Worst customer service ever! 😡 I called to cancel my membership and spoke with the so called manager Linda rude, unhelpful, and arguing nonstop for 10 minutes. I explained I moved to another state with no LA fitness nearby, but she refused to help, promised to text instructions (never did), and then hung up on me!
Called another location — they canceled in 2 seconds with no issue. This place clearly has no idea how to treat members. Even the manager couldn’t handle a simple cancellation request. Totally unprofessional and frustrating experience.

LA Fitness is a great gym with plenty of equipment and space for all types of workouts. The machines are well-maintained, and there’s usually not too long of a wait, even during busy hours. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the facility has a nice variety of amenities like the pool, sauna, and basketball courts. A few areas could be a bit cleaner or better organized, but overall it’s a solid place to work out and stay motivated.

Love this La. Never fully packed, only gets a decent amount of packed. I just got sum to pick w people though, can yall not put away your mats correctly in the studio? What’s so hard about stacking them up properly, symmetrically? Folks don’t got no manners but foster & Eden’s always got their mats on point. This gym has seriously gone downhill, and management does nothing to fix the problems. Once it became overcrowded, I stopped coming because it was nearly impossible to work out without waiting 15–20 minutes just to use a machine.
I recently decided to give it another try, only to find things have actually gotten even worse. Management has reduced the usable space for regular members by converting the turf area, an essential space during rush hours into a restricted zone reserved for personal training sessions. Ironically, the area often sits empty, yet staff still tell members to leave if they try to use it, as if they’re "trespassing". The excuse? They claim the space is prioritized for personal training clients, as if regular paying members don't matter.
It’s frustrating to see loyal members treated as second-class just because they aren’t paying for extra services. Our monthly dues apparently don’t count for much!
To make matters worse, the management team is consistently rude and condescending. It’s no surprise so many people have complaints. There's a clear lack of professionalism, accountability. Corporate seems more focused on cutting costs and maximizing profits than providing a quality gym experience—hiring young, inexperienced staff who aren't equipped to manage the facility.
Avoid this location unless you’re ready to waste your time, money, and patience!

Ever since the XSport Fitness location in Niles shut down, there’s been a massive influx of members transferred to this gym. Unfortunately, the transition has been handled very poorly by management, and the result is a severely overcrowded and increasingly unclean facility. Wait times for machines are excessive, and despite the obvious increase in traffic, no meaningful changes have been made to accommodate the higher volume of members. Instead of adapting the space to meet growing demand, management has actually made things worse.
Most notably, a large portion of the gym floor has now been blocked off with plastic posts and barriers, essentially creating a makeshift “VIP section” that’s reserved exclusively for personal trainers and their clients. This area was previously accessible to all members, but now regular gym-goers are told they’re not allowed to use it unless they’re paying for training sessions — even during peak hours, when the space often sits empty or is used by just one trainer and client for short periods of time.
To make matters worse, the attitude of the management team is unacceptable. Members have been approached in a rude and aggressive manner by both managers and trainers when entering the restricted area, even during peak hours when the main floor is overcrowded and the reserved space is sitting empty. It's incredibly frustrating to see paying members being treated with such disrespect especially when the majority are being pushed aside to prioritize a small group of personal training clients. It sends a clear message: if you're not buying extra services, your experience doesn’t matter!!!
What’s even more baffling is that the gym has multiple unused rooms that have been sitting empty for months possibly since the gym opened. These rooms could easily be converted into private training areas, freeing up valuable space on the main floor for general use. Instead, management continues to misuse shared space, worsening the crowding issue and ignoring obvious, practical solutions.
There’s also been no attempt to reorganize equipment or adjust the gym layout to improve flow or efficiency. Given the circumstances, it’s surprising that corporate hasn’t stepped in. The lack of foresight, communication, and responsiveness suggests a total disregard for member experience.
Many long-time members are already canceling and looking for alternatives. But WE shouldn’t have to leave in order to find a gym that values its members and exercises basic common sense in space management.
Bottom line: Unless serious changes are made including reallocating shared space, utilizing vacant rooms for personal training, and improving crowd control during peak hours, this gym will continue to lose members and damage its reputation! We encourage other members to voice their concerns directly to corporate. It’s clear that the current management team lacks the ability or willingness to handle the situation effectively and they do not have the experience, knowledge or determination to makes real changes. What they do have is plenty of ego on display but unfortunately not much brains to back it up!

This used to be my go to gym for years but they just lost me as a regular. Their staff is so rude. I’ve brought 2 of my friends to try a free trial and the staff always convince my friends to get a membership somewhere else instead because they’re always rude. My friend and I struggle with anxiety working out so we like to go to the turf in the corner instead of being in the middle of the gym. They decided to close the turf off and label it “personal trainers only” and wouldn’t let us workout there even though no personal trainers were even there…… this gym is insanely busy and to make matters worse they block off a whole section of the gym. I pay a ridiculous amount of money for a membership here just for the staff to be rude and not allow me to hit my workout as I’ve always been doing for years. Will never come back here again. I’d rather drive past this gym to go to a different location instead and make that extra drive just to avoid this location.

The one star review goes to this gym. They have closed XSport in Niles. Now two gyms worth of clients come to this one location. To make things worse they closed off a portion of the astro turf are to reserve it for the personal trainers. This action puts the gym to over capacity. They hurd all the gym members like cattle in the remaining area. There are two empty rooms in the gym that could be utilized for personal training. Even planet fitness has one! The manager aggressively commanded myself and another client to leave the area. We tried to explain that the gym was over capacity and there were lines to use every piece of equipment. The manager explained that the client was paying $70/ hr and her needs took precedent over every other members. Unacceptable! Do better!

I’ve been training at LA Fitness in Morton Grove for a while now, and I have to give a huge shoutout to my trainer, Yasmine Baja. She is absolutely the best!
Yasmine has a rare ability to push me to my limits while still finding the perfect balance so I never feel discouraged. Her energy is contagious - she’s always smiling, upbeat, and genuinely invested in my progress. Every session feels fresh because she designs creative workouts tailored to my goals and needs.
She’s incredibly knowledgeable, pays close attention to form, and gives just the right amount of encouragement at the right moments. I used to work out at the Xsport in Niles. I liked it due to the fact that it was spacious and had old school equipment. I saw it was not being maintained properly though, the AC was barely working and on hot days, it was unbearable. Alot of the machines were out of order. But I dealt with it because it was so spread out, i never felt crammed in. That location closed suddenly, and now it seems like some of the clientele from Niles are frequenting the LA Fitness in Morton Grove, as I saw
several familiar faces there. That location is nice, clean, machines work when I can get to them. That is the issue, it's a smaller location, and the few times that I went there, it was crowded and I spent more time waiting on using the machines then actually working out. Its not big enough to accommodate the influx of clientele. Xsport has closed several locations, where are we supposed to go now? They should have thought this thru before shutting their doors suddenly like this.

LA Fitness Morton Grove went from awesome to horrible since XSport Fitness closed and drove all the folks over to Morton Grove. The gym is now super crowded, people using multiple machines at once. Slobs are leaving a mess everywhere. It's just no longer a place I want to go to.
Whoever decided that they could just close XSport and drive the folks somewhere else should be forced to workout here during peak hours. Horrible decision.

Someone stole my swimsuit on the first day I workout here. The place is filthier and busier than I thought. The ladies were all super rude when I asked them to check the lost and found. I've been a regular user of this gym for a while, but this summer things have gotten much worse. It seems the gym has accepted more members than it can reasonably handle. There are too many people just sitting on machines, scrolling on their phones without actually working out. Others reserve equipment and walk away for long periods, and many don't bother to re-rack the weights or clean up after themselves. It's become really frustrating, especially for those of us who come to train seriously. I hope the management takes action to improve the situation.

This gym used to be good about a month ago -however ever since Xsport at Niles closed down - every machine at any given time is taken, weights are not re-racked, and majority of the people have no civic sense or a sense of accountability to clean up or to use the machines properly. At best case scenario you will end up working out 15-20 mins instead of an hour or two due to waiting or re-racking the weights or even cleaning up other people’s sweat on the machines.
The bathrooms are really a mess and you almost want to puke every time you have to use it. No one is maintaining it or keeping it clean especially when their traffic count has increased.
This is not acceptable for me and as a professional with very limited time on my schedule - the last thing I want to pay for is this type of an experience at a gym where I’m supposed to be valuing it’s amenities/services.

Had a recent poor encounter with the employees at the LA fitness at Morton Grove 6791 Dempster, Skokie, IL 60053.
A friend gifted me an 8 swimming lesson passes at this location. The salesperson Cody R., over-promised on the service and what was available at the location.
When I went to claim the first lesson I was told by the training manager there Mahaz S. that there are no swimming lessons available and that I would need to speak with Cody R. Mahaz then told me to wait and I would be next as Cody was attempting to sell gym services to another person at the gym. After Cody finished with that person he immediately went to another person to sell gym services. I asked Mahaz if I was supposed to be next and he gave a nonchalant I don't know answer and told me I should come back another day. After nearly an hour and half of waiting I was able to speak with Cody only for him to tell me to speak with Mahaz again. At this point another employee was able to help me and set me with a supposed swim instructor at the location.
I was then informed that the swim instructor Luke H. would only be monitoring me from a room adjacent to the pool with no instructions. The following week I came back wanting to speak with Luke about the lessons. Mahaz told me he was busy with a client and that he would let me know I was there. He texted Luke who was 10 feet away. Another 30 minutes pass and I'm told that Luke had left and I should come back. Now I'm told that Luke has gone on vacation.
This is unacceptable behavior and business practices from the salesperson Cody who clearly only cares about meeting a quota. Lax and apathetic response from the training manager Mahaz and swim instructor Luke.

The personal training is an absolute joke. Do not waste your money. The trainers are average at best, and even worse, they have no dedicated space or priority access to equipment. So you're paying for a session that mostly consists of waiting around, competing with everyone else for machines. It’s frustrating and feels like a complete ripoff.
Management? Rude, inexperienced, and totally unprepared to handle the influx of members. There’s zero crowd control, no sense of order, and staff seem indifferent to the chaos. You get the vibe that nobody really cares about member experience anymore.
This place used to be decent, but now it’s a disaster. Save your time, energy, and money. it’s time to move on to a gym that actually values its members and provides a functional environment for fitness.

This place has become awful almost overnight. At some point in late 2024/early 2025, LA Fitness purchased X Sport gyms. In late June of 2025, X Sports were closed down and their members were permitted to now frequent whatever closest LA Fitness club they could find. A painfully ill-thought out plan on the part of LA Fitness' corporate department that only their members will be forced to suffer through. At a location where they are already slow to fix machines when they break, a thought should've been given to what's going to happen when an influx of people are now at existing clubs.
Now, LA Fitness Morton Grove is crawling with people. All of the equipment is taken at any given time. So many members refuse to re-rack their weights. If you want to squat, bench press, use a machine or just stretch on a mat, there is no room. Did I mention the fact that many members can't re-rack their weights, so weights that should be organized on the dumb bell rack are just found scattered throughout the gym. This location used to be pleasant and now it's absolutely awful. I invite LA Fitness' corporate staff to come try and workout at this place.

This place is filthy!!! I come here from time to time and it keeps getting worse. Today I walked into the locker room and it smelled like piss. I went up to the front desk and spoke to the lady there. I told her that there is blood on the sink and she said that she will send someone to look at it but never did. It took me 3 hours to finish my workout I went back to the locker room and the blood was still there. This is beyond disgusting. It is like this every time I've come here. Whatever they tell you upfront to sell you a membership is simply a money grab. Look for a different place. The employees here do not care.

This has been a pretty well maintained place to work out, though it's getting more crowded steadily. Also very clean with the glaring exception of the men's room, where the floor seems not to have been mopped since opening day, and the smell is reminiscent of a park district pit toilet. Day in and day out 3 * . Management is clearly inexperienced. Most mornings the place is a mess. The proper way to keep the gym organized is the night before have an employee go around and straighten up, put equipment back where it belongs, etc. They could walk around and tell patrons to clean up after themselves. Today Tuesday 6.3.25, Alex, a new opener, was the opening employee and he was great, 5*. He was on time and after getting the regulars checked in he went around and cleaned up, putting all equipment from around gym back where it belonged. Nice guy. It should be noted that employee Elizabeth keeps the place clean, floors and equipment always cleaned and dusted, etc. Good luck trying to speak to upper outside management. All of the employees cover for each other and nobody provides contact information to district, state, nationwide management.

I've been a member of LA Fitness for over 3 years, and I think it's finally time to leave a review—especially now that I've switched from the Niles location to Morton Grove. The difference is truly night and day!
While I haven't personally worked with any of the trainers at this location, I can honestly say the facility itself is excellent. It's super clean, conveniently located, and has a pool, which is a great bonus. There's always enough weights and equipment, so I never feel like I'm waiting around to work out.
I'm really happy to have such a well-maintained gym just a few minutes from home. If they ever add a cold plunge pool and a sauna, I’d give it six stars—but for now, it’s a solid 5 stars from

Since this club opened in May 2023, I've enjoyed everything it offers, including the layout of the gym equipment and machines, exercise room, and cycle room. The group classes and instructors I've enjoyed thus far are Cycle with Margie and Mary. For Body Works Plus Abs are Margie including her Yoga class. There are other classes I need to check out, but these are my favorites so far. Highly recommend Morton Grove LA Fitness location and group classes!

In comparison to other LA Fitness locations, I would still give them five stars despite this location not having a hot tub or sauna, and experiences with staff being a little bit hit or miss. The overall quality and availability of all the machines and free weights still beats all other locations I've been to (including so-called "Signature" locations), and I love the high ceilings and overall layout. Their pool is also the cleanest I've seen anywhere! Glad to have such a clean and resourced gym so close to me.

Myself and two other guests were swimming when we came upon what looked to be a maxi pad floating in the water with several pieces scattered all around and just when that happened the cleaning lady was walking in the pool area to exit the outer door and we stopped her and told her about this, she completely ignored us and just walked out the door we had to go and get the basket and clean it ourselves. That one person from the facility came to address that issue we were in there for over an hour.

I’ve been a member of LA fitness for over two years at multiple locations, and have been a frequent at this one in Morton Grove for over a year now. I understand their policy of not letting people in past 9:30 on weekdays, as they close at 10:00 and want to leave. As a fellow service industry worker,I know how frustrating closing can be when guests don’t leave.
I came in 5-10 minutes BEFORE 9:30 tonight, and the worker wouldn’t let me scan. I have done this before, as I am quick and leave before they call closing at 10:00, no problem. All I wanted to do was get my cardio in, as I had weight trained earlier. Not only did she deny access to something that I pay for, but she proceeded to be extremely rude about it, giving me lots of attitude. All I stated was that it wasn’t 9:30 yet, and I understood their policy. She eventually took the scanner, and slammed it on the counter in front of me and loudly stated “Leave by 10”. At this point, I was disgusted with her customer service and tone, and left. What a terrible experience at somewhere I have came almost everyday for years, and have referred people to.

The LA Fitness in Morton Grove is one of the best gyms in the area. The gym is always spotless, the equipment is well-maintained, and there’s a great variety of equipment and amenities to meet all fitness levels and workout preferences.
What truly sets this location apart is the management. The team goes above and beyond to ensure every member has a great experience. They’re approachable, professional, and genuinely care about member satisfaction.

A Fantastic Gym Experience!

Had to edit my review after months of going here, it's below average.
It's very new and feels clean, but other than that it's disappointing.
For free weights place is great and big enough to accommodate many people. However their machines are subpar. Many new machines are really just worse version of the standard ones you find at your gym. Lack of machines for legs, lack of equipment such as pull ropes and so on. The worst are the treadmills which are just horrible, keep breaking (expect at least 4-5 to be out of service, many times even the ones without the "scheduled for service" sign), and just overall not we good as the older standard machines.
Place has also become packed so that even during weekend times you often need to wait

Large, newer gym, stuff is ok but it seems they’re not interested in fixing the gym equipment and make it easier for us to have a good training. I moved to the area a few months ago and there’s still a few machines that can’t be used and are scheduled for repair and nothing changed yet. Other that that it’s a good place to work out.

Terrible Experience with Personal Training
LA Fitness completely misled my wife and me. We were lied to about the cancellation terms for personal training—told it would expire automatically, but instead, we were charged an extra $300 because we didn’t come in to cancel.
They sold us a training package knowing they didn’t have enough trainers to meet our schedule. On top of that, I was lied to three times about how the program would end.
This place is dishonest and only cares about making a sale. Stay far away from their personal training!

I wanted to share my recent experience at the LA Fitness in Morton Grove. The gym itself is great, and I was excited to get started on my fitness journey. I went in to sign up for a yearly membership, aiming to get the best possible deal. A friend of mine recently got a good rate, and I asked for the same, but was told that offer had expired, which I completely understood.
During the tour, however, I encountered a staff member—short, with curly hair, and fair-skinned—who was extremely impatient. I was fully ready to join and was motivated to start, but his attitude really put me off. While another employee, Ray, was kindly explaining the options to me, this staff member interrupted and told me, rather rudely, that if I wanted a bigger discount, I should head over to Planet Fitness on Dempster and ask for one there.

I had an awful experience at LA Fitness. When I politely asked about reducing the membership price, a staff member (a heavier-set guy with curly hair) rudely interrupted my conversation with another employee, Ray, who was trying to explain things politely. I took a bit more time to understand the yearly cost, and out of nowhere, this other staff member jumped in and said, “If you want more discounts, go straight to the dempster, there’s a Planet Fitness gym, you can ask for discounts there.”
This was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. His impatience and lack of business manners were shocking. While Ray tried to be polite and helpful, this other person made me feel unwelcome. I won’t be returning, and I would strongly recommend others be cautious before considering this gym.

I recently had a frustrating experience at this LA Fitness location. One of the trainers was using a large area of the gym, including one side of the dual cable machine and five sets of dumbbells (10 pieces total). When I asked if all the equipment was necessary, she explained that everything in the space was needed for her training session.
While I understand that personal training sessions are important, it made it difficult for other members to access the equipment, especially during busy hours. It would be helpful if LA Fitness could set aside a designated area for personal training to prevent this issue from occurring.
If this isn’t resolved soon, I’ll be left with no choice but to take my family membership elsewhere. I hope to see improvements, as we’ve enjoyed using the gym otherwise, but this inconvenience has been frustrating.

So, this LA Fitness is basically the almost perfect gym in a 20-mile radius. It's got the cleanliness of a surgical suite and the equipment variety of a well-stocked garage. But the lack of a whirlpool, steam, and sauna is like finding a Ferrari without a roof. It's still a great car, but come on!

Changing my review to a 1 star for a few reasons and is not because this gym doesn't have a sauna and etc.
The staff is just like the touhy location....pointless and useless. They're better off having automated doors to let members in and one competent staff person at the door. I let them know some guy is vaping by the free weights and they just okay. They never actually talked to the guy. The staff member just "cleaned" and never spoke to the manager about the issue..... they also stand by the front and browser on the computer looking at Amazon and random sites then help members or help people during check in.
They rarely go to clean up the weights left by the 20 kids they made the messes.
ALSO IF YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED LOL. 7 CABLES MACHINES ARE BROKEN. But the response was, oh yeah we're eventually get someone in the next few months
The People here are somewhat the worst. They'll be on cables, machines, or whatever for over an hour and a half. No I'm not joking. Basic gym etiquette doesn't exist much anymore or common sense.
I would've posted pictures of the gym vaping because he's being that open about it but I respect privacy.
This gym needs to get their act together and step up their game considering it's this new and so many issues and bad ratings already does not look good.
If by some means a l.a Corp person looks at this. Send some undercover or something and you'll easily see all the issues.

Very poor customer service. Gym is nice and well kept. Error was made by one of the workers regarding my contract, and rather than showing empathy or looking to remedy the situation the manager Lina dismisses my concern completely and tells me “i should have read the contract”. At least one of the other workers, Victor took the time to troubleshoot the issue which i appreciated.
Very frustrating branch to work with as this the second time i’ve had a big issue with them. Be very careful about your exact contract terms and dates, as they are prone to errors, and won’t fix their own mistakes or even acknowledge them.

Let me tell you LA Fitness Morton Grove is the best gym to sign up for, amazing staff especially Victor amazing guy gave me incredible deals on my membership XSport, Planet Fitness are horrible. Touhy LA Fitness is small but Morton Grove La Fitness is amazing I don’t write reviews but this is worth every single penny clean gym, everything is sparkling the locker rooms, the pool, the equipment especially Victors face if you come here to sign up ask for Victor ONLY!

Please sign up online if you are interested in a gym membership through LA fitness. Victor lied about the benefits included in the gym membership. Activities that were “free” with the membership were actually separate and required an additional charge. I think there should be transparency and no lies. Pretending benefits come just to get someone to sign up is unacceptable. I understand why the services would require a fee, but do not tell me it’s “free” when it actually isn’t.

Title: Disappointing Experience with LA Fitness in Morton Grove
I'm extremely frustrated with the service at LA Fitness in Morton Grove. For the past 5 months, I've been waiting for the treadmills to be scheduled for repair, but nobody seems to know when it will happen. Despite repeated inquiries, I've received no clear answers or timelines.
As a paying member, I expect a certain level of service and maintenance. It's unacceptable that such a basic aspect of the gym has been neglected for so long. I've tried to be patient, but the lack of communication and progress is appalling.
Until this issue is resolved, I would not recommend LA Fitness in Morton Grove to anyone. It's disappointing to see a gym with such potential fall short in this way.

Decent gym that's clean and spacious. Every time I have been a lot of the cardio equipment is out of order and it causes a lack of a available machines to use. Sales can be pushy on trying to get you to sign up for personal training. The salesman told my wife they would give her 8 sessions for the price of 6 and never fulfilled their end of the deal. Apparently this salesman had done this before and management was not willing to work with us on a resolution. It would be nice if they could add a sauna and be open for longer hours

Very rude and unprofessional staff. Was given a call by this location prior to visiting to be on a guest pass as they were looking forward to seeing me. Got there, waited about 50 minutes just to be talked to and found out that apparently the guy I spoke with before coming here does not exist. I could have done an entire workout elsewhere and not wasted my time as you should too.

I recently wrapped up my personal training with Ben K. We worked together for almost 9 months and I look a lot different than I did when I started. The workouts were really effective - a lot of compound movements and personalized routines. He is very knowledgeable about body mechanics and proper form. He made sure I was always comfortable and was a great motivator when I was struggling with my sets. He definitely pushed me to try my best and go beyond my limits- which is probably why I was able to lose 30 pounds since working with him!! Awesome trainer, highly recommend you give him a chance.

The management of this place is just awful, the GM Joshua is a habitual liar sold membership gave false information and he can never get hold off. He sends his minions to talk to customers. Customers please go and look at the gym before buying the membership. There are 3 fees involved firstly, First month last month and processing fee (transaction fee which they won’t tell you) Secondly, there is annual membership (which they will not tell you) thirdly there is monthly membership. They will manually enter you in the GYM even if you don’t go just and then they will say you have used the facility. LA Fitness is looking for a lawsuit here if they have these incompetent managers working and having check in people manually in the system. I did not go to the GYM and the manager lady told me I have used the facility 5 times. BEWARE DON’T USE THIS FACILTY.

I was so excited to try a free week! Monday I tried a fun workout class and really enjoyed the instructor. Today's Thursday and I'm told this location is not honoring the rest of my free week pass “I’m sorry that’s now expired”… and then told me to just sign up for a membership! Very disappointing. The class was great but not sure I'd want to be caught up in a place that won’t let me try before I buy.

The staff at this gym are extremely awful and rude. They make up rules that don’t exist the GM Joshua doesn’t even follow or know the rules to give a correct answer contradicting what the call center says. The sales rep Gabe thinks he can make his own rules and is clueless to the rules and guidelines within the company possibly just poor management but I must say the gym is nice the staff is awful would have purchased a membership based on the equipment and location but I refuse to give any money to an establishment that is so awful . Note to LA Fitness train your staff to all be courteous as the customer is paying your salary.
