Played 3-28-2022 cold and windy cant wait to try it on a nice day. The course was in good shape just like "The Champ"!!!! 7-19-2022 Humid but played a decent round. Course in good shape for how hot it has been!!!!
Played 9-18-2025 course was in good shape. There were some green POSERS taking 5 minutes to set up a putt none of the 4 made. But we went back to 1 at the turn to avoid the back up and finished on 17 and 18. Shot a 100!!!!

First time playing here. My husband and I did the back nine in the evening. The course is pretty challenging, but it was not crowded at all and since we are fairly new to the sport, we didn't feel rushed which was nice. Fairways and greens were both in very good shape and the young lady in the office was very friendly and helpful. The only minor complaint is the pricing ($70 total for the two of us for 9 holes with a cart after 4pm) is kind of high considering this is a public forest preserve course. We will definitely come back and do a full 18 before the season is over.

The course itself is decent, and I can overlook things like no rakes in the bunkers—most people don’t use them anyway. But the lack of service and total disorganization is what earns this place one star.

I had a 6:00 AM tee time and, like always, I planned to pay for a cart at the register. Instead, I was told they were “sold out” and that I had to book online. That’s ridiculous. When I made the turn, there were carts just sitting there unused (photo below). Walking 18 holes is not what I signed up for, and being refused a cart despite plenty being available is unacceptable.

Even worse, when we showed up at 5:40 AM, no one was even in the pro shop. Doors locked. No staff in sight. First tee time in 20 minutes and not a single employee ready to go. On a Saturday.

The staff working that morning clearly had no interest in helping anyone or putting in even the smallest amount of effort. Just going through the motions, doing the bare minimum, if that.

This place doesn’t have a service problem—it has a no-service problem. It was a frustrating way to start the day and absolutely not worth the money.

Hello, I hope this message finds the right hands. My friends and I had a 5 o’clock tee time on 6/28. We finished the front 9 right around 7:20 pm. It was this time that a cart guy told us that carts had to be in by 8 o’clock. We thought this was very odd since we paid for 18 holes with a cart, and that we had over an hour of sunlight left. We called the pro shop and a nice lady picked up the phone and proceeded to say not to worry about it, just play as late as you can and to have carts in by dark. Fast forward 20 or so minutes, we’re now on the 13th tee box and the same cart boy said we had to return the carts. At this time I proceeded to say the nice lady in the pro shop said we could stay til dark. The cart guy then said he didn’t believe me and that I should call her again. After calling her again, and after she once again stated we could play until dark, he said that she wasn’t in control of the carts and didn’t know what she was talking about. I said I would be happy to return the carts if we got our money back, he said that’s not his problem. He followed up by saying us playing until dark would mean he would have to say til dark. I said I’m sorry but we are playing what we paid for. He tried to make a “compromise” by suggesting we skip holes 13-17 and tee off on 18 so we could finish up and he could go home. I once again told him no, that we were playing until dark. So after about 20 minutes of going back and forth, he said that we could lock the carts up ourselves and he drove off.

I’m not one to get confrontational, but I genuinely could not believe the conversation we had with the cart guy. I find it to be very disrespectful that somebody wanted us to skip 5 holes just so he could go home. Not only were we engaging in a senseless argument, but we lost 20 minutes of daylight. Thus, we were only able to finish 16 holes. Never in my life have I been approached with such an unprofessional and childish conversation. I will not recommend.

Greens are in great shape and rolling at a fair, yet fun pace. Fescue areas are strategically placed and eat balls. Fairways are in good shape. Only thing I would change is add rakes to all bunkers. I saw only one bunker rake all day and I was in plenty of them!

Easily my favorite FPG course. Jimmie in the pro shop is super friendly along with the cashiers, the starter is always on top of it, and the grounds crew are easy going and will always pause to let you play through. The course is almost always in great condition. The greens are always tightly mown and have distinct zones/tiers that make different pin placements present very different challenges. Off the tee, there are numerous hazards in play, including fairway bunkers, water (4 holes), and thick patches of fescue that put a premium on accuracy. As an added bonus you'll likely see some great wildlife on the premises too. In my opinion this course is the best value in Chicagoland, and the staff works hard to keep standards high!

Jimmy and the team here are the best. This course in my opinion is the best bang for your buck for 18 holes, driving from the Loop in Chicago. Course is always in solid condition, weekday pace of play is amazing. I regularly finish a full 18 in 2 hours flat. Weekends can get a bit slower for sure. Definitely recommend this course to anyone in the Chicago area, it's the place to be!

DO NOT GOLF HERE.

I tried to cancel a tee time I had made with 2 other friends. They granted me the cancellation/refund, but only refunded me for 1 golfer. This was 3 weeks ago, and I’ve called back ~7 times over that timeframe, but since they incorrectly have it in their system that 2 of us golfed that day they refuse to process the refund. It doesn’t matter who I talk to, they all just say it’s not their fault and start complaining. It’s truly pathetic.

They’ve literally stolen $100 from me and would have no problem doing it to you. This place is terrible, do not golf here.

Solid course! Overall not too challenging, a lot of the holes are pretty open with a decent amount of sand throughout. Greens have some slope to them too which makes for a nice challenge. Course is in really solid condition for the price point. Staff was great to us, especially Consuela who helped us check in.

Only gripe was the amount of fairways and tee boxes that run right against each other. We played at a busy time and felt like groups on separate holes couldn’t stay out of each other’s ways.

Course is in great shape, and not just for a Forest Preserve Golf course either. Great length for all players, has some tee boxes that are a lightly longer than some of the other well kept FPG courses in Chicago. Par 72 course for a fantastic price. Great track, but was treated poorly by the staff and starter. Our group had played just 2 holes and we had been stopped multiple times. We paid for 4 players and only 3 played, though we had to pay an additional $34 for 2 NON-players to ride in a cart. The non-players were instructed to never leave the cart, which was very odd. There was an instance where the same starter drove right across the approach as one from our group was about to hit his ball. We kept a 4 hour 20 minute pace (never were waited on), were respectful and repaired divots the entire round but were treated unfairly. Play with caution and prepare to get followed like a hawk your whole round!!!

Love this course. No boring holes and excellent greens. For ppl complaining about course condition when I first started playing the course around 2004/2005 the fairways were like runways during the summer. So much roll that reaching the par 5 #7 wasn't out of the question. I don't play the course enough to make judgments about conditions today but honestly for the price and considering it's a public course it's still a great value.

I appreciate the history of this course, and I played it 13 years ago during a visit to Chicago. These days, it's a typical facility managed by Billy Casper Golf -- classic design with horrible playing conditions.
The weather has been dry in Chicago, but the bunkers are an unplayable blend of hard-packed clay & mud. I know the golf business is tough, but this is mismanagement.

Really nice golf course in a bit of a tougher area. The holes demand different shot shapes and if it's not too wet, can be a really fun course to play a match on. Back 9 is my favorite, he par 5 in the trees has a wonder green complex.

Played Saturday at 10:15am. Given the amount of rain we had Friday nite, the course was in tremendous shape. Fairways were 2/3 dry, and the greens rolled true. That is the good.

Pace of play though...horrible. There was a 16 person bachelor party in front of us. The front 9 took about 140 minutes to play. Not quick, but not terrible for a 10:30 tee time on a Saturday morning either. The ENTIRE party stopped for lunch and beers at the turn, which means we had to wait for all 4 groups to go off on the back before we were able to start #10. Of course the starter was sitting about 100' away on the first tee, saw this going on, and did nothing to speed things along. So we said to hell with it, and played as a 6 some on the back 9. Outside of the 10th tee, the foursome behind us did not have to wait for a single shot of theirs. In fact, we were off of the 18th green as they were just driving up to the 18th tee, which gives you an idea of just how slow they were playing.

Also, it was 85 degrees with 100% humidity and EVERY single water jug on the course was empty. This is just pure laziness and/or pinching pennies at its absolute worst. I play Forest Preserve courses generally at least a dozen times a year, but its getting hard and harder to justify giving them money, and more importantly devoting 6+ to a round of golf as nothing is ever done about the pace of play at these courses.

Super friendly staff, everyone took the time to great us (it was our first time) with a big smile. Starter was very friendly and took the time to explain the course and some of the local rules. The woman in the clubhouse who handled our greens fees and beverage needs was also very friendly. Even the gentleman who we returned our cart to was friendly and had some good stories to tell! The course itself is a hidden gem; wonderful classic traditional layout that was very challenging yet fair. (the greens are well mounded and contoured, very interesting!) . There were a few small areas of wear here and there, but overall i really liked the course. More golfers need to come down to this course and support it, you won't be disappointed.
