I was loving the swimming classes every frieday, but they are extremely unprofessional.
Cards never work for doors, ceilings are falling apart.. etc

They are extremely unsanitary, my child wasn't in the childcare for more than a month or two and contracted THREE DIFFERENT VIRUSES. I was told that they couldn't enforce other children get tested.

Fast forward to yesterday I was told by the manager that MY CHILDREN, cant come back because of the "way I communicated" during this incident, im not sure how many parents would have been nice about their 9 MONTH OLD WITH NO IMMUNE SYSTEM catching MULTIPLE VIRUSES. My older child lost all of her friends and education due to a lack of care and compassion.

Instead of compassion they left my childs belongings at the FRONT DESK and didnt even contact me to tell me until today.

I had allot of respect for ymca but this really ruined my experience with them.

The YMCA has a slogan “you belong here,” and a Mission statement to Make everyone feel Welcome. In addition, their membership police states:

"The YMCA of Metro Chicago reserves the right to suspend or cancel a membership or registration if a member’s, participant's, or guest's behavior or language is judged to be in conflict with the welfare of other members, participants, guests, or staff, or is in conflict with the YMCA’s mission. "

In January of this year a visitor secretly audio taped and videotaped on a bod cam outside the gymnastics gym on two occasions. This included minor children and parents. This individual admitted this to multiple people.

The Buehler ymca was notified of this behavior on multiple occasions, including how he harassed other members.

The complaint had the response of “there is nothing we can do."

In February, allowed this individual's partner to be hired as a l and gave the person who has SECRETLY RECORDED PEOPLE IN HALLWAYS a COMPLIMENTARY MEMBERSHIP.

When asked why they hired the partner of a known person who does this and given a free membership with access to all parts of the facility, the response again was “there is nothing I could do.”

How about not hire people that give known policy violators free memberships!

How is the Buehler YMCA following its slogan of “you belong here” if people don’t feel safe attending or going? More people need to know this person is doing this, and the ymca knows this is occurring.

In fact, an online ethics complaint did not even get a response! What is the point of saying you are a place for the community if you allow this to happen without any recourse? How is this person's behavior anywhere in line with these policies, and furthermore why did the YMCA knowingly allow someone who violates this policy intentionally to continue use of their facility?

I will start with the positive feedback and the reason why I’m still a member. The classes like body pump, full body conditioning etc are great all the instructors are awesome. All the members of the staff are very nice and helpful. My kids love taking swimming lessons there and same the instructors are always nice and friendly.
My concern is in the kids zone. It’s very frustrating and stressful the fact that the bathroom in there is NOT for little kids. Every time (2-3 times a month) I take my 3 year old there that is fully potty trained has accidents and they call me in the middle of my class to go and help her ruining my entire routine. Last Friday after months not taking her for that reason they called me after 1 hr because she has an accident and yes! I took her to the potty before leaving her there. When I asked them if someone was able to help her, I was told that they don’t supposed to help them. Really?? In the past they were able to help my daughter but this time not? I’m sorry but I cannot control when she needs to go potty.
So You guys expecting that a little kids (3-4 years old) do everything by themselves in a bathroom is not for small kids (no kids toilet, no kids toilet insert, no adult help) also the door is IMPOSSIBLE to open from inside. I hear children got stuck inside for who knows how long because nobody was there to check. So I really hope The Buehler YMCA take care of my feedback and give me a solution of this issue. I know many parents in my position will appreciate. Thank you.

I would like to share my experience with the Day Care Center where my daughter started attending preschool in January 2025.

Firstly, I must commend the facility itself. It is a large complex that prioritizes cleanliness and maintains an optimal temperature and humidity level, creating a very comfortable environment for children.

The staff at this center is exceptional. Starting with Jenn Stricker, who is always friendly and approachable, keeping her door open for communication with parents. The support staff is equally welcoming, always greeting us and showing kindness towards the children.

I particularly want to highlight my daughter's teacher, Annie Yung. She has a professional approach to teaching and has managed to connect with my daughter very well, especially since we moved from Ukraine, and she had limited English skills. Annie has found effective ways to engage my daughter, and she now happily expresses her thoughts and wishes in English. The children learn various songs in class, which my daughter loves to sing at home. Annie provides useful materials that teach children essential life skills, such as friendly phrases and safety rules, which my daughter remembers well.

There is also a second teacher, Miss Ariel, who contributes greatly to the learning environment. The classroom is well-organized; even with 10 or more children, they are separated into different zones so they can focus on various activities without disturbing each other.

On Fridays, the children have swimming lessons with a coach, which greatly benefits their health and emotional well-being. There is also a covered playground and gym for sports activities.
Additionally, I appreciate how Annie keeps us informed through an app, sharing daily updates and pictures of our daughter’s activities.

The level of professionalism displayed by the educators is remarkable. They engage the kids in exciting and developmental activities, making them eager to attend preschool every day.

In conclusion, I am extremely satisfied with the Day Care Center and would highly recommend it to other parents.

We recently rented out the treehouse at the YMCA and it was an incredible experience. There was a designated party host who was so helpful, thank you Alex! There are so many different activities for all ages to do. We had middle school age kiddos playing basketball. Toddlers going in and out of the bounce house and tree house. Plus a little kid zone with tons of toys. The kids slept so well after our party time. Highly recommend and plan to use again!

This Gym was a great place to workout. I'm not much of a lifter, but the cardio machines were great. There is an indoor track and basketball court. Great place for families, everyone is friendly. Always a great experience coming in and the staff is very friendly.

I’m a supporter of YMCA for years and have been a member for past 18 years. I apologise in advance for this unpleasant review. The facility needs major remodeling, men’s locker room has dirty gray cracked tiles, half of faucets in sinks and shower do not work properly if at all. Showers are dingy , moldy and look bad. Sauna and steam room keep breaking down and repairs are taking too long. As of this day the steam room is broken again!!!
Gym has many broken machines ( cable , fly etc) and have been so for weeks !!! No one knows when they will fix them. One of cable machines has a pulley that is grinding and no one cares, other have snapped cable for weeks now etc.
Where do our monthly dues go to ? How come for years now, no maintenance, remodelling or new equipment were done/ brought in?!!!
Gym equipment needs major updating as the current equipment is getting worn down and old. I hope management will hear this, as people will be cancelling memberships, no one wants to pay for subpar product consistently.

When we received our first Covid shots on Feb. 22, 2020 it happened to be the same day as our wedding anniversary. The Y staff presented us a lovely card signed by Andrew Sullivan, Theresa and others to help celebrate the occasion. We have never received such attention from any organization like that and we were very touched. I even mentioned that in a letter to the NY Times Wedding Section.

Everyone is very friendly, great staff. The reason for my rating is that the facilities NEED to be renovated in some areas, freshly painted in others and/or update decor. The family special needs locker and the women’s locker rooms must be redone. They have cracked tiles, rust, mold and are dingy. The women’s locker room needs space planning in addition to renovation as whoever designed it the first time did not think through the flow of activity and very poorly designed (I.e. after showering in this dingy, poorly lit place, you have to walk dripping wet down this hallway to get to the locker room area and expose yourself to wide open spaces before getting to your outdated ugly locker. It’s ridiculous and is a cold/sterile, ugly place for women (family locker room is not much better). At the moment I’m only using it for convenience but if I find a place with a lap pool, reasonable prices and more inviting/updated facilities, I’m switching my membership, sadly. I’m

Very nice YMCA with lots of options. Fitness equipment is in very good condition and looks to be well taken off. A couple platforms with racks for the heavy weight lifters. Locker rooms are dated, yet include a sauna and steam room. Two midsize pools along with a very nice large play area for children. Great area for gymnastics along with three basketball courts and an elevated running track. Two functioning racket ball courts along with several others that have been converted to various types of studios. The building is a bit choppy and as first-time visitors it was a challenge to find certain areas. Staff was very friendly and overall a very pleasant atmosphere.

While alone in the corner of the massive workout room, a staff member asked me to put on a mask - as I was setting a personal squat record. Nobody was within 70 feet of me. Safe to say I canceled my membership the next day. I now go to AnyTime Fitness down the street, no mask mandate and it is open 24/7 Highly recommend it !
