About the Club

Han Training is Chicago's queer-, trans-, and BIPOC-affirming strength sanctuary. We specialize in mobility, functional strength, and liberation-focused powerlifting through trauma-informed, body-neutral coaching in safe, supportive ultra-small groups.

Founded by Head Trainer Minky based on their lived experience as a QTPOC immigrant, we dismantle systemic oppression one lift at a time in our member-only, disability-accessible gym. We proudly provide community-funded scholarships and warmly welcome allies to reclaim joyous strength together.

Open House: 2nd Sundays, 12–3 pm; learn more on our website.

Recognized by CBS, WBEZ, Block Club Chicago & TimeOut.

Movement is our birthright. Come home to your body.

Such a welcoming and positive place. Every time I visit for classes I know I am in the right space. Han is a pillar of the community.

I've been exercising and attending classes at Han Training for a solid year now and I can't rave enough about how happy I am to have found this gym. So much thought goes into making it a welcoming and inclusive space for queer, trans and disabled folks. I have a chronic issue with my ankle (my posterior tibial tendon, if you wanna get technical) and I realized that this first year at Han is also my first year in a long time with no ankle flare-up! If you need help getting to (or back to) the gym and could benefit from working with some really thoughtful, encouraging trainers, Han is a great place to go.

I joined because I wanted a community, not just a gym and they have all been great! Safe, inclusive and welcoming. Both Minky and Parker are wonderful trainers who are both knowledgeable and fun!

I went to an awesome vocal training event here! If I'm ever in need of a gym to go to, this will be the first place I'll consider. They're very welcoming here, and the space is cozy and well-equipped with workout gear.

I can’t stress enough how Han Training offers something you can’t find anywhere else in the city: an inclusive, warm, welcoming, judgment-free, *fun* gym with incredibly knowledgeable and friendly expert trainers. Minky, Parker, and everyone who works at Han are just gems and if you have any hesitations at all about joining a gym, this is the place for you. A queer space like no other. β™₯️

Minky, Parker, Kam, & the broader Han Training community are awesome! They really take the time to get to know every person and their goals and help them work to achieve them. The space is cozy, welcoming, and always friendly, and the small class size (max: 3) means you're basically getting a personal training session each time you sign up. There's a wide range of classes, including full body, upper/lower, arms, booty, self-defense, mobility, and HIIT. You can always just sign up for open gym and do your own thing, too, if you're more disciplined than I am.

The gym hosts regular non-training community events for people to come together, like clothing exchanges, skill-shares, and advocacy events. Not to mention the music is always bumping and the merch is very cool! Even if you've never felt at home in a typical gym or have been a long time away from dedicated exercise (both me), Han is a great fit.

Love it here. I have an open gym membership and occasionally update customized programming with the warrior mode. It's such a positive, genuine place where everyone's goals and limits are respected, and it's just fun to be there at whatever ability level.

I've been with Minky as a Trainer for 3 years now and I feel like for the first time in my life a sense of peace and comfort and stability when it comes to fitness! Han Training is an amazing place to train as a queer/trans person: no diet talk, no negative self talk, just inclusive accessible classes and spaces to help you feel good and strong in your body. can't rec enough!

I'm usually quite intimidated by gyms... which is why I never go. Han Training is exceptional! Minky is wonderful; they were super welcoming and made me feel comfortable-- tailoring moves to my ability. Recommend!
