Buying-out other gyms in the Chicago area to just close them ALL down has done NOTHING but made all of the remaining LA Fitness gyms way too packed, beyond capacity. Get feedback from YOUR members, they will say the SAME thing. Borderline, a monopoly -- which is entirely illegal. This is a brand new gym. Machines are always full (or broke). Most of the time, I'm only able to work on cardio. Jacuzzi has been down for about a month. Sauna is shoulder to shoulder. Its not enjoyable at all. 0/10
Most likely, will be paying a little bit more money to go somewhere else, where I'm able to *actually* work on my fitness.
The only compliment I will give this place are the workers who are maintaining the cleanliness of the gym.
Additionally, notice how LA Fitness only thanks the people who leave a 5star review, and won't respond to any of the issues that people are raising. This gym will not last with this horrible approach to guest services.
Edit: A month later, no response. Jacuzzi STILL down!! (Almost two months!)

I visit this gym all the way from Oak Park! It’s the best location as a swimmer. It’s on the second floor so as I swim laps there is a serene outdoor view. This location is also very clean.

why is the music so loud all the time? I should be able to listen to my ear buds at normal to loud volume and not hear the blaring radio sounds through my headphones. it’s definitely gotten louder in the last few weeks. and if you want to talk to someone you have to yell.

Good and bad.
First, the good: Group classes are amazing. Instructors are fun, engaging and friendly. The place is conveniently located. Lots of things to do.
And the bad: It is always crowded. The pool and the hottub aren't kept very clean. I often see stuff floating around. The scale in the locker room is broken. Maintenance staff don't care and the manager only cares about signing up more paying customers.

I’ve been going to this LA Fitness since the end of May 2025 and started training with Jorge F. He has been very knowledgeable, motivating, and positive. By the end of my sessions, I’m completely beat up—but I love it! I’ve already noticed body fat loss. When I mentioned I wanted to see more results on the scale, Jorge reminded me about the importance of eating better and even went the extra mile to write a plan in my workout book. I totally recommend Jorge as a trainer.
Marcela R. is the Zumba instructor, and she makes her classes so much fun. She’s welcoming, energetic, and very knowledgeable—it feels like a party every time.
The gym itself is in good condition and conveniently located just 5 minutes from my house. The only downside is that there aren’t quite enough machines, and sometimes I have to wait to use one.
Overall, a great gym with excellent trainers and instructors!

I've had Hayli H as my trainer for a number of months, and she's tremendous. I meet with her once a week, and she provides a list of exercises for me to do on my own two other times during the week. She's supportive, yet pushes me to do more than I think I can. She's cheerful and energetic, and I can't recommend her highly enough.

I just finished my 2nd personal training session with Aleli, who is fit, vibrant, knowledgeable as fitness trainer. She directs, observes, inquires, adjusts her prescription of exercise and weight training for me and is helping me already to progress toward my month's goal! Thank you, Aleli!
The Foster Ave. LA Fitness Manager was very efficient and positive in helping me and my adult daughter to set up personal training with Aleli at my new membership intake. Thank you!
I have utilized both the W. Foster and W. Touhy locations and have found them to be friendly, clean, well-equipped, and accommodating sites, worthy of the fees charged for the benefits received!
Thank you to the management and all of the staff who team to maintain this level of excellence!

Decent gym. Very good classes. But they really need to clean the equipment. I know gyms aren’t supposed to smell like a spa or be spotless since we all use it, but the weights I used had sediment on it. I even tried to have the person smell the weights because it smelled foul, but she wasn’t interested in confirming my complaint. When I told the front desk about it, they “said” they were gonna let someone know about the problem. I can’t tell if I felt dismissed because of their tone or if I’m used to talk being cheap, but I hope they were telling the truth.

I’ve been a member at XSport for years. YEARS. I’ve survived the occasional broken treadmill, the odd weird smell, even that one guy who grunted like he was passing a kidney stone every time he benched. But nothing could have prepared me for the slow-motion dumpster fire that is LA Fitness taking over XSport in Chicago.
Remember when XSport was open all night, so you could roll in at 3 AM, skip the crowds, and actually touch a dumbbell without signing up for a waitlist? LA Fitness took that dream, wrapped it in a sweaty towel, and left it in the lost-and-found — right next to your stolen gym bag.
Since they shut down one already-busy XSport location, it’s been like a gang war every time you walk in. They didn’t just “absorb” those members — they catapulted them into the nearest surviving location and said, “Good luck, peasants.” Now, no matter what time you go — opening, mid-day, late night — it’s a human traffic jam. I’ve tried every time slot. I’ve tried being clever. Nope. It’s always packed. You either stand around like a wallflower at a bad prom, waiting for equipment, or you wedge yourself between two strangers’ sweat puddles and hope for the best.
It’s not just crowded — it’s hostile. People guard machines like they’re protecting their firstborn. Others wander aimlessly, hogging space, scrolling TikTok between half-hearted sets. I’ve seen people “reserve” three different stations at once like they’re running a real estate empire. You’ll spend longer just trying to figure out where to stand than you will actually lifting weights.
And speaking of chaos: theft. I’ve personally heard more locker theft stories in the last few months than in my entire XSport tenure. Gym bags gone, shoes missing, even people’s wallets lifted. It’s like a wild zoo, except none of the fun and all of the smell. The only thing it’s missing is a “Do Not Feed the Animals” sign — although honestly, it might apply to some of the regulars now.
Cleanliness? Don’t make me laugh. LA Fitness apparently replaced all the paper towel dispensers with… hope. Machines stay slick with mystery sweat, the floors have a sticky “don’t ask” texture, and the mirrors are so smudged you could use them for fingerprint forensics. The showers? Let’s just say I’ve seen cleaner gas station bathrooms.
The staff? XSport’s trainers used to at least pretend to care. LA Fitness staff now look like NPCs in a bad video game whose only dialogue option is “We’re working on it.” Sauna broken? “We’re working on it.” Machines busted? “We’re working on it.” Someone stole your stuff? “We’re working on it.” I’ve seen sloths at the zoo move faster — and at least sloths are cute.
And the worst part? The vibe is gone. XSport had that gritty, hard-work energy. LA Fitness rolled in with their sterile corporate glow — like if Planet Fitness and a DMV waiting room had a baby, and then fed it nothing but broken promises and expired pre-workout. They somehow managed to make it more expensive while giving you less gym you can actually use. Congratulations, I guess?
As soon as my contract’s over, I’m signing up for Planet Fitness — cheaper prices, better quality, and still 24/7. Imagine that: a place where you can actually get on a machine without waiting for someone to finish their Instagram photoshoot.
Final verdict: LA Fitness didn’t just take over XSport — they bulldozed it, paved it over with disappointment, and then had the nerve to charge you more for the privilege of standing in line to use a broken elliptical. If you enjoy overcrowding, chaos, theft, filth, and corporate apathy, this place is your Disneyland. For the rest of us? It’s time to move on before you start needing therapy just to talk about leg day.

Overall, I would recommend the gym! It’s clean, bright and very welcoming. It’s a very inviting place for everyone to workout. My personal trainer, Aleli, is amazing! She gets 5 stars for sure! She really knows her stuff and is very in-tune with my fitness needs. I would recommend her if you are new to fitness or a seasoned person needing change.
I am giving the gym 4 stars because I feel
there is room for improvement.
The sanitizing wipes dry out way too fast when cleaning equipment as they are not quality wipes. Plus, there is not enough of these stations around. I feel many more people would clean the equipment after use if they knew they didn’t have to walk across the entire gym to get them. It’s very inconvenient. Please purchase better wipes and please get way more stations.
It’s hard to get on some of the equipment. The adductor, abductor, leg press and squat racks are always taken. There is one leg press where the weight is on your shoulders and it’s very painful to use. I am not sure why you have this machine.
The bathroom faucets are not under pressure and the water dribbles out. We need to be able to wash our hands with water that comes out with some force. The water that come off my hands is black after a work out, so this is very important
Inappropriate and non hygienic attire. I most definitely do not want to use equipment after someone has had their bare breasts or buttocks area touching the equipment. I get it gets hot, but yuck!

I really enjoy my personal training sessions with Sofia C.! I have been plagued with nagging glute/hip pain and she always checks in with me and modifies exercises as needed. She provides me with challenging workouts and answers all my questions so I really understand what part of my body the exercise is targeting. I have definitely gotten stronger since working with her, and look forward to going to LA Fitness because of our sessions.

Sofia has been my Personal Trainer about 9 months. I’m thankful she approached me with a beautiful smile the first time I entered the facility, about allowing her to train with me. My workout’s are nothing short of amazing.
Early into my workouts I began wondering if any progress was being made, was it worth my time and money? Of course it was!
I am thrilled to say that I am down 10 pounds and many inches, feeling so much better. I had to keep showing up for the progress to manifest!

I have had great results training with Sofia! I've been losing body fat and lost 15 lbs so far. I wanted a trainer who is not only just nationally certified but with more education near my level or more- in anatomy and physiology. She is really good with modifying workouts for me, so I don't injure myself.
This is a good new location. It's clean, and everything in the gym runs well. Tony, the manager, and his team stay on top of everything. I told him what I'm looking for in a personal trainer, and he selected Sofia for me. Staff is really friendly too.
Parking does get crowded at times, but there is additional parking downstairs, too.

Update: gym has been shut down and doors locked for some months now. All bodies got shuffled over to their other locations...
Too crowded. Hours need adjusting to accomodate all the bodies. There is an adequate amount of equipment and machines that are in fairly good working condition, minus the ones that seem to never get fixed. Whirlpool has been closed since I've been going there. Place is modern and kept pretty clean. People sit on machines doing nothing and staring at their phones which is stupidly annoying. LA Fitness would be wise to revamp XSport properly instead of letting it rot unused.

I really enjoy going to LA Fitness. The gym has everything I need plenty of machines, good space, and a solid atmosphere for working out. It’s become a part of my daily routine and I genuinely look forward to being there.
That being said, I do have a serious concern about the locker rooms. Lately, I’ve noticed people taking pictures and videos of themselves in the locker room, which is very uncomfortable, inappropriate, and honestly just annoying. Locker rooms are meant to be private and respectful spaces. Filming in there crosses a boundary and makes others feel uneasy.
I hope the staff can start enforcing rules more strictly when it comes to using phones in the locker rooms. It’s a great gym overall, but that issue really needs to be addressed.
To the ones doing it, knock it off. You want to flex for your followers? Go do it in your home or outside not in a shared locker room. You’re not the main character here. This is a gym, not your stage. Show some respect or stay home. We don’t need that kind of behavior in a place meant for focus and discipline.

I’ve been going to this LA Fitness for over two years. It was never great — just convenient. The gym is loaded with bottom-tier equipment like Matrix and Hoist machines, the kind you’d expect to see in a meme roasting bad gyms. What made it tolerable was that it was never busy and located under 10 minutes from my home.
That’s where the positives end — and things have only gone downhill.
Ever since LA Fitness acquired XSport and shut down nearby locations, this gym has turned into something that feels more like a prison yard than a fitness facility. The crowd has completely changed — the increase in gang tattoos, the strong and constant smell of weed in the locker room, and the overall vibe have made the place uncomfortable and unwelcoming. It’s constantly overcrowded, and forget about getting a proper workout during peak hours.
Equipment maintenance is a joke. When machines break, they stay out of service for months. There’s no urgency or care for fixing anything.
And the final straw? Someone decided to turn down the sauna. It barely hits 140°F now — which is not only ineffective for a dry sauna, but it’s causing a buildup of humidity that’s warping the wood inside. It's no longer a dry sauna, but swampy mess.
What used to be a quiet, if mediocre, gym has now become an overcrowded mess. If you’re considering signing up here — don’t

LA Fitness Mayfair, a scathing yet honest review:
I have been going to this gym consistently 4-5x a week for over the past year and to cut to the chase, this is by far and about the most exceedingly mid gym you could go to.
Disgustingly overcrowded after the Xsport acquisition (seriously, its so body to body sometimes I feel more like I'm at a rave than a gym), vast majority of the clientele are disgusting freaks with the most abhorrent gym etiquette I've ever seen, horribly rude front desk staff that can not be bothered to look up from their phones to greet you nor thank you for coming (God forbid you do anything to take the girl with the nose ring away from looking at her phone or having a conversation with another worker, she will give you a terribly condescending look without fail EVERYTIME), and lastly the gym is extremely poorly maintained because when a machine goes out of order, you won't be seeing it available for MONTHS (if you go here you'll remember when the seated cable row and one of the leg extension machines were out of order for at least 3 months each).
The icing on the doodoo cake is that the gym owner will reply to feedback like this and others that they'll take it all into consideration, but lets be so for real, they aren't going to do a thing.
So why do I keep coming here? Convenience and strictly convenience. If you live in the Albany/Jefferson Park area chances are this is the only gym nearby. It's a genuine shame because at a point I really loved coming here to workout and better myself, now it just feels like a chore.
I will say though, a lot of the workers that aren't at the front desk are very kind such as personal trainers being friendly to gymgoers that they aren't even training. That's cool, front desk should take notes.

My original review is downgraded from 5 to 1 star rating. This is my initial version from the past 2 years.
"For years I was trying to find a place to relax after hard work. I live in the area and was immediately aware when this new fitness club opened, as I drive by every day on my way to work. I figured they have a pool I just didn't know what it would feel like. I didn't want to come to the pool that is overcrowded and hopefully no kids.
It's hard to take me out of the house once I get home, I just feel so tired as my job is very physical, all day long on my feet, very active and for sure not the office job. I don't need cardio or any workout lol. But the pool I could use any time. And the sauna. And the jacuzzi oh my!
I applied for the free 3 day pass just to see what it is like, but still wasn't brave to just show up. So it was so helpful that I got a call from them, actually Tony, the manager and he was so helpful, decent, positive and lovely, and encouraged me to even show up. I took the membership as soon as I walked through, without even caring for any promo. The place is great. It's huge, it's on the rooftop, the pool is great, never crowded, the sauna in the woman's bathroom is huge. I got to spend my time alone today after the pool. The place is clean and there's someone in the bathroom to clean it all the time.
I don't want to be mean, but there was a kids daycare corner with kids usual stuff that was officially closed since 2022 and that made me smile. I'm sorry but the reason I have all the aches and was upset all the time, I was a nanny for 10 years, and one thing when I want to relax, no kids!!! Please! NO offense!!! I love them but even their parents didn't want them all the time that's why I was hired on weekends so much!
The place wouldn't be great without people making it so. The management is just so cute and cheerful and they take such good care of you!
I had such a great Saturday afternoon and now I am so excited to come back. It was as crowded as it could be, so many people, but yet, so much space and such a great vibe! I did my groceries on the way and had a great change in my usual routine. It made me energized and to want to come back. Not a single complaint. And I do get very grumpy and sarcastic all the time. Not this time lol
P.S. No matter how many people there's ALWAYS a parking spot. And it's on the rooftop that takes you to the gym. I didn't wear my winter jacket or anything, just walked in and jumped back to my car later."
May 15 2025 MY VISIT TODAY WAS DISHEARTENING
What happened to LA fitness? I wasn't coming for awhile as I was suffering from debilitating nerve pain and couldn't even swim for awhile. I'm only using the pool and paying full membership.
Today I was unpleasantly surprised by the kids screaming, and there was one lane reserved for swimming class, only 2 kids btw.
So they told me not to use it. I am a nanny and the only reason I picked this place is as I don't want to have kids fuss or germs in my free time. BUT that was not the worst part. Other 2 lanes only had 4 elderly people, one of them was swimming face down and was so large I don't think I could pass him by neither he could see me. I tried to use the middle lane and I was so far from other people. Then some elderly lady suggested that I switch to a "free" lane with that one guy who had it for himself and none of them wanted to use it as well. That passive agressive attitude really ruined what was left of my mood so I had to leave within 5 min.
There are 0 wellness experiences and I also need therapeutic swimming, not just elderly!!!! I'm in so much pain!!!
I asked for the swim class schedule so I can come other times, but it's literally most of the afternoons for hours and the only time I can come.
It also didn't seem as clean, the hot tub didn't work.
I always enjoyed the pool and had the best experiences but today it was just so upsetting. I am considering canceling my membership as I am paying for the service that I am not using.
Kids do not belong in such a place, there are so many places for them

So, let’s be fair. First, great equipment - most of the stuff works fine, and they repair broken equipment fairly quickly. Second, very clean facility. Third, nice staff for the most part. Now for the issues that I see brought up here. 1) “Very very busy all the time”/ “way way way too many people”/ “Not enough parking” - GUYS, it is a nice gym in a nice(r) area of the city. It is going to be really busy if you go at peak hours, but it is also just going to have a lot of people in general. Xsport closed, yes, and LA absorbed those members. If you wait to go until after 4 or 5, you can’t be annoyed with others for doing so the same. And as for parking - YOU ARE GOING TO THE GYM! If you are going to complain about having to walk/take a couple flights of stairs before your WORKOUT, just stay home. They don’t charge you for parking so shut up.
2) “I had to wait in line to get into the gym” - when? 5 minutes before they opened? I have never seen a line to get into this gym
3) “workouts take forever” - this one REALLY irritates me. You should have a clear idea of your workout for the day (doing upper body, or legs, or full body, etc) AND YOU NEED TO BE ADAPTABLE. I like the plate loaded incline press. Is it always available? NO! Do I sit there and get annoyed that someone is on the machine I like? NO! I go find another chest workout. OR, if you MUST use a particular machine (or piece of equipment), THEN I ASK POLITELY TO WORK IN. I think that’s something I don’t see enough people do, and people look rattled sometimes when I ask. A set takes 60 seconds or less. The person lifting should (in a nice world) let people - who are obviously waiting - work in, and people need to be less shy about asking to work in. 3) “the sauna blah blah blah” - yeah it isn’t too hot WHEN THEY FIRST TURN IT ON! And remember, this is not a 24 hour facility, so they have to clean the sauna SOMETIME.
TLDR: Gym is packed at peak times, BUT if you go off peak or ask people if you can work in, your workouts shouldn’t take much longer than normal. Plan on parking downstairs (always plenty) and walking up. There are no lines to get in the gym.
MY *ONLY* real annoyance is them not having any policy/enforcing any policy that addresses groups of 4+ teens on one piece of equipment for 30+ minutes. But I usually ask them if I can jump in/how long they have if it is my last exercise, or I just find another similar piece of equipment.

I’ve gotten pretty annoyed lately. I go two times a week at 5a. & the sauna is never hot like it is in the evenings. & a lot of the times they’re cleaning the sauna at 630a. In which I find very inconvenient. Why not clean the moment the gym opens so when we’re done with our workout it’s ready for us to use?
I was in there one time & the cleaning lady turned it off. She then proceeded to put the sign up, while I was in there. & she waited there the whole time until I finally left. I want to be able to have the same experience I do in the evening & shouldn’t have to feel rushed for a service I pay for.

This LA Fitness is the best in chicago! Parking might be tight but it’s always easy to find a spot, even during busy times. And the facility is clean.
My favorite part about going to this LA Fitness is seeing Sofia as a personal trainer. She’s so kind, and extremely knowledgeable about all things fitness. She is flexible on her schedule, but book with her early or you will miss out, as her schedule does fill up quickly. In the past two months of seeing her I’ve already lost fat % and gained muscle mass! She works hard so you can focus on your health and fitness goals. Also when you workout with her, she creates a routine you can use again and again on your own. Making it flawless to go to the gym on your own.

It’s a great addition to the Mayfair area but way too overcrowded. I knew this when I bought the membership and it is hard to find a parking spot upstairs. sometimes I just park by target or walk from home. Really that’s the only thing that keeps me coming it’s in the neighborhood. Luckily my membership will let me go to a different location and I might try to go to one close to where I work to avoid this mess. I hope corporate finds a solution. My additional complaint is why can’t the gym be opened at least by 7:30am on a Saturday some of us want an early workout. One can only hope.

The gym is clean and staff is pleasant and always say hi which gets 5 stars for that but the gym is overcrowded the free weight section is small has the vibe of a get in get out basic workout type of gym but you can’t do that because you’re waiting for a free machine and just doesn’t really offer much, at least for me. Would be nice to see la fitness extended their hours a bit more since they bought out gym membership's of gym goers of a 24/7 gym might help with their gyms being so overcrowded.

There are hardly any machines available now. It used to be good, but now it's crowded at all times, making it very difficult to work out. People hold onto the dumbbells without even using them or fail to put them back in their proper places and staff is noteoing anything about it. Additionally, there isn't enough equipment for the number of people who come here. Parking is also challenging, and the equipment often breaks down, taking a month or more to be repaired. They should re do & rebrand the xports they are closing so people can have decent experience

Thank you to 2 ladies at the front desk. I got there right around 4pm and they both held it together.

here’s an update on my. I gave this place two stars. for almost 2 years now I had been going to this location. It was a dream a clean facility where you had space to actually work out. You had access to all amenities like the hot tub the pool, the sauna, and a clean locker room, more importantly, clean machines and room to actually, get a really good workout in. You also had friendly staff at the door plenty of parking.
Since the gym has merged with xsport, I believe, I am always hesitant to attend and will eventually think about canceling my membership altogether. Upon arrival, there is no parking people drive really crazy and a lot, so please be careful. The culture has changed so much. I have had two items stolen from the busy locker room, And so much hostility throughout the gym, it’s not a very friendly Like it was before. The front desk have changed , they are less welcoming. Think about how Hogwarts got taken over and that one Harry Potter movie that’s basically this gym now
used to feel very comfortable In my gym attire and would get a really good workout in now it is packed with so many people and my last visit. I’m 100% sure a man was taking a picture of me.
Nobody wipes down those machines anymore. I thought I was literally the only one wiping down my machine. It just looks like one big party in there right now. It is definitely gone downhill.
2023:
just joined less than a month ago. I don't see the issues that others are having at this location. Hopefully I don't have to run into any issues either. I do see that there is usually security on patrol in the parking lot at this location. I know the facility is clean and machines are brand new. I have not tried the pool, yet. The jacuzzi could use a little bit of cleaning. The classes I have taken so far zumba and yoga (mornings) were great I felt they were fun and relaxing. Everyone seems decently nice here. *Please don't change my mind about this review!* :-)

Don’t go to this gym. You will never be able to finish your workout. There is little parking, people hogging machines and equipment. Good luck getting any type of decent workout there. This gym is overcapacity and doesn’t have enough equipment for how many people workout. I am pretty sure this many people shouldn’t have been there at the same time. There needs to be more equipment or another location added, so that the foot traffic is balanced. The floors are super slippery you can’t workout without worrying you will hurt yourself. The squatting rack has this slippery wood which god forbid if you slip someone can hurt themselves really bad.
This place is hazard waiting to happen.

The merger between LA Fitness and Xports has created a significant issue. Xports members have seemingly forgotten their original gym and flock to LA Fitness solely for the new machines. However, they represent a completely different demographic. This demographic is more careless and dirtier. This facility has seen a complete shift in the way it maintains cleanliness. This influx is indicative of carelessness and a lack of standards regarding cleanliness. It's crucial that LA Fitness address this disparity and maintain its quality and atmosphere.

Stopped going to this location because it's incredibly overcrowded. I've tried at 9pm, I've tried on Friday/Saturday nights, doesn't matter when - every single time I have to forego large chunks of my workout. I don't mind adjusting my workout but there have been times I've literally just walked out, defeated. The pool only has 3 lanes and is quite popular, so I usually have to skip that too because it's full, which is the whole reason I signed up in the first place.
Do better, LA Fitness.

Big gym. However, it’s always too crowded to use weights or certain equipment, even at “off” times.
The parking lot is a mess. You’ll never find a spot. People double park and park illegally which makes the situation even worse. Management does not enforce parking rules.
Long wait times for any machine. The 20-minute rule on cardio machines when others are waiting is never enforced either.
The classes are great, but they’re offered at really inconvenient times, like 8:30am and 9am on weekdays, and 8am on the weekends. It’d be great if they offered more evening and afternoon classes.

This location used to be great in all aspects. However, since they closed the Xsport location on Elston it is terrible! I have left multiple times because I was not able to find parking, it is way overcrowded. During peak hours you practically have to wait in line to use equipment, this is inconvenient when you are on a schedule and trying to fit in your workout routine as planned.
Another issue is the cleanliness. I have seen staff cleaning in the mornings, but with the amount of people throughout the day it has become common to see wipes on the floors, dirtier floors, bathrooms, and locker rooms.

I came back on the 4th day, and they couldn't refund me any money, but assured me that I wouldn't get charged their annual fee. I have since still gotten charged the annual fee, and they would not refund my money for that either. Highly don't recommend going with this location or any of the surrounding LA Fitness locations, as since they merged with xSport Fitness, they will take all of your money any chance they can.

Agree with one Sal below. I used to go to this gym for 3.5 years and it started great until it went downhill, especially since the merger with XSport. Now (logically) the XS people started coming here and the place is unbearably overcrowded with waiting times from parking to benchces to sauna of 25+ minutes. You’d think the merger makes either of the gyms better? Nope. An easy money grab with apathetic staff. The equipment and facilities unmaintained, locker rooms are dirty and staff is clueless. If you can payup more and go to a better gym please do it.

Working with Sofia, personal trainer, at LA was fun and empowering! I started working with her in June of 2024 - almost 2 years since I had my kid. I hadn’t worked out in years and was nervous about starting again. She got to know me, my goals, and my general worries about my health. If you’re reading this and thinking about opening a gym near this one—do it. Seriously. People will flock to your gym because everyone is beyond fed up with this place.
To top it off, their responses to reviews are a joke. All they ever say is, “Thank you so much for the review!” without actually addressing any of the issues people are raising.

LA dropped the ball on this gym big time. It's always crowded and the rush ends around 9ish which is less than hour before closing. Never any parking and though it's clean now, that's beginning to change. I'm not sure why they closed the Elston location down the street and didn't keep it 24hrs. At peak hours, the place looks like a rave concert, way too crowded for my taste. I guess that's what happens when you eliminate your competition in the area.
Based on that, only i might have to start looking for alternatives.
Overall, the gym is nice - very clean, people are friendly, equipment is good and maintained, and sometimes they'll even give free smoothies trying to make you forget that the place is way too crowded 😄.
My recommendation is to increase the schedule so you'll be able to accommodate some of the new customers and find a way to calculate the foot traffic for each machine. This way, you'll know what gym equipment needs to be added if needed or replaced if it's not used.
Some of the machines, even at peak hours, are not used at all ; they just take space for nothing.
Hope everyone will have a great year!

Always overcrowded since closing Xsport. They need signs up reminding people of proper gym etiquette- i.e. sitting on machines on there phone for more than 5 minutes at a time, re racking weights
And most importantly SAUNA spa etiquette. A woman was VAPING weed IN the sauna while I was sitting next to her. Not only is that unacceptable for a closed public space it's also unsafe having a vape pen in that heat.
It is no longer enjoyable working out here. Unfortunately the options are limited now that the Xsports have closed......

On thanksgiving i went to the gym at around 11.20 am ,not.knowing the gym would close at 12 noon. I assumed the holiday hours would be the same as the prior year. To make it worse the staff in the gym was very rude and kicked me out of the gym right at 12!

This used to be a wonderful fitness facility. With the closing of Xsport, it is now impossible to get a proper workout in because they have oversold the number of memberships for the location. Additionally, there is now broken equipment which is not being properly and quickly repaired. Moreover, you have members who do not put weights back and it is laying all over the place. I wish they would remodel the closed Xsport location to help with the overcrowding situation. They clearly bought Xsport to reduce competition in the market to the detriment of serving their client base properly.

Definitely a downgrade from XSport. Too many people, too many cardio machines. A workout that normally takes me 30-40 minutes took 60 due to having to wait. The Glute Trainer is super uncomfortable, they should move the two from XSport here. The hack squat machines are hella uncomfortable if you're an average sized human as the shoulder pads sit outside on the edge of your shoulders and it hurts. I was even there early than the rush at about 3:20pm and it was already too busy. Swap out half the unused cardio equipment for more weights.
Also don't let them bully you about their terrible mobile app. You can buy a keycard for $10. It's even an XSport key card, the same one they told me to throw away because I had to use their awful mobile app.

The gym was clean also! You can tell the people cleaning the gym take pride in their work and have attention to detail. Making sure the place stays looking great! LA Fitness took over XSport. I saw some regulars from the Elston XSport over here now. Overall a great experience! Will return! I do wish the showers were a touch bigger or had movable shower heads.
