Nice gym, great equipment, awesome atmosphere, but if you have kids don’t count on the Kid’s Crunch employee to show up to work half the time. I can’t count the number of times I’ve showed up to workout just to be told that the employee just didn’t show up. It’s a very nice amenity to have that not all gyms in the area offer, but it doesn’t really matter if you can’t even use it half the time, especially considering you have to pay for a pricier membership in order to use it.

I want to preface this by saying I only write reviews if places are genuinely horrible enough to earn them and this Crunch 100% earns it.

I was a member at this Crunch for almost a year before I had to cancel my membership due to moving across the country to an apartment complex with a gym. First, they tried to convince me to keep it and switch to a different Crunch gym, but when I explained I didn't need a membership, they had me fill out the cancellation forms. However, they never actually cancelled my membership. When I saw the charges on my card the next month, I reached out to them and provided proof of my cancellation so they would cancel it. They said they would take care of it. They didn't. The next month, I had to contact my bank to block my card and file disputes for two extra months of charges. I called Crunch and told them I was still being charged and asked them again to take care of it. They still didn't cancel. Fast forward FOUR MONTHS, and I'm getting texts, calls, emails, and voicemails from Crunch every single week harassing me to pay my invoice despite me cancelling my membership and not stepping foot in any Crunch gym since June. Today I spoke to a kind woman on the phone that finally admit they never actually cancelled the membership, and that if I tried to cancel it on the app the GM would take care of it. However, the GM has proven to be largely useless as he is completely unresponsive despite saying he would take care of things in July, August, and September.

There are a ton of gyms in the BloNo area. The only thing special about this one is that they scam their customers and seem to have an abundance of incompetent employees. Go literally anywhere else.

I moved away and have tried everything to cancel my membership. I’ve called multiple times and spoken with different managers — each giving me different instructions. One said it couldn’t be done over the phone and that I needed to come in or send a letter.

My yearly membership has already ended, yet I’m still being charged under a no-commitment plan at a higher rate. I even drove two hours back to the club to cancel in person and was told I just needed to wait for the year to end. Despite that, the charges continue.

Today I called again and was told the only way to cancel was through the app, but every time I try, it gives me an “error occurred” message. I understand that gyms often make cancellations difficult, but this situation feels unreasonable and misleading. Please resolve this immediately and confirm that my membership has been fully canceled and refunded.

Decent quality gym for what you pay for but if you have any problem at all inside the gym the staff is genuinely useless, 10/19/25 the Lady working the front desk from 1-3 was rude and standoffish did not care about anything other than their phone and clearly could not care less about her job, do better. The front desk at this location is an utter joke.

Horribly ran from top to bottom. They make it so hard to cancel your membership. Waste your time by having you come up there multiple times to talk to Parker who is 0 help, but insures you he will resolve the problem. Final result is they add multi late fees and send the balance to collections. Avoid this gym at all cost.

I am a member but I’m disappointed on some things. Everytime I’ve come in, most of front desk is on their phones. It would be nice to see a smiling face and acknowledge me. I’ve been coming for 2 months and no one asked why I never had a card to check in with.Ive ran a front desk at a gym so that’s I’m mentioning these things. Front desk should be promoting pt and new classes and getting familiar with clientele. Why not contests to motivate your members. Just a few thoughts.

This situation is beyond your rules and regulations. My son who is a 17 year old in high school decided that on a Saturday night he wanted to go to the gym. With all of the choices young teens make on a Saturday night, he made a choice to be healthy and stay out of trouble. He collected what he thought was $10 and half of it was in change because he was that serious about getting into the gym, but your management turned him away because he was 4 QUARTERS SHORT. A dollar short and you couldn’t just let him in for an hour and a half? It’s beyond greed and unsupportive of our young teenagers in our community. Do better.

Hey Crunch, Please make sure you are staffed appropriately. Showed up for my Saturday morning workout at 7AM and nobody was there to open the doors. It is now 7:20 AM and still locked. It would be nice if you would regularly open before 7AM. Please do better.

I wanted to add an update to this review. I went back later the same day to work out. I asked the desk if the hours had changed for Saturday. I was told no. I mentioned that I waited until 7:20AM for the gym opening time of 7:00 AM. One of the gentlemen at the desk argued with me that he was there at 7:15 AM. Instead of apologizing for being late he decided to argue about a couple of minutes. Please teach your employees some customer service.

The majority of the time there is a lack of towels to clean the machines in the morning. Some machines need to be adjusted such as the preacher curl that is next to the front desk (one belt has a lot more slack). The gym floor mats around the benches are either torn up or sticking up(tripping hazard). Overall the gym just needs basic maintenance. I will say that the gym has a friendly staff and a good environment to work out.

Only reason i paid for the top package is because it is the only one with a room for kids. I have a 9 year old. I can't go on the weekends any more because he is so bored in that room, let alone every single thing in there is for 5 and under. My 9 year old can't work out (understandably) but he literally has nothing to do but watch the other kids play or bring a cellphone which can get boring for a kid too. Fitness, massages, etc. Are all fine. BUT I STOPPED COMING BC WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO PUT MY SON ( ik, ik in the daycare room but its for toddlers.) AND IF I CANT HAVE HIM ANYWHERE (not only catered to toddlers) WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY SO MUCH FOR MY CHILD TO DO THE SAME THING HE COULD DO SITTING AT ONE OF THE TABLES IN THE FRONT. This is a great place for non-parents. really crappy for single parents. Please make it worthwhile for all ages of the kids and that might help attract single parents of kids older than 5 to your business to stay. Or even make it apart of the other packages. My son said they only sometimes interact with the other kids and they mostly just watch them. I used to be a daycare assistant teacher and the room was really under stimulating and not really kid friendly over five. The GYM ITSELF is very nice. I can only mostly go on weekends and my son has to come with during that time and now he gets really disappointed when he knows he has to go into that room. So i just don't go. Can we have a cheaper option because the extra money for that lack luster room is not worth it.

Don’t sign up for this club they make it absolutely impossible to cancel your membership until they know they can at least get a double charge. I have called 8 times trying to cancel my membership and they continue to say that i have to come in person, when i don’t live there anymore. Yesterday I called and the guy on the phone said he couldn’t cancel it over the phone. I got a charge for 32.99 today, my membership should only be around 15 per month. I called today and the lady on the phone said she could cancel my membership because I was “adamant” about it. I’ve been adamant every single time cause i want to cancel it. Finally she says that there is a 30 day cancellation notice, so every single other person was wrong that told me they can’t cancel it over the phone, and now I have paid about 8 months of a membership I don’t live near and have tried to cancel multiple times, and am about to pay a 9th for cancelling my membership. A corporation this big literally is just scamming people. Don’t sign up for this gym it’s actually one of the worst i’ve ever seen and it also has bad equipment. Go to four seasons or something

I joined this Crunch late last year. I have worked for Crunch Fitness in the past (in another state) and am very familiar with it, so when I moved back here to Bloomington, I knew that it would be the gym I would choose. Well, let's just say that all Crunch's are not the same, and this one leaves A LOT to be desired.
I initially joined at the top tier (Peak Plus Results) membership specifically because I enjoy the cycling class (The Ride) that is only offered in that membership. However, after a few months, I realized that I wasn't attending the class often at all (the times that it is offered don't really work for my schedule), and didn't feel the need to continue paying for the top tier membership if I wasn't using it for the one thing that I chose that membership for. I went in today to downgrade my membership type to middle tier (Peak) and was told that they now charge a $20 downgrade fee. What??? Charging $20 to try to prevent people from downgrading by essentially punishing them for doing so? That is absolutely ridiculous. A more responsible thing to do would be to work harder as a company to promote the amenities that are offered in the top tier memberships so that people would be less likely to want to downgrade in the first place. But, charging people an additional fee to change their membership to something that better suits them is foolish. Conversely, I'm sure there is no fee charged for people to UPGRADE to a more expensive membership type, is there?! Not good business at all.
Additionally, the atmosphere at this gym is not very inviting. The staff are often/usually less than friendly and do very, very, VERY little to acknowledge members or make them feel welcome. Most every time that I go in, there are at least 2 staff members at the front desk, and no one says a thing when you walk in. They just stare at you in silence as you swipe your barcode and walk away. The same as you walk out... just silent stares. This is not common for a Crunch gym at all! The least they could do is acknowledge someone when they walk in. I've worked at gyms for over 20 years and know for a fact that people who feel welcomed and acknowledged report having a more positive gym-going experience and are more likely to retain their membership. Simple and basic customer service is lacking here.
Also, the gym itself is not the cleanest. I do understand that it is a high traffic facility, but, in my opinion and from my experience, that is not an excuse. The equipment, locker rooms, and especially the showers are not kept in the best condition or maintained well.
All of these reasons are why I canceled my membership today. The $20 downgrade fee, however, was the last straw. I am excited to explore other gym options in Blo-No, because I definitely got a firm wake-up call by this facility that all Crunch fitness gyms are NOT created equal. This one is a disappointment.

Terrible service. Staff are not always friendly but that doesn't really matter, you don't have to talk to them. I have been overcharged countless times and had to contact the business. I signed all the papers to cancel, and I have already paid nearly $80 since January. I drove over an hour just to cancel my membership since I could not do it any other way. Still is not cancelled. I am contacted multiple times a week and sometimes even multiple times a day asking about money when I have already "cancelled" my membership and paid the annual fee. I should not be contacted by this company anymore, and they should not have my financial information anymore since I have CANCELLED my membership. I have sent an email to their "help" staff with no response. I will say again, terrible, terrible service and steals money from people who need it more than they do. I am not sure who I need to get involved for these issues, but it is overwhelming.

The gym itself is fine, just very very busy year long. We have major issues with the management. We were told its $9.99 a month forever… yet two years in a row they bumped our monthly price up to $15.99. No email, no explanation. We had to pay $49.99 each to get it bumped back down and it was such a hassel. They are not honest and upfront and make you feel like you are in the wrong and dont care. Would recommend going somewhere else if you want a upfront and honest gym! Otherwise keep a eye on your bank account!

This business charged my card for membership and upfront fees for my son, then refused to honor his membership and now refuse to refund my card. Now they want me to jump through a bunch of hoops to try to get my money back because they don't have a membership for him. This is fraud. Don't ever get a membership here. NEVER.

I have emailed the person who responded to me and said he didn't understand why they wouldn't allow me to cancel. That alone proves how well he read my comment. He thinks we want to cancel the membership when it is this company that denied my son s membership, and yet still, as recently as yesterday, continue to try to draft money from his cashapp account.

That person has not responded during the 5 days since I emailed him, so apparently he was not sincere in his response here but simply wanted to appear he was willing to resolve his companies fraudulent practices.

Was planning on moving to the area soon so we got a day pass to use and try out different local gyms, was immediately asked if we lived here then was told the day passes are not for us. Went ahead and paid for a day pass so we could see what type of gym this was that would give day passes as a trap to get you to pay for one. Absolutely filthy gym. Missing wipe down supplies. Trash everywhere, found where the mop buckets are dumped if you want to take a shower after you workout dirt grime and hair in the shower floors. Also the photos are of 2 seperate empty wipe down stations. Also before the idea of maybe this was just an isolated area of the gym I got tired of taking photos of the amount of trash and mystery stains.

It’s no wonder this gym sits at 1.5 stars on Yelp. I came in with an open mind, ready to give the place a shot, but left feeling unwelcome and frankly, irritated. Reading other reviews here and elsewhere it’s clearly a pattern. The refusal to grant me a free day pass without presenting a lease felt less like policy and more like an arbitrary barrier designed to turn people away. Even worse, the staff – two young men working that evening – seemed to go out of their way to be unhelpful. They dismissed my questions, walked off mid-conversation, and generally gave the impression that my presence was an inconvenience.

I left unsure of how to sign up and even less inclined to figure it out. The lack of basic courtesy signaled loud and clear that this gym isn’t interested in earning my business—or yours, for that matter—especially if you’re someone like me who isn’t in town full-time. The indifference felt personal, as if they took some quiet satisfaction in denying service, which leads me to believe that management either ignores or condones this behavior.

After reading the other reviews—complaints about predatory cancellation policies and overall poor treatment—I feel lucky I didn’t get roped into a membership. Don’t waste your time or energy here. There are plenty of gyms where your time, questions, and business will be valued. This is not one of them. I was able to try out at Planet Fitness nearby and they were incredibly friendly and helpful.

I followed their directions to send in an email requesting cancelation with some personal information, never received an answer. Went back to Illinois, canceled in person to find out 6 months later that I'm still being charged. I called, and "no records of cancellation" for the month I canceled were found. Honestly the gym is decent for getting the job done. Relatively clean and has a sufficient amount of machines. I urge you to triple check the terms and conditions when signing up, or do not sign up at all. I got a new debit card and was charged multiple late fees for not updating my card in time. This is not to mention, that the website makes it very sneaky that the $10 plan is an annual commitment and the only way to cancel it is to buy out the rest of the year. Please be careful about which plan you purchase.

Front desk kid with curly hair and glasses gives hard time with payments and memberships and was no help and has us drive home bc a friend didn’t have his wallet today when we come every day and have been for past 3 years. Used to love coming to crunch however recently have had multiple issues with the young staff members they choose to leave up front.. I tried to return a pair of keys that I found on the ground to the front desk and the girl screamed at me "you can't be back here"! Lol I clearly wasn't even behind the counter not to mention they don't have a certain barrier that prohibits people from walking directly behind the counter because it's in an open space, I was just trying to return the car keys that someone lost and was yelled at for it.
I give this three stars because the gym has a decent selection of weights however you have to go early in the morning or late at night or you will not be able to work out or have any space to work out in.
Also as I seen somebody post before yes the dress code does need to be addressed feels like some of them are on the borderline of wearing next to nothin a reason why my girlfriend doesn't like being there.

Giving this a three-star because it is the only gym in town with free weights.. however me and my wife are going to cancel tired of seeing equipment not available or highschool kids in their without any sort of supervision just leaving stuff everywhere. My wife also is starting to feel uncomfortable because she is tired of seeing girls half naked workout next to her and posing in every mirror.
I do agree to some extent with my wife with the dress code workout gear is one thing but come on now some of these girls are wearing pretty much next to nothing while they work out.
I'm pretty sure if guys were to start coming in and work out with nothing on beside a speedo and tank top there would be an issue. Again three star rating because of the free weight selection however equipment maintenance/dress code needs to be addressed by management.

My bad that I have not reviewed these review comments earlier, they are money Hungary and don’t let you cancel your membership. Facility is not clean, equipment are old and lot of them are not usable due to pending maintenance. Toilets are not clean. Few years back they were really good, not anymore. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

Four seasons is the cleanest gym and with lot of amenities. I joined four seasons now and happy. Some of my friends moved from Crunch to YMCA as well and they are enjoying 😊

Crunch is where it’s at!
Before I found Crunch, I struggled with finding a gym that I loved since I moved to this area. The atmosphere is fantastic and you don’t ever feel like you’re being judged there.
They have a variety of classes, so there’s something for everyone. My personal favorite are the HIIT classes; especially with Alicia because she brings the energy I need!!! She makes you feel accomplished and exhausted at the end of every class!! 😁
I also do personal training and have to say Khalil is by far the BEST personal trainer that I’ve worked with. He is very dedicated to the success of his clients and offers that motivation and extra push when you feel like you can’t go any further.
Do the class…do the training…go to Crunch for it all. You won’t be disappointed!!

I would NOT leave your kids in the child care part while you work out. I peaked in the window in between working out to see my daughter being bullied by another little girl. She had her by her hair pulling it. There were THREE workers in there. Not ONE got up to stop it or even check to be sure my daughter was ok. Extremely careless staff/college students who don’t actually watch the kids. Aren’t friendly and clearly have no desire to be sure they’re safe and not being bullied. When I brought it to the attention of the other staff they acted as if it wasn’t a big deal.

good gym but when I moved they refused to cancel my account. I moved in may of 2023 and finally got them to cancel my membership in March of 2024. They’re money hungry and have no empathy for people struggling financially.

Pros:
Great gym size, lots of room, decent equipment, mixture between bodybuilding and more of corporate gym. Bathrooms are decently cleaned throughout the day. There is always room to workout, park or do something productive here. Great products for sale in terms of sports drinks, pre workouts or protein shakes. Great workout mixes on the speakers, meant to keep you energized with top hits from most genres
Cons:
Staff, some of them, especially on weekends greet you with a face that look to be disappointed that people even workout at this gym during their shifts! Very clicky staff, they for sure talk about the people who workout here (I’ve heard them point laugh and talk about people)
Parking during some hours, but not too bad. For some reason there is only ONE clock in this gym, I’ve never seen a gym with only one clock and out at the worst possible location.

The napkin boxes are always empty. I think they only load them in the morning and they don’t care replacing the ones that run out. This is so dangerous because you will not be able to wipe down a machine before using it. I sent them a couple of messages about it, but nothing has changed. I am really disappointed at the level of cleanliness there.

Your gym hours are very confusing. When you call it says "open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week", which isn't true. Google maps has you guys opening back up at 12am (Monday morning), but your website says you open at 5am. Getting all of the avenues of information on the same page might prevent confusion.

Signed up didn't really go went to cancel my membership one staff member said it would be canceled never got canceled then they charged me went again they said I had to pay 2 months and annual fee before cancel I paid it and singed the cancel membership paper still has not been canceled I have paid $130 and can't get them to cancel my membership haven't been to the gym in 2 months I just want my membership canceled to stop paying for a gym I don't use

I have been going to Crunch Fitness for 3+ years however I just switched to Planet Fitness. The reason? Cleanliness! While Crunch has everything you need, the place is soo dirty. The machines have a thick layer of dust on them, the floors have large dust bunnies, the men's locker room floor is filthy, the inside of the lockers are nasty and the garbage cans are usually overflowing. Planet Fitness is a lot cleaner. Hopefully Crunch can do something to improve their cleaning regimen.

This place is too busy and too loud for my taste. They should have a different room for people over 60 to get exercises with different music and not as many people. Very similar to Four Seasons in Bloomington. This was not a good experience for me.

This particular crunch gym is always filthy dirty and tanning room floors are never kept clean and I would bet never mopped ever. This gym needs a big time focus on cleanliness because it's always nasty. Workers at the counters could and should be out cleaning the place if more than one at the counter checking people in like their usually is instead of spending all their time on their phones when not busy. Another important factor is that this crunch fitness is slammed by Illinois state university students and will be hard to get a workout because their isn't enough pieces of the important equipment so you have to fight for one machine instead of having at least 3 of the same important machines needed. Also not nearly enough 45lb. plates so your always fighting for weights as well as flat benches because there's only 3 and thousands of members there. Also their fountain sucks and only one and even though there's two built in next to each other only one works with pressure when someone else is drinking from the other.Its clear that even though this gym has many thousands of members that the owners who live out of state don't care about making customers happy and fixing the filthy conditions and to little of equipment and fountain issue. This gym makes a ton of money and could easily fix these small issues if the really cared. I have seen so many people join and quit to never come back joining other gyms in town because of these issues. I'm sure it will never change since it's went at least 3 years like this since opening. Please more duplicates if machines, more 45 lb plates and more than 3 flat benches and more than one incline bech to. And of course keep this place clean daily because it's a health hazard at times.

Love my “fit fam” here! The group fitness coordinator really listens to concerns and is always asking what classes and times could be offered to better suit the group as well as individuals. I tried other gyms but came back to this one because of her and other staff that work hard and consistently show up. Every time I’m there, I see the GM helping members or training a part of her team. Nicely done, Blono Crunch! ❤️

Crunch Normal is the best location I’ve been to. Its staff is way nicer and the gym overall is cleaner than the Champaign, Murfreesboro, Gainesville, and midland location. Crunch Normal has the best staff and trainers I have ever met!
