Clark Street is the best! The community is so supportive of all members and it is clear from the first time you walk in the door. All coaches take genuine interest in helping you meet your goals and improve your technique. It has been really fun to learn new skills at this gym! 😊

Solid spot in the South Loop for getting after it. The coaches know their stuff and keep it real—shoutout to Ken for always keeping me on track. The On Ramp program was clutch for easing in, and the semi-private sessions are legit. Only knock is the class times can be tight if you work a 9-5. But if you’re looking to get stronger without the bro gym vibes, this is it.

I've been a member of this CrossFit gym for 5 years now, and it's truly been a life-changing experience. In that time, I've become healthier, stronger, and more confident in what my body can do. The coaches are knowledgeable and supportive, always pushing me to improve while making sure I move safely and correctly.

But what’s made the biggest difference is the community. I’ve built lasting friendships with people who motivate and inspire me every day. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out, this gym makes you feel welcome and part of something bigger. I'm incredibly grateful to call this place my fitness home.

I began at CSCF doing personal training with Ken. He was patient with me but also knew how to push me just past my comfort zone. One day, he encouraged me to start coming to the group classes. I was nervous at first but that quickly faded because the environment was super welcoming and the members are so encouraging. The coaches are top notch and because of their guidance, I've been able to reach PRs that I never thought possible. It's been more than 3 years since I first stepped in the door and I can honestly say it's been one of the best decisions for my physical, mental, and emotional health! I hope to stay a long, long time and would recommend it to anyone, from the seasoned athlete to someone completely new to crossfit.

I’ve changed a lot of gyms and fitness centers since I moved to Chicago, and Clark Street Community Fitness has been so far the only gym I’ve stayed long enough. The atmosphere is great, community is super friendly, I met a lot of nice people here. The coaches are super helpful, adjust the workout per your skill level (I am new to CrossFit), pay attention, provide the necessary support, demonstrate everything. I also like all the social events at the gym and outside of it (especially workouts in the park in summer). This gym is a neighborhood gem and I tell everyone to come join it. I really feel great since I joined. Five starts, and I mean it! This is me typing the review, not an AI :-)

Clark Street Community Fitness continues to be an amazing gym. The coaches are always ready to help and have put together great programing. When you take Clark Street’s coaches, programing, added to its friendly and encouraging community, you will see how strong you can become. I've seen how I have been able to get stronger, faster, and mentally tough at my time at here. I 100% recommend coming in and checking it out! If you are injured, the coaches will find a modification so you can still participate and be active.

I want to add the community engagement make it so much fun to go to the gym, meet new people, and keep accountable to your physical goals! What makes it fun is how the community is diverse in fitness ability, age, and goals.

Thanks Clark Street Community Fitness!

Joined CSCF after my last gym closed in 2019 and I'm so glad I did! The people are friendly and wonderful- there are a range of experience levels but we cheer each other on the same regardless. The coaches are supportive and approachable. There are regular social events and activities that pull the community together and make this a fun place to be.

The new location is amazing and easily accessible. Super easy to park.

All the workouts can be scaled based on individual abilities and needs and once a week there is typically a partner workout, which is a nice opportunity to make friends.

Awesome environment, great members, and my body has never looked better or been stronger. I had a spinal injury last year and after a year of PT I needed to keep building upon the strength I developed. Ken has been amazing at keeping tabs on my progress and modifying as needed to ensure there are no other injuries.

I travel a lot for work and pleasure, which means I drop into gyms across the US and abroad, there have only been 2 gyms that I’ve been to that hold the community standard for CrossFit (one of them being my home gym) - Clark Street has now made that 3. Immediately walking in I was approached by 3 members, the owner and the coach all introducing themselves and striking up conversations. But that wasn’t the only redeeming quality. After doing CrossFit for over 5 years, you have a keen sense for BS programming, Clark Street passed that test with flying colors. The day I dropped in was a benchmark WOD, the warm up hit all the points to properly prepare the athletes and no time was wasted from minute one to 60 including accessory and cool down work (don’t see that very often!!!). Lastly, as a drop in, I haven’t experienced many coaches that willingly coach a drop in athlete for whatever reason, Vicky didn’t hesitate when she saw something I could be doing better.

Overall - I am very much looking forward to coming back to Chicago and I know where I’ll be headed for a top tier CF workout

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK CSCF COACHES AND COMMUNITY

Although our time here was short, we enjoyed every class here at Clark St. The coaching staff is awesome. Community is friendly, supportive, and welcoming. Programming was excellent. My wife and I wish we had a little more time here before moving out of the neighborhood!

Would highly recommend to anyone who lives nearby or is looking for a place to drop in!

I was in town for a conference and was lucky enough to find CSCF, which was only a 2 min walk from where I was staying. The coaches and community were so welcoming and I ended up dropping in for 3 classes throughout my trip. Ken went above and beyond in communication and making sure I was all set, and even made local recommendations! Definitely recommend dropping in if you're in the area!

CSCF is a wonderful gym with terrific attentive coaches who make sure the workouts are fun and scaled to your abilities. The workouts are a mix of weight training and cardio, and always scalable. The gym is clean and well lit. Also, the members are one of the best parts of this gym! They are super welcoming and supportive which makes you feel great to walk in no matter what your skills are.

Generally a good spot to work out. I think the owner is doing this to build community and help people get and stay fit. Good programming, which when I went was developed by Jason Khalipa. Also the people are nice and they aren’t snobs or obsessed with gainz and numbers on the white board. The trainers are high quality professionals. I shaved three minutes off my 10,000 meter row time after just one coaching session with Vova.

Probably the best part is Ken, the owner, goes out of his way to adjust both the programming and the facility to meet the needs of his community.

Only downside is the cost. But what are you gonna do it’s Chicago at least now after WODs at Clark Street I can outrun the robbers and dodge the bullets.

Update 1/14/24:
I'm happy to give another 5 star review. The new location is really, really nice. It is clean and also as comfortable as a gym can be. The coaches are outstanding!! They are focused not only on form but also proper scaling for those of us who need adjustments to our workouts. Another 5 stars goes to the welcoming community; such a nice group of people!

I’ve been a member at CSCF since they opened. What a neighborhood gem! The community of people are supportive and kind. Coaches are intentional about pushing you to your abilities while also being conscious about any special scaling you might need. I’m still recovering from a traumatic car accident yet the coaches had me back as soon as I was able and modified everything to fit my needs. I also enjoy working out alongside some elite athletes. It’s just a great place to be!!

I have been a member of this gym since December 2021 and it was the best decision! CSCF is so much more then a gym, it is truly a community and feels like home. The coaches and athletes here are the best and will cheer you on and support you every step of the way. No matter what level you are starting off at, you are always encouraged to set own goals and work towards them here. The coaches take the time to make sure that you learn to do the movements correctly. This gym recently relocated to a new facility in the South Loop, and I am thrilled for the grand (re)opening!

I joined CSCF on a whim as a way to get out of the house a bit during Covid. I had no idea I would find a family there. I had never done Crossfit before, but the coaches helped me build my confidence and learn all the movements. A year later, Crossfit is a permanent part of my routine and I have never felt more motivated and excited to go work out. No matter where you are in your fitness journey, this is a great place to build a community and healthy habits.

Hands down the best gym in the area. Moved to Chicago/joined here (edit) almost a year and tried all of the other crossfit type gyms in the area. Very much recommend this place.

Wow! I never thought I would find myself FOMOing from gym time, but this speaks volumes to the motivating, fun, and challenging environment of CSCF.

I have been coming to the group classes for about 10 months and have been improving my fitness little by little, learning new skills, and making new friends. I attribute this to the knowledgeable, helpful coaches and the supportive community. This is a great place for fitness for everyone, no matter your starting point, your physical abilities, or your experience. For me, I used to go to a communal gym in my work building (pre-quarantine) with some group classes for HIIT, yoga, spin etc., so some CrossFit elements were a bit foreign. But after Chicago gyms started opening back up, I decided to give CSCF a try and haven't looked back since!

I would highly recommend CSCF!

Been a member for a little under a year after taking some time off from CF due to the pandemic. Def made the right choice to rejoin this particular box! I’m new to CrossFit and I worked with Ken to build my foundation when it comes to proper form/techniques in performing the common CrossFit lifts. The classes are structured really well and the coaches make sure everyone is doing the WOD properly and safely. The gym camaraderie among other members is amazing! You’ll get support from the coaches as well as other members in your fitness journey. I highly recommend this gym to anyone whether you’re new to CrossFit or had years of experience. If you’re new like me, they have an intro program to get you started so you’ll be ready to attend their classes.

I dropped into Clark Street CrossFit to do my 20.3 workout. This place is the epitome of CrossFit. Melody, the coach, was great. We love Clark Street CrossFit. My husband and I were in Chicago for 6 weeks for work, and we were able to get a short-term membership. We had an excellent experience. My husband is more advanced with CrossFit, and he trained mainly with Greg. Greg gave some great coaching tips that were very helpful. Greg also made our whole family feel very welcome. I asked for help making a special (challenging) Father’s Day workout for my husband, and he went the extra mile for us. It was a highlight for our family this summer. I trained with Ken. I had taken a year off of working out with our fourth child (& I had a fourth c-section). I lost a lot in that year, but Ken did a great job pushing me to recapture what I had lost in a very encouraging way. He also did a great job in training me to do moves safely (I don’t have an ACL in one knee). I saw him help others scale their workouts to be both safe & effective. Clark Street CrossFit is a great place for anyone to try CrossFit. All ability levels are represented, and the coaching is excellent. We also appreciate the family like atmosphere of the gym. It is very welcoming. If you are looking for a gym, we highly recommend Clark Street CrossFit.

Going to the gym can be intimidating but everyone at CSCF is incredibly welcoming and encouraging! The owner Ken is super friendly and the head coach Greg is fantastic. I had injured my knee in the fall and both Ken and Greg made sure I felt comfortable and safe coming back to the gym. Greg went out of his way to make sure that I understood how to modify the workouts until I was back to 100%. I was able to focus on other areas and make progress while allowing my knee to heal. CrossFit can be really intimidating but Ken and Greg have made this gym a place where everyone feels welcome.
