The gym is going down hill rapidly. The TVs upstairs have not been working correctly for over two weeks. The excuse given to me was they are working with DirectTV to fix it but why is it taking so long. There is no hot water in the women's showers. We got hot water a couple of weeks ago but now it is gone again. All while the men's showers have plenty of hot water all the time. Many of the benches are cracked. A lot of the equipment is not working. I'm not sure why we pay for an equipment fee each year when no equipment gets replaced or repaired.

I have been very disappointed with the recent encounters I have had at Gold's Gym. My husband goes almost daily and I go occasionally with him. Lately, everything seems broken and nothing has been fixed. The list of repairs on the board is ever growing and never satisfied. And who thought it would be a good idea to fill the pool in for a banquet hall?!? The price is great, but at this rate, there are more working machines in a hotel gym. To top everything else off, the clerks at check-in have no presence of authority or managerial experience and there is little to no consistency with them even welcoming you. You might as well have an automatic check in. Maybe the machine would talk to you more...

Ive been going to golds for about 7 years. I'm not a weekend worrior I go everyday. If a big commercial gym is something your looking for then golds is the best in town. I dont know much about the trainers ive never used them but they are friendly. The equipment is as good as you are going to find. There are many people complaining about this facility being dirty. It is not dirty for 1. If you are looking for a pretty and steralized health club go find a curves because you obviously don't care about fitness or getting strong. They have childcare everyday which is great but check hours because they are goofy hours. All in all great gym.

What's next first take away towels, then the soap and shampoo from showers, hot tub down for months telling everyone to be patient then closed pool altogether. No hot water the other day think that has been fixed. Basketball court closed till April now. Have not heard anything about rates dropping since they no longer have the burden of the pool around their neck. Still hanging in there but about done use to be too notch place. Now they are worried about having enough room to play badminton

Worst lightning in Basket ball and Badminton courts. Informed staff to take care of the lights 6 months ago and then on each and every day we are following up. No action taken from anyone(Staff or Management). They just charge you every month but don't provide any facilities.

I have been with the gym for more than 2 years. The indoor courts for badminton and basketball are not having proper lighting. We have been requesting to replace dead lights with some new ones for the past 10momths and no action has been taken. We have tried talking to the management and they never ever responded.we have tried all possible options to connect to the management and meet them in person to explain the problem and guess what.. none of us could meet him in person. One of the worst management I have ever seen.

Poor Lighting at Basketball & Badminton Court. Since 6 months on daily basis we are making complaints in the reception desk and several times spoken to the maintenance teams as well, but there is no response and action from the management has been taken so far.Really disappointed with the Service they are providing to the long time members .

Poor lighting, especially in the BASKETBALL/BADMINTON courts. In spite of informing numerous times to the help desk people, no action has been taken by the management yet. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS GYM!!! Dark, dank, and stinky. The equipment was actually STICKY! From what I do not know. I actually had to beat on the weights to get them apart. My wife and I had a hard time finding the machines we needed and once we did find them, there was always someone "hanging around it" so we had to wait for what ever reason. Our workout as cut very short because of all of these reasons. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS GYM!!!! This place was so bad I felt crowded and once I got home I felt like I needed to shower with bleachit was the most gross and disgusting place ever. I would rather workout in the aorta potty at the end of a 3 week carnival show!!!! Well not really but both are about as bad.

Equipment is good but the staff are rude and the teachers dont know how to teach properly or treat people with good customer service, unless you count belittling a good quality!! Seems like the teachers don't want to be there because it's wasting there time! I do suggest to get better teachers and trainers to teach your incoming trainers. Most people don't respond well to rudeness and belittling! I do suggest for you to hire a better training company that will take the time and effort to teach the trainers properly! I give the trainers 0 stars and the Facility 2 and 1/2 stars!

I was a "charter member" back in 1997. For signing up before ground was broke on the gym, I received a good deal on the monthly rate. Several years later I was told that I needed to "renew" and the rate was much higher. I didn't stick around much longer. I learned later that many people got to keep their charter member rate, which I was told was not a possibility.

Otherwise, if you just want a decent gym to work out at, this isn't a bad place. The only problem for this gym is that is now there are quite a few alternatives that are much nicer. This gym is outdated by comparison. It would seem that they would have been better off to find ways to keep members and gain new ones, not just raise the rates.

The members at Gold's (Currency Drive) gym are great people! I have stuck around this gym for 5 years mainly because of all the great members there and I hate to leave now. To be completely honest and forthcoming I have gotten along with 99% of the staff there too but there is always one bad apple that receives complaint after complaint and his issues are swept under the rug due to the fraternity type relationship that exists between management and employees. The main issue I have with this Gold's gym is this type of reporting relationship leads to toleration of destructive behaviors. There is no acountability for trainers saying and doing what they want in regards to members. Therefore, when you have a bad apple trainer that has gone rogue in this situation everything is out of control. The regional manger (Suzanne) shared that it would take a lot of paperwork-dates and examples to get this individual fired for a second time. Even though it would be very easy for her to speak with the names of the employees and members that were witnesses to this harassment/defamation of character and slander. I thought members were the most important part of your business apparently not. This Gold's employee (JG) does not follow any kind of a code of ethics as gossiping about members appears to be encouraged to creat more excitement at work. This trainer has been fired from this Gold's previously for putting charges on another member's account and then rehired back for some unknown reason. I guess risk management is completely overlooked at this gym. In addition, this gentleman had a restraining/stalking order put on him by the member but after the member left the gym he was given his job back. This very same trainer has a misdemeanor involving an incident where he slashed another's tires because an ex brought a new boyfriend to the gym. In addition, this trainer has been accused on multiple occasions of being a little too hands on with the clients if you know what I mean! Do you really want to train with such a mentally unstable individual? Do yourself a favor and before agreeing to use a trainer at this Gold's do a background check on the name of the trainer that you have been assigned. I'm not sharing the name for anonymity purposes but I would suggest that if you are trainining there go ahead and run a background check on Mclean County Public Access Search System prior to completing one more training session especially if you are a woman that cares about your safety! Please make sure the first name and last name are spelled correctly!

Very poorly managed facility and 90% of the staff are IDIOTS. I do not recommend this facility. Even after you are done with the contract, they find ways to steal your pockets and that is the only thing they are good at.

And on top of everything, they charge you with an annual club enhancement fee which is ridiculous.

Gold's gym is great. They recently updated their pool, and they added a third evening water aerobics class. I am very pleased. I joined Gold's because of Vicki's water aerobics class, and I am going to stay a member as long as she has a class a few nights a week. I highly recommend you come to her class, it's a lot of fun. For all body types. I am a plus size woman, and I bring my husband and we both get a great work out! She's also a lot of fun.

I am surprised to see so many negative reviews here. I have been a member of this Golds two times, for about 5 years each time. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and the group classes are particularly strong. There have been issues with maintenance of some of the equipment over the years, but with the new renovation things are much better. When my daughter was little I used the child care nearly every day and she loved it there. Haven't used it for a long time, though.

I appreciate seeing that folks of all ages and all abilities feel welcome at this gym.

I have heard of some problems with membership staff, but I didn't have any trouble either time I joined or when I had to suspend my membership when I relocated for a few years.

Never do anything with their machines. Machines stay broken for weeks. Pool and locker rooms are disgustingly dirty. Have a mystery $50 fee in the middle of the year that they MIGHT tell you about. Have terrible cancellation policies. I lost over $100 by moving away.
