Gym desperately needs an area to stretch, body weight movements, aerobic drills.Looks like they do but it’s their “training client area”.The staff has been improving the last few months as they got rid of rude workers who rather be on their AirPods than acknowledge you’re there.

dirty and smells bad. i can understand.the smell of a gym. but this 1 i have not seen anybody clean the bathrooms or even sweep the floors. and 1 time when i was parking in the front, there was a bag full of rotten food and a gallon of pee litering around the parking lot. people here need also to be trained in customer service. brought it down to 1 star but its not worth even for 1 star. bathroom still smells very bad last time i came there and repoerted the problem but iam not coming back ever there because that is the dirtiest gym i have ever been to. so far

My first time here. I love the signature clubs. I hate the xsport Becasue it’s the nastiest smelling gym I’ve ever been to.

I like this one a lot as it is very spacious and clean.

As I was on some leg extension machines I checked out the interviews of this place and found it to confirm what I thought!
Very spacious and clean! I loved to read those! And enjoyed thst the owner responded to all of those!

The reason I’m giving a 3 star rating which I actually want to do 2 but I know business…so I’ll be gracious…is Becasue I noticed two main problems.
One is that the complaints were all about customer service. And I can see why… because this generation is poorly trained on customer service. And can be very careless with customers. There is an arrogance and lack of respect. The second and worse problem is that the owner never addressed most of those bad complaints. Only the good ones.
So thst actually is very telling as to why the customer service is poor: because poor leadership reflects on their staff.
And it’s clearly evident in these reviews.

I do strongly suggest if it hasn’t already been done…this group of staff be trained to better handle disgruntled customers.

I will be returning but needed to note that. Because that’ll really affect business in the long run.

Very disappointing!

My experience with this location has been very disappointing. When I signed up, I was told I could cancel within the first month without issue. I was charged $179 with the explanation that it covered the first and last month and that there would be no additional fees. However, only one week later, after using it only for one day, I was charged again for $118.

When I called to address the situation, the individual who identified himself as the manager was rude and dismissive. He eventually directed me to a cancellation page, assuring me there would be no further charges. Despite this, I later discovered charges totaling around ~$300.

During an in-person visit, the staff member I spoke with was unprofessional and disrespectful. He told me this was simply “how the business makes money” and made repeated remarks that I found insulting. He also insisted I should have read the fine print, while shaking my hand multiple times in a way that came across as mocking.

Overall, I do not recommend this location based on the lack of transparency, unexpected charges, and the unprofessional way I was treated. I will be pursuing this further to resolve the issue and recover the money that was wrongly charged.

Cleaning lady needs to stop closing the workout room at 8:30pm to clean. Some members can only come during night hours so it is an inconvenience that I am a paying member and anytime I come at night the room is already closed for the rest of the time that the gym is opened. Today I was in there before 8:30pm with other members and she kicked us out to clean. It shouldn’t be closed during business hours.

I have been a member for over 5 years for personal training and general use. I train three times a week with Rosendo who is fabulous. My previous trainer was good, but saw my age (65+) as a limitation. Rosendo doesn’t. He urges me to push myself in a safe way. He has helped me reverse shoulder pain and weakness I have had for decades. He has helped me improve my balance and leg strength, and strengthen my core. He is encouraging and instructional. He repeatedly reminds me to hold my core and to focus on the muscle(s) I’m working on. Also he reminds me to slow down — not just do the motion. AND he reminds me to rest and hydrate between sets. Something I really need. I am in better physical shape now than when I was in my 40’s. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend him.

A gym that is too insecure. Two months ago while I was training I left my AirPods next to a machine and they stole them when I approached to request cameras they told me that they could not give me the videos of the cameras and the answer was from the staff to buy others... today I put my bag with belongings like my wallet, where I had money, cards and documents the keys to my vehicle my AirPods. Among other things of value and they were stolen I approached the reception I exposed the situation. Which the manager told me we don't have cameras in that area. There is nothing to do he went to sit at his desk he left me standing without any management or explanation I had no support at all I stood up and looked where he was sitting and he only laughed neither a solution nor an email these situations on the part of this gym chain are acceptable ??? Where is the support On the part of the staff, a Spanish-speaking girl. I think she is an advisor. She had more tact and consideration for the situation. I ask if I felt good. He suggested that I call the police and go see my car. It's an unsafe establishment. Be very careful with your things. There are thieves there. Other users told me that the same thing has happened to them and no one responds. @lafitness is that the right treatment with users? I recommend that you do not go to this headquarters generates a lot of distrust.

I started going here in early february, and I've been loving the experience. The personal trainers I've worked with are great at finding out what makes you tick and what gives you the most motivation to work out, and because of that I felt a lot more comfortable going and doing sessions with the personal trainer and then later on my own.

The fitness class instructors are also fantastic, they have Zumba almost every single day of the week and it's been a blast to have so many options to choose from.

I have a gym membership at Planet Fitness wanted to transfer to a new gym. So I looked into LA Fitness seems like a good gym to go to. So I went to LA Fitness in Countryside today to get a gym membership talk to a sales guy he seem pretty nice at first but he kept pushing on me a personal trainer. He told me they got three tiers of trainers one was like 400 and something dollars a month the other one was 300 and something dollars a month and one was $260 a month. I told him I wasn't interested in a trainer I just wanted a membership I do my own workout I have my own routine but he kept on pushing the personal trainer. He told me that I was not working out correctly I was doing it wrong he said I needed a personal trainer to do it right. He also told me he could not let me upstairs in the strength room to work out cuz he said I would hurt myself because I was exercising wrong that I needed a trainer to show me how to do it right. I kept telling him look I just want a gym membership I'm not interested in any trainers but he just kept on pushing. He didn't even give me a tour of the facility didn't get to see any of the equipment or locker room. I finally got fed up and told him to forget it and I walked out. So I went to the LA Fitness in Broadview talked to a Salesman told him right off the bat I am not in any personal trainers I just want a membership and I told him what happened at the countryside facility. He said that he should not have done that and everything was good he helped me get a gym membership now I am a member at LA Fitness.

While the gym is always spotless, the customer service is terrible. I’ve been going to this gym since it was Esporta and I am considering finding another home gym even if I have to travel further. The previous group of employees were amazing! This new group of starting with the front desk staff to the sales agents are not friendly and are unprofessional. You would think you are invisible when you walk in the door.

Terrible Service
I visited LA Fitness located at 5917 LaGrange Rd, Countryside, IL 60525, at the end of December to set up a membership through my insurance. The system wasn’t working, and I wasted 1.5 hours of my time. They kept talking about their “great conditions,” even though the monthly fee was 20% higher compared to the same membership purchased through insurance.

Today, I came back hoping to finally use my already-paid membership, only to be told I needed to pay an additional $130 to have access to my membership. Another wasted visit and what feels like extortion.

I absolutely do not recommend this place!

Very clean and spacious. Never ridiculously packed, which is good. Love the sauna, pool and showers. All the members seem to be respectful of personal space and the staff is great. My days off from work I love spending at least 3 hours here and always leave rejuvenated and feeling great!

Great gym. Super clean and appreciate the cleanliness and proper maintenance of the pools. Cleanest gym so far that I have visited in the local areas. Kudos to the staff for their hard work and extra attention to details. I also appreciate a few (I hi-light a few) of the front desk employees that now acknowledge and greet us when we check in. Update - when the gym manager heard about the situation he made it right and told me he spoke to the sales team and they will be training on all new promotions. Apparently the parent company of the gym is LA Fitness and has been merging several different clubs together and that is why there has been confusion on the sales side. This location is clean, kept tighty, staff is nice. If it is true they are retaining slaes this is a big win

I am again updating my review on this place…. The staff that maintains the facilities are amazing, but they are constantly undermined by the sales team. They have been promoting all across the gym promotion to add family members to your plans. My parents want to start working out, so I went to talk to sales today about following through on the promotion and adding my family members to my plan and they said that wasn’t an option that you had to cancel your plan and start a new plan because I signed up for a solo plan not a family plan and I should’ve signed up for a family plan as a single so that way in the future, I could’ve added people. When I asked what the price difference was between a single membership and a single-family plan membership he said nothing. You just select a different box. if you want that to be your policy great have that be your policy but do not make a sign that says add family member to your plan. - the sales team at this company is either stupid or intentionally misleading. I have enough respect for their basic human intelligence to know they’re not stupid. I will never understand why the management team of such an incredibly well maintained and managed facility would ruin their reputation with trash sales scams like they are running. Yes I will continue to come here but it’s just because they locked me in with an annual fee that they are now trying to get me to cancel halfway through the year and repay an entire other year just because whoever signed me up checked a different box.

First of all this gym facilities and maintenance/front desk staff is AMAZING.

All in all the price is great too!

They would have a 5 star in my book but I felt their sales staff was a little predatory. I called for pricing and they told me on the phone they were running a promotion for $15 for the first month and $29 every month after that and if I canceled before 4 months I would get a cancelation fee. 2 weeks in they charged a $59 “annual fee” and when I talked to their sales manager, she said the sales staffer told me wrong and they wouldn’t honor the promotion I was told on the phone.

I am staying cuz the gym is nice and still at $35 a month it’s a good deal, I just wish they would have been upfront with costs rather than sneaking hidden fees.

Customer service is crap. Just left this location after driving over to use the trial pass. I left my wallet at home because I don't have a lock for the locker room. When I got there some guy asked for my ID to "activate" my pass. Told him I didn't have it on me, got turned away without another word. When I asked if I could at least use the restroom I was refused. Drove over with a welcome email that mentioned nothing about bringing an ID and the staff hardly made an effort to be hospitable or sell me a membership. Guess they don't care about expanding their clientèle.

Run, do not get a membership here! I had to cancel my credit card to stop the monthly billing. I went in 3x, and each time I was assured it was cancelled and it was the last time. despite living about an hour drive away, and I can only come in M-F between 9-5p. When I'm supposed to be at work.. just to cancel a membership bcuz I moved away.

GYM STEALS MONEY!!!
Their employees made me sign up for a new membership even though I had a valid one. They claimed to be unaware of merger while they had a whole merger/acquisition sale going on. I canceled my membership, and this isn’t even complaining of not getting my refund (which I haven’t) I’m still getting charged for a membership I canceled!!!
If you’re wondering how much it cost to me to sign up:
-Old (valid membership): 46.99
-New membership, signed up on Wednesday (wow a deal going on? No sign up fee/forced to sign up) 49.99
-cancel new (forced to signed up for membership, plus more expensive) on Friday.
-Get charged 49.99 again on Saturday
So in total I’ve spent 146.97 In a span on 4 days in this gym because
Either corporate or the managers did not communicate to their employees and they were not aware of merger/acquisition (even though they were having a sale on it) .

Not mad about miscommunication within employees/company. It happens. Im upset that I KEEP GETTING CHARGED AFTER I ALREADY CANCELED THE MEMBERSHIP!!!

Second update: I see “LA FITNESS” signs are back. Hopefully this place turns around for the better. Changing to Esporta was a horrible decision. I’d rather drive 10 more minutes and go to the Westmont location.

Update: it’s gone downhill since it became esporta. I don’t understand how or why. Something is always broken or they close early for some reason.

Hardest part about having a good gym is keeping the bathroom clean, especially the men’s, and not having the sauna smell musty every time you go in. This gym used to have a problem with that in the past but has learned the importance of a great janitor. My guy Solomon makes sure that the men’s bathroom is always stocked up and does a great job of keeping it clean and sanitary. Love the enthusiasm from the front desk team, shout-out to Tiana for always keeping a positive mood! I gave four stars bc last summer I tried canceling my membership and I had to do so with a manager who was only available from 8-5 Monday-Friday. I worked those times so I never cancelled, but I don’t like predator tactics like that. Hopefully that’s changed. Overall very clean and friendly gym

CAUTION don't ever give this company a "card on file. They will do everything they can to hit card monthly. Former members check your card statements you may find your paying for membership you cancelled long ago. Update: now they trying to get my 14 year old son to sign back up using my financial information and we never had a agreement to use my card . I paid cash for a 6 mos membership. Criminal. Giving them card number to "have on file is like signing up for a time share. CAUTION !!

The girls at the front desk need to learn how to do there job, they pick and choose when to actually work. Most of the time you walk in they don’t make sure your checking in or even acknowledge you at all. Then one time I forgot my large coat after a workout and was in a rush. I literally got to my car realized I forgot my jacket and tried to run in and grab it from the lockers and one of the blonde girls actually felt like doing her job for once (probably because there were no other front desk girls to chat with.) she started yelling, aggressively insisting I scan in. I told her I already scanned in and worked out I just forgot my jacket. She told me it does not matter and literally blocked me from getting my jacket until I scanned. Like I said I was in a rush, so this was pretty annoying considering that if she was just paying attention and doing her job in the first place (instead of staring at her phone) she would’ve known I already checked in. So far the front desk people have been an inconvenience instead of anything helpful and I go to this gym for convenience so it really kills it for me. Then there’s the false promise of the gym becoming open 24 hrs. At this point I’m wondering if I can sue for false advertising because 24hr accessibility was a huge selling point for me.

I recently had an unfortunate experience with Esporta Gym that I feel compelled to share, to help others make informed decisions. My journey began with interest in their 3-day pass, prominently advertised on their official website. Eager to try their facilities, I arrived to Esporta, expecting a straightforward process.

However, my initial enthusiasm was quickly dampened by confusing interactions with the staff and management at this particular location. Despite the clear advertisement online, I was informed in no uncertain terms that they no longer offer the 3-day pass, a claim directly contradicted by their own website and the subsequent communications I received after filling out the interest form online.

To my surprise, after this in-person rejection, I received not one, but two phone calls attempting to activate the very 3-day pass I was told didn't exist, further evidenced by an email confirmation of the pass. This stark inconsistency between what is promoted and what is communicated by the staff on the ground is not only frustrating but also strikes me as deceitful.

Businesses, especially those in the health and fitness sector, should prioritize transparency and honesty in their interactions. The disconnect between the gym's online promotions and the on-site staff's assertions is misleading and undermines potential trust in their brand.

I had hoped for a simple and enjoyable start to my fitness journey with Esporta, but instead, I was left navigating a maze of contradictory information and sales tactics. For those considering this gym, I'd advise caution and suggest keeping a record of all communications. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I am compelled to look elsewhere for my fitness needs.

The club has had the spa down for repairs over two weeks. Three days ago I asked how much longer will the spa be down & I was told they’re on the phone taking care of it. I walk in today & the spa is still down. The sauna is constantly taken over by ppl hanging sweaty smelly clothes on the frame of the hot rocks causing an unbearable smell inside the sauna and ppl laying down on the benches of an already limited spaced sauna. Staff needs to be on top of these kinds of things. Ppl pay for the entire gym. DEFINITELY NOT ACCEPTABLE. Poor service.

Every star is for Katie. I've been a member for 20+ years back when this chain was Bally's Total Fitness.

I decided to cancel because, well, it's just TIME. Working out is nice when its fun. The fun wore off for me here after so many changes (taking out the walking/running track was a big one). Several bad customer service experiences I won't go into.

In all of the years of being a member here, under all the different company names, the best customer service experience I had was my cancellation experience with Katie.

Yes, you have to go into the facility to cancel (or write a letter. cn you believe that?). She graciously processed my request in less than 2 minutes, no fuss and with a hearty smile. So thanks again, Katie!

Talk about desperation with this company. Make it as difficult as possible for people to cancel. They did not get the digital memo. LOL

The gym had a lot of potential but unfortunately the layout really hampers my feelings towards it. The lower level is fine with sufficient cardio equipment but upstairs is entirely too cramped with not enough machines that people want to use and the remnants of an indoor track that now serves no purpose. They really should construct a full floor so more machines can be added instead of having a center cut out where you can look down at the first floor. Good luck trying to use the free weights area anytime between 5-8 PM because the space is essentially a crowded elevator at all times. The staff are overall nice and helpful and the locker rooms are kept fairly clean but if you go to work out at peak hours you can expect long waits to use a machine and very little breathing room upstairs.

I used to enjoy coming here when it was under LAFitness. Esporta has really downgraded this gym. There is a lot of teenagers and rude customers coming in. There is a lot of equipment hog here. Multiple members hog machines and gym seems to only give false hopes of extending hours. I don’t recommend anyone to get a membership here.

I went to this location around 7:30am to redeem a promotional guest pass. The location refused to honor the pass, claiming that the pass was only redeemable ‘after 9am’.
The pass did not have any time restrictions advertised on it.
I was advised I could return after 9am to redeem the guest pass, but my work schedule would conflict with that time. So I ended up paying $20 for a day pass. I first tried paying with a large bill but was informed the register had no change. So I had to waste more time counting out small bills to pay with.
The front desk receptionist was nice and respectful during the entire exchange, even when I became noticeably frustrated. And I know these policies are decided by management and not her, so I remained calm. But these ‘bait-and-switch’ policies shouldn’t be employed by any serious business. Shame on management.

In May, I was pushed by sales people questionable tactics to sign up for group personal training, even though I explained that I was under medical treatment and I would not be able to use the service. She promised me I would be able to cancel with no penalty if I bring doctor documentation. I saw when she wrote this as a note in my profile. However, she never mentioned the 3 day cancellation policy. I came in on august 21st to cancel, and the process was a nightmare. She had been fired for over promising services that never been delivered. I talked to the general manager and the note about the cancellation wave was gone from my profile. I had medical documents to justify my reason to cancel, (I had 2 surgeries in 2 months and was going through physiotherapy). I wanted to exercise in the hospital with the nurses instead of going to the gym for obvious reasons as if I injured myself, no one with take responsibility. However, for ESPORTA,you must be DYING in order to cancel with no huge cancelation fee on the group personal training. ForExtremely scammy, disrespectful work and no one took ownership of irresponsibility, they found all types of excuses to reject my case. They did not acknowledge any wrong doing on over promising services. They lie to me during the registration, over promised services they did not deliver, were extremely unresponsive when I tried to cancel due to medical issues, didn’t send an email to corporate on time, made me call to a corporate number after 3 weeks of silence, instead of helping me on the spot, when I called, they said the email was never sent by the general manager, they hold you hostage while charging for services I would no longer be able to use, until you finally lose your patience and pay for the abusive cancellation fee to get rid of all of this stress. It took more than 34 days from the first day I contact them to finally cancel after paying almost $200 In cancelation fees. I will never ever walk in there again. For ESPORTA, it is all about profit, not your well-being. I hope karma gets into the general manager and everyone involved in this company.

You get what you pay for here, and this place is cheap.

I'm a simple guy with simple needs: a squat rack, a bench, curling dumbbells, and somewhere to do deadlifts.

Unfortunately, this location only has two squat racks and three benches, all of which have become increasingly hard to grab as the place has been recently flooded with teens, especially in busy hours.

I was told by the manager when I joined in April '22 that they'd have deadlift weights and platforms by June. When I ended my contract in July '23, there were still no deadlift stations to be seen. Would probably have given this a four-star rating given the low cost, but the deceptive salesmanship rubs me the wrong way.

I visited this gym 4 times this week. 3 out of the 4 times, I was neglected access because according to the women at the front desk, kids club had reached its capacity. When I brought up this situation to the manager, her explanation was that kids are out of school for the summer and insisted that I find another gym after I mentioned that this was the closest gym to my house. She was very rude and spoke to me with an attitude. I am paying an extra fee each month for child care that is not being provided. This is a huge disadvantage and inconvenience. I understand that kids are on summer break therefore, they should have planned accordingly to accommodate more kids as oppose to turning parents and their children away and having them pay extra. People with kids, please save yourself time and money and find another gym.

I recently moved to countryside prior to that I had been working out at the Westmont location. I figured since this location is close by I will try working out there. My first issue is that there are limited equipment and at the mention of this to the employees. I was met with a ride and non -chalant demeanor about my inquiries. It was as if I should not be asking these questions. What workout centered for not have something as simple as stability balls. I will definitely not be coming back. Ever since it changed to Esporta this palace went down hill. The bathroom and locker room smell and are filthy. Paper towels are thrown throughout the gym. Ever since you can bring up to two guests it’s over runned with teenagers who are tying up machines three or four deep. And they are taking free weights to the other side of the gym and not returning them. The other ESPORTA locations are even worse. Disgusting!

Update* this gym is too crowded. I’m sure it is due to a influx of new years resolutioners, but there is not nearly enough equipment for the number of patrons. Furthermore, it has caused a very noticeable decrease in the state of the facility. Locker rooms (at least the mens) are dirtier, and the weight areas are a mess. Weights disappear and never return, plates are strewn about the area, and generally there is an unkept state to the whole facility. Since my last review, there have been no improvements and only a slow decline.

Been going here for close enough to a year. While staff is nice and equipment is new-ish, I have seen a slow decline in the upkeep of the facility.
I arrive early before work and more and more often, weights are missing, nothing is reset or put away. Garbage and personal items from the less considerate gym-goers are left from the day prior as well.
I feel it’s still worth it for the lower than average cost (watch out, an extra $100 fee if you want the least expensive one, you know, because fees I guess).
But it’s slowly causing me to start looking for alternatives

Extra side note/update. Not a lot of dumbbells here to begin with but sufficient. However, lately, it appears a large number of them keep disappearing downstairs to the fitness/yoga room or whatever you want to call it.

This gym facility has completely gone downhill ever since the transition from LA Fitness to Esporta and the new management. I’ve been going to this facility since it was Bally Total Fitness. The men’s restrooms, sauna, and locker room always smell horrendous. The garbage cans are overfilled with paper towels. Additionally, ever since the Esporta memberships allow members to bring up to 2 guests, the facility has been over crowded. You’re unable to use the machines or weights. Some people use this place as a social club and don’t allow others to use the weights. Will definitely be canceling my membership there.

If you want to cancel your membership you either have to mail a letter to corporate in California or speak with an Operations Manager between 9 and 5 Monday thru Friday. Imagine a world where you can order a passport online but you have to be physically present to cancel a gym membership. Embarrassing.

You can have a nice gym and you can have friendly staff but when you make it difficult for your customers to stop using your product you become a bad business. I had to take time off work to spend 10 seconds to cancel a gym membership. In what universe is this justifiable? Terrible business practice and shows zero appreciation to the lifeblood of any business (the customer).

Absolutely love the cleanliness of the gym as well as the staff. The front desk staff are very sweet and full of energy. As well as the entire staff. I have yet to receive any problems with the membership or the training that i receive. The personal training manager is very respectful and helpful. I had trouble finding time for work and my training. Cynthia was able to work with me and found the perfect trainer that was willing to workout with me in the morning at 5 am!! Highly recommend getting a membership and personal training I joined 6 months ago and already lost 25 lbs!
