What an amazing gym! I am a level 1 coach that dropped in for the week since I was visiting Bloomington for the week. What initially interested me was the level 3 coaches. I wanted to see and compare differences. What I saw made me want to attend every day. The coaches all had fun and take the workout seriously by having it memorized. They never once looked at the screen behind them. This allowed them to concentrate on the athletes and help them improve technique. You could tell they had fun but remained focus on leading us through challenging workouts.

Additionally, Drew has set up the gym to allow the community to workout together. Some workouts, we faced each other. Some were along side each other. The athletes pushed each other. And we laughed together. And we razzed the coaches every once in a while. They handled it and laughed with us.

Finally, Drew really cares about the athletes and wants them to excel to the best of their ability. He ensures that no one gets hurt by focusing on the movement and scaling it as needed while maintaining the goal. He makes you fee on top of the world that you can do anything because of his inspirational demeanor. You leave not wanting to let him down. I hope I can bring so much of this back with me to our gym. I made friends at Be String that will be friends for life.

This is such a great gym with well rounded programming and awesome coaches! I have been booking appointments through Performance Recovery Physical Therapy with Dr. Emily Whitted, and couldn’t be happier with my progress. Three months ago I broke my ankle. Emily has worked with me through non weight bearing, partial weight bearing, full weight bearing and just made it possible for me to complete my first workout at Be Strong this week! I am feeling great and am so thankful for Dr. Whitted and Performance Recovery.

The coaches and crew at Be Strong are always there to keep me accountable and teach me when to learn. Their nutrition program is so simple it makes sense. The CrossFit classes initially felt intimidating but eventually have begun to feel like gym class (if you remember Presidential Fitness Testing). All in all, it’s a great place to meet dedicated, respectful, helpful, hard working peers that are physically superior in almost every way.

I HIGHLY recommend Be Strong! Their fitness coaching is so supportive, and the atmosphere is welcoming, regardless of your fitness level. I found Be Strong almost 5 years ago (this June) and I cannot say enough good things about this gym. Honestly, it’s more than a gym, it’s community of people coming together to make each other better (mentally, physically, and emotionally). Doing hard things with your friends makes it more fun. The coaches provide the most support I’ve ever experienced, not inside the gym, but outside the gym as well. Their attention to each individuals’ training, sleep, nutrition, and stress management is personalized and creates a meaningful relationship between coach and athlete. Personally, I’ve reached out for individual support and I can honestly say that I’m performing, sleeping, and eating better than ever before. Coaches who care makes a world of difference when reaching towards your goals and with their guidance and expertise, anything is possible. Their programming is top-notch—challenging yet perfectly scalable for all levels. What really impressed me was their nutrition coaching through Healthy Steps Nutrition (HSN), which my home gym also uses. Competitive masters CrossFit athlete - travel often, drop in often. Team here made dropping in super easy, welcoming, texted me the workout ahead of time. Gym was clean and organized, crew was welcoming. Coach/owner is an L3, lead a great warm up and primer.

It’s been almost a year now since I first walked into Be Strong Gym in Bloomington Illinois. I met with Drew and the other coaching staff Caleb Tish Dave, everybody at the gym are so phenomenal and so knowledgeable in their craft. I look at this similar to like a 401(k) it’s an investment in yourself. Like a 401(k), long-term participation will show compounding interest and pay dividends in your life. I rarely write reviews but this place deserves the time to write this. I travel I-55 frequently and make a point to drop in at this gym for an excellent workout and motivation. I have no reservations in confidently saying this gym is top-notch. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is motivating. The equipment is modern, well-maintained, and the coaching is the best you’ll get.

Drew Whitted, owner and head coach is always helpful and is genuinely passionate about fitness. These things and more are what sets Be Strong apart from others.

I dropped in from out of state for a 10 year reunion and needed to get a quick workout in. This was the only gym website that stood out to me the best in the Bloomington normal area, really good reviews, so I checked it out. I gave them a call, filled out the waiver, and was able to come in and train. All the equipment is very clean, organized, well-kept condition. The bathrooms were super clean as well! This gym was probably the most sanitized facility that I’ve been to in a while. The CrossFit coach was highly educated, very intelligent, freaking jacked, and just an overall genuine person. I wish I could stay at this gym forever! I highly recommend you check this out if you are in the Bloomington normal area.

This is a great gym! I was a former athlete from gymnastics, swimming, soccer, track/CC, and even participated in circus at ISU and needed to get back into competing. Now I do power training 3/7 days and try to do as many classes outside of those that I can and I love it! I was a Drop in. There is a TL/DR at the end.
Setting up the drop in was easy as the response times of my emails and questions were prompt.
When I got to the gym I was welcomed by members as we milled around awaiting class. Then Drew (one of the coaches) saw me and officially welcomed me. He showed me around and let me know what was to be needed for the warmup and workout.
On the docket was a barn-burner partner work out. I was immediately anxious as I realized that I may be the “new guy” and maybe would be partner-less. That fear disappeared in the next moment as Drew (with his deep and commanding voice) introduced me to the class and then assigned Brendan as my partner. My initial anxiety wilted away, then I realized that I would have to scale toes to bar and the prescribed weight for the press jerk. But again Drew came in and started listing scales for the TtB and let everyone know to use a challenging but doable weight.
Brendan and I worked out our split strategy (full disclosure, he did full TtB while I did hanging (sometimes kipping) knee raises).
It was a great workout with Drew even coaching me up on my press technique. (Sometimes coaches just leave drop ins alone) I appreciated the suggestion.
Overall, fun, professional, organized and efficient. Thank you to the Be Strong Blono CrossFit group!

I bought a used barbell from them and did a drop in workout. Emily was my partner and she was very informative and motivating. The equipment was in great condition, class was diverse with all fitness levels and ages, and the environment was very welcoming. The coach/owner was actively engaged during the whole workout and walked around giving critique on form or encouraging and motivating the athletes. I miss this gym! I spent 1.5 years here before moving out of state. After a decade of CrossFit on and off, I was at my fittest at Be Strong. The morning classes energized me for a full day of homeschool with five kids. The monthly Battle Tested Team motivated me to come in consistently for fun, challenging, and balanced workouts. I appreciated the deliberate programming with workout prep notes and different tracks and options to scale and meet goals. Each class is taught by excellent, encouraging, and knowledgeable coaches, especially owner Drew. Fundraisers and charity events make this gym caring and community-minded. The space and equipment is constantly improving, upgraded, and extremely clean. Everyone is very welcoming, supportive, and friendly. And Champ is the cutest gym dog ever!

Moved to Bloomington for my husband’s work (he was on short-term assignment with Rivian) and was looking for group-training. When I’m in Bloomington visiting my girlfriend at Illinois State University (ISU) I look forward to getting a fun and intense workout in at Be Strong. It’s very friendly and positive environment just 10 minutes from ISU’s campus. I've been a member at Be Strong since November of 2017 and in the that time it's exceeded all my expectations. In 5 months I've lost 3 inches off my waist, hit a deadlift PR of 425, a bench press PR of 275, and made significant strides in my conditioning (I'm actually finishing most of the conditioning workouts now). I expect to continue to get stronger, faster, and leaner.

The membership is positive and friendly. You'll have others cheering you on when they finish and there is always a round of high fives at the end. The coaches are knowledgeable. You can be sure that even if you have great lifting technique that they'll be able to teach you something and help correct your form if it gets off track. If you're a complete newbie they'll take the time to properly introduce the lifts to you.

At Be Strong you'll perform the big 3 power lifts. You'll do Olympic Lifts. You'll run, row, and jump rope. There is something here for everybody whether you just need to get healthy or you want to squeeze the last few bits of athletic performance out of yourself.

If you want a gym where everyone has either an underdog story or a competitive (and I think world) record, come here. If you want to have every personal record blown, and have random strangers cheer you on as you struggle and sweat, come here.

They don't care about how much you bench or how fast you can run. They care about effort. If you want a place where your out of shape body can be coached and cheered into its best self, all you need to do is show up and bring a sweat rag.

Fair warning, if you hate your body, these people love it. They want to keep it safe and healthy. They'll push you and it'll be difficult, but never painful. They have mastered what they do. I've never woke up the next day unable to move, but normally I wake up wanting to go back.

It provides the perfect environment for any level of athlete, including myself who was getting back into fitness. This place has brought me so much joy. I'm a high school athlete who hit the college 15(I mean 45...) pretty hard and am now working the 9-5 grind. I fell out of working on my fitness and spent more time thinking about working out than doing it. I tried the gym, I tried the diets, but I kept gaining weight and feeling more and more physically inept. But I didn't want high school to be when I was in the best shape of my life. Then I heard about Be Strong. I could barely do 30 sit-ups and 50 air squats on day 1, but after only a month+ I've nearly hit PR's across the board and I fell better than ever. I've been to many of the gyms in the blono area and this one has something different. The difference is the passion and care of the Coaches. Drew takes a special interest in each one of his members in a way that I've never experienced. If you don't go for a couple of days, you can bet you'll get a text from Drew. Unlike other gyms, he'll reach out to you simply because he wants you to improve, not just because your renewal date is coming up. They also regularly program interesting workouts to keep you on your toes. Over the course of 18 months, the workouts never got easy because Drew kept finding ways to keep them challenging.

During my time at Be Strong, I truly felt like I had a community of people who cared about my personal progression. Ever since I moved away from Bloomington, i've been trying to figure out how to replace this truly special experience.
