This is a perfect combination of fun and discipline. They took a group of kids ages 6-11 and got them running through an obstacle course, challenging themselves and having a ton of fun. We came here for a Girl Scout event and it was amazing!
Marty was so engaging. We had 20 second graders, and they have never been so quiet. They learned how to climb walls, do an obstacle course and shoot a bow and arrow. We will definitely be coming back for a camp or birthday party soon. Thank you for having us!

We had just thrown a memorable birthday party for my son at Hot Ground Gym . This has proven to be one of the highlights of our entire year! The gym was all set up and staff were eager to help. These guys are great! We had my son’s birthday there and it was an amazing time. The staff were more than prepared to handle 25 6 years olds. We had our first grader's birthday party at Hot Ground Gym and all 3 of my kids gave the experience a 100/10. Marty was great. Everything was organized, with just the right level of free play compared to structure. He adjusted the expectations of the obstacle course as well as the kids' engagement for their ages and in the moment even altered expectations so my 10 and 11 year olds could have fun along side all of the 6/7 year olds there. There were NO hosting duties put on me and it was an awesome, empowering and fun experience for the kids and stress free for the adults. We will be looking into camps and future classes.

Best choice I ever made for my kid. Birthday parties and videos on Facebook simply do not give this place its due. There is so much more to this place than any first impression can deliver. On the surface, kids learn things like how to use tools and simple machines, how to navigate and overcome obstacles, how to do hard things safely. But it is the implicit lessons that will wow you: how to break hard things down to not be overwhelmed; how to see challenges as learning opportunities and not quitting opportunities; that you don’t need to be loud to be heard, you don’t need to be strong or fast to help your team succeed, and that success is not always about being first or fastest or strongest. The men who lead these classes and teach these character-building life lessons are seasoned veterans, strong and imposing men who take a knee and speak softly to our kids to empower them without ever intimidating them. The Hot Ground Gym hosted our Student Leadership Group from River Trails Middle School in Mount Prospect on Friday, November 1st. They lead our group through different obstacle courses and team challenges. We loved the quotes and lessons about leadership that were intertwined in the activities. There was something for every type of student and the skills they learned can be applied for the rest of their lives. This was a perfect outing for our leadership team and as a bonus the activities were a blast!! The students and teachers had a great time and learned a ton in the process. I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the amazing camp experience over the past 2 weeks. My son has had nothing but glowing reviews of the activities, structure, and leadership at HGG. Quite honestly it is the ONLY thing that's ever managed to tire him out; he is quite the high energy kid! A couple days he actually came home and took a NAP!

Every day he comes home raving about the obstacle courses, team challenges, and of course... Fridays (Nerf/water fun)! He honestly wishes it would never end- and it fills my heart with so much joy.

My kids love hot ground gym! They have been going for years are never get tired of it because the missions and obstacles are constantly changing. Every class is carefully planned so that it builds on the skills they worked on the week before and the kids can really see the progress they're making. The instructors are very well trained and make a point of building a relationship with every child as well as their families. Every child is encouraged and taught based on their own capabilities and they leave class feeling accomplished (and tired!). In addition to the physical skills, they are constantly being taught to problem solve, use critical thinking and work together with other kids. As they get older and advance through the ranks, the kids start getting extra responsibilities such as leading missions and helping teach the younger kids. As a part of this they also work on public speaking and how to teach skills to kids of different ages. Hot ground gym is the best after school activity!

I could not be more impressed with our Brownie Girlscout outing we hosted at Hot Ground Gym Arlington Heights. Our 3rd grade girls had so much fun running through the obstacle course and shared so many smiles. D.J. and Marty were great to work with and have a great understanding of what types of activities and missions to incorporate into the outing based on the age of the girls. We were able to work on the girls' climbing badge and learn how to rope climb! Girls were taught the proper technique and had many opportunities to practice and receive feedback from the coaches. They worked together with ropes to move heavy objects across the gym and the natural communication skills needed to accomplish this was incredibly endearing to watch. The girls were proud of each other and continued to encourage one another. Such an amazing team building opportunity and we had so much fun!

I had my son's 6th birthday party here with 14 of his friends (both boys and girls) ranging in age from 5 to 7. It is hard to put to words how awesome I think the program at Hot Ground is for young kids after seeing them in action. I am very risk averse but never felt there were safety concerns, the kids loved it, the parents loved it and we had the entire gym for the party. Each instructor was extremely helpful, kind and each child got lots of individual attention, encouragement and support. The kids learned how to listen, to respect, to try, to be brave and that they would be helped without any embarrassment or negative attention. This is far different from other places I looked at having his party where the kids just 'play' without structure. ALL KIDS need these lessons and benefit from this (especially nowadays), and I cannot wait for my son to go back on days when there is no school and they have their special camps on those days. I have not attached photos out of respect for the privacy of the children, but it is clean and hygienic.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! This past weekend we had our 6 year old boy/girl twins Birthday Party at the Libertyville location. We had a party of like fifteen 5 and 6 year old boys and girls who had the best time at Hot Ground Gym. All of the kids had a great time running through the designated obstacle course and participating in the Team Challenge Mission for the birthday party (Each week they change the obstacle course and Team Challenge). Every single child at the party was so engaged and having a great time. Sam and Doug are impressively great people. From the first time I contacted either of them at Hot Ground Gym to discuss details and book the birthday party, the were very welcoming, patient, informative, and extremely helpful. I called back a few times with some questions before booking and they were so understanding and even went above and beyond to make sure all of my questions were answered. To even make my decision with booking the birthday party a little more reassuring, they let us experience what the birthday party was going to be like by offering us a “FreeTrial”Class at the Arlington Heights location. Thank you so much Sam and Doug, because that really helped us get a real feeling of what the birthday party was going to be like and bonus was the kiddos got to burn off some energy.Lol
Besides the awesome structured obstacle course and Team Challenge, Sam and Doug do an outstanding, fun Cake Cutting Ceremony and the birthday cake is cut with a sword. The birthday kiddos get to do this. They LOVED it! The kids thought that was the coolest thing ever.

I can’t say enough about how incredible Hot Ground Gym is. I initially signed up my kids because after having been in lockdown for so long, I just needed them to get out of the house and have a place for them to run around. The HGG staff does an amazing job in establishing a fun, safe and active environment that is respectful and positive allowing these kids to thrive physically, mentally and emotionally. With three active boys, it is a gift for me to find a program that meets three different energy and physical skill levels.
However, this is definitely no ordinary “let your kid go burn off some steam” kind of gym class.
Through the brilliant use of an obstacle course and teamwork-focused missions, HGG fosters an environment for these kids to grow as leaders. The lessons they learn around teamwork and leadership, the self confidence they gain, and the empowerment they feel when taking on the numerous challenges and missions, are what make this program not just unique but hugely influential in my kids’ lives.
But beyond the skills and learnings my kids have gained at the HGG, is what we gained as a family, being a part of the HGG community. We have really loved the experiences at HGG. My son attended the summer camp and faced different, exciting adventures each day. He had the opportunity to be both a leader and follower, working as a team to meet challenges, learning about a variety of things from grappling to knife throwing, rope climbing to archery and so much more. He has done other physically challenging programs but enjoys HGG most because while it is physical work he learns new skills and has different experiences each time. In the weekly program, he has similar adventures, focused on both team building and individual growth. Literally love this place and all that they stand for. This is a facility ran by people who care about setting our kids up for success with a side of tough skin. It's a bit far for us but my sis in law and I make it happen by alternating car pool just so we can get the kids into atleast one week of their camp sessions. They focus on team building, confidence building, working out their mind, and their bodies everyday. They rave about their day and actually are begging for another week. As a mom of three boys we have been in countless paid programs over the past few years. Things I appreciate HGG provide that are unique in children's programs from my experience: (1) Automated text message reminders of classes (2) The ability for blocking out classes a month at a time (3) No commitment of day of the week. Ie: One week want to go Tuesday and next week Wednesday, done. No special permission needed. We tend to go on the same day of the week, but the flexibility without the extra phone call is phenomenal. (4) There is a one time sign up fee and then a monthly automated payment. I appreciate this being done automatically and not having to pay per class. (5) Last but not least my kids really really like it. Every week the set up is completely different which helps negate boredom. I also like that it's run like a tabata class with different stations and then one "special" activity each week (like indoor zip-lining etc.) In summary, we love this place for our family. It's providing our boys with skills that will certainly help them in many aspects of physical activity in which I feel our society is lacking. If we could make it twice a week we would (and may try to do so in the summer).

We found Hot Ground Gym (HGG) by accident because of my daughter’s interest in Parkour or Ninja-type obstacle course activities, kind of like the American Ninja Warrior tv show. There are two aspects to HGG’s approach that made this place a great choice for our child’s after-school activities: 1) classes offer far more than a fun, physical after-school activity where the kids get to burn energy by climbing, jumping, swinging on ropes, etc; and 2) while the kids are “playing” they’re also learning about teamwork, confidence, cooperation, responsibility, leadership and problem-solving skills. That is the backbone of this whole company which is run by veterans—teaching kids very important life skills during the classes through the different activities. Other important details which factored into our decision choosing HHG included: 1) small class size; 2) individualized attention; 3) beautiful new facility that is very clean; and 4) very reasonable rates for classes. We started our child at 1 time per week but are moving up to 2 times per week since she loves it so much.

We have two daughters, ages five and seven. At Hot Ground Gym they get a good work out but don’t even realize they are exercising because they are focused on the obstacle course tasks. These classes safely challenge the kids to try things they normally wouldn’t get to try: climbing over walls, running up ramps, climbing ropes, etc. Sam does an amazing job breaking down the ever-rotating obstacles into separate skills and then training those skills and muscle groups. My 7 years old son just recently had his birthday celebration at the Hot Ground Gym in Arlington Heights, IL. The owner Sam went above and beyond to make sure everything is going smoothly! He provided everything we asked for, was extremely helpful and super super super friendly! He even called us a few times before the party to double check if everything is on the schedule and if there is anything else he could do for us before the party starts. Amazing service, super clean gym, available sanitizers, masks, you name it! Wonderful classes that every single child attending the party loved and said ‘this was the best party they have ever been to’’!

We just celebrated my son's 6th birthday party at Hot Ground Gym in Arlington Heights and it was a huge success! Sam was awesome with the kids and trust me, these are wild five and six year olds! However, he kept them engaged the whole time and had a few neat tricks up his sleeve to make the birthday boy feel special. We love everything about Hot Ground Gym! Our son has been attending weekly classes there for six months. He was apprehensive at first about this new experience, but Coach Sam assured and encouraged him and he now loves attending each week! Sam creates a fun and exciting environment while still insisting on (and earning) respect and cooperation. We love the ways he teaches practical life skills in the midst of giving the kids fun obstacle course challenges.

This weekend, we hosted our son’s sixth birthday party at HGG and it was a HUGE hit! Our son had a fantastic time and felt special throughout the party, but his friends had as good of a time as he did and were sad when the party was over. We think HGG gained several new clients as a result of the great way Sam and his staff led the party and created a fun yet structured environment for all of the kids.

I just left Hot Ground Gym after an awesome team building event that I scheduled for my daughters’ Indian Princess program. Sam was amazing. He connected with the girls and got them moving, thinking, problem solving and working together. He kept them engaged and smiling which is not always easy for girls ages 5-12. Wow. What an awesome birthday party Sam and his helper Evan led for my 7 year old daughter and 17 of her friends! I can't rave enough about how great everything was; and the best part was that I didn't have to do a thing except show up. The girls had so much fun doing obstacles involving climbing, crawling, flipping, and more...all the while building trust and confidence in each other and themselves. My daughter's favorite part was when she was lifted and carried in a canoe by her friends. She also loved the obstacle that began with flipping over a hanging bar (which she was afraid of at first, but Sam helped her overcome that fear within seconds). We will definitely be back! We moved here nearly a year ago, and started our son shortly after the move. Since then, he has grown in confidence, independence, compassion, trust, and respect. He has the diagnoses of ADHD, oppositional defiance disorder, intermittent explosive disorder, and anxiety. He hasn’t had a single tantrum since his third week with Sam at Hot Ground. He is kinder, more respectful, and genuinely wants to have better and more meaningful relationships with peers. The teamwork and relationship model offered here is unique in that the kids depend on any random group as the class days vary. The outward focus seems to be physical development, but the true focus is mental, social-emotional, and community growth.

Sam absolutely loves the kids as they are, wherever they are, and is building up each person as that individual needs to be built up. He is a true gem, and my son looks forward to each class, excited about each one.

This place is truly awesome! Great for children to interact with one another, to learn to work together to complete tasks. My son is a huge fan, We did the summer camp this year and it was filled with so many activities, he came home tired and with fun stories! (Nerf gun Battles/Water Parks/ Apparently my son prefers Sams grilling skills than mine/the Beach / Obstacle courses). The instructors are amazing with the kids, they motivate each child to achieve their best, if they see a child struggle or afraid of doing an activity, they provide one on one and walk them through it, this empowers the child and enables the child to realize that even through things might be scary, they are achievable and you can see on that kids face after they faced that fear and receive that support from teammates. As a parent this was one of the most disappointing places I attended for a birthday party. My daughter has been crying ever since attending today. She was approached by one of the staff members (bald guy) who told her she couldn’t participate due to age while I was signing in. He decided to tell her and not me as the parent. Unprofessional and unacceptable.

Giving her a pink balloon wasn't the answer. You should be ashamed of yourself.

My daughter’s 11th birthday was a big hit! You have to be creative in order to hold the attention and interest of kids this age and the Arlington Heights staff did an awesome job! Everyone were excited from start to finish and they loved the challenge of going through all those obstacles. Unlike other parties where kids to their things in different groups, with their own buddies, the activities at Hot Ground teach and enforce team work and everyone’s just so focused in a positive way. I’m sure this is a party they’ll surely remember!

Are we returning you ask? Definitely! We even enrolled our daughter, on the spot, to participate in their programs. I believe what they do in the “Gym” teaches some important life lessons and I’m all for that. In this day and age, it’s important to equip our kids with as much skills to help them blossom in the outside world.

Do I recommend for parties? Absolutely! Everything went smoothly and we, the parents, don’t have to do a thing! They take care of everything from the moment we step in. The eating area is already setup and when it’s time to eat, they serve the pizza and cake that we brought and even helped load up our stuff, gifts and all, to the car. Can’t get the level of service anywhere.

I was so excited, when I got an email, about registering Ian for Hot Ground Presidents Day camp. called to ask for more details about a program that my husbands son was enrolled in since we were unaware of the "testing" and it was occurring during a time when he stays with us. I was very clear that I was not his mother and we were trying to understand the time and expectations. In turn the owner then called to "tattle" to my husbands ex wife that I called asking questions. Last i checked- asking questions was legal and shouldn't be considered "weird". Based on this unprofessional interaction alone I wouldn't spend a penny at this place.

We did our 9 year old daughters birthday party at Hot Ground Gym and her friends had a great time. They were able to work together as a team and found out that they could do things that they didn't think possible. From the obstacles to the missions, the party was a hit! We love Hot Ground! Our son has been a member since the AH location opened a year ago. In that time we’ve seen his strength, endurance & confidence all increase! The instructors are all amazing with the kids! So refreshing to have such positive, male role models leading them. Our son just celebrated his birthday party at Hot Ground and we highly recommend it for any kid. The instructors took care of everything from the moment we walked thru the door. All the guests had a great time & participated in all activities (even the littlest & most timid)!

This is a great place for kids to use up some energy in a great way, to conquer some of their fear and learn new things and skills (like archery, teamwork, leadership, rope climbing). The classes are a very nice mixture of physical activity and skill learning and the kids love it. The teams running the gym also seem to genuinely love interacting with the kids and teaching them. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great activity for kids.

We have been bringing our seven-year-old son to Hot Ground Gym for several months now, and we couldn’t be happier.

First of all, he loves it. We sought out HGG mainly for child development reasons, but that doesn’t change the joy it brings us to see our son so happy there. Even after a long day of school and other demands on his time, he always wants to go.

Most importantly, though, we’ve seen a lot of development in a relatively short time. His confidence has grown, and he’s shown development in his listening skills and ability to work in teams. His leadership skills are still a work in progress, but he did recently advance to a higher “rank,” and it’s easy to see a path forward where he would fully embrace leadership responsibility.

My wife and I have also noticed that, with the instructors being military vets and first responders (and, regardless of that, just really stand-up guys), it is nice for our son to have such positive male role models in his life. Veterans Day was a little more meaningful this year for our son since he now considers a former Marine amongst his friends (one of the instructors who has made a particularly strong impression on him).

HGG is so much more than just a fun obstacle course. The instructors clearly put the children's development above all else. They’ve created a culture that is incredibly positive while at the same time demanding; they won’t let your child get away with anything less than his or her best effort, but they will also make sure your child leaves feeling loved and respected. I only wish we had found HGG sooner.

My son loves the classes and was sooo looking forward to winter camp. It exceeded his expectations!! While he had a blast, as a mom i appreciate the balance of fun, challenging activities (the “missions”) with team-building exercises, self-defense training, and character building. I really cannot say enough about HG, it has made my kiddo love exercise and develop physically and mentally!

Awesome spot for a birthday party! Had my 9 year old’s party here and everyone had a blast! All of the kids were engaged, active and excited by the instructors high energy! Such a fun and exciting place for the kids to burn off energy and learn confidence and respect at the same time! Had our son's 10th birthday here a few weeks ago and the kids absolutely LOVED it! Paul & Marty were fantastic! They commanded the entire party from start to finish like professionals--never missing a beat with the varied group of kids attending. Hello everyone! My 8.5 year old daughter has been attending the Arlington Heights location for about a year now. She absolutely loves it! I stay and watch every class, and I couldn't be more proud of the skills she is learning. She is pretty athletic, but shy and quiet at the same time. Since she has been enrolled, I've really seen her confidence level change for the better! Being in the safe environment and learning skills out everyday lifestyle, has helped complete the human she is today. We also love the teachable moments of respect, teamwork, and discipline. Marty has been the operations manager since we started and is absolutely fabulous. I can't say enough wonderful things about hot ground gym. Have your child try it, and I'm sure you won't leave disappointed.

If you are looking for a fun, unique place to have your child's birthday party, look no further. We just hosted my daughter's 7th birthday here and couldn't be happier with Hot Ground Gym in Arlington Heights. The kids were captivated by the instructors and were fully attentive the entire hour and a half. The staff was amazing!
They had the kids work together through different obstacle courses and had some special team building activities for the birthday girl where here friends had to work together to hold her up. Although some of the obstacles were difficult, I feel that they did a great job of focusing on how to safely execute each challenge. My daughter said that she was nervous during one of the activities but that the instructors made her feel safe and helped her to overcome her fear. This was a great experience and we plan to have our kids sign up to take some of the team building classes. Their summer camps and winter camps also look amazing. To top it off it is great to support a veteran founded business.

This place is great! We took the free trial class and my kids liked it so much that we signed up on the spot! They get a great workout while learning useful life skills. We absolutely LOVE Hot Ground Gym!!!! Everything!!!! From the activities to the discipline to the teamwork....every single aspect of this place is amazing and all former military which I have mad respect for and appreciate the time they served and dedicated. The guys there are true leaders and great role models....so respectful and kind and incredible with all the kids. We highly recommend this place for boys or girls. It’s very American Ninja Warrior with its military obstacles and my 4 yr old son begs me to go every day. I love seeing his confidence and excitement when he is done “training”.

My son loves this place. All of the instructors are former military. They spend half their time doing calisthenics. The other half of the time they do a creative activity involving team work. For instance one day they did squats and box jumps the first half. Then for the second half they stacked three wooden boxes on top of each other. Then the kids had to work together to stack a box with a kid on it on top of the other three. I was skeptical they would be able to but they did. My son is always eager to come here.

This place is AWESOME!! Both of my children (young girl in Bravo and older boy in Charlie) LOVE it!! My daughter's teachers and friends notice a huge difference in her and she smiles and credits Hot Ground Gym for the change! I wish they had opened sooner!! We are very glad we had our son’s 7th BD party at Hot Ground Gym ( Arlington Heights location).The whole party was fun and full of challenging physical activities and teamwork. Cutting the cake with a sword was an unforgettable experience for my son! Instructors were professional and very helpful. We had a blast hosting our son’s 7th birthday here. Not only was it super easy, thanks to the helpful staff, but also our guests enjoyed the birthday party so much, some ended up signing up their kids for the programs they offer. We personally had a great experience and would host again here in the future. One thing I’d like to note is that all guests need gym shoes (something easily forgotten as most are used to being in socks at other birthday party venues) and the host needs to provide water for all guests (common sense but needs to be noted). I don’t remember this info in their welcome email, but maybe I missed it.

We have had an amazing experience at the new location in Arlington Heights. My son REALLY enjoyed being a part of this program where he is physically and mentally challenged. I love the staff, everyone from Paul the co-owner to Joey their lead teacher at this location. Its organized and fun. My son looks forward to it every week. I had my son's birthday party at Hot Ground Gym. It was a great experience for all his kindergarten friends (girls and boys)! The staff was caring, led the entire group with detailed instructions, physical support when needed, and verbal encouragement. The group leader(s) connected with my son, walked him through the activities planned, and changed the layout when he became nervous about a particular obstacle. The cake cutting was the best part! I would recommend Hot Ground Gym... so glad I found you guys:)!
