I was fortunate to meet Tim and Kasey through a longtime friend and couldn't be more grateful as a result. I was a few weeks out from running a marathon and was very injured but Tim took the time to understand my situation and ailments and created workouts to help prepare me to successfully get my body where it needed to be. Along with Tim, Kasey was also incredibly instrumental in my preparation. As a former college athlete, she understands the mind of an athlete and also is incredibly knowledgeable & skilled in her craft as an acupuncturist. She took the time to listen & to comprehend what my pains were and then perfectly executed treatment to alleviate my pains and get me to the start line of the marathon in the healthiest and most pain free manner possible. I am fortunate to include them on my list of care givers and fitness professionals and cannot recommend them enough! Thank you!

Ethos was core to my Chicago marathon this year, providing sports acupuncture to address some problem spots pre-race and recovery the day after.
Working with Kasey for sports acupuncture was great, she helped me better understand how the various areas of my body work together when running, and how we could address the likely source of the issues I was experiencing.

I worked with Dr. Jayah for a few months, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. As a runner, I came in with a stubborn IT band injury that prevented me from moving around for weeks. Then, after addressing the IT band injury, I developed a posterior tibialis injury, and once again, Dr. Jayah guided me through recovery with patience, expertise, and encouragement. When I started PT, I didn’t think I’d make it to the Chicago Marathon this year with my injuries — but not only did I finish, I improved my time by 20-minutes from last year!
Dr. Jayah helped me rebuild my mobility and strength step by step, tailoring each session to my specific needs and running goals. She is knowledgeable, patient, and uses latest research and holistic approaches to help clients like myself reach their goals. I highly recommend working with her! She's the best.

Treatment with Kasey was the only reason I was able to make it to the start line of my recent marathon! The space is amazing, the team is super friendly, and they prioritize the experience of their new athletes just as much as the ones who have been going for a long time. Cannot recommend enough.

I’ve been seeing Kasey for sports acupuncture for some time now, and it’s been key to my training. I honestly couldn’t have made it this year without it or her. Kasey is the best. She so knowledgeable, kind, and easy to talk to. The sessions aren’t painful at all and make a huge difference. I can feel the improvement immediately after each one. I can’t recommend sport acupuncture or Kasey enough!

Ethos is the best! I was fortunate enough to be matched with coach Brookie. She is one of the best people I have ever met. She is so knowledgeable, so talented, and just a great person. She pushes me hard but I still look forward to our workouts. Ethos is a very welcoming place-I say place bc it is much more then just a gym. They really value community. Do yourself a favor and check it out-you won’t be disappointed and your body will thank you.

The treatment center at Ethos is truly unmatched! I see Kasey for sports acupuncture treatment as I prepare to run a marathon and it has greatly impacted my training & recovery. She has such a deep understanding of the body and it's systems, and ensures that I understand the "why" behind the treatment she gives me. I have pain that requires a bit of "I'm not sure what's going on but let's figure it out," and Kasey explains her thought process, what she's going to try, and how we will adjust accordingly based on how my body responds. I feel cared for and trust that I'll cross the finish line healthy because of Kasey!
The space itself is beautiful and The Den allows me to work from home before and after my treatment appointments. Being able to seamlessly weave my treatment into my work + work out schedule is a HUGE plus!

Kasey is the BOMB! I pulled my calf muscle a week before my marathon. She got me to the start line and I was still able to BQ. Now seeing her for a recent knee fracture. Her knowledge and expertise are next level and she’s the reason I can still run - but shes also so darn cool and down to earth. Was really hoping to keep her to myself but she’s too good not to share.
Also, the Ethos space is next level!

I came in with persistent patellar tendinitis in my knee, I had been in physical therapy for months with limited results. Kasey was able to use acupuncture, electrical stimulation, heat therapy and some cupping to help drive blood flow to the impacted tendon and get stubborn muscle groups to 'rewire' themselves so as not to be consistently pulling on the pattela. After months of stubborn pain I am back to running and playing again, I cannot recommend her services highly enough for anyone else dealing with stubborn tendon pain. She is courteous, professional and the Ethos facilities are excellent, clean and conveniently located within central Lakeview. 10/10, if you're on the fence get on the right side and get your chronic pain in line.

I have been going to Ethos for private training and acupuncture, and am SO happy I found this place. The staff and facilities are both top notch.
I have been doing private training with Brookie, who is amazing to work with and I am already seeing great results and getting stronger very quickly.
I am also so grateful that Kasey has been able to quickly reduce and get rid of my back pain and help my mobility to keep moving. Acupuncture is not something I would have considered, but Kasey really made me feel comfortable and really knows her stuff.

After a tough start to the year on the health front, a friend recommended that I try acupuncture with Kasey and I am so glad I did! I had never done acupuncture before and didn’t know what to expect. I’m so glad I tried it! Kasey is the best. The whole experience is so relaxing and healing. Not only is Kasey super knowledgeable about all things acupuncture, but she’s just a nice, positive, and caring human being. I recently started seeing Kasey for a knee bone bruise and torn meniscus. I can't say enough about her and how she attends to her clients. She listens and really asks great questions about the condition and about how I was feeling from week to week. She is extremely precise about where she will focus on the acupuncture and what is necessary for that week. When she sees improvement she adjusts the visits accordingly. She is all about healing and helping me gain strength and health in my knee. I feel extremely fortunate to have found someone that is so passionate about what they do in the practice of healing . Thank you Kasey!!!!
I also love Ethos in general. Tim, one of the Co-owners, is just a really great person and loves what he does. He has created an amazing environment for their clientele and it shows. I love walking in the door every time I go because it makes me feel very comfortable. This is an amazing addition to the Roscoe Village community

I’ve always been curious about acupuncture and was referred to Kasey McKenney at Ethos—what a fantastic experience! From the start, Kasey was incredibly approachable, compassionate, and easy to talk to. She has a natural ability to create a calming presence, which was exactly what I needed as I sought relief from stress and muscle tension.
The environment at Ethos is equally soothing. From the moment you walk in, the space feels peaceful, and the treatment rooms are comfortable and thoughtfully designed. Kasey created an individualized treatment plan for me and truly is a master of her craft. She continuously adjusted my herbal remedies and offered helpful suggestions based on how I was feeling and responding to treatment.
One thing I especially appreciated was her honesty throughout the process. We started with weekly sessions, then transitioned to biweekly, then monthly—until she told me I had "graduated" and could choose whether to continue for maintenance or take a break. That kind of integrity is rare and speaks volumes about her confidence and genuine care for her patients.
It’s been a few months since my last session, and I can honestly say I’m still feeling great!
In addition to Kasey’s amazing care, I want to shout out the Ethos training studio itself. I used to take their classes at their former River North location and have recently taken some in Lincoln Park. As a fitness professional, I can say their programming is top-notch—intelligent, well-structured, and delivered by warm, knowledgeable instructors. Tim and the team have done an incredible job cultivating a welcoming, community-focused space. And the location right off the Brown Line is a huge plus!
Thank you, Kasey, Tim, and the entire Ethos team for taking such great care of me!

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Kasey McKinney, acupuncturist. She took the time to truly understand a complex condition that hadn’t responded to any other treatments. Her approach was incredibly thorough, thoughtful, and individualized—something I hadn’t experienced with other providers, who had been dismissive or quick to give up. Kasey was not only knowledgeable and skilled, but also deeply caring and empathetic. It made a world of difference to feel genuinely heard and supported. I would recommend her to anyone, especially those who have felt let down by the healthcare system. She's a rare and valuable find.

I’ve had the great fortune of knowing Kasey for quite some time and as an acupuncturist, I can confidently say that she is one of the most thoughtful, conscientious, professional and intuitive healers I know. She is a master of her craft and you can feel the intention and love she pours into her work as well as her desire to keep learning and growing, personally and professionally. She truly aims to live by and practice what she shares with you while on the table. She takes a holistic and transpersonal approach to her work, helping you recover/heal in body, mind and spirit. If you’re looking for an acupuncturist in the city, look no further.
Now working with Dr. Dwight as well, I’m quickly realizing all of the same qualities apply to his care and approach as a Chiropractor. Quite the treatment team they have and are building at Ethos!
And finally, these sentiments hold up for the entire training team and reception staff as well. When first coming here a few years ago, I could sense it was a special place upon walking through the doors and taking a few of their classes. You can sense their energy, warmth and connection pretty quickly. It’s a place where we can let our real selves be seen, in whatever way(s) we may want or need on any given day. Creating such an inviting space for that to happen naturally takes a special type of person and group of people.
The whole Ethos team can feel great about the work they’re doing and how each of them contributes to such a unique and positive experience for so many of us. THANK YOU!

My private training experience (lack thereof) was TERRIBLE . I had booked an intro session with a private trainer, the owner. He then cancelled on me because he said that he doesn't do those sessions and it was a technical error. So for two months I had emailed the gym and owner, and the only reply I got was that they were going to find someone to take care of it. I eventually saw in my spam that an email from a coach went there (my fault for not checking spam).
Either way, I had been patiently and kindly emailing (owner even thanked me for how kind I was) for two months. I finally called about it and Nicole at front desk then explained after failing to provide me a service, that "We can't guarantee a service every time you purchase it."
When I mentioned to the owner I wanted to continue private training, he called me INCESSANT and DISRUPTIVE. I was incessant and disruptive because I paid for a service that I never received after two months?
My Class Experience:
I participated in one single class. When entering the building, no one greeted me for the first 5 minutes. I didn't know what or where to go, even after walking around and looking like a lost dog for some time- One classmate finally helped me and told me where to go. Once the class started- the coach did a terrible job at telling anyone where to get equipment. The coach also didn't introduce herself nor ask me my name once the entire time I was there. For a gym that claims to be a "community," that didn't make sense.
I've been to this facility a few amount of times. Fantastic and stunning facility. Their sauna/ice bath program is incredible. Very nice owner with a friendly smile. Other than that I have not had a good experience.

Kasey is terrific! I am a regular and long-time endurance athlete. Over time (as any endurance athlete will tell you) there are invariably muscle asymmetries that emerge. Even with regular strength and flexibility work this can occur. I have not used acupuncture before but in combination with the strength and mobility work it can be quite helpful. Breaking up muscle patterns that are counterproductive and that are resulting in excessive tightness is the goal.
Kasey is a consummate professional--expert, clear communication, good listener, committed to your goals. None better!
BTW, I am not a member of this gym but it is a very cool place. If I lived closer I would definitely check this place out--large, lots of equipment, clean, very friendly staff. Pretty slick layout and offerings.

This review is for sports acupuncture with Kasey, she is simply the best ! I’ve had issues with my neck locking up on and off the whole year after having a baby and since I’ve started working with her I’ve been able to keep them at bay. I tried to see chiropractors and physical therapists for this and had no success results. A neck lock up that lasted almost 2 weeks cleared up in 2 days after seeing her. Ethos is truly the most amazing hub for wellness in the city of Chicago. As someone who started at Ethos being relatively new to strength training, any nerves I had before my first class were quickly met by the most caring team whose intentional programming and thoughtful coaching makes everyone feels safe, supported, and encouraged on and off of the training turf. Nearly 2 years after my first class, Ethos maintains its role as a fundamental part of my routine. Between strength training, experiencing the true benefits of recovery and treatment, and co-working from the Den, Ethos offers an inviting, holistic third space for all. The entire Ethos team cares so deeply for every person who walks through the door, no matter your background and experience, and I cannot recommend their offerings enough.

I would follow Kasey McKenney to the dark side of an alternate universe. That’s all you need to know.
Jokes aside - I’m a healthcare practitioner and an empath so am particularly sensitive to (read: annoyed and turned off by) practitioners who want to fit their patients into a category, a type, or group. Kasey couldn’t be further from the opposite. Kasey uses her time with her patients so intentionally and listens with such depth, wrapping herself in their story and walking alongside them to figure it out, from the inside out. Kasey practices with holistic intention like no one I’ve ever met; she honors the sacred nature of TCM through her puzzle-piecing mind and her inherently divine gifts for putting people back together, arguably better than they had ever been. Kasey healed pain I experienced for years and years because she took the time to connect the dots, guide me through each phase, and not once ever made me feel like I was dramatic or exaggerating. Chicago and Ethos are stupid lucky to have Kasey’s skill set, mind, heart, and energy on their team.

The workouts are tough but you can clearly see your progress throughout the weeks. The trainers are very knowledgeable and very good about correcting your form to make sure you are getting the most out of each movement!
All I can say is I wish I lived in Chicago so I could keep going to this gym. If you are on the fence about joining definitely give it a go! Such an amazing experience!

Ethos made me love going to the gym again! I've tried just about every boutique fitness class in the city and Ethos has hands down the best and most professional trainers I've worked with. The team is not only supportive and encouraging but make you feel comfortable and have created the absolute best community of people. I'm so grateful to have found a place that makes me love showing up every week!!

Victoria and Tim are the best of the best! They are extremely knowledgeable about movement and workouts that keep you very safe and also strong. This is something that is lacking in the fitness industry, but Tim and Victoria care about your body for the longterm so that you can live a pain free life AND reach your fitness goals.
Victoria helped me through my first pregnancy. She took the time to meet with me and lay out modifications so that I felt extremely comfortable while working out. She also made a little modification board for me! Victoria's specialty is making you feel like the most important person in the room, always.
Moving on to Tim! Tim has been an absolute godsend to me because he prevented me from getting a surgery that would have caused more harm than good. I had an injury from running before pregnancy that never went away. I sent Tim my MRI and he was excited to jump in and help. We worked together 1:1 once per week and he taught me how to put in the work to heal. TIm also helped me so much with my mindset and when things got hard he always reminded me that I would get through it. I started with him in August 2020 and can now safe that I am pain free and back to doing workouts that I love and enjoy.

I have been doing personal training with Tim at Ethos for the past 5 months. I have seen a HUGE increase in my strength and mobility as well as my body awareness. Tim and the team at Ethos are not just trainers, they are teachers. Purely moving/pushing your body around will only get you so far. Tim and the team at Ethos provide SO much more than a typical gym. They teach you how to move, they provide hands on effective corrections, endless encouragement, stress management solutions, and nutrition knowledge. Do yourself a favor, switch or join a gym like this one! When you work with local/small business owners, like Tim and Victoria, who are uncompromisingly passionate about helping people change their bodies through movement and nutrition, suddenly things shift, goals are met, and your life is never the same. 5 STARS!

After burning out from HIIT training at other gyms in the city, I came to Ethos to find a more sustainable workout regimen. What I found was much more than that - knowledgeable trainers committed to helping you succeed, a community of people that are there to support while also make the classes fun and no more fear in picking up the heavy weights! I can't say enough good things about Ethos!

Ethos is the best gym in the city. With knowledgeable owners and instructors they know how to work all systems of your body for maximum results. When my gym had shut down I felt lost but then I found Ethos and I couldn't have been happier. It's not just a community either it's a family. I recommend this to all of my fitness friends and to anyone who is looking to start their journey. They never make you feel that you don't belong. I know starting a new gym can be scary and intimidating but the love these people have for everyone is amazing you will be so happy you joined!

Most gyms attempt to separate themselves from competitors through quantity (# of machines, classes offered, square footage, etc.) There's nothing inherently wrong with that approach, but it doesn't lead to much excitement or motivation from a member's perspective.
Ethos, on the other hand, separates itself through its coaches and the amount of knowledge that they bring to every class. They won't crush your quads two days in a row or forget that your abs are sore from Wednesday when they put together Thursday's exercises. That precision is not a function of being comparatively smaller than most of its competitors. Rather, it's a credit to the amount of passion that the coaches put into their work. I can't speak highly enough of the Ethos community as a whole.
If you're on the fence, give it a shot. The experience will speak for itself.

I started going to Ethos for their kinstretch classes. . Tim's classes literally changed my life and did what 6 weeks of physical therapy could NOT do! I consistently went 3 times a week and I gained mobility in my hips. While at kinstretch I would notice the other classes but wasn't sure about them because I am a bit older than many of their clientele. I mentioned it to Tim and he recommended where to start. The other instructors were so encouraging and were great about finding modifications for me. I felt comfortable even though most of the time I was the oldest person in the room. People were so welcoming. I have worked out at many gyms in the Chicagoland area and this is by far the best gym. Their instructors are so knowledgeable, the gym is clean and I felt so comfortable!

When Tim and Victoria announced they were opening up a studio, I was beyond excited. So much so, that I was one of the early “pre-sale” memberships, before they even opened! I just knew it was going to be something special and it has MORE than delivered.
These are two of the hardest working, most down to earth coaches you will ever meet, and they truly care about YOU and your fitness journey. Before Ethos, I experienced nagging pain issues with my calves and hips from being a member of another HIIT gym.
Since joining Ethos, I can confidently say these issues have subsided. Why? They make a point to focus on form, function, and mobility to keep YOU safe. Add in Kinstretch, and it is the perfect mix to help you achieve your goals. For me it’s been strength and conditioning. The programming is meticulously planned and well thought out. The results I’ve experienced from coming over the years is amazing.
Tim and Victoria have also created the most welcoming and kind community. Regardless of where you are at in your fitness journey, everyone is there to cheer you on and lift you up. I’ve made some great friendships here! They truly have created a special place that I would highly recommend to anyone to try out. Their motto says it all, “Don’t be scared to fail. Be Kind. Grind.”

I've been in Chicago for over 5 years now and in that timeframe I think have tried out almost every formatting of group fitness / gyms around and wished Ethos existed earlier because nothing else really compares! Since going to Ethos I’ve noticed results in terms of strength, mobility, and just overall knowledge in working out smarter - you can tell they care that their members understand the WHY behind the programming to help us sustain these routines for life - very rare and hard to find in any other gym settings around.
At the very core the trainers here care about your overall well-being + ability to move efficiently and that translates to not only the workouts in the gym, but working to maintain healthier joints / prevent imbalances + injuries that keeps us well in our everyday lives.
And honestly, it’s the MOST FUN - I wake up every morning looking forward to working out and always trust I’m being supported towards whatever goal I’m working on. Being a healthcare professional myself I can confidently say that the best health habits you build are the ones that you can sustain for life and having a strong community that supports you can certainly help you towards your goals, whatever that might look like. The coaching staff goes above and beyond to get to know your concerns / goals / injuries individually and optimize the workout specifically for you - which truly is a game changer for me and I’m so grateful that Ethos exists!

If you’re looking for a gym where the coaches are knowledgeable, passionate and welcoming and the members are friendly, hard working and always willing to help each other, you’ve come to the right place! Prior to joining Ethos, I went to another boutique gym in Chicago for several years and never got to know the coaches or my fellow members. That gym just didn’t encourage the same sense of community that you’ll find at Ethos and it makes all the difference in the world. Since joining Ethos almost two years ago, many of the same people I used to work out next to without knowing their names have become close friends. Aside from the social aspect, Ethos has taught me that I can lift heavy, and to do it with proper form, and that combination allowed me to get in the best physical condition of my life. Community, results and fun. What else do you need?

I can't say enough good things about this community (it's way more than a gym). Finding a strength training program that fit my individual needs, along with my need for camaraderie was really my biggest challenge with other gyms. Ethos combines all of those in a personalized way with a community aspect that I love. They hold me accountable for being in class when I can, and push me to work outside my limits when I'm willing to. I trust their programming more than any other program I've been on and am thrilled they've re-opened. If you're on the fence about trying out Ethos, go. I promise you'll leave with a full heart, sore muscles, and wanting to come back to this outstanding community. Highly recommend! They're also doing temperature checks, travel questionnaires and social distancing in their newly re-designed classes, which adds an extra layer of confidence in this new world we're in.

As someone who did the typical "bro routine" at the gym for years I was initially skeptical about group fitness. I had always thought that it just wasn't for me. However, I decided to give it a shot when I heard about this new gym with a focus on sustainability and mobility since I had been dealing with constant nagging injuries (back/knees/ankles/shoulders) for years.
I'm glad I did because to say it's been life changing is an understatement.
Firstly, all of my nagging injuries have cleared up meaning I can confidently engage in any activity I want totally pain-free. Secondly, the smart programming at Ethos has helped me achieve the highest levels of strength and conditioning fitness I've ever had, and that's even including when I was training for the Naval Special Warfare officer pipeline in college. Lastly, I've found a close-knit, warm, and fun community at Ethos, in both the coaching staff and the other members, which I definitely wasn't expecting and is very rare to find at a gym or anywhere for that matter.
I'd highly recommend Ethos to anyone who values living a healthy and balanced life.

If you're looking for a gym that gives you a little bit of everything - HITT, Strength, Cardio, Stretching - Ethos is for you! Their approach to fitness isn't just focused on lifting weights or time on a cardio machine - it's the most intentional and focused programming I've ever experienced. Each class starts with an explanation of what you're doing AND why you're doing it.
The trainers are the most attentive, knowledgeable coaches I have ever worked with! Since there are not 40 - 60 people (or in a dark room, mind you) in a class, they actually focus on you and your form. Safety and correct form is sadly not something you find at every gym but at Ethos I am NEVER worried about it and can actually ASK if I am doing something right!
Tim and Victoria have created such a unique experience and I highly recommend the gym and workout to anyone looking to change up their fitness routine or even find a place that is not intimidating. No matter your skill level or gym experience, Ethos is for you!

When I first moved to Chicago I never thought finding a gym could be so hard. I had 3 different memberships in the first 6 months. I didn't feel the motivation or desire to keep going to any of those.
My fist day at Ethos was incredible.
You feel welcomed every time you walk in. They acknowledge your presence. They want to know how YOU are feeling.
The workout has a vert smart and meticulous programing. You dont go there and feel gassed out all the time. You work your way up to lift heavy, get better at a cardio machine, ELIMINATE any injuries. You feel that you are working out smart and with a lot of knowledge behind it.
Ethos for me is the BEST KIND of therapy. I leave the building feeling energized, positive, stronger but most important appreciated by amazing coaches.
I had suffer from back pain for the past 2.5 years, I got millions of X-rays which showed I had a "mini fracture" and " minor scoliosis". I was always sore (but the bad sore. The sore that hurts). The programing and care that the coaches at Ethos have for me, made that pain go away. From time to time the discomfort comes (depending on the exercise we are doing) but the modification comes along and most important they tell me exactly what movement or part of the body I have to work on to get that strength.
I absolutely LOVE this gym.

When you step into Ethos for the first time you immediately become apart of a community. The trainers are the most attentive, knowledgeable coaches I have ever worked with at a studio - they remember your name, what injuries you might have and focus on your form to ensure you get the most out of the workout. The programming is very smart and they are constantly searching for ways to always get better.
Kinstretch has been a major game changer for me and the fact that Ethos has numerous classes each week is amazing. They focus on ensuring that our bodies can sustain the workouts and move the way the body was intended to.
Tim and Victoria have created such a special community in Chicago. Outside of killer workouts, the people at this gym and the kindest, most welcoming group and you will immediately feel welcomed regardless of your fitness level. I cannot say enough positive things about Ethos - highly recommend!

From the moment you walk into your first class at Ethos it is a different experience than any other gym I've gone to in the city. The coaches make a point to know you by your name and use your name during class to give you real time feedback and form corrections regularly. The coaches truly care about each individual and will work with you to achieve your personal goals. As a woman I felt more motivated to push myself and pick up the heavier weights at Ethos than I have in any other environment.
Not only does Ethos have some of the best workout programming in the city, but they've built an impressive community in the short time they've been open. The environment is welcoming and built around celebrating victories. The motto ""Don't Be Scared to Fail. Be Kind. Grind." isn't just something that hangs on the wall.

I switched from the gym to workout classes because I was finding that, on my own, the routine was consistently failing to motivate me. I found that group workout classes really helped as the enthusiasm and variety reminded me of sport practices I grew up with and loved. After awhile though, I realized an important piece was missing from most classes - individual support. I was motivated but struggled to ensure I was improving how I wanted. Again, I started looking to change the routine which resulted in me finding Ethos.
I have been going for well over a year and have not had a single class where I did not experience both a great group atmosphere + individual attention. The workouts are excellent, consistently being tweaked to keep it fresh. The coaches take the time to get to know you and your goals, consistently providing real-time feedback during class and staying after to help however they can. Great example of this: I sustained a partial tear in my shoulder - Tim and Ryan tweaked workouts to help me build back up strength and spent time before/after class to help with stretching and supplemental workouts.
Ethos team goes above and beyond everyday for their members and while I do not always look forward to waking up for 7am class, the experience they deliver results in me feeling grateful and accomplished every time I leave. Highly recommend for any and all looking for a better workout routine.

Ethos is the most thoughtful gym I have ever been a part of. I was a boutique gym/group fitness junkie, but never considered how quality, planned programming can revolutionize individual performance. I had limited range of motion in most of my body and found their Kinstretch classes to be the solution to regaining lost mobility in my joints. This is after YEARS of working through pain. Thanks to them, I can do a pull up, lift heavy and do a real squat (among other things) pain free. The trainers seek to create lifelong athletes, care for your body as their own, and invest in each person who walks through their door. They are GREAT people and it shows!

I truly didn't think I would be able to transition away from Bootcamp classes such as Barry's and Studio 3 Interval (I've done OTF but personally think there's too much transition time), but this gym changed my mind.
The workouts are dependent on the day of the week, and given your heart rate is kept up through rows/skis/bikes/full body lifts, the workouts have been much more sustainable for me considering I've fractured both ankles, a shin, and had a number of other injuries (shoulders, knees and hips). The trainers have done an incredible job of asking how you feel, modifying lifts when necessary, and correcting improper form. I've found Tuesdays and Saturdays best as they're more cardio focused, and I prefer to have my heart rate elevated throughout class.
I came in on day one and noticed most people already knew each other from Sweat. However, given the volume of team days and how tight knit the environment has become, I've been able to make friends with many others members. That was well beyond an experience I ever had at Barry’s or Studio 3.

Best gym in the Country! Not only a scientific, holistic approach to fitness, but truly a community environment. Owners Tim and Victoria have and continue to put so much thought and intention into the strength/conditioning programming but also into the physical space. You walk in and see friendly faces you may know and walk out knowing a few more. A week here and I've already felt changes in my physical capacity. The inclusion of mobility training is completely unique to anything in Chicago (and probably the Country) and is something everyone needs. Clean and very nice equipment, but no unnecessary extras like many group fitness studios. Group fitness with an individual focus. Love this place like a second home!

In a city full of boutique gyms that claim to offer multiple styles of fitness (strength, agility, HIIT, cardio, mobility, etc.), Ethos Training Systems actually delivers. You want to lean out and increase cardiovascular endurance? Done. You want to get stronger and see muscular gains? Check. You want to increase your mobility and leverage functional training that benefits everyday life? Perfect. Want all three and then some? Even better. Ethos is a rare find in that you can train there every day without OVER training or risking injury. How? Because they actually apply science to their programming, spending hours upon hours creating workouts that are group-friendly but allow people to reach their personal goals while enjoying the benefits of a community.
What really stands out to me is the educational aspect of Ethos - every movement (warm up included!) has a purpose, a reason. Each cue is relevant and not just lip service; they explain up front why each move is executed as such, instead of simply correcting your form during class. Victoria, Tim, John and Julia are not only top-notch trainers that educate you on the WHY behind each movement and overall workout, but they ensure every class is fun, challenging, and positive.
If you're seeking a community that will build you up, no matter what your current fitness level and goals are, this is the place. Group fitness should be inspiring and enjoyable, not intimidating. I highly recommend you check Ethos out - it's undoubtedly raised the bar for Chicago fitness.

I’m so happy to have found Ethos Training Systems! Victoria and Tim have created a gym that is inclusive of all body types and strength levels. CrossFit is too intimidating and doesn’t help beginners , like myself, understand the 'why' behind the movement and enjoy working out. On the opposite end, boutique gyms are not only costly, but they cater to one particular workout that doesn’t necessarily meet the fitness needs or desired results for all people.
Ethos identifies those gaps and that’s what makes it so special! For the first time in a long time, I am not afraid to fail, just like their sign states when you walk in. This is because I know I have supportive, knowledgeable and passionate trainers guiding me along my fitness journey.
