Golf course Golf club ParkAbout the Club
Heritage Bluffs Public Golf Club has been one of Chicagolandβs highest rated golf courses since it opened in 1993. It offers a challenge for the serious player and fun for the more casual player across its rolling acres that offer scenic beauty unlike most Chicago-area courses. Everyone can find a length to suit their game from our four tee boxes that stretch the course from 5000 to over 7100 yards.
Located near the intersection of Interstates 80 and 55 just south of Joliet, Heritage Bluffs is the pride of the Channahon Park District. The tranquil surroundings make a day playing golf fun and relaxing. Heritage Bluffs is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary and has received a 4-Star rating from Golf Digest magazine.

We have eaten here several times & find food & service decent. Unfortunately this time upon arrival (6:30 pm) several people were smoking cigs & cigars on patio & our seats were downwind! We left.

This is Chicagolandβs hidden gem. Little bit of a drive for city folks but well worth it. Each hole is unique and challenges you to apply course management. Holes 3 and 7, 18 are interesting. Pars 5 can be aggressively attacked. There are several holes where driver isnβt the club to use so tests your all the clubs in your bag. Shot my lowest score here at 74 so definitely a favorite to play. Plus you donβt need to pay up front which is a ridiculous thing courses are doing now. Hopefully HB will keep this same policy. Greens and fairways are in excellent shape year round.

Very nice course overall, and a good value.
Course conditions are excellent on fairways and most greens. Sand traps are a little rocky, but maintained. Some tee boxes are in rough shape, but the course maintenance crew seems to be addressing these minor items. Greens rolled true.
The course is walkable, but be aware there is a bit of a walk between greens and tee boxes, along with terrain changes. Water barrels available at several points along the course, as are bathroom facilities.
Cart paths are in great condition, and I liked the fact that the carts have GPS to flag locations.
Restaurant/bar area is clean, and staff are attentive. Nice outdoor seating area. Location convenient to I-55.
If it would have been possible, I'd rate this at 4.5 stars, as it's not a destination course. But if you live in the Chicagoland area, it's definitely a course to consider playing.

Sent me and my 5 year old away when we tried to buy buckets at the range. Stated the rule was 6+ years old on the range, regardless of the fact that we have enjoyed the range multiple times in the past. Could not find anything posted on their website, other than their youth programs designed to βget kids into golfβ upsetting to st the least

There is no doubt in my mind the super evening walking rate is a top 5 deal in the Chicagoland area. Last night, I walked 9 holes for $13 on a beautiful night with a very well maintained course. 6,7, and 8 were all challenging and fun and the greens rolled true. This is how to keep golf from having the steep barrier of entry, allow for good rates at a great course. Well done.

A great course, but not for $99 non resident fee. Was absolutely shocked when i was going to pay for a 10am tee time and it was $99. Go to mistwood for $125. Better course and its 100% worth it. Even the starters on Heritage dont even play there because its so expensive. Also, the starter said after 11am it drops $20 to $79 rate. My group of 16 wont be back, thats for sure.

Definitely a pretty course, well maintained also. A great thing is that all the carts have a club and ball clean personally I love that. Kina expensive though if your going during prime time but you can get it down to about 45$ if you go at the right time.

Went for Mother's Day brunch and despite being told that all of the same items would be available in the afternoon as in the morning there was minimal options. Half of the listed available options were not there. The food was comparable to cafeteria food and it was outrageously expensive for what was being offered. Service was almost non existent and I could tell they wanted us out fast for other reservations. Extremely disappointed.

I was scheduled to play the course today and unfortunately cart path only. I was disappointed that HB does not accommodate handicapped people like Broken Arrow, Carriage greens and other course with a small handicap flag which allows 90 degrees. Hope in future their Policy can be reviewed and find way to accommodate Handicap people during Cary path only. Ronald Dion

Played this course for the first time yesterday. The senior weekday special was an excellent value. The course was in very good shape and was challenging. There's a temporary clubhouse while the original clubhouse is being remodeled and improved. The staff was very friendly. I recommend you give Heritage Bluffs a try if you haven't played it before. You'll enjoy it!

Disappointed with our most recent experience. Weekend rates are not cheap (about $80 with a cart), yet the course has seen better days. Bunkers included stones, branches and leaves with the sand that hasnβt seen a rake in a long time. Greens were OK at best, but not in great shape. I know they have done a good job with the cart path and are investing a bunch of money on their clubhouse renovation, but itβs a shame to see the course suffer. We like the course layout, but in the condition it was in for the price, there are too many better choices in the western and southern suburbs. Hope they re-evaluate their priorities.

The terrain, oh the terrain! You donβt find elevation changes at many tracks in the Chicagoland area. Heritage Bluffs doesnβt have that issue.
The true standout at HB is the back 9. Showcased as several fantastic par 4βs, including my personal favorite, #15.
The only constructive criticism of HB are the greens. Often so soft my ball would look like it was bathed in mud (and they are generally as slow as molasses).
Overall, HB is a MUST play, especially in the fall when splashed with autumn colors.

The course and condition is always 5 star, the rates are fine, pace of play is usually pretty great, but I have a major issue with two staff members.
Clubhouse Pro Shop attendant is so nice, but he's so talkative that I've been late checking in for my tee time. Then, the real HARDO of Heritage, the starter, gets on your case MALICIOUSLY if you check in with him any later than 10 minutes before your tee time. Simmer down, dude, we're at Heritage Bluffs in Channahon IL, not Olympia Fields or Medinah. The group in front of us hasn't even teed off yet. That damned Autocrat of the Bluffs will basically threaten you with calling the police before you've even started your round if you're under the age of 30, because he's had to call the cops on "some kids who were driving too close to the green". God forbid young players come down here to HIS course. Starter Shack Steve needs to chill out.
Other than that, great course. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

1 star for the course being beautiful and challenging. 1 star for the maintenance of the course, maintained very well. Thatβs about wheee the good in this review ends. Saw a previous review that said βWe missed the sign that said Whites Only.β Couldnβt be more accurate.
We were constantly harassed from the start of our round. We were told in the pro shop that we would be able to get 4 gas carts for Covid precautions, but the starter immediately said they wouldnβt have enough carts for the rest of the day when we asked. Strange because I saw about 10 available carts behind him.
We got to the tee box of the 2nd hole and there were three groups ahead waiting to tee off. Called in, they said theyβd send the starter out. Turned out, the starter forgot to pair a couple twosomes with the same tee time. Took us 35-40 minutes to get on the tee. Had a 2:40 tee time and only made it through 15 holes before it got dark.
To top it all off, as we were unloading our bags, someone from the pro shop screamed at us to bring our carts in ASAP and harassed us until we did. Beautiful course, terrible customer service. Hope it wasnβt because we had 3 brown guys in our group. Will not be coming back.

The course is beautiful, the pro shop staff is polite and the beer girl is nice. The problem is two times now... Golf carts were unavailable at my tee off time. Nice course but pretty bad experience for a Sunday morning. 6:40 tee time, round took over 4 hours and 40 minutes. No rangers seen on the course to keep speed of play. Group ahead of us should not be on a golf course. They were hitting the flag sticks with their putters like baseball bats, walking backwards and hitting our balls back at us (well they tried he just shanked it) and throwing one of my group's ball into the water. Way too slow for a 640 tee time. Speed of play and etiquette not managed by the course. Made the pro shop aware of this, didn't really seem to care, didn't offer a refund, I doubt I'll come back here.

Course is awesome, really enjoyed playing. Play was slow, we had a 2 some of kids put out in front of us on the back nine which really slowed us up even more. I would give this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the slow play. Our tee time was 3:50 on a Friday wasn't expecting weekend golf pace.

I love the variety of holes on this course. Its a nice mix of links, and parkland styles. Going off the first tee it looks like you'd be in for a nice links experience. But later on the front nine you're in the forest with tree lined fairways and narrow landing zones. After the turn #10 requires an accurate mid to long iron off the tee down to a slight dogleg-right with trouble left and right of the landing zone. Then plays up to an elevated green. #18 plays uphill with a narrow landing zone with forest left, and tall fescued mound left. It took a long iron off the tee, and a long iron into the green to get there. Lots of varied shots on this course, you can't just go out and hit driver-9 iron every hole. Plenty of bunkers and water features too, even a couple of beach style ones bordering water. If I had a gripe it would be that the greens were kind of beat up later in the day, but that's just from idiots not repairing ball marks. Would recommend, and will play again.
