This gym requires Management attention and investment. From all SPA services available only one hydro massage bed and some tanning. Fitness pod is broken, hydration pod is broken, second hydro massage bed is broken, infrared sauna is just warm and programs don’t work. Hot tub jets mostly don’t work. Sauna is not hot. They also need some communication device with reception to have on the second floor. 80% of time I have a hydro massage I have to come back to reception because or room is already taken, or they forgot to push start, or bed doesn’t work, or they have no keys from the room. At least with phone on second floor it will be possible to call to the reception and solve some issues instead of going up and down. Some stuff is not very friendly and some goes above and beyond. The gym looks very tired and worn out. However love my group Zumba classes. This is only the reason I continue to come here

Decent location. Setup is a bit smaller and different from lakeview but plenty of machines, basketball court, pool, and other amenities. Just some repairs and maintenance are needed. Makes me wonder where our biannual fee goes to? More diverse people here as well. Staff here are friendlier in my opinion.

I came here looking for a membership and it was cool customer service I originally wanted the basic workout plan never wanted a personal trainer in the first place and was insisted on getting one and spent $200 on a down payment never used it but only been to one session because of my busy schedule tried to get a refund after three days and it was only 6 days since I got my membership Parking is horrible you have to go up a ramp that’s very steep and on top of that only have 2 hours to park there like this whole experience was very inconvenient best to have your own gym at home save you the time and the money. I should’ve read these reviews before i thought about having a membership.

I’ve been going here for a year now, sure there are good to decent machines but whenever they break you gotta wait a month for it to he fixed. The gym is almost always crowded no matter what time of day it is, and I rarely get a good workout in since there are not enough machines, and too much people. I brought my 65 year old mom to the xsports this morning on 8th and state in Chicago. When I got there, I was told that my mom had to be a member in order to swim and in so many words - no guess passes. Finally, I told them I would speak with them further about the membership after our swim and workout. The manager agreed.
My mom wasn’t sure if she wanted a membership or not- she just wanted to swim. I even offered money for her to swim but a membership was insisted. I looked on their website and saw a seven day guess pass.... what the? I bought a membership! I was also charged extra for parking because my time was over two hours of being there....

So I recently moved to the city and need to find a new gym. Despite the low review I still want to give it a go so I signed up for the 7 day free pass. When I got to the gym, instead of having a chance to see the actual gym and try it out, the sales rep sat me down in a chair and start giving me a series of body assessment and ask my goal for the gym (while I just want to try it out to see if I want to sign up for the membership!)

The best part is, after the sales rep kept going for another 20 mins I stopped him and say I just want to try it out and see if I actually like it, and then he told me the free pass is only for ppl with Illinois ID (mind you I just moved from out of state) and they could’ve told me right when I gave them my ID the minute I walked in. The worst 20 mins wasted in my life. Combined with other comments ppl left, be aware before you sign up for the membership right away!

Friendly front desk staff, but too small of a facility. Locker room and bathroom (men’s) smell of urine and are dirty everyday I’m here (7 days a week). And this is the worst XSport when it comes to equipment hoarding and replacing weights. Best of luck finding the dumbbells you want to use. Xsport used to be one of the best gyms! It’s giving planet fitness nowadays! I’d actually prefer planet fitness for the prices and similar resources. No towel service not even for premium membership or people that use the spa. The spa equipment I had to figure out on my own because nobody cared to explain how it worked to me, also the equipment was partially working, I couldn’t use the Bluetooth speaker or the infrared lights for my sauna experience.

I’m telling you guys do not sign up for this gym. I just filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because of how bush league they’ve dealt with me with my billing. Many times now I’ve had to inquire about being charged while putting my account on hold due to traveling. They basically try to acquiesce you with credits which can be applied to subsequent months but I STILL get billed incorrectly when the credit should have been applied. Best case scenario they are incompetent. Worst case scenario they know what they’re doing and are trying to exploit technicalities. It’s exhausting. They owe me about $150 in value. There are plenty of other gyms in the area and quite frankly you as a consumer deserve to be treated well. I’m easy to please and accommodating. Mistakes happen. I’ve given them chance after chance to try to fix this. I don’t think I’ve ever been so frustrated with a business. This might be my first 1 star review.

Just rejoined XSport after a 15 year hiatus. Not too much has changed but this specific gym is in horrible shape. It smells, elevator is out, equipment is dated and not functioning well. The water rower has no water. Things like that all over the place. There are cobwebs on the decorative chandelier going up and down like a Halloween decoration lol. I don’t know what they are doing with this location but investment ended long ago.

This location was phenomenon of arbitrary bill charging issued. Xsport charged me two transactions under $10 without my permission in my first month membership. Then keep charging me two transactions of annual fee after I cancel my membership. Manager can’t resolve my problem and customer service always on hold.

I hate to leave such a poor review for my ppl but I’m sorry These ppl are scam artists & The workers are freakin creeps! They will do whatever to reach quota….even if it means doing fraud! Check your cards….they are good for double even triple charging and then saying they can’t do anything. Gym is always dirty and the nasty attitudes I get coming in and leaving out are just too much. I go 20 minutes past state st just to go to the xsport on north ave (pipers alley)and when I tell you ….complete difference. Gym is always clean. Been going here for about 6 months now. This gym is always dirty. Equipment is constantly ripped and rarely replaced. Attachments (especially rope) are always missing. Machines out of order for weeks at a time. There are so many TVs in the gym but less than half are turned on and the half that is turned on are just static screams. Locker rooms are horrible. Smells like sewer and BO on the daily. Floors are never sweeped or mop. Water fountain needs a serious update. Never fold and still using the push one instead of a newer bottle sensores version. 2nd floor bathrooms are never clean. I’m here 5 out of 7 days of the week in the afternoons or around midnight and this is always the case.

The place is a mess and overcrowded. Half the equipment is "out of order." The managers and trainers are way, way, wayyy too focused on sales. I signed up online to avoid their hour-long sales pitch, and I still had to sit through it. The general manager kept insisting that it was just "optional, but I told them no like 4 times telling them that I don't need or want the help or to pay a $250 down payment for a once a week training session, and they still kept pushing to get me to buy it. I get that that's how they're making their money, but there are ways to make sales without so explicitly showing that your're trying to take advantage of people.

Im very disappointed that I’m actually have to give this review, coming from a customer service background, the gym customer service experience is just terrible, one day they might say hello , the next time they just let you scan and work out , secondly if you are a keep to your self type of person or a person with disability,this gym is not for you , staff is extremely unprofessional, and even when working out, you have to be mindful not to get in some people’s way, the other issue is the parking lot , there are graffiti everywhere, once you park , elevator seems faulty at times, I pray no one gets stuck in there , sometimes your ticket might not scan , sometimes you will be overcharged by LAZ parking, who is in charge of the parking lot, again if you are a person who likes to keep to themselves, or have any kind of disability, I’m sorry this gym will definitely discriminate against you

I signed up with this thieves club. On my first visit someone stole my credit cards from my wallet. I locked my locker with master lock that doesn’t require the key, and still someone managed to unlock it and go through my stuff and steal my credit cards ! That thieve made some purchases at Macys and Target. I told xsport people at the front desk about the incident but they just looked at me and said sorry and that’s it. Nobody bothered to write a report just told me go to police that’s it.
I have read complaints people write but still gave a shot to this gym and I was robbed on my first visit on Sundays afternoon. Will never go there and definitely not recommend you to do that.

There’s a young man that works the desk when I’m there at 5am Monday through Thursday. He started maybe within the last 6 Mo - 1 year. His upbeat personality is the sole reason why I am even rating this on google. I sincerely think he is one of the best workers I’ve ever come across. He wishes EVERYBODY a good day and a workout. Good work deserves to be recognized. Pay him more or at least let him know his work isn’t going unnoticed.

As for the gym, you can’t beat free parking but the overall place could be cleaner. The rims in the basketball gym need a serious replacement. We all understand that management doesn’t care about the type of folks that tend to play hoops but not everyone that does is looking to start trouble. Fix the rims and the unbalanced floors. I do recognize the recent fixes - new paint, new turf, cardio machines. Keep improving and getting better. That area needs a gym to be proud of.

I’ve gone to South Loop Xsport on and off over the years and I think it’s great - it’s 24/7, it’s affordable, and it’s just easy to always get a good workout in. I started training with personal trainer Rashad Hatcher a few years ago and he is why I have kept going to this gym after all these years. He is always flexible with my schedule. He tailors my workouts to what I need/want, and he keeps it fun and challenging. He himself is in great shape - which I think is pretty important for personal trainers!

I joined Xsport fitness on Friday June 30th, 2023 canceled my membership by middle of July 2023. I was immediately excited about the opportunity to join a new gym after just moving to Chicago. However, I was quickly disappointed after just a few visits that this is the absolute WORST GYM I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. This place obviously hasn't been cleaned since it has been opened. The machines have a film of grime over all of them. There is trash covering the floor. The entire gym smells like sweat, body odor, and mold. Almost all of the stair machines are broken without a sign on them indicating they don't work so I almost fell off each one every time I tried a new machine. The ellipticals are the same way - pieces of the machine look like they have been ripped off the top and are completely dysfunctional. I tried to express my concerns within my first few weeks of joining and the team couldn't care less, I have never seen anything like it. I literally canceled my membership within 3 weeks because it was unbearable. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE. Doesn't matter that it's the cheapest, it's the worst.

By far the worst xport in the Chicagoland area. Extremely filthy and unsanitary, inattentive staff that do an awful job running and managing facilities, something is always broken or not working at this location. It’s overcrowded and no one puts their weights back and a ton of men and women inappropriately dressed, this is a gym not a nudist colony. This location is a disgrace. I would give it two stars because of the convenience of the location and some staff are friendly… they just show no pride in their work or their gym. As a business owner myself, the main problem with this gym is management. Please avoid this location. The men’s locker room is disgusting. The steam room are ALWAYS broke. Every time I come in, they’re waiting for parts to get it fix. Space is great. Facility is not very clean every time I show up no matter the time there’s stuff all over the floors in the bathroom all over the facility no one is ever cleaning the place.
I guess they have spray bottles and expect us to do the cleaning which is fine. I do it but does everybody it’s not planet fitness see you guys should have some type of cleaning going on. Check the bathrooms every hour or so stop expecting us to do right the world is it right but you guys can clean up fix saunas add air freshener to the bathrooms. It’s thinks it’s a dirty. I’m going to call and find out how to cancel my. Membership if nothing is done this is my third month going up there to see the same thing and have to complain every time. For what you charge monthly come on man you can clean the place it’s just like going to planet only difference is the price. I also go there at six in the morning for a spin class and there’s a little spin class fix your schedule if no one’s gonna show updated.

819 S State St. Location, 60615 is trash, how does the City of Chicago allow so many health and safety violations for many years? Any other business would have been shutdown for repairs but this XSPORT gets a free pass. I encourage anyone who wants to improvement to call 311 and request a building inspection and follow up with your case. As of April 2033 someone is cutting locks and mngmt does not care, also several treadmills don't work, it's dirty, people have gotten sick, but yet the City Inspectors turn a blind eye, why and how?

I just ended my four year membership with the South Loop location after my locker was broken into (see image). Patrons have experienced this type of theft for months, and it has not been addressed by the staff. They have blatantly ignored complaints and concerns. 1.) the parking garage gates are constantly broken 2.) the elevators are always down 3.) there is consistently some type of leak or maintenance in the building 4.) the bathrooms are disgusting and smell terrible 5.) there are never any functioning paper towel dispensers or cleaner in the gym 6.) it is over crowded and not enough machines 7.) all of the equipment is broken 8.) the weights are all over the place and never returned because 9.) the staff is lazy and sit at the front desk eating, talking, etc. never working 10.) poor customer service. It’s cheap and you get what you pay for. I would NOT recommend this gym or franchise to my worst enemy. Zero stars if that was an option!

I went here to see if there have been any improvements to this location. Team member told me I had only 2 options to either buy a day pass for $20 or sign up. Didnt even offer at the very least a tour or walk around of the facility. Cancelled my membership 3 years ago, rightfully so. This location still has the same poor customer service.

Great atmosphere, however the staff is about as useful as a butter knife to a surgeon. Xsport seems to go to the bargain bin of employees , like that one discount aisle in walmart.. like you might get what u barely need but that few dollars you saved will cost you in the long run when you have to buy another piece for said item to work.

Dirty, staff is rude, sauna has been broken for awhile. Ppl doing inappropriate things in the pool. Asked the staff to talk to them. Young kid with an afro said to me, I don't care. This is the worst gym I've ever been to.

I recently joined XSPORT, and I have the Black Premium membership. It allows me to visit any XSPORT throughout the city and suburbs. For the most part every location I visit has been an amazing experience. Sadly, this was the first time I left angry and upset after having a good workout.

To begin, I realize parking is a huge issue in the Chicago. I recently had my car towed. I'm frightened to leave my car in the streets at the parking meters. I personally prefer to not leave my car unattended, unless there's a parking garage. This location has a garage, but it only allows for 2 hours of free parking. I'm in the gym for at least 3.5 hours, and that's me rushing to leave. I was forced to pay to leave, which cemented me never returning to this location.

Secondly, I mainly love gym life for the amenities. Anybody can work out at home with YouTube and get a high quality H.I.T.workout for free. I'm a member Specifically because of the sauna and showers. The water pressure in my home is non existent, and I don't feel thoroughly cleansed without a descent stream. The pressure here was lack luster at best.

They have both steam and dry sauna. I prefer the dry Sauna, because I use the essential oils on a small pan, so I don't damage the heater by pouring liquid in it. For the essential oils to take effect, the heater must be raised to a higher temperature than that is preset. This dry sauna was extremely small and all the heat would leave if the door was open for 1 second. Also there's a huge hole that doesn't allow the heat to collect. It makes absolutely NO SENSE WHATSOEVER why there's a sprinkle system in a room directly designed to be hot. If you can't take the heat, get tf out the sauna.

Lastly, I understand that high traffic locations like this one has probably thousands of people coming on a daily basis. It's a challenge to keep clean, because alot of members have never been properly educated about gym culture and to be courteous. People don't like to put their weights back and wipe down a machine after using it. Also they leave their trash anywhere, just imagine how filthy their home is. Never the less, that is not an excuse to why any gym does not have someone on the clock at all times wiping something down, or putting weights back. The basketball court had trash everywhere and smelled like it hadn't been mopped in years. Also the pool smelled like it wasn't properly maintained and water look merky and filthy. This location is a disappointment to the entire XSPORT corporation. Please do better.

This place used to be the best, now... freeweights never has a matching set, attachment for cables are all missing. Machines are all old. Only update I seen are some wall graphics added like common do something better with our membership money. Literally have a neighborhood gym for 10 dollars a month and it's 100 times better then this xsport.

This place is a disaster, I wouldn’t recommend for anyone. I have so many complaints. One is that I witness a non service dog on turf, Xsport never sanitize turf or any areas in gym. They have construction tools all over the establishment where my hand landed on a screw while working out. The operation manger wouldn’t allow me in because I was 1 day past due and turned me around. I witness a general manager Mustafa argue with an employee on the floor, verbally fired him out loud and lied to police advising he threaten his life. Tried to call corporate and cancel membership only to get hung up on by Debbie another manger. This place steals your money and do not accommodate members. Very unprofessional!!!

I just joined this gym a few weeks ago. So far, I really only come here to run for a few miles. The price for the gym is cheaper than anything else in the neighborhood. I have used the locker room each time and it’s been hit or miss with cleanliness and conditions. Overall my experience so far has been fine. I’ll come back and update my review as I spend more time here and try things out.

The bathroom on the gym floor is constantly dirty. Paper towel is left out by the hand wash counter because the dispenser is broke and never fixed. One of the three bathroom stalled is always broken. Toilet paper runs out quickly and never refilled. The locker rooms bathroom floor is filth with water all over the floor and the lock on the bathroom stalls don’t work.
Gym floor has tons of old/out of date equipment. Some benches are so overused that it’s shaky esp the les press machine back support. It’s always moving so you’re absolutely risking an injury being on it. Ropes are old, weights are always unfindable.

I’ve had a membership here since September and today Feb 11, 2023. I almost injured myself badly with weights while bench pressing. This decline bench press has been damaged since I first enrolled. I told the management about it and some big Caucasian guy with tattoos supposedly the "Operations Manager” acted as if he would resolve the matter but claims he’s new to the establishment. All of the equipment here is either rusted or dis functional. I’m gonna request a cancellation. It’s very unclean, unsanitary, disorderly. If I’d injured myself today I’d definitely file a lawsuit that would end this companies business affairs all together. Forever.

Been here for 7 months, on a weekly basis (very consistent in coming here since I live nearby). I really wish they would clean the womens bathroom upstairs more and provide paper towels and nice scents. They have a locker room, and it is OK. I think they can focus on cleaning those areas more.
However, the weight area is doing better- they've removed ellipticals near the green area so as to allow more space for cross training. I very much approve of this!
The weights are a mess during peak hours and although I do put mine back, not everyone does. Wish that gym culture would change.

Been a member for years and in true top of the year fashion wanted to get back in the groove. I hope there is a missing operations manager or they are hiring a new cleaning crew. Coming to the gym and equipment and spray bottles are broken is not acceptable. I'm going to give it a couple more months to see if it improves with the new volume or I really just need to move on.

I've been going to this gym since 2015, even worked for them at one point, and I must say it's one of the best gyms I've been to. I like how the amenities are separated between stores and the staff is awesome.

I'm also going to be realistic when I say you must be aware that this gym is located in the heart of downtown Chicago so there is a lot of traffic during the day but me being a night owl it works perfectly, they also keep things fairly clean.

I also want to say that if you see any down equipment you can't blame the gym. I see fat too often on a daily basis people using equipment improperly which causes it to break malfunction and people don't realize it's a process of noting the malfunction, making a order for parts and waiting for delivery for repair. But as soon as it gets there it's repaired immediately so be patient y'all 😊.

Facility is old and poorly maintained.
Men's steam room has been down for over a month, several of the showers only have scalding hot water and can't be adjusted, things breakdown regularly with long repair times. Probably time to leave this gym.

Very dirty and smelly, and the ceiling leaks all the time in certain spots. The machines are outdated. They don’t have as many fitness classes as other x sports in Chicago.

Update: 11/2022: ceiling leaks were fixed, and looks like they hired a new cleaning crew🙌🏻 few new fitness classes added

Brandon and jose are the best workers in the gym, always cooperative and smiling, and always help me when I need help, they are the reason why I stay in this place. As for the gym, a lot of the machines don’t have and most of the machine is old, and the members of the gym do not return the weights to their place, this always make me angery

I become more and more disappointed with this gym. At this point, is it a gym or homeless shelter???? Can’t take showers after a swim because the showers literally have mildew in them that is sickening. If onlu lifetime was 24/7 because this gym is a hot mess.

I love this gym, I come here to train and Rehearse. However I train/rehearse for more than 2 hours which is why I HATE the parking time limit in this location. I end up having to re park my car so I can avoid fees that can be resolved by making the limit at least 3 hours. It’s a huge inconvenience which is why I’m rating this location 3 stars.

For the price, it is a decent gym. They have a nice variety of machines and weights & racks.
However, there is a chronic issue with them fixing anything that is broken, whether it is broken mirrors, paper towel dispensers, and especially the elliptical machines. All of the Precore 100i machines need severe overhaul or replacement. Several have mold growing in the crevices from sweat. Additionally, the managers are never upstairs to assess their staff's professionalism (returning weights, inappropriate conversations and language), conditions, or customer behavior (including playing loud music on personal speakers, shirts off, and returning equipment).

The gym is active and full of equipments, they introduce different programs that fits many tastes and is open 24/7 as a convenient training facility. The orientation class was awesome and very informative with Couch Arian. I really recommend the place.
