This is easily the most visually appealing YMCA I've ever been in. Not only does all the architecture feel consistent, but even the fitness centers fit the vibe. Additionally, this facility just has a lot of good amenities. I still have yet to see a dirty counter or dirty seat. However, I am fond of this YMCA for a major reason. Almost every YMCA has a policy that if you lose your stuff, it's on you and you just lose it. Despite that, when I accidentally left my computer overnight, they held onto it for me and returned it to me in the morning. I don't really think a YMCA can get better than this

Nice facility. Sign-up was easy. Pricing is astronomical compared to gyms like Vasa, etc.

My personal routine leaves me open to work out from 8pm onward. Often I show up with the expectation of working out from 8:30pm-9pm. Closing time is 9pm. On more than a few occasions the employees were passively hostile about showing up within that timeframe.

TL;DR - Don’t sign up here unless you’re a Daywalker. You’ll be treated like rebel scum.

VERY RUDE MAINTENANCE. PULLS WITHIN INCHES OF YOUR CAR FOR NO REASON. Parked in public parking and he has some sort of entitlement issue. Called to report to the front desk and ask for the manager, they did not give a manager and the counter girl was extremely confrontational. NOT VERY CHRISTIAN LIKE PEOPLE.

Update: apparently if you park in a spot where the maintenance person doesn't like not only will they Park aggressively but they'll take a leaf blower to your car and shoot rocks all over it. I have on dash cam shooting my car with rocks I have chips all over my windshield. Luckily I am more godly than apparently he is and I know karma will prevail

I just had to give some feedback after this morning’s Strength+ class with Megan F. It was THE BEST WORKOUT! I just love her positivity in each class, as well as how hard she pushes us. I know I may not appear to appreciate it in the moment - ha ha - but afterwards, the high from the tough workout lasts all day long. She genuinely cares about each person in her class getting the most out of it. She is always pushing us to lift more, but in a supportive way. Today, specifically, she got me when after using 25’s (my heaviest) for my deadlifts, she convinced me to keep the heavies in my hands for the next movement, when normally I would have gone down to a lighter weight. It was tough, but so worth it. I have been taking her strength+ class almost every week since July and I still look forward to each one! Also - the music is top notch!

Cant find the email to send to the Y to commend a staff, so here I am. I would like to commend Mike from front desk. I was trying to hunt down one of the staff to get my child to sign up for swimming class but the staff was very busy with summer camp. Mike made sure I was contacted by the corresponding staff to have my child registered. Thank you so much!

My new favorite health club in Glen Ellyn!

I’ve been a member at Ackerman and, most recently, at Health Track for many years. We decided to switch to the Y after hearing great things from other families about the renovations. Health Track raises prices annually without significant improvements, while the Y is a nicer, more modern facility at literally half the cost of HT. Even better, the Y’s family memberships include all children for one flat rate—unlike Health Track, which charges extra per child.

The renovations are outstanding. Everything is modern, spotless, and thoughtfully designed. The locker rooms, weight room, and functional workout space upstairs are all excellent. There are lockers, bathrooms, water fountains, and comfortable, quiet seating areas tucked throughout—small details that show just how well-planned the renovation was.

There are also thoughtful perks that set the Y apart: free coffee in to-go cups, a childcare room that feels like a private daycare, and a separate room for kids ages 9–13 with two Nintendo Switches, interactive wall games, and fun activities led by fantastic staff. The Teen Center is another standout that no other local gym offers, making this the perfect place for kids to enjoy beyond the early years!

It never feels crowded, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the entire facility is kept extremely clean. The only improvements they could make would be to open an hour or two earlier on Sunday mornings, similar to other local YMCAs.
We're so glad we made the switch and have found our forever local gym!

Fabulous Y. I travel around the country for work so I've been to many YMCAs and this one is in the top 5, hands down. Such nice staff and lots going on but never feels crowded. Machines are always in proper repair and are super nice.

Been in Glen Ellyn past five years. Kids have loved it.

The educational program is top notch. Caring and loving educators! Kids are safe and doing great educational, physical, and social activities. Mrs. Raquel is a workhorse and amazing leader! She’s hands on and extremely passionate about your kids and the program.

Jim Powers runs amazing programs that are well organized. His communication is top notch!

Leadership is present and engaged.

Best workout facility in Dupage county!

Mr. Mike greeting at the front desk makes my day everyday. Positive update, caring individuals all around.

Basically the Y is home away from home.

wow what a renovation! The necessary vision to take an already good operation to a spectacular asset to our community is incredible. A huge thank you to all those that helped in this transformation and especially in to those with the vision to see what is possible. Front desk people like to gossip about members at the desk and act as though you’re bothering them when you ask them a question or check in. Shannon the person in charge doesn’t return calls. Just overall unimpressed by the unprofessional unhelpful gossipy staff. Spend the few extra dollars and go to Healfh Track. Their staff is courteous and professional.

It’s really nice especially after the remodel but the facility timings are becoming shorter and shorter. It used to close 10pm every day then got shortened to 9pm every day, now Mondays they close at 8. Can we go back to the good ole days when the BR YMCA used to close at 10pm

This location makes their own rules as they go.
I am a nationwide member and at any other YMCA I can bring my daughter and guest without any issues. This location makes you pay for guest while others do not. This location makes you complete an entire online application for child care daily. The location is nice but I wouldn’t recommend this location, the staff isn’t friendly and some can be rude.

Recently got a membership there to also benefit from the after school program for my children. I waited 3 weeks on a follow up from Shannon and she didn't care to follow up promptly, despite me even going in person. I left several voicemails and emails. The weekend hours are short. You're not allowed to work out in certain exercise rooms unless there are classes there. Overall, not a great value or customer service from the After-School program team.

Thom and I recently joined. It's great! The machines are all new, the work out area is pristine. It's never crowded. I'm working with a personal trainer Jessica Rangel who is kicking my a$$. There's a great Yoga flow class and a 30 minute ab class that made me want to lay down and cry at the end. If you are like me and haven't been there since your kids took swim lessons 30+ years ago, come check it out. Ps: they are also doing some wonderful things for a lot of people with challenging circumstances. Good job Y!

I went to this Y location for a period of about two years with the family and we loved it. I personally used the fitness center, and occasionally went to the pool, they have a lap pool and heated small pool for children. I could say I was very happy with their service and the sense of community they foster. Another good thing about they had an indoor playground which was so nice for my toddler when winter came in. Overall My experience with this location was exceptional and I absolutely recommend it

This YMCA is so beautiful inside. I am from another town and visit this location frequently. The staff is friendly and informative. The work out equipment is very nice and newer, some I haven't seen anywhere else. The women's locker room is fit for a queen. I am seriously considering transferring my membership because I like it here so much.

My son has been attending the afterschool Safe n' Sound program since he was in Kindergarten; now he's in third grade. This was my daughter's first year. Over the last 4 months another kid in the program has been bullying both of my kids and the other kids. I witnessed several incidents and repeatedly asked that the bylaws of the program be followed to ensure the safety of all the kids and in the end; I had to remove my kids as a result of Erin Whites refusing to take the advice of other staff and to follow the Y's regulations to ensuring that the children in this program are safe. My kids are very well mannered, they receive good behavior reports often. I absolutely have nothing but good things to say about the other staff but Erin's unwillingness to address and handle safety concerns in a professional manner is eating at the core of this program. The majority of the families that started with my son left the program after the first year. My only regret is that I did not follow sooner. To the other dedicated and hard working staff; thank you.

The staff and facility are a gem in the western suburbs where fitness, family, friendship, and healthy competition come together. As a member for many years, this has been a place of transformation for myself and our family - a real staple in our lives. I believe the family membership prices are fair and manageable. When considering the overall value, the cost of membership and childcare are a solid investment. We continue to explore and enjoy the adult programs and youth development opportunities they offer.

They're not as professional as you would think. Especially when it comes to the daycare and communication. I was told I would get a call on LAST Monday letting me know if a family was still wanting daycare and if not ERIN WHITE said she would call. It's been A WEEK and it took for me to call her today to get dob excuse of"oh there was a waiting list and she had to contact other families when that want told to me in the beginning. This was really UNPROFESSIONAL and if any parents who have kids are thinking about putting their kids in the Y, just make sure you have an alternative. A job passed up on me because I didn't hear anything back from her when she said I would!!!!
