a change in guest privileges from bringing them in using a guest pass or paying 10$ to now no guests allowed unless they use a 7 day free trial and after they have to get a membership. This is a dissapointing change as bringing a workout buddy makes the gym more fun and could help be a spotter for weight lifting. Most commercial gyms allow guest privileges this gym taking it away is a step in the wrong direction. Its Itsfrustrating that this change occured after 1 month of switching to this gym.

Best anytime fitness gym ever! I’ve tried others but nothing compared to this one. The staff is the nicest! Even though I only went a few times in the morning because I always go at night but it felt good to be greeted everytime. Also it’s the cleanest and the most well organized gym. I’ve visited a few different locations to see which Anytime best fits me and I can say that the Lombard location is by far the cleanest, most organized, and such a welcoming gym. I feel the most comfortable here. The staff is incredibly friendly and they are always checking in making sure that we all feel safe and comfortable. Unlike other locations, this gym provides individual sanitizing bottles and towels which I believe to be very effective.

My wife is a doctor in a geriatric ward in a hospital. I am not going to a public gym however was unable to cancel my membership and am locked in. I am more than willing to pay the balance of my membership now or some sort of cancellation fee but have been unable to get anyone who can actually help.

Horrible customer service. Did not tell me about their hidden fees until they took the money from me and did not refund it after I told them. Very disappointed as my prior anytime fitness did not hide anything and explained everything. Fee's were not explained, even when i asked 2-3 times if they were going to be changed or if there will be extra fees compared to prior agreement at other anytimefitness gym, and the answer was a "no". What a great location. I am an active member of the Anytime Fitness Family. Although this is not my regular club I often squeeze in a quick work out from time to time based upon my work location for the day. Bouncing around from club to club has never really been hard but from being in more than a dozen or so you can tell which club owners care and which ones do not. This club is a great size and really well kept. The equipment all looked in great shape and well maintained. I actually wish I lived closer to this location because I would visit this one more often.

I joined Anytime Fitness because it is associated with the Silver Sneakers program. I find the facility very convenient and close to home. I like the friendly staff who are always glad to see you. The facility has a complete array of exercise equipment. The fact that it's open 24 hours is great. The $40 lifetime membership fee can't be beat. Highly recommend Anytime Fitness!

Each Anytime fitness is individually owned and they will make up rules not explicitly stated in the contract. Do not sign up without verifying what their individual rules are! Staff was not helpful and they are definitely in the business of taking your money regardless of the situation.

I was very indecisive about joining a gym but once I came the staff made me so comfortable and at ease with starting my fitness journey. I’ve gone to another gym in the area but none show the quality and customer service like Anytime Fitness. All the machines are well kept and it’s so clean, my favorite part is the studio, because it’s a private area that you can can workout at! All in all this is the best gym in the area, totally worth it. And they also have classes for members and the hydro massage is AMAZING.

This is not even my home gym...unfortunately I live to far but this is the BEST anytime I’ve been to (I travel a lot and have been to many anytimes around NW suburbs) however this one is by far the best. Equipment, layout , cleanliness , staff, you name it!
I wish they would open up a closer one in the north Hoffman estate and duplicate their current set up! Great gym!

Great facility with all the equipment anyone could ask for. The showers are personal, so no sharing required, and very clean. The water massage bed is a great post workout touch!

I have to give this gym 1 star, because I left with a bad impression of the management, before I could use the facility. Very poor guest policy (there is no guest policy). Drop in fee is $10 (why should I have to pay to bring a guest). In order to sign up for a "one week free trial" you need to provide credit card information which automatically opts you into payments, sign a contract, and best of all, you need a down payment. Yes, you need a down payment in order to activate a one week free trial. My local Anytime Fitness doesn't have these bizarre and inconvenient policies.

I got first Anytime Fitness membership and became Anytimer here in this gym club. I travelled all around US by staying in each state for a while, and had been in many Anytime Fitness clubs. But i make you sure that definitely this club is Number one not only in Chicago city or Illinois state, but among all clubs in all states of USA where i was in. This club can be an example to all Anytime Fitness clubs. All what sportsmen need for good training can be found here, but unfortunately not in other Anytime fitness clubs. This advantages are such as water station, judo rubber bands, a lot of things for stretching, then massage chair, clean and big shower rooms, and the most important is all kind of barbells, dumbells, isolation machines, running treadmills, and etc. The management and stuff of this Fitness is amazing especially Ms. Eveline who is always trying to help and always polite and in high spirit.
I surely recommend this gym.

I drive an extra 20 minutes from my home where there is an anytime fitness down the street, specifically because of the care put into this location. The staff is friendly, the gym is maintained to a luxury quality, the effort exerted by management is clearly shown in the ambience of the club, and the customer attention is clearly displayed in every section of the club. Everything is kept to a new degree of quality as well as a direct presence that the club is there to outdo others in the area as well as exceed your expectations of a gym. Highly recommend this location if you haven’t been.

This Anytime Fitness has a great array of machines, is clean, and spacious. There is also a nice amount of supplements available for purchase as well as a free massage machine. This location also has a studio and plenty of cardio machines. Parking and wifi are also available.

I have been a member for a little over a month. This is the first gym I joined. I was contemplating between this & Planet Fitness. I’m glad I made the right choice and joined Anytime. It’s never overcrowded and it’s always kept clean. I usually go at night therefore I rarely see the staff, but from the 2 times I’ve gone early, the manager Evelyn makes you feel welcomed which is uncommon nowadays.
