I travel a lot for work and have been to many LA Fitness and this by far has the nastiest, disgusting smelling sauna. I almost threw up and then left the gym. Not a bad gym but that sauna was the nasty pungent sauna by far I’ve ever melt in my life.

Completely incompetent staff working there tonight. Exactly at 10:00pm (not a minute extra) they shut down all the lights in the weight room area. I was mid workout leg pressing 1K+ pounds when it turned almost pitch black. I almost lost control and dropped all that weight on myself. I could have seriously injured myself. There was no warning and no one spoke to me about the lights being turned off. I've been to the gym at the close hour many times and this has never happened. This is a serious safety violation!!! How could this happen??? The staff working there tonight has zero common sense...

Where do I start? I left after only 3 months of signing with them. It’s a horrible place. Their staff needs a lot of training and the place is so filthy. A front desk representative named Mikey was so rude when I came in one day and that was the straw for me. There was nothing satisfying to keep going so I canceled my membership. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I went to this gym yesterday afternoon with my friend, who is interested in signing up for membership at this location. I encouraged her because she was very interested in the Zumba class; I took her for an experience but ended up disappointed with the dark lady at the front desk, who was unfriendly and rude. I asked her if I could take my friend upstairs, but she said she needed to pay $20.00 to get in. I told her that $20.00 was not reasonable because that was already my one-month membership; besides, the Zumba class had already started, we were late, we could not maximize the time, and we needed to leave right after the class. She said she could not give us other options; she ignored me after that, pretending to be busy, and let me stand before her, not saying anything until I left. I believe they are offering some promo now to encourage people to sign up, and they are not gonna lose anything if my friend stays with me for an hour of class, and get encouraged to sign up, but I don’t get any other options or offers. The concierge completely ignored me after that.

Well we told to Scott Ryan that we will think about and if we want a membership.. Last 2 days in roll Scott Ryan, is calling, and texting My Wife at 21:30h, that is not regular hour to discuss for membership, plus she told him she is not interested, and HE doesn't understand words NO, continue to text her, calling her....
That person he need to understand that it not comfortable to text and calling in 21:30, that is unprofessional and if Scott Ryan is the menager in that facility for the rest of the workers I don't want even to think about!!!!

Read the personal trainer contract carefully. It basically absolves the gym of any responsibilities imaginable. Through a series of mishaps, incompetence and outright deceptive practices i am now $1,000 poorer, having recieved only 2 sessions. No contact from the gym for 6 months. No emails, texts, nor voicemails explaining why their lead trainer was suddenly gone and which steps i could take to continue my training. When i finally came in to air my grievances i was told i could use my 27 remaining sessions in the next month; why i would trust them with my health when their lead trainer, who is now gone, had promised me that my training would be safe for my hernia, and subsequently assigned me a trainer who, i kid you not, did not know what a hernia is.
The area manager's response to my grievances was that 'they couldn't force me' to exercise.

tl;dr - shady, incompetent, high-pressure sales, total lack of responsibility. read the contract.

I have to share an EXCEPTIONAL experience we had with Scott Ryan. My 94 year old father had forgotten his cell phone at home and relies on the phone to call for his senior ride home. Scott was not only extremely friendly and cordial about helping my father call for his ride, he went above and beyond by researching the Township phone number and then following up with my father to make sure that he was OK. So appreciative and grateful for this level of customer service!

I joined LA Fitness about a month ago, and I’m so happy that I did! Daniel is great and very personable. I just started personal training with Dimitre, and I highly recommend him! He makes you feel comfortable, encourages/pushes you in the right way & is super smart! Great person all around!! The staff are all friendly. The hot tub is clean & relaxing. TLDR: there's a lot of potential to make this gym more attractive as it once were such as providing equipment, facility updates, and group classes since the physical space for improvement.

I recently grab a membership in this gym and I can't help but to compare the condition once it was newly built over a decade ago while I was in high school. For example, the most recent is that I think this place should have basketballs available for the members. I was shooting hoops. I brought my own ball. There's another person shooting hoops with me on the other side of the Court and at least dozen instances where people came in looked around for a ball and left the court. Had there been the basketball available people would have been able to play and enjoy their time in this gym.

Although this gym is over a decade old, there has to be renovations or improvements done in the locker rooms. There is a stench that old locker rooms have that this one has also. I can see the grout tiles darker color than what it was originally. The insides of the lockers are beginning to have cracks and discoloration from use. And there are refilled soaps in the dispensers, but no actual space for them to place these jugs of soap for refills only on the counter where people wash their hands.

I've been coming to this gym for one week on various days, times, early morning, afternoon, and in the evening, but I have not seen any classes that occupies their top second floor being held. It's such a shame to have the dance studio and cycling room without any class is being held.

LA Fitness is not a luxury gym as I once thought it was. Specifically, in Mt. Prospect feels like a park district community gym. I want to try this out to get away from the aged park district community centers but this one is no different. If there are not much improvement to LA Fitness, or another gym similar, I foresee in the next two decades. This gym specifically to turn out similarly to what had happened to the local YMCA. Therefore, this location deserves a 3/ 5 Stars.

I've been a member for 15 years and loved the atmosphere at this gym. Ever since the XSport merger, XSport people flooded in, grunting and dropping weights. This place went from a wonderful gym to a bottom of the barrel type of place filled with meathead characters. This used ti be my happy place and now I dread going. What a shame. It makes me sad but it's time to say good bye to LA fitness after 15 years.

I wish I could leave 0 stars for this gym. Once my favorite place I frequented since it opened, now a scary place. Since LA bought XSport, this gym is overflown by people as late as 7-8pm. It's hard to find a machine. You can hear weights being dropped, machines clacking. They are loud, obnoxious, staring a female up and down, making me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. I've been a member of LA Fitness in Mount Prospect, IL for quite some time now, and I have to say, this gym is fantastic! The facilities are top-notch, and the equipment is always in great condition.

One thing that really stands out is the cleanliness. The cleaning staff here do an incredible job. Every time I visit, the place is spotless. The locker rooms, showers, and workout areas are always clean and well-maintained. It's clear that the staff take pride in keeping this gym in excellent condition, which makes for a much more pleasant workout experience.

Overall, I highly recommend LA Fitness in Mount Prospect. The great atmosphere, excellent facilities, and outstanding cleanliness make it a perfect place to work out.

I simply came in to compare prices for Aqua exercises. The girl at counter told me to have a seat till the guy behind desk will call me. Well I waited and waited till I caught him tell the counter girl he has a client to help exercise. I he then said to me can you call me tomorrow. I said no way I simply want acost for class and now I feel like I am in a bank waiting for you behind these glasses and desks. I told him I don't get treated like this at the rec place. He then said well you get what you pay for,used his hands to show me down meant that's where rec is, up his arms la fitness is. I then told him that's not right of you to down other facilities. It has been like this for the last 2 weeks.... There is no Hot Water over 2 months!!!! This is unacceptable. There is shower and toilet but you cannot use them. What is the purpose of having these services if in reality customers can't use them. I am shocked... I want to puke when I come in to the restroom.
I hope management will see this and really do something about because service that La Fitness provides at this location is HORRIBLE !!

Equipment maintenance has to improve, the equipment is already old and not well maintained, you can even feel how the bearings are dry and drag on the shafts, rubber handles on most of the equipment are torn and not being replaced. This is a great facility and looks outstanding from the outside, management please maintain the equipment.

Has a sauna, but it’s poorly maintained. It recently has been getting unbearably hot (250 deg f when it’s supposed to be between 180 and 200), so people have been pouring tons of water to cool it down a bit. Instead, the water vapor gets trapped inside and the humidity destroys the electrical sauna unit. It went out of service due to water damage within the first week of it getting unbearably hot.

I propped open the door to let the water vapor out and the maintenance worker told me to just stay in for less time. Explaining science to the non-English speaking old man isn’t something I have the patience for, so I’m taking my business elsewhere.

You can certainly get your workout in but it is not a well kept and clean faciality. Be sure to wipe everything down BEFORE and after you use it. Many machines broken and the others need maintenance (lubrication, adjustments etc). Even the barbell ends are sticky and don't rotate nicely (very dangerous). Very noticeable on heavy compound movements.

As a person that grew up being an athlete this gym is a NIGHTMARE! Majority of its “clients” are little kids or middle aged adults that don’t have gym etiquette, meaning they hold on to machine attachments when they’re not using it and they won’t share machines or work in with somebody. Also, it’s constantly smelly, the equipment are broken and not fixed promptly, and lacks equipments. No gym of its size should have only 2 foam rollers or 2 attachments for its cable machines, and it’s very unorganized. Front desk are there against their will. Ryan is decent Alex who thinks he’s a big deal barely does anything of what GM should do. Spend your money elsewhere. This place isn’t what LA Fitness once was.

Place is really big, they have a lot of amenities. Only 2 downsides equipment is old definitely needs an upgrade. The sauna really needs to be bigger gets cramped fast.

Employees are lazy. Told them that weights are spread around the gym you can’t find match weight. After I told him he got back on the phone, was one more at the computer, doing who knows what.

Been a member of the Mount Prospect location for years now!

Used to be that the equipment when needing service or repairs was taken care of in a timely manner.

Lately and I mean for the last year or so, equipment goes sometimes one or two months without repairs or replacement!!!

As a caring member, I always point out or report any issues with any of the equipment so it can be repaired, but it seems like LA Fitness has no care or due diligence!!!

It's terrible to see this happening in a fitness facility that never seems to miss an automatic withdrawal from one's bank account, but when it comes to making sure of having the equipment properly maintained they are SLACKING AND LACKING!!!

Disrespectful employees , if you call with any question you will be rushed and talked over , they will kick you out by 6.30 pm when they close at 7pm and they lock their doors by 6.30 even though one can come and work out for 30 minutes . Almost all the time paper towel is missing in the men’s locker , sauna is down 8 months out of the year , multiple machines broken for months and nobody fixes them , dirty and sticky all over , I can go on with the list but wouldn’t help just come see for yourself . They act like they do everyone a favor but let’s not forget that they get paid out of the customers money . This being said an official complaint will be filed with the headquarters in Cali…let’s see how that turns out , hopefully they will fix their disgusting attitude .

Not a member but was trying to visit as a guest.

My grandmother has a membership there for a several years now but didn't ever go.

As she is a type 2 diabetic, I wanted to help her begin her fitness journey to lose weight. Simply show her how equipment works and types of movements to do so she can go on her own, as I live 45 minutes away from her.

Tried to check in at the front, and this younger guy with glasses had a terrible attitude when i asked how do I sign in as a guest. He rudely asked if I was related to my grandmother. I said yes, this is my grandma.

He then goes on to say she doesn't have guest privileges, he didn't even look at her account details.

Then he says I have to have a pass, then he says I needed an appointment. All of this said with attitude as if I didn't have a right to be there like everyone else.

I have my own membership elsewhere, so we went to my gym instead, without issue I might add. I'll never get a membership at LA if that's how prospective customers are treated because gym rats like myself tend to hold memberships in more than 1 gym.
