Lots of equipment. However, there are many treadmills out of order and there seem to always be a couple weight machines out of order as well.

The men’s room almost always smells horrible.

And finally, the gym is supposed to open at 4:30 am on weekdays. I get being a few minutes late, but sometimes I can show up at 5:30-6 and the doors are locked.

They need a backup plan if the front desk person is sick or calls out.

Boring gym. Bathrooms always smell like urine. Treadmills are often broken. A quarter of the lights should be replaced, it’s pretty dark at night inside the gym.

The gym’s vibe is also horrible: everyone stands around and a few actually work out. 90% of members are guys. Crowd tends to be heavily blue collar, with the attitudes to match.

The staff is friendly and it’s usually empty. Overall, I’d avoid this location.

**WOMEN BEWARE** male staff are in the women’s restrooms while female members are using the restroom.

I’m disappointed with my experience at this gym. While the facility has the basics, it falls short in important areas. The cleanliness is inconsistent, and staff don’t seem attentive to member concerns. I expected a higher standard for a corporate gym and would not recommend this gym to others.

This gym gets more ghetto each day I go. Half of the treadmills are not working and it’s probably been like that for a month or two now. There’s also so many machines that are broken and never fixed. Just sitting there to rot…. I’m just glad I’m not a man because that bathroom looks horrendous from those pictures I’ve seen😭

Update 7/26/25: I’ll say it improved a bit. Not as many broken machines. Same old same place otherwise lol . But I mean it’s a good basic gym what can I say.

I’ve been traveling across the country and decided to drop in for a class at Crunch in Mt. Prospect, so glad I did! Kim was a fabulous instructor. I felt amazing getting a full-body workout and getting my heart rate up. Some of the stations were new to me, but Kim took the time to walk me through each one and made sure I felt comfortable. Great energy and great experience!

I’ve been going to this Crunch location for almost two years now. I enjoy working out here and it’s a very convenient location for me. The staff is friendly, the sauna is a solid amenity, and the drink selection at the front is helpful — especially when I forget my own water bottle. That said, there are a few core areas that need attention. I’m leaving this feedback in hopes that improvements are made, because I’d really like to continue going here long-term.

Bathrooms:
The men’s bathroom needs some serious upkeep. The urinals frequently have nicotine pouches in them, and their close spacing is uncomfortable. The floor mats have blue foam that looks unhygienic, and the sink area is often below standard. Soap dispensers are usually jammed or empty, and for a while the hand dryers didn’t work — the temporary solution was wet rolls of paper towels. Adding a permanent paper towel dispenser would help. The middle stall in the men’s bathroom has no lock, and the sink water pressure and temperature are inconsistent.

Equipment:
There are only four adjustable cable stations, which tend to break down often. The fixed cables on the ends aren’t as versatile or smooth. There’s also a lack of essential equipment:
• Stairmasters are never all working at once, and sometimes the steps glitch.
• Only two adjustable pec decks, which are always in use.
• Clips for barbells are constantly missing; I’ve had to ask the front desk for them multiple times.
• Dumbbells don’t include 12.5, 17.5, or 22.5 lb weights — only 10, 15, 20, etc., which makes progression harder.
• Limited cable attachments — only one decent close-grip handle, and I’ve seen people bring their own MAG grips, which should really be provided by the gym.

Steam Room:
The steam room is currently open but non-functional, with a vacuum and cords left inside. There’s no signage indicating it’s out of order.

Water Access:
There’s no water bottle filling station — only water fountains, which have an odd taste. I usually have to twist the spout and awkwardly fill my bottle that way.

Good Things:
• Staff: Always friendly, welcoming, and helpful.
• Sauna: Great size and temperature — a big part in recovery.
• Drinks: Wide selection of beverages at the front.
• Music: Even though I use headphones, the music playing in the gym is usually great.

Final note:
I’m only leaving this review because I genuinely want this gym to be the best it can be. I enjoy coming here, but these issues have been persistent. I’d love to see some updates and fixes that match the quality of the staff and location.

I was looking for a fitness center in Mount Prospect and Crunch Fitness was the best choice I made. All of the staff members are super friendly and kind. I worked with Kevin for a month as my personal fitness trainer and managed to lose over 3% of my total body fat in 1 month. He goes all out in his fitness plans for each member. He truly cares and pushes each person he trains especially those backward lunges Lol 😂

I recently visited this gym while traveling through Illinois and was a bit disappointed. A lot of the machines seemed outdated and worn down, and the overall atmosphere didn’t feel very clean. The sauna, in particular, had a funky smell that made it hard to relax. It just didn’t have the fresh, welcoming vibe I usually look for in a gym. Definitely could use some updates and better maintenance.

I was traveling from Iowa, I had an issue with my account. However, Nikki at the front desk was very nice, informative and eager to get my account issue resolved! She gave me a rundown of the gym layout and was just super awesome to work with. For that alone I would recommend the gym.

The gym when compared to the Urbandale Iowa location is dated. It has nice machines, all work and availability for those machines were pretty good as well. They are just not brand new, not an issue at all, the machines again work fine. Just not the most inspirational environment. If you’re a hard worker and actually care about your own well-being and body it shouldn’t be an issue

This place is overrun with high school kids nearly every day. Not necessarily the gym’s fault, but they act how you would expect. They treat the equipment like crap (which is why half of it is broken) and are in general obnoxious.

Workers are meh. Cleanliness is barely passable.

This place needs a lot of work. After visiting other Crunch locations, this one is sad. A lot of broken equipment, not clean, no paper towel dispensers. Other places opening up in the area I am considering switching to.

Last few years the gym has gone downhill
Poor management and whoever owns the location has never put a dime since opening it up
Staff in front are not helpful or social to customers
Multiple issues of water damage and recently the gym stinks from the water damage that wet the turf
Of course no one is replacing
Patched up walls
Broken machines all the time
And never one new piece of equipment
I would not recommend this location at all
So disappointed
What a waste of money

I have zero complaints. For the super low membership price, I get to work out on my own, basically whenever I want, before work, before church, after, work, and even late at night; and have been able to do bootcamp classes at the Mt Prospect location and other surrounding locations. I use the ellipticals, stair masters, weights, and use the turf for some HIIT training. Wednesday night boot camp classes are the best. Shout out to Coach Luz. She is my favorite coach I have had a chance to train with so far. Definitely recommend!

I've been a member for over a year and I can definitely agree with all the other reviews written. Crunch used to be a decent gym, but it's gone downhill. Every other treadmill is broken and they haven't been fixed in months. I've only seen technicians in here ONCE or maybe TWICE to fix them and even then, I don't think they were fixed. The steam room in the women's locker room has been broken for as long as I can remember. The sauna is constantly broken/out of service. The hydro massage is also broken. I asked the front desk when it would be fixed and they said they had no idea.. These are amenities that people want, come for AND PAY FOR. The staff is underpaid and definitely don't want to be here. They drop like flies. Gigi, however, is the sweetest and most helpful out of everyone here. I love coming in and seeing her welcoming smile. It's always nice to talk and catch up with her. She deserves a raise! Same with trainers. I've seen them go through handfuls of employees at a time. I feel like every time I come in, there's a new face. The cleaning lady even talks about how she hates it here and I haven't seen her in over a week. I'm currently on the treadmill typing this and the woman next to me RUNNING FULL SPEED, her treadmill randomly stopped and gave an alert saying "key down". That's beyond dangerous. What am I paying a BASE membership of $20 for? I could only imagine how the people who pay more money for a membership feel. Not to mention, they never charge me the same time every month. Isn't that part of a membership? Getting charged the same date every month? I'd suggest taking your service somewhere else

I really gave this place some time to just get better but clearly that's not on their agenda. Ever since Mike, the manager, left this place was left to rot with terrible management. The female manager is often relaxing up front. It's evident in the list of broken machines, dry wall patching throughout the gym & good employees dropping like flies. The only reason they get a 2 star is for the 2 very helpful & friendly employees, Gigi & Ivaylo.

This location seems poorly managed because the equipment is often broken, this could be because of the high traffic though. As far as gym franchises go, Crunch is the absolute worst. They have a lot of fees that are not brought up with membership fees that cost over 100$ annually. So you're really paying minimum 50$ a month. Go to any other gym. Crunch sucks.

Beware: Predatory Practices and Deceptive Charges!

I joined this gym with high hopes but was quickly disappointed. Despite the promise of flexibility and transparency, I found myself ensnared in a web of hidden fees and inflexible policies. The customer service is virtually non-existent, making it impossible to address billing issues or cancel the membership without jumping through endless hoops. The gym facilities themselves are mediocre at best, not justifying the high price tag and the stress of dealing with their predatory billing tactics. I strongly advise anyone considering this gym to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other fitness centers that offer better services, transparent pricing, and respect for their members. Avoid at all costs!

Gym etiquette is non-existent and no one who works here enforces it. People will grab plates from bench presses (only having 3 is abysmal, there should at least be twice that amount) when it's completely unnecessary, spend far too long on high-demand equipment, and leave weights strewn all over the place, I've even seen weights left in the locker room before.

This also used to be a 24-hour gym that now closes at 11 most nights and only 7PM on weekends. The only time you can really get to a machine without circling like a vulture is in the last hour and a half before closing on weeknights or really early in the morning, otherwise it's overcrowded.

It’s very sad to see how this gym went down. It’s very, very dirty. The gym mats were taken away after Covid, for 2 years there was no equipment in the main aerobics room ( just 2 stinky mats that were a serious biohazard) The cleaning solutions were taken away together with the paper towels on one side of the gym so you can’t even clean the equipment before/after yourself if wanted to. Joined the gym since it was close, and it makes a good effort to have updated equipment such as platforms and squat racks. However, the gym is extremely dirty. I was going 3-5 times a week and more than half the time there wouldn’t be paper towels or wipes to clean equipment, trash would be overflowing, and men’s shower smelled like something died in there at all times. I understand people are short-staffed and it can’t be perfect but it always felt like there were 3-4 people standing at the front of the gym doing nothing.

Gym etiquette from other peers was also mediocre at best (Weights all over floor, people using multiple machines / areas, etc.). This obviously didn’t help contribute to the overall gym functionality and enjoyment. Tough to set the culture standards with all that going on. Overall a really disappointing gym goer experience.

Don’t sign up to this gym. It will be a hassle to cancel membership. They will tell you to email and wait for 10 days. If you don’t hear anything from them, they advise to send email again. Not worth it!!! Go somewhere else.

I just had a Crunch One Kick Off with Adrian yesterday, after talking about my goals and coming up with a plan he made me feel very hopeful and very excited about going back on a fitness journey, he really helped me see that the gym should be a place for me to be free of stress and just be myself and it’s the place I can go for comfort and create healthy habits. He was also very good at giving direction and showing by example. He also gave me good recommendations for protein and iron supplements and help me do exercises that I can do while I have tendinitis. He is one of the best if not the best trainers/staff members I’ve gotten to work with (next to Kim Briski who’s an amazing group fitness instructor, and is the best mom)

Thank you again Adrian for making our session fun and informative. 😁

I don’t know where to start, I only come to this gym to use the sauna and when I ask when it will be ready for use, the direct AGM Adrian told me “ It’s because of Covid” I asked him why they are charge me 65+ for annual fees and he stated “ Atleast all the other machines are working “

Really nice gym with great hours. I've been a member for a few years now, and recently management did implement some welcome improvements. The staff is also very nice and helpful when needed.

Update: the workout area has gotten significantly busier since the COVID restrictions were lifted. And the gym is cutting down hours to pre-covid schedule starting May 1st. I will wait to see how this will affect the machine wait times. I may switch to a different gym if wait times become too much to bear.

I don’t understand why this place has good reviews. There are never squat racks open in the evening (they’re always hogged by groups of teenage dudes) and the floor is so disgusting the dirt literally stained the knees on my leggings. Go somewhere else this place isn’t worth your time. The floor isn’t the only thing that needs to be washed either the weights seem like they haven’t had a wipe down since the place was built. Gross!!!

Wow! This place haven’t changed or been cleaned in years. Filthy to say the least. I can understand not replacing equipment but what’s the excuse for not cleaning it? Will not be going back.

4 years I've been a member of this gym with nothing but praise. I used to come on Sundays with my teen boys and work out. The staff used to just let us walk in (because they knew us) workout and go home. They let both sign in as guests knowing they only came on Sundays and i referred a lot of patrons to the gym. Enter in 2022 when they change over staff. Let's talk about Disree. A woman with a strange God like complex about the gym and her position as...shall we call it bouncer for entry. I show up on a Sunday with my boys and immediately I'm stopped and interrogated about the boys just signing in. I explained I was going to sign them in as guests. She proceeded to tell me my membership doesn't warrant that. I said ok so we'll just go work out and I'll settle up with you when I leave. She was rude and kurt to me telling me I'm not going to dictate how she does her job. Ok I said. I left I will be canceling my member ship and make sure everyone I've referred pulls there's and will tell people to go elsewhere. Disree your customers service is appalling. True definition of a Karen in business.

Membership here is a trap/scam. You will be misinformed about the cancellation procedure and you would have to pay the price. They make it impossible to cancel. Customer service is a joke. Apparently managers are always on conference calls/meetings/ or not present at the gym. Stay away from here. Go for other options.

Love the equipment, environment, and different programs they offer here! The only thing I wish they would have are disinfectant wipes to wipe down the equipment of a spray bottle and paper towels.
*update: they now have a few wipe dispensers!! It's so much easier to clean/wipe stuff down.*

The facility is decent but David , the personal trainer is who the 5 starts are for.

David has helped me achieve my goals by doing just half of the things suggested. I only followed his workout program, which gave me the abs I was wanting, while still eating pretty much everything I enjoyed because I love food! Working with David, I never had give up dessert nor cheeseburgers. Our sessions were great and he always took his time and never rushed me, which I loved. He was always there with a list of exercises to do even on the days when we didn’t have sessions. He has got the old school knowledge with a modern twist and that’s what makes him rare and amazing! I never thought good personal trainers existed in a world filled with influencer, until I worked with David. I’m very particular when it comes to workout programs and the different approaches, as I come from an intense background in kinesiology and sport studies, David is the only personal trainer I will never hesitate to recommend to people I know and to continue working with him.

I trained with David for a little over 6 months before I went to college, and he is absolutely fantastic! He made the whole process much less intimidating as well as made my training sessions something I looked forward to all week. He pushed my limits so far past what I thought I was capable of, and made it fun in the process. He's so fun to be around and always motivated me when I was having a tough day. If you need a trainer, I definitely recommend going to him! I can't wait to come back and train with him again when I get back.

What can I say, this gym is amazing, and Keith (manager) goes above and beyond!! I joined after Covid lifted its restrictions and got an amazing price, basically paying for 2 people for the price of one. It's so good that I bought another year, gym is always clean and even though it's getting packed, I won't stop coming. I been a LA Fitness guy for over 20 years, but unless they close down Crunch, I ain't going back!

In my almost 10 years of lifting and working in gyms, I’ve never been to a nastier gym. Trash cans are always overflowing, wipes are never replenished, the bathrooms smell like a homeless persons cardboard bed, weights are scattered throughout the gym, resistance pulleys are always broken/REALLY need WD-40, and dust bunnies are everywhere. There’s a ton of kids working there and it looks exactly how you’d expect a gym ran by teenage boys would look like. Just because a gym is cheap, doesn’t mean it has to be dirty. If you have any respect for yourself and your dollar, look else where. Will add pictures if Google lets me after posting.

I went in to workout and I wasn't disappointed. It may not have been the cleanest or all of the other things you notice when you are sitting on a piece of equipment surfing your phone complaining about what you see instead of knocking out your sets, wiping down the station and moving on. Yeah, some of the spray bottles were empty but I could find one that was usable. The restroom wasn't to die for but I didn't go in there to hang out and chit chat or watch everyone coming in and out. The staff was friendly and that made me happy. Great workout at a good gym!

Used to love this gym until the reopening after the pandemic. Can't expect a 5 star luxury for the price, however, college bars bathrooms are cleaner than this gym's bathrooms. Not a pleasant experience holding your breathe to get in and out of the locker room as fast as possible. The showers seem to never have been cleaned. The equipment that breaks stays broken for months on end. The young crowd that works plays games on their phones instead of working the gym. Currently in the search for a different gym. What a shame as this location is most convenient.

I loved this place when they opened but the upkeep of the facilities has gotten awful. The bathrooms reak of urine, the turf area doesn't seem like it's been vacuumed since the facility opened, broken equipment goes unrepaired, and the front desk staff refuses to address these issues when they're pointed out. Shame to see such a good facility go under such disrepair.
