This place has the most unprofessional staff I’ve ever encountered. They were rude, unhelpful, and seemed focused solely on pushing their memberships rather than caring about the customer experience. They made promises they didn’t keep and came across as dishonest.
I was given a three-day guest pass to try the gym while recovering from an injury and wanted time to get comfortable with the equipment. When I arrived on the third day—which was actually only my second visit—they refused to let me in. When I asked for an explanation, they ignored me and behaved in a hostile, intimidating manner.
Overall, this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a fitness club.

The customer service at this location was very unprofessional.
Manager Camron was rude and impolite.
he was not even wearing a name badge or proper clothing--he was in a white undershirt like just got up bed.
As a NY Signature Member, I was surprised he didn't even recognize my membership type and he did not know anything about customer service.
He was confused. He stand too close to me that I felt scared and request him to sit behind his chair and talk one to one but he continue standing over me while was laughing with other gym employees.
He also charged my credit card later when I checked my bank without my permission and this is considered theft and unauthorized use.
He approached me impolitely as soon as I scanned in my card to take my yoga class without any reason - he seemed confused and irritated, and kept talking to others while I was asking him question - I request to review my contract and he was clueless and refused. He didn’t even know how to access to computer to looked at my contract while he charged my card and never asked me.
Later, I discovered he charged my card without permission.
Another clerk, Xavier, joined in, he claimed he is manager while his name is not in list of managements . Both of them were laughing and behaving unprofessionally, as if they were hanging out, not working.
They also charged my card without my permission that I ended up report them to my bank and also report to higher customer care center within LA fitness . this was wasted my time and ruined my Friday morning before my yoga class.
I got my money back and an apology but still it was a horrible experience interacted with such a disaster in This LA fitness east loop Chicago.
I've visited other locations around Chicago and NY with great experiences as a 10 years member , but this one location with Cameron and Xavier was terrible--I don't recommend it.

Provides no towels, even paper towels in the locker rooms, so you have folks using the sauna and no guarantee they are using clean towels or showering before. First two workout bikes I sat down at were broken, but had no sign uncidating they were broken. And the the basketballs they provide would be embarrassing even for an elementary school playground much less a "premier" gym. Hope you have all your own supplies if you choose to use this dumpster of a gym. Also basketball court isn't open until 9:30, despite the pool being open way earlier, and the cafe isn't open in the morning either. Might as well work out at a park.

It’s time to bring the back rollers back out. Denying gym goers use of them is a lazy solution to a problem, if people are leaving them out, put up signs asking them to put them in a dedicated area.
The back roller was an integral part of my daily routine, now I will be switching to a different location.

I'm a member and I still hate this place. I almost quit a week after joining because the "customer service" is infuriating. Only reason I'm a member is because it's literally 3 minutes walking distance from my place. They care more about new, nonexistent customers than you, as soon as you sign that membership.
They have a misleading "VIP list" that you can add friends/family to. It seems like a guest pass list or something, but all it is is an excuse to pester them into joining. I asked for my friends' phone numbers to be removed after foolishly giving it to them, afraid of exactly what happened. I explicitly told them not to call. They lied through their teeth that they wouldn't, and called them the next day.
Also tried to get a guest pass for my friend so he could tryout the gym to see if he wanted to join, and the sales rep made up some bullshit excuse that he needed an in-state ID for the complementary guest pass, even though online it says you need just a valid ID. Only other option was to buy a $20 day pass. As if.
Their interpretation of "trying out the gym" is "commit and buy 2 months of membership + initiation fees and cancel within 3 days if you don't like it." I laughed in her face and we went to workout at FCC for the day even though I'm a member here.

The lights turned off 10 minutes before the gym closed in the locker room and we couldnt see our stuff to finish packing. The young guy at the front said the lights are automatic and its "the policy" to be out of the gym 10 minutes before it closes, which I couldn't find such a policy in the terms and the site says it closes at 9p. They need to train managers to be reasonable when a member has an issue with the lights being turned off when I left at 855p. I wasnt even late getting out but this kid apparently thought he could just make up policies instead of being respectful.

Got a 3 day pass from the sales team, went in & they said I can’t use it because I don’t have an Illinois ID, after I explicitly made sure that was okay with the rep prior. Shooting themselves in the foot!

Several nice staff members who always make me feel welcome. Good variety of equipment. BUT please extend the hours. My understanding is the COVID scam reduced them. Men's room could also be larger and cleaner. Great location (unless you drive there, of course!)

Staff is super friendly and while it's busy, it's not packed. There are always plenty of machines open and nothing I've seen has been broken or out-of-order (besides the elevator - but that was getting fixed tomorrow): overall the main floor is very clean and smells fine. Great space to workout.
The downstairs changing rooms are near, orderly & will lit, but sometimes have a little bit of an odor. The lockers are plentiful and spacious! Plenty of mirrors, a scale, outlets for a hair dryer or phone!
I haven't tried the pool yet, but it looks pristine but is usually occupied - it only has 3 lanes. I haven't worked up the courage to use the jacuzzi yet but I LOVE the sauna. It's a little small but it's also not unbearably hot. Showers are very clean and there are about a dozen, so usually no issue finding an open shower. They're always stocked with shampoo, conditioner, & body wash.
There are free phone locks on the main floor next to the smoothy counter - which is run by a eally nice guy! Buy one of his smoothies - you won't regret it (post workout)! There are also vending machines with semi healthy choices and an assortment of drinks. Water fountains are everywhere along with hand sanitizer and wipes.
One of my few concerns is that I've seen people smoking in the stairwell leading to the 2nd floor - I try not to take the elevators and saw some randos rolling blunts in the stairwell on my way out of the gym. But I'm not sure if that's a part of the gym proper. I have seen that there are cameras once you're inside the gym proper, overseen my the front desk, so I'm sure those randos were just an outlier.
Lastly, have I mentioned the staff are SUPER nice: Crystal, Brent, Cam(?), Xavier, and shout out to my personal trainer, Bert! Y'all are KILLING it!!!

Gym is awesome been going here on and off since around 2009 very nice staff. The juice bar has re opened and its a very friendly environment great Smoothies and Juice nice prices their still building the menu but definitely worth the stop by for juice smoothie or a great pre workout

This is one of the better LA Fitness locations in Chicago. It's noticeably cleaner than the average gym and the staff is friendly and helpful. The equipment is surprisingly high quality, and you can usually find it available. The gym is less crowded than expected, and the pool is a great added bonus. The only minor inconvenience is the journey to the locker room, which requires navigating a number of stairs.

This is a terrible gym. The have a pool and a hot tub but they don't provide towels which is asinine. No towels, no hairdryers, no locks. The elevator is always broken as are many of the machines. This is gym is probably fine if you already live within a block but otherwise it is garbage.

The gym is always closing the locker rooms due to plumbing issues, making it an inconvenience for everyone to use 1 bathroom upstairs, if it's not the elevator which has been closed for more than the majority of the summer, it's the sewer backing up through the floors, or the locker rooms ceilings falling in from a leak to the roaches they have crawling through there.... It's always something w this gym, it shouldn't be a sports gym, if you need to complete repairs just close the gym until it's restored instead of inconveniencing people who don't live downtown,but works down there and goes to work after the gym, but can't workout bc they need to shower and can not due to ongoing issues they're to cheap to cover or don't have the money to cover it.

I’ve been going to the LA Fitness in downtown Chicago for a while now, and the lack of communication around facility closures is incredibly frustrating. There have been multiple instances where major amenities were unavailable; like no hot water in the showers a couple of months ago, and today the locker rooms were completely closed due to plumbing issues.
I rely on the locker rooms to get ready for work after my morning workout, and without them, I simply can't use the gym. The upstairs bathroom is not a suitable alternative as it lacks privacy and isn’t designed for changing.
What’s most disappointing is that members aren't notified of these issues ahead of time. A quick email or app notification would go a long way in helping us avoid wasted trips. For the amount we pay, better communication is the bare minimum.
This needs to be addressed.

All the equipment is old, rusty, and barely functional. The floors are dirty and trash is littered over the floor. The free weights are not in their place. They charge you so much money every month of this level of service? This is the standards of a signature club? Absolutely disgusting and abhorrent. LA fitness is a slowly eroding company. Buying xSport will not save you from customers leaving because of the trash service they get for that price. Many other gyms are giving better service than what you have to offer in many ways.

L.A. Fitness on Randolph is an excellent gym. It’s a massive facility equipped with exercise equipment that you’ve only dreamed of. They also maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene. The elevator works well, It seldom goes down. My one complaint is the dingy locker room. It really needs a make over, however it is kept very clean. Trey the new manager aka P.T. brings great energy to the place. His stellar reputation and talent puts L.A. Fitness on Randolph to be the front runner as the best gym in Chicago.

This club has been going downhill for years now. I only come here for the swimming, and yesterday without warning there is this silly ‘aqua class” taking up an entire lane of the pool, forcing further crowding of already-jammed lap lanes. Nowhere is there a posting about this so it comes as a complete (very unpleasant) surprise. No mention of this anywhere in the club or on the site. (Also, and I have no idea what this is but at the end of the pool there are 2 what look like “tents”)-again, I have no idea what these are for but maybe it is somehow connected to these swimming classes that take up an entire lane…I actually saw a family in the pool with a little baby(?!) how is this allowed, this is supposed to be a serious lap pool, that’s why people come here) What compounds the problem is that since LA Fitness bought out X Sport and shut down the South Loop location and dispatched all of those former members to this club, it is increasingly tough to get a lap lane here as it is. I called today and the woman that answered the phone had to put me on hold to find out anything about the swimming classes (no one is on the same page here) and when she came back to the phone she told me the classes are THREE DAYS PER WEEK from 3 pm till close (??!!) You’ve GOT to be kidding. I refuse to keep coming here and attempt to work around these senseless obstacles.

Oh, BTW they took out all the paper towel holders. I thought they did that in order to put in hand dryers, but no. NO paper towels at all OR hand dryers. Just a blank wall where the paper towel holder used to be. I kid you not. Make sure you stuff your pockets with napkins; otherwise, you will not have anything to wipe your hands with. AND, to add insult to injury, they charge EXTRA, calling this a “signature” club. What a joke. And an insult to all members.
Not to mention the frequent sudden closings of the showers, spa and pool – happens frequently without warning.
Elevators didn’t work, literally, for months upon months if not years.
These guys don’t deserve to be in a prime location like this. Degrades the entire area. But, WHY would LA Fitness buy out these clubs only to close them down, consolidate and then let them deteriorate?? It is SHAMEFUL; I’d love to fire these guys but it seems that the only better alternative would perhaps be FFC Union Station for swimming, except that that the cost is way too prohibitive unless you go there every day.
Please, guys, lose these senseless ‘aqua” classes, open up all lanes of the pool again, install paper towel holders or hand dryers, keep the floors cleaner, fix the issues that cause repeated closings of the pool, spa and showers, replace the elevators and start presenting this club in a way that would be more representative of the prime surrounding area. And reopen the south loop location in order to drain off this horrible overcrowding that you created by closing it down in the first place.

It's ok, they keep switching managers, some spoke of Emily, in a previous post, she and another person after her have left, someone describe some employees as unapproachable, i believe the new manager there is exactly that kind of person, they used to close at 11pm weekdays now it's 9pm.

The service provided by the college student employee was poor. I was not treated well and experienced rude behavior when I inquired about a tour of the gym. I wanted to get a membership, but the employee was disrespectful throughout the process. When I asked to see the sauna room, he seemed frustrated. When he asked if I would be getting the membership today, I felt that with this kind of service, I do not want to proceed with a membership at this location. The customer service was unacceptable.

Tyler the manager is very nonchalant and he and one of his staff members( the African American lady that sits at the front desk) did not properly address my concern in reference to why they do not answer the phone. I called several times before arriving. Tyler and her basically blew me off after the lady gave me a lame excuse that they were all busy and couldn’t pick up the phone. I even called the phone line as I was at the physical location and did not hear any phone ring tone. I called the corporate number and the female representative informed me that something is wrong with the phone, some type of microsoft error. Once again, she never took accountability or informed me that she would be addressing the phone issue but informed me that she will speak to Tyler 😩. In short, these two staff members customers service skills are horrible.This is my experience that occurred at the 55 E Randolph location on 5/22/25.

Huge gym. Genuinely massive. Was there at 6am and bought a day pass. Don’t bother with the free pass thing on their website if you want to go early. Requires a sales person bring you on a tour and they don’t start until 9am.
Bring a towel. Some of the bikes are a bit old but this place is well equipped and in good nick.

Had a terrible experience at this LA Fitness with the Manager Callie while trying to use a guest pass. She was rude from the start, greeting me with “What?” instead of a proper welcome. When I explained my situation, she was dismissive and unhelpful. After looking up my number, she immediately refused the pass and told me to leave.
I visit Chicago often and was considering a membership, but this interaction felt more like an argument than customer service. Her attitude made it clear I wasn’t welcome. Worst experience I’ve had with a gym staff member.

-Parking is at 5 S colombus drive (enter on left side where it says millenium side) 5 minute walk to the Fitness Center.
-Do not lose parking ticket. You need a validation sticker from LA fitness reception. (Although I lost my parking ticket, I scanned my validation and chose lost ticket at the exit and it worked)
-parking validation $5 a day (for 3 hours) or $10 a month (for 3 hours everyday). So if you are a regular monthly pass is a good idea.
-Pool and Jakuzzi closed 30 minutes before the location closing time.
-there are body wash, shampoo and conditioner at the bathrooms.

The only reason I visited this one on a regular basis is because South Loop is ALWAYS CROWDED
I have given this place a chance and it is OVERDUE. If a person has Medicare, you will find almost anybody in this gym. Some women that come into the locker room really made me feel uncomfortable. I found roaches on the toilet seat in the bathroom. The elevator is always broken. Walking up stairs here is a workout and can be a pain
Randolph location is always under construction. Hot tub is not warm at all, very dirty. Entrance elevator smells like urine. Bring your own towels btw.

Love this gym. It has everything. Huge space, plenty of equipment so doesn’t feel crowded. Lots of natural light and the train passing by the windows. The staff are super chill and the type of people who come have good etiquette.

The manager "Tyler" has accused me multiple times (unfounded) of going thru lockers that aren't mine. The first time I explained that I had two lockers. The second time he approached me with this I was already leaving the gym and sitting in the lobby area. While in the seated area the Operations manager "Tyler" approached me an accused me again. At that point I asked to face my accuser. I wanted to know whom was aledging that I had gone into lockers that weren't my own. Tyler refused to let me face the accuser. I tried to go above him in hierchy at the facility, understanding that I myself am a member and that I had not gone into any lockers that were not mine. The demographic at this location is a melting pot of not only cultures and races but of sexual orientation. The particular row where I have my locker seems to have many individuals of the homosexual variety. The first time I was accused I saw a man leave his locker unattended acting as if he had forgotten to lock his locker. I then saw the attendant "Tyler" lingering in the hall of the lockeroom. I pointed out to him (Tyler) that the man was walking around strangely and had not correctly placed a lock on his locker. He nodded in a strange way and it was at that point that I realized that they were watching me as if I was going to attempt to go thru his locker. I paid that incident little to no mind and thought as most would "he's just doing his job", but once he approached me a second time, as if I was a guilty party, I then became irate. I have notified upper management and I am currently awaiting a response. I can tell you from first hand experience that he is however aware of a member who has been in not one but two physical altercations that have led to blows being thrown and have yet to remove or reprimand said member. Eventhough I do not think that this matter is racially charged I would not 100 percent rule it out. I also would not rule out the fact that because I do not disrobe in front of some of the members who are more openly apart of the LGBTQ community that may be an issue as well. Let this as well as the report that I have made to operations serve as my complaint against "Tyler" and LA fitness. If I am falsely accused again I will seek damages for being treated unfairly and being targeted because of my orientation and/ or skin color. I would like to use the facilities in peace like everyone else, after all I do pay 50 dollars a month for the service. Thankyou.

This gym has a good selection of equipment, but no other amenities. You can tell it was nicer once. There are remnants of towel service and a juice bar. The worst thing is the plumbing in the locker room has issues every week or two. You show up in the morning planning on taking a shower after your workout, and it is completely closed off. They don't post anything to give you a warning. There is also an elevator to the locker room (in the basement) that has been broken down as long as I have been going here. It's fine if you are reasonably fit, but if you can't do a lot of stairs you won't be able to get to the lockers or pool anyway.
Update: On 1/27/2025 the gym was entirely closed for maintenance issues. No prior notice was given. Commuters were showing up at the door at 5 am with no place to go. This gym is really garbage. Go somewhere else if you can.

Aurora in the front is a top notch human being. It’s my first time here, I’m from out of state and just here for the day and she made my experience amazing. I am here with my husband who is a gym fanatic however, i’m a bigger girl, she did my entrance bmi but covered the results with paper as not to mentally stress me on my goals and during my tour which consisted of 5 insane flights of stairs down to the lower level she walked me around to the elevators to come back up. She’s needs a raise…. Top customer service. Great experience!

I work down the street, came into the gym and had a work issue come up. My laptop was dying and I needed to stay on the line with support, Eramio at the front desk was awesome and gave me access to outlets and a chair to finish what I had to do before getting back to my workout. It is common to often see the out of Service sign everywhere. When it’s not the equipment, it’s the shower or no hot water; or the pool, or machines , the locker room is also out of service. It is impossible to work out while carrying your winter coat around the gym.

I had the worst experience with the sales team at this facility. I was offered a 3-day free pass to evaluate the class quality. However, upon first arrival, the Sales Team General Manager, Syed, denied me access, claiming another team had not completed the process to grant it. In reality, there was no other team to verify this; it was simply his own unethical and manipulative strategy to pressure customers. Instead, I was told I had to pay $20 for entry. Essentially, they refused to honor the free pass unless I paid the fee.
This reflects not only a poor and deceptive sales approach but also raises serious concerns about the facility's reliability in providing member services. If potential customers are treated this way, I can only imagine the level of service after joining. This experience is more like a scam than a legitimate business.

The facility is nice and they have a lot of equipment but the manager is SO PUSHY. You're pushed to do the fitness assessment even if you don't want to, then they push you to sign up for personal training, then they start blowing up your phone like an annoying ex. Even more annoying when they're giving you conflicting and wrong information to try to get you to give in to these promotions. The "normal" employees are fine though and really helpful, I understand it's probably their manager pushing them to be endlessly annoying.

Broke down Palace, at first glance this Signature club seems like a regular gym until you work out. it is in decline. Victim of the co-vid pandemic? The broken elevator, dirty equipment, sketchy sanitary conditions? I’m a bit weary when I go because of the expensive items stolen from my locker. Recently to work out I spotted at the entrance this guy with a huge backpack. Walking up the stairs I turned around, he was looking at me kinda weird. When I topped the stairs he had taken the one functional elevator up. I meandered to the locker room. He was there with that backpack. The locker room was kinda busy but quickly emptied out. I thought I would sit for a bit and check on my phone. I often stall when it’s time for me to actually work out. He seemed confused, you would think he would ready to work out. He then proceeds to empty out his entire backpack filling the entire bench. Not wanting to appear nosey I spotted him put every thing back in his backpack all in about 30 minutes. He appeared unhoused which broke my heart, perhaps LA Fitness allowed those folks to clean up and bathe, I was told that was not the case. My only other thought he was scoping out the joint and I threw off his plans. Days later I went to open my locker secured with a three number combination lock, it does not look sturdy. It was jammed, would not open. Taking a further look you could see it was tampered with. Metal on metal dents. The locker room reminds me of the YMCA, beware of the Signature sauna, it smells sour. After all this I think I will stick it out. Overall the place has good energy, if you’re careful with your belongings. I usually don’t take anything of value. The employees are super helpful for the most part and the price is right. It feels good to support a place that is obviously trying to get back on its feet.

Entered the gym during their promotion of a free week trial. Went for one day to train, and then they said I am limited with one visit only, not a week. Was very disappointed and have not tried many of the equipment, sauna, and pool. In addition, they were pushy with purchasing a personal trainer, promotional enrollment, and membershipoptions, which does not worth the price. The equipment is old and sometimes too small or too large, so I could not adjust it for my average height of 5'6". The staff does not feel reliable and professional. Would better choose Planet Fitness with their up-to-date equipment and professionalism.

The more times goes on the worst it gets. when i see someone get a tour of the place i want to blink twice to signal to run. Service continues to be inconsistence. charges go up and less and less amenities. You have to clean your nose? or dry your hands? bring your own napkins, towel, soap, water. I'm surprised they haven't taken the toilet paper away or charge per square. Staff is cool, most of them. You can just walk in, they are on their phone to tied up with candy crush to green or notice if you scan or not. that explains the robberies in the locker room. Bring a huge lock. I would leave....again if had a more convenient option unfortunately Its broken me down that this is just a warning.
They only respond to positive feedback. I keep getting calls to join gym again, and Im already a member. Something is always breaking. This location really needs to read the bad reviews and fix it.

Kevan was absolutely terrible, I have had LA fitness for 5 years plus and had never had an issue bringing any guest with the 7 days pass. He not only told me it was an additional $20 dollars for me to bring a guest . But wanted to force sell a membership to my guest. Definitely terrible customer service and abrasive personality. The staff needs better training and respect for the customer.

Although the staff are friendly and attentive, I’m extremely dissatisfied with the lack of air conditioning. Also, the elevators haven’t been working for 6 months. Sad to say but if they don’t get it together, people are not going to enroll or renew their memberships. It would also help if you would have more classes available throughout the day. Many of your members attend this gym between the hours of 11 and 2 PM. I would love to see a fitness class around that time! Just some food for thought.

Gym is great for the value but the gym is not very organized. It is so hard to find the dumbbells that you need in this gym. They are just scattered all throughout the gym. And the dumbbell racks aren’t even organized well either . Good price for a gym but def frustrating. The elevator is also broken a lot of the time.

My friends and I (a group of 5) were visiting Chicago and wanted to find a gym to workout at within the city, that we could go to for the duration of our stay. When we arrived at the gym we were kindly greeted by Emily Coreas. She helped us all sign up for day passes with ease and gave my group a pass under one collective fee. Emily was very polite, professional and presentable so I highly recommend her to new guests. The gym timings are unsuitable for working people. It closes too soon. Lift to the changing room hasn’t been working for over a year now.
It’s a good gym for non-working people but for someone whose coming home in the evening from work would want the peace of mind to freshen up and get ready for gym without the stress of not being able to complete their workout.

Emily is so sweet and kind to me everytime i come in to the gym. She always speaks to me and ask me how i'm doing. She also i might add is very professional, charming and personable. I've had bad days before and she has cheered me up and put a smile on my face even on my worst days she is the best. Worst gym ive been to. First off the day pass isnt free, its actually $20. This is important to put here because they dont actually advertize this, they want you to fond out after a sales rep takes 45 minutes out of your day to put all your info into their system.
Second is that the equipment there is F tier. Barely better than a planet fitness, and only because they have a small section for free weights. They have one single power rack and a set of dumbbells.
They have a bar at the entrance thats loaded with over 1000lb which is clearly there to intimidate you, or to givw you some sort of goal, but know that its an unachievable feat for anyone that isnt 6ft4 and built like a monster truck.
Their benches are all slippery to maximize chances of slipping off while you hold weights, and the equipment isnt any better than a hotel gym.
Dont waste your time or your money here, its not worth it. Buy a protein shake instead.

Awful gym and very shady billing practices. Signed up for a 3 day free pass to check out the gym. Made me take a 30 minute tour and take all of my ID info before telling me that to work out they need $20 up front. Tried telling me for liability issues they needed compensation for a work out and it had to be at least $20. Complete nonsense, and felt coerced, any honest gym would have day pass fees presented up front not after wasting an hour of someone’s time.
If you read this and give this gym your payment info, best of luck to you.

I went here for ~2 years
Gym is good in terms of equipments availability and value for money.
However, as other reviews pointed it indeed has terrible cancellation policy and it’s made far worse by the fact that they don’t allow cancellation over phone or email even when I told them I can’t visit offline due to some issue I had at that time (this is despite the fact that they are happy to have you sign up and have your money instantaneously online). Really make it seem like they are purposely making it non trivial to cancel
That whole friction in cancellation ended up delaying my cancellation two more months that I would have liked to.
Other issue:
They had a broken elevator for months (they kept saying it will be fixed within next two weeks for 6 months)
Gym was often under equipped in wet wipes and cleaning spray (lot of times entire gym would run out of it not just couple points)

The gym is quite big even though it doesn't look it from the outside.
There is a pool, jacuzzi, dry sauna, cardio, personal training area, basketball court, dance studio, lounge with desk to work, free weights and more. Literally everything.
Lots of university of Chicago student athletes train here.
It's a bit of maze to get to but you can enter from pedway or the street.

I just joined this gym and the people are pretty nice and friendly overall. The facilities are okay (the stationary bikes need updated - nowhere to set your phone) but to call this “signature” seems pretty disingenuous.
The thing that gives the 3 stars is
1) it stinks. There is a low level odor at all times. It seems clean enough but it stinks.
2) there are no towels or sanitizer anywhere. There are some really cheap kind of one off things around but it’s inadequate and kinda gross.
3) it’s always incredibly warm inside. Like 5-10 degrees above comfortable. Probably doesn’t help the odor.
The other thing is that nobody reracks their weights. It makes it really hard to tell who’s using what and it’s super disrespectful. LA Fitness can’t really change this as easily as the other stuff but it’s super annoying.
It’s good for the price and the easy of access downtown but, after about a month, I’m not certain my buildings gym (as limited as it is) isn’t a better option.

Member of the gym since April: Overall, I enjoyed the facilities / staff was nice. KVON, their sales manager overseeing their PT program, LIED at each stage of my membership however. I was forced to talk to corporate to get straight answers on exit out of contract.
Please do not consider personal training at this club. There is no grace period. If there is one, they’ll make sure to tell you when the period is done.

Been to a lot of LA Fitness clubs around the US. This one is definitely on the bottom half of clubs I've visited. Weird layout, shortened hours on the weekends (closing at 5), not a lot of benches for free weights, and to top it all off its a "signature club" so you have to pay more to even use it.

So, I usually go to the LA in the South Loop but wanted to try out this Signature Club (I'm a multi-club member). I took the elevator up to the second floor and when I got off, I immediately was overtaken by the smell of this place. It just smelled terrible. Musty, mildewy and old. On the plus side - the front desk girl was nice and this location does have a ton of machines and "looks" clean overall. Unfortunately, I won't be going back to this location due to the strong odor.

Also It is quite pricey(75-80something for the first month) . It was a nice place tbh but the pushiness turned me off. Also the non functioning elevator and no towels weren’t fun .

I recently Re-joined at LA Fitness really only because of a wonderful customer service provided by Emily, the Sales Manager, at this location!! (Thank you, Emily!) She addressed all my questions thoroughly and explained how the multi-club membership works. Gym market is so competitive nowadays, and what makes the difference is the people!! This location offers basketball court, swimming pool, and sauna. I love the swimming pool in the morning & evening hours. Highly recommend joinning the LAF & coming to gym location👌🏼 Parking is available for 3 hrs too!!

I’ve been to several locations. This one is probably my least favorite. Front desk staff could be a little better but not bad. SO MANY MISSING DUMBBELLS. Emily was great, she really helped my experience coming to Chicago for the first time and having to find a gym nearby. This property was very nice and not too packed while working out, would come again.
