Putting this place at two stars for now for the cleanliness and equipment. First of all, I went to this gym because I was looking for a replacement gym because Blink fitness near Riverside closed down. It was a little bit more expensive than blink but I was willing to play the price because it was a 24-hour gym and it was close to my house. I did notice that the gym looked a little bit older and less modernized than blink fitness but I was happy enough to just find a gym close to my house. I noticed several things after being a member for about a month now.

1) Just tonight several hours ago, I brought my own water but half was full and I was going to refill it and I noticed the gym fountains water spouts had mold/rust on it. Being in the military and having lived in the barracks that have had mold in it it's really a health risk and can make someone sick. To have mold means that those fountains have been neglected cleaning. Anybody who has cleaned a water fountain would be able to notice that.

2) The gym equipment is relatively kind of old and like others said, not maintained enough. The treadmill looks old and I miss the blink fitness treadmills, which even included a built in fan.

3) I in the men's restroom, they have those portable hand dryers that are motion sensored, but they can't have motion sensored urinals and sinks? I hate touching things and nobody bothers to flush the urinal because you have to touch the handle so when you go to the urinal it reeks of pee.

4. The most expensive thing I think is the personal trainer. The training sessions are once a week and over $100 I think it's $140 for a personal trainer, once a month. I think that's a little too much for once a week for a month if you ask me. I would have considered if it was $100 a month for once a week, maybe...

I really hope this gym improves otherwise I'm going to have to look elsewhere for a more cleaner and better maintained gym.

Update:I have a pretty noticeable shoulder drop because I've benched so much on these terrible benches. Now I gotta fix my shoulder.

I have been a member of this gym for a while now. The gym has decent equipment however they lack maintenance. Equipment stays broken for several weeks. Staff (trainers) gossips about their members and date their customers. Several complaints have been made to HR without resolution. There is no security after hours and anyone can come in putting members at risk.

Came here for the first time, I signed up because of my friend. They have what you need, and its open 24/7 can’t beat that. I work during the day and my other gym is closed by the time I get out of work. I needed something that was open past 10pm. Good lighting by the free weights, nice tall ceilings. I’d say it’s a overall great gym.

I’ve been to a lot of gyms - this one is meh, honestly pay the money for a better option and you’d be happier. This place is first of all really dirty… the bathrooms and locker rooms are NEVER clean. I have yet to see any members put their weights back or re-rack their weights, there is always equipment lying around not in the right place. There’s only 1 shitty platform to deadlift that is too close to the mirror. I’ve also been charged for someone walking in after me after I unlocked the door for myself via the app and when I went to dispute it, no one was working or near the front desk to help me.

I attempted to cancel my membership online and was told it's not possible. Although, Illinois just passed a law on Jan 1st requiring options to cancel online/phone. Was told someone who has been there for a "long time" said phone cancellation is not possible. Gym cleanliness is not kept up. At times, I'll see a thick layer of dust accumulating on the individual weight machines. Equipment never seems to be organized at any time. I've seen much more attention to detail/upkeep from other gyms with similar price points.

Your staff lacks basic problem-solving skills. This was my first time at any of your gyms—and my first time in a gym in four years. Within two minutes, I was already beyond frustrated. This experience has completely killed my motivation to work out. Train your front desk staff, these kids, better.

I walked in, I asked how the membership worked and if I could get a membership. I was then met with the stare of a thousand truths. It looked as if she was remembering those lost in the great Canadian goose migration. By that I mean she was dense and said “uhhh I don’t know” and then left the desk and walked away. I could’ve just walked in and started using the equipment at my own leisure, but it was simply too packed. So many teenagers.

After reading the reviews, I came to the conclusion that this place probably won’t be open for much longer.

The CFX at the North Riverside location has this amazing personal trainer her name is Yedith. I have been training with her for the past 2 years approximately and I can share the amazing personal training skills, she possesses. Yedith has proven how amazing she is as a trainer during our sessions by teaching me adequate posture during our training. Also, I do her group training classes, and she gives us different routines. She has been a great inspiration for me during my fitness journey because she was the only trainer who was able to build my leg muscles, making me stronger and giving me trust in the process. She is very valuable and a great asset to this company. I want to thank you Yedith for being an amazing trainer and person.

Joined for the wide variety of equipment. Since joining, they’ve been taking away equipment and it’s constantly broken. The gym/locker room also isn’t very clean and spaces in general aren’t very clean. The room they used to have as open space for individual exercise has since been closed for jiu jitsu

I was also “flagged” for letting another member in, but I only let myself in. Not sure how that happened as there was no one else but me entering the gym even on the footage.

Would rate this gym a zero if that was an option. Dirty facility, broken equipment, inept staff and management. This gym was nothing but problems. During staffed hours there were no staff to be found , or they were preoccupied doing their own workouts, watching TV, and on their phones. During early mornings unhoused/mentally ill individuals would trail in behind members and hangout in the gym and nothing was done about it. Also never any clean towels available to wipe equipment - was advised to use paper towel from the bathroom.... which there was none! After a week at this gym I had had enough and went to cancel my membership - took several visits during staffed hours to actually find a staff member to cancel it for me and that turned into a whole other ordeal. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

Gym staff doesn't seem to care who's paying or not Especially after hours. it's nothing but free loaders being let in and taking up equipment, messing up the bathrooms and breaking everything.Almost tempted to cancel my own membership to join them. DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP HERE!! This gym is horrible. One the bathrooms are disgusting. They are cleaned once a day and not even properly. There is no one that puts away weights so you can definitely find yourself almost falling from dumbbells being everywhere and equipment. And they recently implemented a rule that is charging you for bringing in guest when you’re not. I can appreciate they got most of the equipment you’d need for a workout, a turf with sleds, and it’s spacious. Upon walking in though, customer service is meh, there’s no cleaning equipment aside from dry towels, and the place reeks of sweat. It’s a little hot as well, with dust everywhere and some of the machines are on its last thread. This place clearly doesn’t get much maintenance often. At least I was able to have a peaceful gym session, just didn’t like how run down it appears to be and most of the other people working out were teens.

I truly and genuinely hope that this review makes it to someone from CFX who cares about their facility because this place has become a total disaster. The women restrooms are very nasty, they are always nasty and dirty marks everywhere. The floor is beyond description, there are so many hair balls and mounds of dust everywhere. Overall, the paying people also you all need to do better and put things back where they belong and help this place keep clean. Then, you have what I call paw patrol in the front Chase and Skye whom regardless of checking in with the open path app as you walk in they want you to check in all over again. But, they pick and choose who they want to check, hence I am observant and notice that they will check some people in twice and some they do not even bother with. But this place needs some major cleaning, which is my main point because all the machines are dusty, there is dust everywhere and the showers are never touched either. The staff in the front seem to have this "attitude" in the front and can be confrontational with some people who walk in with questions. If you want to attract customers and bring in revenue you have to be presentable not only in your people but within the facility because no one wants to come into a dirty facility that smells all the time.

I really love the installations, it's big, well organized and very clean. I am giving it a 3 start because I left my original gym that I was member for over 7 years to join CFX just because the website of all the locations mention massages beds and chairs included on their memberships, which none of those at all their locations work, NONE. Very disappointing. Those would be great for recovery. The front desk people never know anything about that and they just said that those had been like that forever. Not a great answer. There's no one there who can fix them.

I’ve been coming to CFX for 4-5 years and this place is just awful now. It was mediocre when I first joined and when Omar came in the place was constantly being updated with machinery and the layout of the place, but since he’s been gone it’s gone downhill in every way. Machine are broken and missing clips/pins, the place is dirty and disorganized, staff just sits around when the entire place could be organized because weights get moved around. Members don’t even wipe down the machines they’re using nor is it enforced. Never enough bottles as it is, I’ve gotten used to bringing my own. I’ve seen a cleaning lady once in the last 6 months and that’s it. Actively looking for a new gym now.

This gym is not good. I have membership through my ehalth insurance, and my husband I came to sign up through them on Sunday. There were two people at the front, but the guy at the front made the woman sign us both up while he played on his phone the entire time, not doing anything remotely close to work.

Then there's the gym itself. The equipment is in bad shape and the gym is probably the dirtiest one I've been to. The toilets are gross, the backs look like they haven't been wiped up in months. Several lights are burnt out which makes it feel pretty dark in there. It seems like once equipment breaks, they don't bother to repair it.

The two positives for me are that it's open 24 hours, though their open path system is glitchy and sometimes doesn't want to let you in, and the fact they have 2 hex bars for working out. I will go here when I want to use a hex bar or when I want to work out when other gyms are closed, but I would never pay for a membership here. I'm just glad it's all included in my health insurance because this gym is not worth it.

I have been training with Omar the assistant manger there for over a year now, and I have seen great results with my overall strength and fitness. I started off at 175 pounds when I first came to him last April and now a year later I am weighing in at 193 pounds. I am also a personal trainer but the way Omar trains you is something that isn’t taught over night. It’s always a great experience and you definitely get your moneys worth. I love this Gym!!! I have been coming to CFX North Riverside for several years and I am impressed with cleanliness, courteous and the pleasant staff. I like the fact that it is open 24x7 and I have no issues finding parking and they have elevator access to the 2nd floor. The atmosphere in the Gym is very professional, other members are helpful. I feel safe and do not feel intimidated.

I use free weights, the stair master, recumbent bikes, and the cable machines. Typically, I don’t have to wait long for others to finish using the equipment.

Additionally, I took training sessions with Dennis C. and he is the ultimate professional. He helped me with difficult workouts, right techniques including changing exercise routines and trying out new exercises. He gave me coaching, tracked the biometrics, and provided advice on diet that would help me achieve my goals and encouraged me to continually improve. He was very accommodating to my changing schedules and I really appreciated it.

I have been going here almost a year now, and I give it a mixed bag. Here is a pro's and cons list:
Pro's:
-24/7 accessibility/ Lax front desk (also a con).
-Not overcrowded. I never really feel like I am weighting for any machines or lifting areas. I can also social distance fairly easily
- separate rooms to do stretching and a turf area.

Con's
-The majority of people who work there are socially awkward and unhelpful. Their work ethic leaves much to be desired.
-Walking to the front desk is a crapshoot. Not a ton of consistency. I asked for a key tag so I can scan instead of them manually entering my number every time. They said they got rid of them. So I went to anther Charter location and guess what? They had key tags! Whoever manages the place should get with the times and make things a little more efficient.
-They tend to spot clean areas. Anytime you are doing floor work, or sitting on a bench looking underneath free weight racks, there is quite an impressive collection of dust bunnies and long hair. Anytime I do push ups guaranteed dust and long hair is clinging to my shirt lol.

I’m not sure why but as of late the staff is not up to par to what my expectation is. I was here last week and a taller gentleman, blonde hair was short and rude with me. And it’s not what he said, but how he said it. Today I stopped in with my wife and both people behind the desk were just starting at the computer. Shorter African American man with a cap and Latina just looked dumbfounded, didn’t acknowledge customers walking in. I had to start conversing to them for them to react I asked “how are you” do you need my phone number?!! Like, can anyone just walk in without a membership. Now not every staff member is bad, there was a gentleman last week. I want to say he was Latino who was extremely helpful adjusting my membership to All Access. He sent me an email in a timely manner, requested the Vaccination card, and was professional.

Gym is fine except the fact that the girls bathroom lights have been out for the past 3 weeks. Like every other light so it's uncomfortably dark. Tried to tell the guy at the front desk and he shrugged his shoulders and said there's nothing he can do about it now. Didn't write it down or nothing so hopefully the manager sees this one star and does something. The blonde guy at the desk is rude. I was even thinking about personal training but not anymore.

Paid the entire time of the pandemic without going. I was fine doing that as businesses need to be kept afloat.. Just came back for first time since before the shut down and was told my plan I pay for every month is not valid. Has not been for months. I am over paying and they no longer honor my plan. I asked why I was not told and they said it is not their job to tell me, I should have came in and read the fliers. I asked what I could do and they suggested cancel so I did.

Came back to this gym due to it being more local than others gyms I’ve been going to recently. It still looks the same as before with a couple new machines put here and there which is great! Things looked pretty well organized, not too much clutter. Only issue I had coming back is I tried asking the guy at the front desk, where do I scan in to his reply being “you’re good”. I then again asked to scan in and again “you’re good” I guess he was too busy chatting with some girls to focus on me trying to check in so I know for future visits. If this is the way the front desk handles customers, I’m sure there’s a couple people coming in for free without having to worry about being asked if their even a member. Overall, it’s a gym and the equipment got the job done.
