I have a daughter that is in one of the preschool classes. My daughter is very shy around new people. Her coach has been so patient with her and has really helped her come out of her shell!!!! It is the best feeling as a parent to see your child who was once scared/ timid, but is now so excited for every class! Her confidence has grown so much as well as her skill! Very very impressed with the quality of the gym as well. Coaches are wonderful! Highly recommend this gym!

Horrible staff! Had birthday party and staff not helping to find a room to nursing mother. Too bad! I would not recommend this place for birthday parties! Overall gym is okay, however staff is rude (admin staff over the front desk)!

Rude staff, this is not how you treat people! Those guys are mean and they mean business. My wife wanted to check out the place that is actualy great but the staff needs some serious training and replacement.

Extremely rude unfriendly staff/owner. My sister takes her 2year old here and asked me to go with them and try it out. So i did, when i went up to the front desk i told them i was interested in signing up and i would like to stay for 1 lesson. They told me i could not stay, they don't do "try outs" (next sign up was in a month) I went in the gym room to let my sister know what they have said, my sister suggested to sit on a mattress and wait untill they are done since we were with one car, (we were not bothering anybody) soon after they kicked out my 2 yr old and I and made us feel extremely uncomfortable in front of all the other parents. I feel terrible putting my daughter through such a horrible 1st gymnastics experiance. I regret going to this place.

Very rude owner. Never say goodbye over phone or βthank youβ! Need to monitor chargers on the card, because sometimes they are overcharge and donβt see any problem with this game until you find out!

Horrible place, horrible owner. The owner sets the tone and staff follows, and the tone is very little regard to children's well-being and self-esteem. We have compiled many incidents that, in my opinion, are borderline abusive. If your child smiles for getting a skill right for the first time she may hear "get rid of that smile, because if you don't keep up you're going to lose". Your child may hear, as mine did, from the coach "this team is a piece of cr**p", language we do not use at home. If you are considering Buffalo Grove gymnastics, protect your family and go somewhere else. The other negative reviews are very accurate.

Not a safe place for kids psychologically or physically. If you want a mentally healthy kid, go somewhere else. They don't care about the parents or the kids, only themselves, schedules, payments, attires, etc. and no positive support, on the contrary, many diminishing threats and comments are made by some of the coaches.

I would never send your kids here ever! My daughter is 3 years old, went here for her first gymnastics class and was scared within the first five min. There was a gentleman teaching the class who had no clue how to interact with kids and wouldn't even help her onto the balanced beam. She was hysterically crying and they basically told me to get her out of the class. It was appalling. We have never in three years had an issue with a class or teacher but this was ridiculous and I observed the whole thing. When we approached the office about this there response was "It is everyone's first class at some point".

I take issue that two of the 5 stars are from the owners' son (Crumley) and a coach's daughter (Tori) and not from paying patrons, thus the one star. It is really a very okay gym which use to be much better.
For rec classes, this place is adequate for getting you basic gymnastics skills.. The team program (girls only) has a very emotionally abusive environment. They also make movement extremely slow, and is based on their own subjective criteria. Basically they do whatever they want to do. Girls stay because of the camaraderie they have built, despite the negative coaches.
And is true that everyone is just a number. Leave.....they really don't care.
And if you go check out another gym, you are no longer welcome. Is that even legal?

Great center for kids to learn and advance their gymnastic skills. Staff if generally very friendly and knowledgeable. Many levels and classes to choose from. Prices are pretty fair compared to others in the area. Only knock is the classes and waiting area can be very crowded and chaotic.

We have been going to Buffalo Grove Gymnastics since my now 38 year old son was in grammar school. Currently I take my 2.5 year old grandson and 4.5 year old granddaughter. I go in with him. Between them they have had many of the coaches, all of whom have been fantastic with them. In all my years there I have never seen a child injured in any way. As far as the pit my grandson has been jumping in since he was 2. Even with me right there he has had other children land on him. He was never hurt, that's why the foam blocks are in there. The only danger came when the mother, thinking her child was hurt , pulled him out. If the back or neck was hurt movement was the worst thing to do.

To the person who stated below that this place is all about money is completely right. We had signed up our daughter for a session, that according to their brochure gets a 10%. I wasn't aware of that until I had gotten home. So today I called and asked about that and the gentleman (really not gentle) said that we got the prorated charge because we're starting after the session already started, but that the policy is you also can't get the 10% discount??? I mentioned that it doesn't state that anywhere on the brochure and he said that that's the policy. Plus you have to pay a $40 annual registration fee...what for? Such a rip off, i'm going to another gym.

Buffalo Grove Gymnastics has been and always will be an amazing place to further the growth and development of a child. The Staff are for the most part willing to take everyones opinions into consideration and they do a great job interacting with children and engaging them. Coming from someone who has started from the bottom of the program and continued on to have success Nationally, Internationally, and Collegiately. I whole heartedly believe that it all came from what I learned at BGGC and the coaches and team mates I had. If your child is in need of an energy outlet or just looking to get them in a sport thats not conventional, This is the place to DO IT!!!!

I took my 3 year old daughter to a birthday party here yesterday. She is a scaredy cat so I stayed with her during the activities. Most of the other parents were in the party room. The woman who was leading my daughter's group through the activities led them through the trampolines and the rings, which was fine. Then we went over to a very high blue mat (when I say high I mean like 5 feet above the foam pit) and the kids were supposed to take turns jumping from the mat into the giant foam pit. While I was helping the first little girl get out of the foam, I assumed that the staff member was lining the kids up. My daughter was next and she jumped in. LITERALLY two seconds later I see a little girl jumping and she jumps right on top of my daughter's back. My heart literally stopped. I looked at the clueless staff member in shock. She was in la la land or something. Zero reaction. Needless to say my child started screaming, I swear i thought she was seriously injured. I pulled her out and yelled at the woman "Are you KIDDING me?" and she was like "Oh, oh...I'm sorry Mom, I'm sorry". I was so angry I was FUMING. I took my daughter outside and checked her over, had her touch her toes, etc. Thank goodness she seemed to be ok. I was crying I was so angry.
I didn't want to cause a scene and ruin the birthday party so I just took her back in and we were doing our own thing for a while. Then we rejoined the group for the parachute exercise where a few staff members were barking orders to the kids to lift/put down a giant tarp. One of the kids was a little boy (maybe 2) and he stayed on the parachute when it was time to lift and I said "Whoa wait that little boy is till on there!" and the one of the staff members barked "He'll be fine".
I felt like I was in Alice in Wonderland. I have never seen such disorganization and carelessness for safety in my life. If this gym caters to all-age birthday parties they need to put a system in place where the parents dont have to worry about their kid breaking a bone or getting flung off a tarp.
The crazy thing is they didn't even have the parents sign a waiver for the kids to participate! This place is begging for a lawsuit.

I thought that BGC had a philosophy on gymnastics and the sport (taken from their website):
MISSION
Buffalo Grove Gymnastics Center and its dedicated staff is committed to provide children of all ages and abilities a fun and safe gymnastics learning experience. We believe that a strong recreational gymnastics program is the foundation to all sport movement and will allow children to excel in any sport they wish to pursue. We are committed to provide a wide variety of children the opportunity to participate in the sport of gymnastics both recreationally as well as competitively.
OBJECTIVES
* To foster a positive sense of self by guiding children to have fun andfeel good about their gymnastics participation.
* To motivate and emphasize to each child that their efforts are the building blocks to acheive their goals.
* To use gymnastics as positive learning tool to enhance coordination and build a child's self esteem.
* To use gymnastics as a teaching medium to provide a fundamental movement based education program.
* To utilize the benefits of gymnastics and its correlation to help children be successful in other sports.
It is a shame that you do not stand up to bullying by other clubs and do the RIGHT thing. You are allowing clubs to throw their weight around and allowing your fear and the almighty dollar to run your club. Pity! What kind of "positive message" are you sending out by denying access to all? You are promoting discrimination based on others judgements. Shame on you!
