This is a uniquely personal and rejuvenating studio. Having experienced many other teachers and studios over the years, I can confidently say that Magdalena is an amazingly gifted teacher. On 02/13/2023, I took my very first yoga class in a Body & Brain Studio. I will be the first to admit I am absolutely no yoga specialist, I do not speak lingo, and I had no plans of becoming a member anytime in the near future. But what I DO know, is that I loved my first yoga experience and highly recommend that everyone get out and try a new yoga class this spring! I typically run on the treadmill, maybe lift a few weights, sit in the sauna, and hope it works some miracles. Getting out of the house and stepping out of my normal element was exactly what I needed, and I didn’t even know it.

Thanks to the Body & Brain Studio, my eyes have been opened to the number of opportunities there are to try new classes, get outdoors and discover fun areas in my little village. I finally feel like I can leave the house on a cold winter day and not use the weather as an excuse, because the Body & Brain Studio has a ton of things to keep me warm and active. The same goes with getting out of the house to go to yoga private lessons.

To start the class, the Master / Instructor walked us through each of the items we’d be using, where to sit/stand, and some basic form. The Master or Instructor clearly explained each pose, and over time we were building from one pose to another with a flow that wasn’t too challenging to keep up with. I can only imagine how complicated it probably gets as I get into more advanced classes!

One thing that I loved was how often it was mentioned that this was my experience as an individual, and to stay in tune with what my body needed that day. Basically, the opposite of what I’m used to in a fitness regime - This wasn’t about pushing harder and setting physical records, this was about staying mentally focused, and really focusing on what felt right. Yoga is not a comparison game. It’s all about us as individuals.

Another piece that was brought up a few times was letting go of things - both physical and mental. We were reminded to let go of our worldly stresses - none of which needed to be on our mind at that moment, taking away from our mental focus. The Master / Instructor also continued to check in with us about where we were holding tension. Every single time they said it, I was clenching either my jaw, forehead, or behind my eyes. It’s amazing how often I’m doing that and holding stress there without even realizing that I’m exerting extra energy.

I better believe I grabbed a schedule on the way out. Healing yoga, right here! I can completely see the long-term benefits of a mind and body class like this, and hey - I should probably start wearing my yoga leggings to more than just the grocery store. If you’re on the edge about getting out there and trying a new class, just do it. Let the Master / Instructor know you are a newbie as I am, and they’ll make sure they drop some helpful hints throughout the class and keep a close eye on you to make sure what they’re saying is related.

Master Anita’s attention to detail during our healing yoga session is unmatched. I felt a strong sense of calm upon arrival at the Body & Brain studio, and every moment throughout my session was met with peace and tranquility. It was a great experience! Learned so much and will definitely be contacting her for a private session!

Also, Master Beatriz walks me through the whole practice and brings peace to the practice. I highly recommend it if someone is starting out or has experience and wants to go a little deeper into the practice.

Perfect for beginners who want to learn about yoga practice & may be too shy to go to an actual class.

The Body and Brain Team has the experience to help with wherever they know about the different yoga styles. I love their dedication and knowledge about yoga. They create a lesson that is unique to us. They truly are the best yoga instructors.

I have been practicing at Body and Brain Yoga in Northbrook, and previously Dahn Yoga in Glenview, for 17 years. The classes and principles are core to my life as a happy, healthy and productive person. Because I have been attending so long it would be easy for me to take the program for granted. When I miss classes for extended periods due to work or travel schedules, I realize just how much it helps me stay physically and emotionally balanced and centered. Each day classes have have a different focus/theme and are always enjoyable and challenging. Supplemental workshops are available for deeper trainings. Masters Deanna and Hillary are warm, welcoming and encouraging and have created a supportive and peaceful center that I always look forward to visiting. If you are looking to improve your physical condition, emotional well-being and/or tap into your true inner self, I can not think of a better place to do so! And the center had adapted well to the COVID environment offering a variety of on line classes and special programs as well as limited size in person classes for those comfortable attending.

I’m so glad I joined. I started practicing about 2 months ago. TiChi has many health benefits.
One of them is Stress Relief . Just by implementing the breathing techniques with special movements and achieving the mind / body connection we can elevate our mood and free ourselves from being trapped in our minds and overwhelmed by stress.

I came here on a whim when I wasn't in the best place mentally and physically. I took a group class and I was shocked at how amazing I felt after just one class. The warmth of the people and environment and the structure of the class made me feel welcomed and accepted. Later on, after taking a variety of different classes - such as private sessions with Master Deanna, vibration meditation, and tai Chi - I learned that the masters are extremely willing to go above and beyond to listen to each person and help guide them. Specifically, Deanna would reach out to me if I didn't come regularly to see how I feel and if I need any help. She would truly listen, could always understand the essence of what I was going through, and would offer much needed advice and wisdom. In addition, Master Lee is a very educated, wise, and experienced yogi. I had a chance to take classes with Master Lee and I felt her strong energy that she shares with the class. The yoga method they use is very unique in that it focuses on balancing and aligning your body by decreasing the stress on your mind. After attending classes here for about half a year, I genuinely feel that my life has changed in a positive and meaningful way.

I became a member of Body and Brain Yoga in 2010. At the time I joined I felt ill all the time with no diagnosed problem, I had no energy, was depressed without an obvious reason, my relationships with others was very bad and I felt pretty hopeless about my future even though an outside observer would think I had everything you could want to be happy. The minute I walked into the Center I felt like it was the place I wanted to be. I quickly became a lifetime member, took every class they offered, attended classes daily and within 6 months my life had completely turned around. My health issues disappeared, my life-long depression lifted and hasn't returned, my relationships improved so they were no longer a problem and I became hopeful and optimistic about my future. Eight years later, I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in my life. I have now become a yoga teacher myself and I am 70 years old! I have been a devoted student of Dahn Yoga/ Body and Brain training for many years. Group exercise have a perfect structure, that involve flexibility, brain awakening, Chakra opening and healing. The unique Danhak system might surprise the beginner, but please stay with training and you will see a lot of benefits .
Emotional healing , increased stability and claity are also the benefits you get if you continue on your path of healing process (again, physical and emotional ) for yourself and the world.

I have been attending the Dahn Yoga classes for about 5 years.
At first I was very skeptical, as the time went on I slowly realized the benefits I acquired by becoming a member of Dahn Yoga.
In my lovely age when everything hurts, every intervertebral disc is herniated and arthritis affects all of my movements, so these exercises are an essentials part of my life now.
After I began training for a little while, all of a sudden I realized that I wake up in the morning without pain. Such a surprise!
I learned how to enjoy the moment, how to enjoy my day, and for the first time in my long life how to relax.
The center has a very friendly atmosphere and kind and skillful staff. The manager Adahae is knowledgeable, friendly, well organized, and attentive to every need of every member. He has greatly influenced the condition of my body and spirit.

Training room is spacious and warm. The Tai Chi instructor is excellent. I love his outdoor classes as well. There are 2 washrooms for convenience (no long line waiting ^_^). Very helpful staff.

I have experienced freedom! Freedom on so many levels - physically, energetically, emotionally, spiritually... What else? Improved balance and flexibility, greater self-awareness, better control over negative emotions, better relationship with family and friends, new business connections and opportunities, a much broader outlook on things, increased tolerance and acceptance, and much more - in a matter of 6 months! Great people and opportunities seem to be falling into my lap now that I have opened myself up to possibilities.
Highly recommend it for any age. Can't wait to sign my 6 y.o. up so he can grow up in harmony with himself and the world around him. What a world it will be when people are connected to themselves, one another and the universe!
Staff: very warm and welcoming. Master: is there anything he can't do? ;) Tremendously helpful - in personal life, professional and business.

I have been coming to Dahn Yoga for over 5 years now and have had many awakenings physically and emotionally that I would like to share.
I was told 1 1/2 years ago that I needed shoulder surgery because I had a small tear. I was going to do the surgery because of the pain and limited range of motion. The Master at my center suggested I wait and take Dahn Mu Do course. He said through this practice you will open up your shoulder. We do warms ups with the Bo Staff and my shoulder feels 100% better. I get a little pain once in a while, but my range of motion is back and I opened up my shoulder. I am so glad I waited.
Through my practice with Dahn Mu Do class I have learned what the phrase "Just take a breath really means'. When we practice certain forms we breathe in for a certain count and breathe out the same amount. I realized through this breathing I can calm my mind and really relax. I practice this several times a day now.

When I started Dahn Yoga 5 1/2 years ago I was very anxious, depressed, and generally overwhelmed with life. I decided to try out yoga to help manage my stress. I found Dahn Yoga by accident because it was next to the Hardware store. I walked in one evening and the Manager was so nice. We talked for a few minutes and I decided to do a Private Intro session. I came back for my session and she checked out my body condition. She understood everything that was going on with me without me telling her. I signed up for some classes. After a few classes I knew I had found the right place. I had trouble clearing all the thoughts out of my head, but after learning meditation techniques in class I felt so much better. I always had trouble sleeping at night, but now I sleep great.
Another reason I started taking yoga was for a chronic back problem. All the stretches I have learned have saved me. I am a member for life!
