Becca Caliendo led a fantastic all-levels class that was really accessible for everyone! I am in yoga teacher training and was able to get deep into the practice while others could move at their own pace. She said the sanskrit names of the asanas, closed the space with Om, and even recited the mantra for unification. It was a modern practice that was clearly rooted in authentic respect for the traditions that gave rise to yoga in the west. I loved it and will definitely be back. Om.

Great yoga studio in the heart of Bucktown. The owner, Rich, has over 20 years of experience and has been taught by some of the greats. It's a small business and you can tell he is truly passionate about the entire umbrella of yoga, including meditation, philosophy, pranayama and making the asana classes (postures) accessible to all. My husband, who just began his yoga journey, joined me for his first class and felt extremely comfortable - it's a safe space for everyone. 10/10 :)

I love yoga, but I’m not normally a yoga class person. That said, I had a really lovely experience and good workout too! I would definitely go back to ChiYoga Shack.

Chi Yoga Shack is such a special place. I've been practicing here for over two years and now have the joy of teaching here as well. Every teacher brings something unique, and there's a strong foundation in traditional Hatha yoga that I really appreciate. The restorative and yin classes are also the real deal...slow, intentional, and truly Yin in nature, which is rare to find these days. The owners, Rich and Nora, are the heart of the studio and treat everyone like family, there's such warmth and care in everything they do! Make sure to see Rich for Thai Bodywork because it’s truly next level. I'm so grateful to be a part of this community πŸ€πŸŒ€

This place has made my life better. All the instructors are top notch (especially Rich). No other yoga place I've been to measures up in terms of actually learning something while also pushing yourself.

The Hatha Yoga and meditation class led by Omkar was superb. I will attend every opportunity I get. The studio itself is beautiful, warmly welcoming, and has everything you need to walk in and enjoy a great practice.

I have known the founder of ShivaShack from his previous yoga classes and have witnessed the love and passion that he and his team put into building (brick by brick yes!) and creating ShivaShack. I have moved from Chicago but continue to take their virtual classes on Zoom and cannot recommend it highly enough. The yoga taught here is the real thing, offered by experienced and lovely teachers. Go there if in Chicago or take their variety of classes online.

Shiva Shack is more than just a studioβ€”it is a sacred house of learning to honor the body/temple of the soul in a deeper, more integrated and reverent way. Rich is a guide disseminating the medicine of yoga in a holistic, full essence practice. I feel so honored when I enter the space, and deeply supported by the guidance I receive here as I continue to learn to trust, open and strengthen my own sacred human vessel. It is a space of healing and that integrity is upheld wholly. It’s a beautiful place to learn and become, and I am blessed to have been guided to it.

This is real yoga. I’ve taken several different classes at Shiva Shack and have enjoyed them all. Each instructor is a bit different, but that is a good thing.

Aw, I love this space! Been looking for my yoga home for a long time. As a yoga teacher myself, I often end up practicing at home, and find many classes underwhelming. I wandered in here the other day and the owners Rich and Nora were SO kind and welcoming, and so happy to show me their beautiful space. I came back to take a class with Rich, and his class was a joyous experience. It was skilled but lighthearted, serious but funny, accessible but challenging, and simple but subtle. I will certainly be coming back to this sweet space <3

Few yoga studios, if any, in the city will come close to the feeling you get at Shiva Shack. The spiritual vibes are high, it feels pure, and you can feel the energy of authentic practice on the floor and in the walls.

What heightens these feelings are instructors like Rich Gonshak whose own authentic spirit and strive to reach an elevated state are gifted during their classes.

I have been going to their Sunday evening ashtanga classes. There is proper asana adjustments, touch of philosophy (often absent in many studios), and enough humor to diffuse the self-criticism that may be going on in our heads about not being able to nail a pose or a transition.

So far my favorite yoga studio in the city, proper.

I love this place. Im not huge into yoga - I primarily do barre classes. I am going to add some yoga in for many reasons - and this for sure will be the place I choose to do it at. The energy is perfect. I took a beginner class and the cues were so good i felt like I was actually doing it right. I got great adjustments. The space is awesome. i love it. Im so glad i tried it.

This place made me fall in love with yoga, and I can't say I really liked it or tried it before. I'm now an unlimited member. This is a true yoga experience and a place I always feel welcomed to & welcomes all levels and all ages. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Warm, welcoming, and friendly place to do yoga. I don't go nearly as often as I should, but each time I've been to Shiva Shack I've left feeling happy, healthy, refreshed, and renewed. All the teachers are amazing. Definitely check it out!

Going to Shiva Shack is like going to a peaceful and cozy oasis of love and kindness. It was wonderful and very special to hear laughter during my most recent yoga class at Shiva Shack! Thank you Rich and Nora! Love, Sonia

I love this place. It's quiet and authentic and the instructors, especially Rich, seem called to yoga as their life's work. I have been to a half-dozen yoga studios in Wicker Park and Bucktown and Shiva Shack makes me feel at home with my practice. I'd suggest trying it if you are tired of the "yoga as a workout" aesthetic that seems to be prevailing these days.

Beautiful space and lovely yoga classes at Shiva Shack! They teach genuine, traditional yoga - not some manufactured neo-yogaerobics. Love them and can't wait to make them a more regular visit!

This studio blows my mind. Every single time I leave this place I feel amazing. I am completely in love with the space, teachers, and classes offered. Rich created a sacred space that allows creative expression, healing, and connection and definitely goes beyond the physical practice. Highly recommend for the beginner practitioner and seasoned yogi!
