Absolutely horrible courts. I witnessed multiple people slip and injure themselves. It’s been 12 months I’ve been playing here and I never ever see anyone clean or even dust the courts. Super dusty and slippery courts make games unplayable. I was thinking of renting these courts for an even earlier but I’m afraid half my companions will tear their ACLs and break their ankles. If you guys don’t want to clean your courts, please leave the cleaning equipment out, I will clean them so none of us sustain any career ending injuries.

I enjoy the fitrec center. I do miss when the inside had a smoothie place. Not sure why we would replace it with a donut stand ngl. I think the smoothies were much better. I do like the white sheep but in a gym... really. Whatever. The gym equipment is nice for the most part. I wish they had another chest fly machine and a few more lat pull down machines but its all good. The leg machines are lacking a little as well.

I love this place,considering it’s a college gym,it’s still great. Only issue I have is that they have to fix/renew showers,lockers constantly with bad locks or not working at all. Showers hangers missing for months,shower heads loose,low pressure etc which is not hard or expensive to fix.Also either they need stricter staff or some fines that will keep eye on all the people that are leaving towels,empty bottles everywhere,not college fault,but someone needs to put stop to it.

I’m leaving this review for Kandacye Monday evening around 5 p.m. (Just in case I mispelled her name) that was helping at the check in station at Moraine Valley recreation. Not for Moraine Valley Rec. the other staff members are wonderful, friendly, understanding, and more flexible. My expired credit card is on my account. So my payment is 1 day late. So she decides to higher her voice in a really loud tone giving me a lecture how my payment didn’t go through and I can not come in. And I have to wait for tomorrow. Their membership service is close and they can’t take a payment. Ummmm okay. However- I have the app. I updated my card and made a payment. Done! No need to give a lecture how this and that! And not know WHAT YOUR OWN policy and procedures and options are at Moraine. Seriously. Horrible customer service. Okay it’s your new procedure as you say- but this could have been done e so simple and easily fixed without making your customer feeling awkward. She needs more training how to treat ppl and flexible options Moraine offers to their members. The fact she didn’t know you can make a payment on your app. Is not good. She’s been here for months. Train her.

All our membership money is going where??? It’s ridiculous that all the lockers upstairs are consistently breaking and never repaired. (More than 15 right now with a sign out of order and another 2 without doors at all)
A cheap membership at Planet or Charter and there’s nothing like this but here you pay way more for this?

Kinda went downhill in the past year or so must tread mills don’t work, towels if any smell, machine weights ripped and not taken care of, I understand it’s the people who use them but like I said it’s been on a downhill staff is horrible trainers focus only on current clients and I think most of all men’s bathroom/sauna is always dirty gross, lockers do not lock many do not even have doors but gym is close….

I have been a member at FitRec before covid hit and we decided to go back with my whole family this year. I liked the gym a lot, even tho my husband kept complaining about the locker rooms being dirty, towels everywhere, empty bottles, people shaving in steam room, and smell from sewers when showering. About a month ago I was put in a situation where couple mothers walked in into womens locker room with there sons ages between 6-12, i felt very uncomfortable as I was under the shower one of the boys walked in on me while I was showering. I right away reacted and reported it to the manager and the director. My husband was very upset with this situation as we ourself have 3 sons and never would we take them into a womens locker room. They tried to kick my husband out because he was very upset with this situation as if “we” did something wrong. After few meetings and few emails back and forth they assured us no boys 3 and up will be going in there as their policy states that. Two weeks later I again had an incident where there were 3 boys between ages 5-12 in the locker room taking showers, i had to witness a older boy who was around 12 naked and felt very uncomfortable and shocked because I have a 12 year old son and I know how emberessed and uncomfortable it qould make him feel. The staff didn’t handle the situation in a proper maner pretty much ignored and didn’t have anything to say to me, while another mother was calling me “racist” “karan” because I feel uncomfortable to be naked infront of her 5 year old son… she told me to “take the stick out of my ass” as if I should just walk around naked inside the gym without being emberessed. If you respect your body and respect being a woman I would not recommend using this gym or atleast the locker room for those reasons, unless you are ok with grooming kids than thats a different story. The staff is pretty lazy about doing their job and either sit by the front desk and have a chit chat or simply walk around and act like their doing something. Instead they could control who walks into the locker room because they know when the kids swimming lessons end.
We are currently at La Fitness and couldn’t be more happier the price is way less, better equipment, and most importantly I am safe from little boys running around naked im the locker room because kids are not allowed in the locker rooms and it’s only women and men locker rooms!

My family and I have been members for nearly 7 years!! The facility is always clean and staff is helpful.

My kids are also members at kidrec and they have a blast and always look forward to coming with me. The girls at kidrec are super sweet and always very friendly. My kids have also attended their summer camps and holiday camps (9am-4pm) as well as “family night out “ events that were held once a month which gave parents the opportunity to drop off their children for 3 hours and leave the facility. Last time I checked for this event it required parents to attend… which is great but would be better if they allowed parents to drop off. Another thing I would like to see change is kidrec hours (8:30-12 and 5-8:30). Before Covid kidrec hours were 8:30-12 and 3:30/4pm-8:30 ; I would drop off the kids at kidrec at 3:30**work out and pick them up for their swim lessons soon after which are also offered at moraine. This was a lot more convenient for us .

Lots of classes offered, tons of space to workout, multiple equipment for use (equipment recently was updated which is a plus). Peak hours 5:30ish until 9pm is hectic and packed especially during the winter so if you don’t like crowded places I’d avoid peak hours and attend early (early bird gets the worm lol)

Overall the experience is always pleasant, everyone keeps to themselves, and the facility is well kept and maintained.

Recently, I was interested in becoming a gym member at Moraine Valley Community College. When I saw the cost of an annual senior 65+ gym membership there, I was flabbergasted! Try 453.00 plus. And at the same time, full time students attend for free. There were other senior memberships that were cheaper by a little more of savings than 100.00 if you don't mind attending at non-peak hours. Moraine Valley has an annual enrollment of 35,000 students. If all students were charged 100.00 annually, Moraine Valley would collect 3,500,000 yearly. This should be free for employees, which it is not now. Keep in mind, that if you charged seniors 100.00 annually, you would attract even more people. Our seniors taxes for the last 50 years or more have made this facility possible. It's also important to know that Moraine is also charging our Military members the same price of 453.00 plus like the seniors. Gee thanks Moraine,for showing your appreciation by charging our country's seniors and military members the highest individual membership price at Moraine Valley Community College.

ACCESSIBILITY REVIEW: Although it is a long walk into the gym until you reach the elevator and there are not enough handicap parking spaces, and the first handicap door button can be very temperamental this gym is excellent for differently abled folks. First of all, the diversity of workout equipment is wonderful in the upstairs gym, so it is possible to find a cardio machine that works for your disability. They have machines just to workout your arms and a large selection of recumbent cardio equipment. There are also lots of exercise balls for PT exercises and areas to stretch. They have a long ramp into their swimming pool. There is only a bench in one shower in the main changing room, but there are two family dressing rooms off of the pool area that also have benches in the showers. (The benches are a little too large for the showers though.) The shower heads in the accessible showers slip often, making it challenging to rinse out your hair. The hooks for hanging things up in these stalls have been broken for awhile. The jacuzzi would be so great on my achy joints, but unfortunately it is not handicap accessible. (You must go up and down stairs to enter the jacuzzi.) I'm hoping someday soon that Fit Rec will invest in some EVCs to help differently abled members navigate the long walk from the front doors to the pool or elevators.

ON A NON- ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: This gym needs more general parking too! It sucks to be a paying member and have to park two blocks away because the college rented the facility to a gymnastics exhibition or basketball tournament. Prioritize your members parking. Make the renters walk!

I went to the swimming pool on Sunday, I generally like swimming pools and gyms, but today an unpleasant situation happened. I wanted to go to the pool, I changed my clothes, I went to the pool and the lifeguard said that the pool was closed because they were having a pool party. It was never written anywhere before that such a situation took place. It wasn't a pleasant surprise. My advice: next time, write at the entrance to the changing room that the swimming pool is closed, you will save yourself from unpleasant surprises.

We are members and exercise 3 times a week or more. Spotless environment, they are always cleaning. Only 4 years old. Lots of kids programs during the Summer...so cute. For seniors it is a little less than $500. per year. It is a reasonable investment for health and I almost never shower at home anymore. Nice secure free lockers.

Experienced forgetting my headphones and told listening to music on low aloud is not allowed, even when the facility is empty. Another occasion was told not to use one of their rooms, even if it’s empty and no classes were taking place. Have had several bad experiences whenever going to this gym. Every time I try to stretch and do ab workouts, one specific worker always storms through the gym like she/he is on a mission to tell me I’m not allowed to lay down AS IM DOING MY WORKOUT. How else does this person expect me to stretch. I have attended the yoga classes here and they always required me to lay down as well so why don’t they rush to the rescue to the class. Very unprofessional staff. Needs to hire more qualified individuals, not some children that act like they run the place. Would give zero stars if I could.
