I strongly recommend beginners attend classes here! Especially if you’re interested in exercise and movement in a fun way.
The ONLY con if you’re looking for consistency is if there are subs for a class, the learning will vary. It may be more advanced and the approach will be different. This was not an issue for me but it may be for some.
I have been taking classes at CAA since July 2025 & I absolutely love my experience! I began on a trial membership (highly recommend) and took each class offered for beginners once. I decided to purchase a Gold membership for $175/month and I have been attending ever since.
I really appreciate the flexibility of changing classes and scheduling make ups, they are so understanding and accommodating. The process is easy and the policy is very clear on the website and via auto emails.
Carmen is incredibly kind and remembered me each time I arrived! I absolutely LOVE my hammock classes with Josh! He is tremendously skilled, kind, and always has lovely stories to tell while we are learning. The open gym, aerial fitness, and flexibility classes are the best part of the Gold Membership. There are weeks I attend the gym 3-4 days because of these classes.
Ashley the owner is kind, honest, and very well informed. The classes are never more than 10 students and everyone is so welcoming. You’ve got students of all ages (literally, there were women in their 50s at an aerial fitness class one day) and from various ethnic/racial backgrounds all here for the joy and fun of movement.
I have no interest in being a circus professional or moving up various levels and that’s ok! Everyone moves at their own pace.

Chicago Aerial arts is an amazing space to train at. From their knowledgeable staff to many apparatuses up, they truly keep the passion of aerial arts in mind. If you are looking for fun, fitness, and community this is a great place to be.

Very Prejudice!!! The energy is very unwelcoming. They are CONDESCENDING and very subjective. I purchased a trial class twice which was claimed to not be acceptable. Was late the first time no problem with it, the second time they(a black woman) claimed it is no way for them to compliment the same amount of tardiness that was complimented the first time(with a pierced/forced vibe doing so, by a man). I will not recommend ANY urban black/african descent American to go here you will want a refund eventually!

This place does everything it can to rip people off. They charge a $50 application fee for their showcase which is outrageous for a 3-5 minute performance. If you’re not selected, that $50 is gone for nothing. They are incredibly greedy for charging performers on top of selling tickets to the event. Those tickets aren’t cheap, they range from $25 to $35. Here in Chicago, Cirque du Soleil tickets start at $51, and UniverSoul Circus tickets range from $14 to $85. But those are professional productions held at way better venues like the Lyric Opera. Why should anyone pay $25-$35 to watch amateur students perform in their own studio?
If you want to perform, check out the communion show at Aloft Circus Arts. Aloft doesn’t charge performers, and their ticket prices start at just $15 which is a much more reasonable rate to see emerging circus artists. Both Aloft and Chicago Aerial Arts claim that proceeds go toward reducing tuition, but the difference is clear: Aloft offers trial classes for only $16, while Chicago Aerial Arts charges $35. Where did all the money go? Whoever owns this place is insane to charge such a hefty price and pocket all the money.

Love this studio for lyra and I've tried hammock as well. You do have to buy a membership and go consistently. No a-la-carte class options here and you cannot change your apparatus back and forth. You can do multiple apparati but need to have the appropriate membership to have at least 1 class per week in each apparatus. Ceilings are high. Facilities are clean. No AC in the summer but they do their best with fans. Parking is easy and free once you figure out the app. Everyone is super nice. Cute decor. Not a lot of mirrors to see what you're doing. Would recommend buying their intro package for 2 weeks of unlimited level 1 classes!

I really enjoy my hammock classes at Chicago Aerial Arts. The staff is so friendly and motivating, especially the owner, Ashley; instructor, Josh, and the front desk assistant, Carmen.
I still have a long way to go, but I love the workout I get and how much I sweat.

I absolutely love taking classes at Chicago Aerial Arts, it’s not only empowering but every skill level is able to take classes, they also have so many fun events and workshops for members, they encourage growth and the community is truly wonderful. They offer trials so you can see if this studio is for you, they offer private classes, open gyms, flexibility training. I would encourage anyone to come and check them out I feel like you will not be disappointed at all. Everyone is above and beyond here.

If you’re thinking about trying aerial anywhere - TRY IT AT CHICAGO AERIAL ARTS. My time at CAA has been nothing short of incredible. I started with the 2 week intro offer and tried just about every apparatus there was. It was such a good deal and such a great way to break into the world of aerial arts. The classes are structured so well, and you can tell every instructor has a genuine passion for what they do, and a great deal of care for their students. They are so welcoming and inclusive, and everyone just wants each other to succeed. You will never walk into CAA and see someone without a smile on their face and I say that with 100% honesty. Every staff member and student is always so genuinely happy to be there. I really enjoy that no matter your level of experience, whether you’re brand new/a beginner or a seasoned aerialist, there’s something here for you. There is such a wide variety of classes and levels. They also throw really fun workshops and events every month which gives you EXTRA opportunities to get involved and try something new. The gym is massive but very well maintained; Everything is super clean. I can’t express enough how incredible this gym is. If you’ve ever thought about trying aerial.. silks, sling, Lyra, straps, trapeze, flexibility, KIDS classes, etc.. GO TO CAA. You will not regret it.

1. CAA cancels class due to low enrollment. I know that they have to make a profit as a business, but it’s annoying if you have already canceled your plans for the class. Other aerial places I go to like AIR Aerial Fitness and Get a Grip Trapeze still hold the class even if only one student is signed up.
2. Classes have no break between them. One Saturday, for example, open gym started immediately after the sling class. That class ended about five minutes late, then people cleaned the mat and asked questions. I didn’t get on the sling until nearly 10 minutes after open gym had officially started. Then, a kids’ class began right after open gym ended. So sometimes, you don’t actually get the full hour for your session. If you take two classes back-to-back, there’s no time for a water or restroom break in between. Every other workout place I’ve been to schedules at least a 10-minute gap between classes to allow for transitions and to ensure students get their full class time.
3. Some of their slings smells bad. It might be fine if you don’t open the fabric, but once you fan it out for poses like cocoon, you can be overwhelmed by the smell of sweat.
4. Their confirmation email says in bold, “PLEASE ARRIVE 15-20 MINUTES EARLY AS WE ARE A BIT OF A HIDDEN TREASURE!” Today, I arrived 30 minutes early to warm up, but was told the studio doesn’t open until open gym starts, so I had to wait outside for 30 minutes and warm up outside.
5. They recently stopped allowing people to play their own music during open gym even at very low volumes. I completely understand the change, but they should have sent an email to let us know or at least let me know when someone complains about my music. That way, I could have brought headphones for my two-hour open gym beforehand instead of being told after I was already on the apparatus.
6. They are not showcase-friendly if they don’t allow people to play their own music to practice their acts during open gym. Headphones can easily fall off due to movements in the air and sweat, which can be dangerous if someone lands on them on the mat. They should consider better policies, like allowing each person to play their own music for a portion of the time—such as 60 minutes divided by the number of people in open gym.
These are just facts and suggestions. I’ve attended their open gym about 20 times but only took classes for two weeks, so I can’t speak for their other offerings. I’ve read other reviews and believe many had a great experience, but the points I mentioned are still valid.

Amazing experience for my first intro class. Very informative, parking was covered, all the other attendees were nice and engaging even when having to share items. It was all time of people there to help with comfort. Very well put together environment. The instructors had a great sense of humor and demonstrating everything f precisely so anyone can learn. Very encouraging through the class. Also special deals to come back. Can’t wait to start my aerial journey I’ve always wanted to try this since dancing at like 10yrs old.

Chicago Aerial Arts is a great place to do something new and get a great workout. I did my first class over a year ago with zero experience in aerial/circus and it was welcoming and fun from the start. I always wanted to try cirque arts and the intro offer was a great way to test the waters. The staff was amazing at answering all my questions and they were A LOT. They've made it really accessible for someone who's completely new to this world.
I finally signed up for silks and I'm loving the learning and new skills. The teacher has been accommodating in providing challenges for my athletic level, while being throughout and safe for my skill level.
The people have been warm and welcoming and i'm always looking forward to my weekly class.

Chicago Aerial Arts is a great place to train! And who doesn’t love free parking!
I love the place and studio which is super inviting and cozy, and all the staff are very welcoming, positive, and so supportive! I love being a part of CAA aerial community and so happy I found this place to be able to express my aerial creativity (and on all apparatuses!) I also a big fan of open gym and being able to train on my own (which I’ve been doing hammock/silks for awhile).
Otherwise the place is super clean and organized, designated areas for shoes/jackets, and love the space between each apparatus in the space. Safety in aerial is always the top priority and CAA always has mats available for everyone (which should be used at all times).
10/10 recommend!! They offer a variety of levels from intro/ beginner & new levels and specialized limited workshops 😁

I attended the fall 2024 retreat with Chicago Aerial arts and had a wonderful time! The accomodations were thoughtfully positioned on a block with a lot of great food and shops and the kitchen was stocked with breakfast. Lunches were locally catered and there was a great balance of group activities and alone time after training each day. Training was provided in an excellent and spacious facility and was well balanced. There was a good mix of focused aerial classes and fun side mission classes, leaving everyone well-worked but not exhausted at the end of each day. Retreat staff were friendly and knowledgeable and everything ran so smoothly. I would definitely attend again!

I’ve been a student here for almost 2 years and I’ve learned so much. There have been changes since i’ve started here - some good some not so good. I feel I could’ve learned and progressed more had there been a consistent instructor and separate classes for trial students like it was before. When the change happened, there was a period of time where I felt I wasn’t able to get the most out of my membership as the instructors attention was split (not to any fault of their own) and as a result I was not being taught anything new. That’s not the case as much now since adapting to the change. I was not thrilled about the price increase at first but now that they’ve added more options to makeup classes the membership is more worthwhile now. However, everyone at the studio is kind, respectful, helpful and the overall atmosphere is encouraging and supportive. Also the studio is great about accommodating you if you’re late to class. The instructors are very knowledgeable, attentive and skilled. They always prioritize and emphasize safety. Definitely try if you’re looking for a fun way to work out and challenge yourself.

Signed up for a one year membership and partway through they changed the price and said if I wanted to cancel I would be charged a fee. Within that year of taking the same class I went through 6 different instructors not including the random sick fill ins. The curriculum was set by the trainers not the studio so it changed with every instructor. This resulted in new students being told to perform advanced moves in multiple of my classes. On top of this, they would double book the studio preventing us from doing the whole class and if there were trial students they would instruct us to do what we did last week and then ignore us.
I don't feel like I was provided the service I paid for.

Ashley is so attentive, patient and personable with us, but also challenging when she sees you have potential for growth. That’s a combo I like to have in a teacher! 5 stars in my book!

This place has been so good to me.
The way the classes are set up have improved my flexibility and strength and given such a lovely space to be artistic, it's absolutely an art along with a workout.
The instructors and owner make you feel at home and make space for you no matter what level or ability you are joining with.
i am very very grateful somewhere like Chicago Aerial Arts exists for me to be a part of <3

Came to Chicago Aerial Arts for a retreat and had an AMAZING time!! I had never really done lyra, hammock, or silks before but they helped me feel confident, comfortable, and excited! All the teachers were so helpful with cues and tips for my level. If you’re considering trying anything they have to offer, I say DO IT!!! I can’t wait to explore my new hobby!!

Recently attended the weeklong aerial retreat with Chicago Aerial Arts and absolutely LOVED the staff and facility. Absolutely worth your $$$ if you want to train with professionals that understand a wide range of skill levels. The owner, Ashley's years of experience is evident in her ability to empower students. It's like she can read minds as well as bodies in large group lessons, personalizing the approach. Vy is a fun and practical instructor who really shares her passion for circus. The facility is a gorgeously spacious 8000sqft, totally Instagramable and well-maintained. In love with ALLLLLL the space between each aerial point.
My favorite workshops were the sling, hula-hooping and duo acro workshops!
Ashley and Jen were amazingly accommodating and gracious hosts for the retreat. When not training, I had a great time exploring and supporting the recommended local businesses.

Chicago Aerial Arts is an amazing community. Ashley has created a welcoming space where aerial feels accessible to everyone who comes in the door. The instructors are all knowledgeable, flexible, and always willing to break things down or offer a challenge. The unlimited make-ups are a huge plus to help you keep up with your training. If you're thinking about trying aerial, sign up for a trial at CAA!

I love my hammock classes and really enjoy the environment! Since I do other aerial sports I figured I would enjoy hammock, but didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. The staff is lovely, friendly and create a very welcoming atmosphere for beginners and experts alike. It’s a supportive community and there are so many different options for classes, times and days. My one concern would be the price as I feel it does limit who is able to afford classes, however as it is a rather new small business still growing and evolving I totally understand the current price. They have different payment options to help those who might have trouble. Hopefully as even more people join the price continues to go down a little!

I went to the Spring Showcase and had an absolutely brilliant time. The staff put together an amazing show that truly shined a light on emerging talent and the hard work of the students. The space was well designed and maintained, and the impressive variety of specialized equipment, which allows students to explore various kinds of physical expression and performance art, puts Aerial Arts in the top tier of performance art training gyms in my opinion. Can't wait to see another show and recommend the gym to friends!

Chicago Aerial Arts is easy to find, has ample parking and a wonderful staff. The studio is clean and well-equipped, with room for changing, stretching as well as a superior aerial space. I can tell the owner really cares about their students, there are even tampons available for students with moon cycles! I loved my private session and really can’t wait to go back for more.

I purchased two tickets to the Spring Fundraiser Showcase to watch my friend's performance at 6:00pm and with traffic my boyfriend and I arrived late. We parked upstairs and tried to enter no later than 6:13 and could not as the doors were locked. We headed back downstairs and no luck entering there either. Another group was also locked outside.
I called this morning to share that I wish it would have said on the tickets/event info that doors close at a specific time and reopen at x time. I spoke with Ashley, the owner, and she responded that for the safety of the performers the doors are kept locked for showtime, which I totally understand. What I do not understand is why there was no notice of that anywhere. The only sign outside said doors open 30 min prior to showtime. Ashley also said the doors were open until 6:20 but that was not true. She immediately said she would not give me a refund and it was my loss. I think this could've been handled differently (signs at the location and information provided ahead of time) and more professionally (the owner used a short and rude tone. Did not take any responsibility). I was really interested in seeing my friend perform to see if I would want to join and take a class in the future. I will not after this bad experience with the owner.

Chicago Aerial Arts is not only a gym, but a home.
Ashley is the best teacher anyone could ask for. I learn so much from her and she is the best to talk to. Even though I’m younger than the rest of the students I’m treated as an equal.
I’m so glad at this studio, you have a performance opportunity! Anything you wanna create, they’ll help you. Not to mention, there studio is amazing! I’m so glad the ceilings are high enough to do drops.
It’s also a great community. Aside from classes, they have workshops with professionals and aerial arts retreats!

I’ve been in the aerial and pole scene since 2020 and have been to many studios across the nation. I am very picky about where I spend my money and time as I was so fortunate to find a magical space when I first started that I wanted to make sure I continued going to spaces that felt the same. So you can trust this review:
Chicago Aerial Arts has been my home here in Chicago. I was really nervous coming to Chicago and doing aerial as the options are slim but that doesn’t matter when there is a place like CAA!
Not only do I get quality training, the atmosphere is very welcoming and inclusive of all walks of life. I’m very fortunate to find this space

If you’re been wanting to try aerial but you’re a chronic class quitter, just give it a month. I’ve always wanted to do aerial, but I’ve had some physical limitations that have always caused me to drop various workouts, either because it was too painful or because I felt like I couldn’t keep up with the class - not the case with aerial. This is the only class I’ve been able to keep going to, and that’s because it’s supportive and just so fun! I’m finding motivation that I wasn’t able to tap into for any other athletic endeavor.
The class itself is broken into warm up and stretching, conditioning, and then trying out new aerial moves. The classes are supportive and the instructors are knowledgeable and fun. I’ve been coming here for 8 months, taking hammock level 1 with Ashley, Jessica, and Mary, and I’ve benefitted from all of their experience and their unique styles of coaching.
If you’re thinking about it, give it a try!

UPDATE: I’m back after an 8 month hiatus for travel. And it’s even better and more renovated. CAA took over the entire gym so there’s a lot more space and more apparatuses.
I recently started silks Lvl2 about a month ago. It’s shared in a gym with Cheer Destiny. I like this location. Lots of parking on the street and on top of the roof (uncovered). The gym is nice. Staff is friendly.
Chicago Aerial Arts is a great place to learn silks, lyra, etc. Sylvi is a great teacher and so is Phillip! If your on the fence about trying this place out.. stop it and get your butt in there. It’s a lot of fun and you meet cool people. I’ve learned a good amount in the few short weeks I’ve been here but I what I love most is how I feel after each class! Highly recommend!

There are no words I could use to summarize this place because those words have yet to be invented. I suppose the closest word would be Home.
Chicago Aerial Arts is a place where you can come after a long day at work and be yourself. A place where no one cares where you are from or your past but instead a place where they are just happy to have you there.
It is run by some of the most genuine and passionate people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in this lifetime. A place where true artists can truly experience creativity and new adventures. An amazing business run by an amazing owner and her incredible staff. A truly wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend if it’s your first time going to Chicago Aerial Arts don’t be afraid or nervous, but to embrace it.

Story time. When TikTok got big, I started watching videos of aerialists and I just loved it. I had tried an aerial yoga class a few years back but felt super uncomfortable there - after the one class, I never went back. When I first reached out to Chicago Aerial Arts, I was super nervous. I was 28 and had zero experience. I felt silly. But the owner, Ashley, was the one who called me to set up my trial class. She answered all my questions and told me that CAA was structured around teaching aerial to ALL levels - even someone who had never done it before.
When I got to my first class, my anxiety hit me really hard. I kept thinking "I am never going to be able to do this." But... I did! And Ashley was there to support me the whole way. She helped set me at ease, and after my first class I committed to an entire year of membership because I wanted to keep learning. Here I am, 8 months later and I am HOOKED. I love going to my weekly class. The people are welcoming and friendly, and everyone is learning so the environment feels completely comfortable. I always leave feeling stronger and more confident than I did when I walked in. Highly, highly recommend Chicago Aerial Arts!

While the art, itself, is fun and cool, the studio’s billing and scheduling policies are a bit arbitrary and make getting your money’s worth very difficult. I paid for two months of membership and was only able to attend two classes due to studio policies, studio closures, and a lack of clarity in addressing my questions and concerns.

I've been with CAA for several years and I've watched the space grow into one of the best aerial studios in Chicago. The instructors are extremely talented and supportive - they are dedicated to help you grow as an aerialist and respect the level you are at. The space is huge which has been great for social distancing, they offer parking, the equipment is washed and professionally rigged and they supply mats (very important!). In addition to the basics, they focus on conditioning AND theory. They always run extra workshops to cater to a variety of different trainings/skills. Highly recommend this space to everyone from beginners to professionals!

Love, LOVE, LoVe this experience! Not only is it a much more enjoyable workout than at the gym, it’s an opportunity to share a fun activity with amazing people. I’ve never done anything like this before, and Ashley is so patient and talented, she makes you that much more confident as you build your skill set.
I would recommend this to all my family and friends, because how often can you say “my new passion is hanging upside in the air like the Cirque du Soleil people” (or the easiest way to explain it to someone that has never heard of/ seen it.)
The free trial is a great starting block, but don’t just stop there. There are a variety of classes and levels that will keep you coming back for more. With their team managing appropriate covid restrictions at the location, you forget about the crazy reality outside and get lost in the bliss of what’s in front of you with each class.
