I was a member in the Naperville location that closed down. My account was transferred to Darien, but I cancelled due to distance. My son also had a summer membership in 2020 while home from College that was attached to mine. We cancelled his membership at the front desk 1-1/2 years ago, but because we did not "officially" receive a notification the Avolve "system" began charging my son once again.

We cancelled his membership, he hasn't been in the location in ~18 months yet now they require us to pay past due fee's all because their front desk person of a now closed location did not put the cancellation through properly.

incredibly frustrating, Watch Yourself with this company. Person I am speaking with is quite friendly, but has no power and there is apparently NO ONE authorized or higher up to escalate the issue.

Avolve Fitness is a scam!!! If your a member, your trapped! While I'm sure the equiotment is present, if for any reason you try to cancel, they will avoid you, lie to you, and still charge your card after they tell you your membership is canceled. In some cases they send you to collections. This is the real reason they are in business, to trap members in a scam. The gym is a front. Avoid joining this, or any other discount gym at all cost. The Avolve Darien location is awesome. The gym is always clean. Even during peak hours it’s still easy to get access to any machines or weights you need. The staff is fantastic. Chris has gone out of his way multiple times to help me out personally. Highly recommend. A+.

Getting anyone to answer the phone is impossible. Some staff is phenomenal, some staff members seem very young and unhelpful. I called months ago to cancel my membership, and was told I will be charged one extra month, then my membership will be cancelled. Three months later, I realized I was still being charged. I called and after numerous days of trying, someone answered, cancelled my account (again) and made note to have the manager call me. Now I have paid 5 additional months. When I am able to get someone to answer, they always say they will leave a message and the manager Josh will call me but I have yet to receive a call, or be able to get in contact with him.

If cancelling, I would advise doing it in person with written proof instead of over the phone.

Just found out that my monthly fee was being charged without my knowledge since the buyout of the previous gym. Probably over a year. I had cancelled my membership prior to the handover. When I called the Darien gym the employee verified that I could not get a refund and that had to have proof of my cancellation. Kind of hard to cancel your account when they have the wrong email on file.

I originally purchased a member ship from Workout Anytime 24/7. Right in the middle, without so much as a text, email, phone call or letter the club was sold to and became Avolve Fitness. No notice. No options. Nothing. I stopped in and asked to speak with a manager (they were closed to remodel at the time) and was told no one was available so I left my name and #. No one returned my call. I called several days later and got the same results. I specifically joined that club and prepaid a two year premium membership-first mistake so that I could use a location while at home, 55 miles away and a location while at work in Darien. Now I've hot nothing. Lousy management. Stay away.

Very disappointed about this gym system.
After a few attempts of trying to cancel member ship I thought I did. By checking my banking I found out that they kept charging me already over a year. Cancelation process is not proved. I was told I need to come and sign cancelation paper, which I did. But they never finish processing cancelation. Therefore, after over a year now they are telling me to find that paper and show them as a prove. Hope they grow their business of Clients like me . Good luck. 👍

BAD MANAGEMENT ! As a member I will not recommend this place to anyone for one particular reason. And that's the way this place is managed. If you express some of your concerns or issues, it sounds like they're doing you a favor just for listening. There's always issues with the temperature because the thermostats are placed in the office, not in the gym. That's why the system isn't operating properly. If you sweat and the air is blowing you feel like it's 60 degrees inside, but some people feel like it's 90. You express your concerns and there is a negative reaction because you're asking someone to fix the problem? And it sounds like they're doing you a big favor just for touching a button on the thermostat. As a customer I'm coming here to relax and enjoy my workout, not to get attitude and try to be lectured by the staff member Daryl, who tells me the same thing over and over. When I signed up with him, I was told that this place will also have a sauna after 4 months still nothing .There is issues with some of the equipment, elements are falling off, not properly attached, and it's not the cleanest place either. When you walk in the staff is always unhappy, doesn't socialize, not sure what the issue is, but you don't feel much positive energy. The best person that ever worked here was a guy named Josh, always happy and friendly, and a very respectful gentleman. He tried to give you advice, offering help, ever since he left, this place is upside down, zero interest in the customers, and bad communication skills. Staff spend more time on the phone . To much headache not worth it .

I I have been a member at avolve fitness in Darien for approximately 3 years now. I started there originally to lose some weigt, and get in shape. Besides the fact that I have seen progress in myself in the last 3 years, I have seen a vast improvement in this facility in the last 6 months. There is a new general manager who's doing an amazing job with this specific location. He seems that he is focused mostly on building the staff, and relationships with of the members. The staff members that he has brought on to this location are very enjoyable as well. They seemed to work together as a team instead of individualy against each other. They are very professional, and i honestly am very happy at this location. I look forward to seeing what it has in store in the future.

Every time I’ve visited the gym in the last 3 weeks there nothing to clean the machines with. I’ve complained to the staff multiple times.

The response is they are “phasing out” paper towels but the replacement isn’t even available yet. They are too cheap to walk 10 feet next door to Walgreen and get paper towels to ensure the health of their gym members.

This is unacceptable. Sweat is human body FLUIDS which contains dirt and toxins. It’s flu season, there’s nothing available clean the machines because Avolve wants to be cheap. They obviously don’t care and are willing to risk the health of their members.

This is a gym that I would recommend to anyone looking for an unorganized personal trainer. They do not respect trainers trying to get organized and inappropriately flirt with their employees causing them to be uncomfortable. If you aren’t sure whether or not you want to join them for long term or not, don’t use them. I tried to cancel my membership after a few months because Im saving up for a wedding and they did not just charge me for the extra month they said they would due to policy. Instead they charged me the same fee three times in less than a month, all after I canceled my membership. I went in to cancel it the first time and they said they’ll take care of it. Then I got a call from them saying they accidentally deleted my card info and needed it so that they can charge me for that extra month I signed for on the contract. Then, after seeing they charged me twice, I called them and they said not to worry and that they will refund me for the extra charge. Now here we are only 2 weeks after the extra charge was taken out of my account (one that they NEVER refunded me for), and they charged me AGAIN for the third time!! It’s almost as if they are getting the buttons confused when it comes to dealing with peoples money...

I really want to like this place more...but the older it gets, the more I seem to dislike it. It is really convenient for me, so I won't necessarily stop going unless I can find something else, but the upkeep is my biggest gripe.

I don't believe this place is clean. I know the bathroom urinal was filthy for two months and smelled awful. I haven't checked recently, for obvious reasons, but not much I can do about it. The water fountain is a bacteria haven, but since I don't carry a swab with me, I can't prove it. Still...ugh.

My other complaint is that I feel like there is at least one thing wrong with about 80% of the machines. Sometimes minor, but it might be a wonky sound plug, or a wobbly machine, or a loose hand grip...but all things that either interfere with my workout or make me have to be more careful on a machine. Just doesn't seem like I should have to do that.

I'm really hoping it gets better...but if I can find a new place close, I would probably jump in a heartbeat.

Pros:
- This gym is one the cleanest gyms I’ve ever been a member at. The staff is always cleaning.
- There are tons of machines from cardio to weights machines. Basically anything you need for a great workout.
- The staff is super friendly and the front desk staff actually enjoy working here. I used to be a member at Xsport and it seemed all the front desk did was sit on their phone.
- You can’t beat the price of this facility. They offer everything other gyms in the area have for a fraction of the price.
- The trainers are amazing. Been working with Ethan for the last 6 months and not only does he really know his stuff he’s a great motivator.

Cons:
- Every so often when the gym is busy the WiFi is pretty slow.
- I wish there was heavier dumbbells. Dumbbells only go up to 100lbs.

Overall this is one of the best gyms I’ve ever been to. They offer a great gym at a great price. Like I mentioned I used to be a member at Xsport and after switching the only thing I miss if the dumbbells over 100lbs. Other than that this gym is hands down better.

I have been a member of this location for the last 3 years. Before finding Workout Anytime I was a member at a couple other gyms in the area and they don’t compare to the experience you get here. First off the staff is absolutely amazing here. They love working for the company and are always very friendly. That’s probably why this place is so clean. I always workout in the morning and always see Irene cleaning and greeting members. I used to be a member of xsport and I just couldn’t deal with how crowded it was. This gym isn’t near as crowded and has all the same equipment. After about a near of joining I finally convinced my husband to change over from xsport (he was worrried about the free weight area) and he has been much happier not having to fight over benches and weights. Highly reccommend this gym. We both love this place. Best in the area. 👍🏼

Before I tell you about the worst treatment, let me tell you that you can't cancel your membership ! So I signed up and got the worst treatment ever, 5 months later I asked to cancel, told that I have to send a letter to Bridgeview to cancel, meanwhile I froze my membership. sent the letter, 3 months later I realized the y are still charging me so I canceled again, called the gym and cancelled with them as well. they kept charging me. I froze my credit card on file and they still called and harassed and threatened , i talked to everyone there and i compliant via email . i kept getting threats every time they call of how they can screw my credit and I can get hurt if I don't pay. One time I got a nice girl who promised to take care of it, a week later I got another call again threatening and when i told they what the girl told me they said she does not know what she is talking about ! I WAS NEVER TOLD I SHOULD SEND IT CERTIFIED AND NOW THEY CLAIM THEY DON'T HAVE ANYTHING ON RECORDS!

I emailed and complaint and this time I was told that I should show a my receipt for a certified mail letter that I sent to bridgeview ! What the hec!!!

This is the worst place in the history of fitness centers! nothing they tell you when you sign up is real, watch out what they make you sign. the day I signed up they told me about all great options I could have. I signed for plus 1 so I can bring in a guest occasionally. The manager who signed me up was nice and told me I have the right to bring a guest every time, Told him I want to be able to bring my teenager son every once in a while and he said I can completely do that and the day I brought my son with me , I was yelled at like a little kid by a girl not over 18 years old . it was so embarrassing. My teenager son turned red and just wanted to leave!

I told them i want to cancel so many time, cancellation is so complicated and they will go around it. to this day I am paying a membership that I haven't used in 8 months! They are cheaters and worst customer services ever, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
I will complaint to every single authority that is out there. this place should close down.

I signed up OK with Matt. He set up a 4pm appt with the trainer, Krista, the following week. All of the things I requested! I called to confirm the same day of my appt and, Matt, who answered the phone said that "the person who signed you up set it up with Ethan for 2:30pm. WTH? I guess some of the bad reviews were true. I hope my membership plan doesn't change now. I'll be watching...thanks for the heads up!

I cancelled my gym membership here and they still kept billing me afterwards. After I had my bank block them, they started charging me extra "because I did not make my last payment". I had the basic membership so because of this, they charged me 60 dollars since it had been six months later, and I did still not have my payment. Ridiculous, considering I had written a letter stating I was discontinuing my membership. They just want your money. So don't waste your time.

Just to know Nikola Tesla had the idea "wireless system" in the 1990s... They are totally lying.....
the company just wants to steal money from us. All the paperwork you signed are just jokes....they keep what they want to keep and trashed the one they don’t want to keep...then when you are there telling them you want to see the paperwork, they tell you they don’t have it so they denied what they agreed with you before. Personal training is totally a scam! Don’t ever sign for that! Purchased 32 and they still keep charging you for another 80 class! How I am going to finish all 80 classes in a year?! Yes! All personal training classes expire in a year! Who tell me that?! After I find out they charged me for another 80 classes, I went there and argued with them. However, the answer is not refundable and all the classes will expire in a year! The contract you signed is a lie! They use their computer to sign you up and set up an automatic payment with your card without letting you know since they already have all your information! Be aware!
Now...I can’t get my money for 80 classes back and they force me to purchase another year of the membership in order to use my personal training classes! What a joke! Nobody tell me all the classes will expire in a year! Nobody tell me they will secretly steal your money!
The company is just a joke! Cheater!
The only words they will tell you in the store is “the person who signed you up is no longer work here so I don’t know!”
Totally mad with the company and want my money back!
Don’t ever run a business like this! Cheater!
Please! Find someone who can help us! Get our money back!
Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to get my money back!

I really like this gym, the manager Mo was very personable when I came in to sign up and the gym is always very clean when I come in and doesn't smell like sweaty as some do.. It doesnt get crazy busy and they have cool classes too which I like when they fit into my schedule. Definitely would recommend

This place always smells dirty, like they never clean it. It's very small and they have way too many machines for its size. The music is very very loud, even with earphones on I could still hear the music.

This gym is great. It's got everything you need and more. The freeweights are plentiful and the dumbbells go up to 100 lbs. They have an awesome sled/parachute machine and the staff is always extremely helpful. Would highly recommend.
