This LA fitness is nice when everything is working. On my most recent trip the men's sauna wasn't hot, but the pool, hot tub, and steam room were good. I do wish the hours would be expanded until at least midnight if not 24/7.

I recently had a very uncomfortable
experience with one of the member
service employees. While my husband and I were working out, the employee behaved in an unprofessional and inappropriate manner toward my husband, making personal advances in my presence. When he refused, she later made negative comments about him to

All water fountains were broken and I've been coming to this gym for a while and this isn't the first time it's happened, it's probably the 7th and once it was out for over a week. Not everyone brings their wallet to the gym or has a smartphone to pay for water quickly at the vending machines but when someone is doing activity it's dangerous to not provide water to them. If you think this will happen again, provide water bottles, I don't blame staff this has nothing to do with them but the company itself, this a gym.. the least thing you should have here is free hydration. Let's hope someone doesn't pass out and die from exhaustion.

Date of Incident: October 22, 2025
I have been a diligent and longstanding member of this LA Fitness location for over two years, consistently adhering to all facility policies and engaging respectfully with staff and fellow members. Regrettably, I encountered an egregiously unprofessional and disconcerting incident involving the club manager, Ms. Jeannerette R., that has profoundly affected my perception of this establishment.
Upon completing my workout, Ms. Jeannerette approached me unexpectedly and levied an entirely baseless allegation that I had followed her outside the gym. I categorically denied this claim. Rather than addressing the matter with professional decorum, she proceeded to threaten the termination of my membership, stating that I was receiving a “warning.” When I politely requested clarification or evidence, she abruptly terminated the conversation, asserting, “I don’t want to talk to you.”
Her behavior escalated further with an inappropriate and intimidating remark: “I know your account, and I’m keeping an eye on you.” Such conduct is wholly unacceptable and inconsistent with the standards expected of managerial personnel in a professional fitness environment.
In light of the severity of this incident, I contacted the Niles Police Department to document the occurrence. The responding officers advised escalation to LA Fitness corporate management.
I strongly urge LA Fitness to ensure that Ms. Jeannerette undergoes retraining in professional conduct and customer relations. All members deserve to be treated with respect, fairness, and dignity, free from intimidation or harassment.

I decided to cancel my LA Fitness membership after a deeply disappointing experience with Jeannerette Reyes from member services. Her behavior toward me was disrespectful, unprofessional, and made me feel targeted and discriminated against. Instead of addressing my concern properly, she responded with hostility and even threatened to cancel my membership herself.
No one should be treated unfairly or spoken to in a way that shows bias or prejudice. I left feeling humiliated and unwelcome — not how any paying member should feel. I hope LA Fitness takes discrimination complaints seriously and ensures that all members are treated with equal respect.

such a joke. my friend had a membership and she could bring 2 guests with her membership. we never had a problem we come like 3-4 times a month with her and today after we checked in, we were heading to the changing rooms when the curly head small dude that was in the front desk ran after us and said that my friend could only bring 1 guest in. which didn’t make any sense because we never had a problem since it’s not like we come everyday. we headed back to the front desk where there was another lady and they proceeded to tell us that only 1 guest could come in. i told them we never had a problem before and that the guy was always the one in the front desk. he starts saying “oh but i don’t remember you guys”. obviously your not going to idiot. i ment that he never had a problem with 2 guests coming in with someone who has a membership. me and my friend were going to get a membership the next time we came anyway but that was so uncalled for. they gave us dirty looks acting so above us. and what do you know? we left and went to another LA fitness and they HAD NO PROBLEM with anything. so i guess it depends on if their having a bad day. 🤷🏻♀️

Rating this place 0 stars out of 5. The staff was decent while I visited this location on a day pass. I tried to get the 3 day free trial but you need to have an IN STATE drivers license. So I got scammed on that. Whatever, I needed a place to train. The equipment isn’t bad. JOE from LA Fitness proceeds to call me this morning and says “Hey bro, Joe from LA Fitness. I was wondering when you’re free to come check out the gym.” 1) I’ve already checked out the gym so not sure why you asked, and 2) I told
him I’m not from Chicago. Line went blank and he hung up on me. Instead of being a good steward of customer service, Joe decided to be a terrible representative of customer service. Just moved to the area from out of state, wanted to try out this gym. Got a guest pass online but upon arrival I was told that since I didn’t have an Illinois ID I was not able to work out. The front desk rep was nice and the facilities looked decent but their “policy” was idiotic.

Went to a few gyms and this one in Niles ( LA Fitness) went above and beyond especially Joe. You just talk to him. He’s knowledge and friendliness was beyond amazing. It was not about commission . He truly was looking out for me and my son to get into a better healthier lifestyle. Chris the trainer also tracked me down to get a free session with him. I have looked at many gyms This one was the best. I already do jazzercise ( cardio ) but wanted to add more strength. Please go meet Joe. Need more guys like him thank you for your time and explaining everything

I’ve been a loyal LA Fitness member with nationwide access, and I can work out at clubs across the country — except this one. Imagine my surprise when I was told I’d have to pay an extra $10 just to exercise here.
Why am I paying for an “all-club” membership if this location decides to add a hidden surcharge? It feels misleading and unfair to loyal members who expect consistent access. I’ve never encountered this problem at any other LA Fitness location, which makes this policy even more frustrating.
I had planned to make this my regular workout spot, but I will not be coming back until this is corrected. I truly hope LA Fitness corporate and this club’s management see how unreasonable this is and address it — because right now, I can’t recommend this location to anyone.

Massively overcrowded. You will not be able to get a bench. The meathead quotient is high. Lots of seniors too. Don't go on a Friday night. It is nothing but locker room selfies and bathroom zoom calls, it is absolutely absurd. No sense in having employees if they aren't going to do anything.

Showers are not the cleanest. I mostly blame the members for this. They are slobs! People should clean up their hair from the drain before leaving the shower. Throwing tissue or paper towels on the floor... there's no excuse for that. The members, grown adults, should be more conscientious & respectful and just clean up after themselves! I wouldn't mind seeing some signs reminding members to respect their surrounding, be mindful & clean up behind themslves. They need to get a regular instructor for the aqua fitness class too.

Been trying to get my Physical Training subscription because of my left shoulder dislocating a lot and I been trying to cancel for over a month, was told my corporate to bring a doctors to the GM which I did the following Monday (4/14) and was told I be hearing back which I haven’t heard back after texting Iesha telling her I drop it off to one of the employee to give to her. Haven't heard back for 10 days and got billed $300. Been calling corporate back and forth and now and going back to the location to talk to someone and turns out I don’t need to bring any doctor note but by a physician note saying I can’t continue doing PT. Don’t deal with Iesha you text her and she just leaves you on read. Lazy at her job and not very straight forward about anything. I called corporate today and they told me that the note I brought in on 4/14 wasn’t received or put in the system. Thank Iesha, you’re not very good at your job and would find a new career if this is how you treat your customer. Note: she probably trash my doctor note

Why Are You Still Charging Me? Membership Was Canceled a Month Ago
My wife came in over a month ago to cancel both of our memberships, hers and mine. She explained clearly the reasons why we were leaving — and let me be blunt: this specific location is a disaster.
The gym is consistently dirty. 30–40% of the machines are broken, another 20–30% are marked “out of service,” and the rest are often “occupied” by people who leave towels to “reserve” them while doing circuit training on two or three machines. It’s not just one or two people — it's several groups, some even with instructors. When other members speak up, they get angry, and worst of all, the staff does absolutely nothing. It’s impossible they don’t see it happening — they just choose to ignore it.
The bathrooms are filthy, people smoke inside, and when we complain, the excuse is always: “Why didn’t you report it?” Well, aren’t you the ones who are supposed to be monitoring the place?
So yes — this is why we canceled. And now, to our surprise, you keep charging us. First $72, then $39, and another $39. What’s the excuse now? What’s the justification? Let’s hear it.

I visited this fitness center and encountered bad treatment from the staff, the boy was bright at the entrance, since I am a tourist and my English is not excellent, but we talked good and he did not let me in, although I was paid for this month, but the membership fee that I was going to pay was not paid, but next time, since I did not take money with me, but it was clear that I had the right to come in, he laughed with his colleague looking at each other, and I left, although I was calmly and joyfully greeted by other halls of this fitness center.

Usually, by April, the crowds have subsided quite a bit at the gyms, but this place keeps getting busier. There is also a very disproportionately high number of high school students working out and hanging out here. Makes one suspect that sports teams are being offered deals to join since so many of the kids know one another. Also, with the bigger crowds, beware that thefts have been on the increase in the locker rooms and parking lot. The staff does make an effort to keep the building clean. The sauna and hot tub are often out of order, though. It's definitely not an enjoyable experience as it was as recently as six months ago.

Definitely NOTHING Signature about this LA Fitness. I will say that the employees are very kind and courteous but other than that, this club has gone down the toilet. A few recommendations that I feel could go a long way are very basic and simple. 1) No more than two people per station/equipment. It becomes a hangout for people to socialize, take pics, and just be in the way of people who actually want to work out. 2) If something doesn't work, have it repaired or replaced within 7 days. ESPECIALLY the steam room/sauna. 3) I understand LA Fitness acquired XSport, but let's not let that turn LA Fitness into XSport. The main reason I left XSport is becoming the reason I will end up leaving LA Fitness. It's becoming overcrowded and filthy. I honestly go out of my way to go to other locations when I used to go out of my way to make it to this location.

Relatively small. Horrible machines for the most part. Not enough of the good ones or even accessories for the multi-trainers, together with being very busy, is leading to bad experience waiting for your turn every time.
Treadmills are also annoying, nowhere to put your phone securely if you are running.

Can't put my finger on it, but the front desk people at this location is rude!!! Just signed up not too long ago, but at a different location (HIP)...Way better customer service experience! Anyways, checked in at this location yesterday...Had my son with me to sign up for a 7 day guest pass, as he is home for Spring Break...When I asked for a 7 day guest past I was looked upon like I was a crazy person...So, I had to explain that I have a membership at a different location, and was able to sign my other son up for a 7 day guest pass in person...They told me that I have to sign up on the app for a 7 day guest pass...Struggled with sending the link to my son via app...After 20-30 minutes of trying...it was a success! We thought that was it, but, only to find out we also had to speak to one of the desk people...In hindsight, I should have really asked for everyone's name...Nevertheless, my son was signed up, and we were told he had until next week Tuesday to use his QR...Low in be hold, I checked in today, and had the pleasure of speaking with the "General Manager", and was told that he is giving my son just today to workout, as he just visited in August for a 7 day guest pass...He asked who we spoke to yesterday, and I told him that I don't remember but that I spoke to someone and that he (General Manager) was right behind him...He also added that he has "seen" my son before, and that he's good with faces...Really!? First of all, if he's so good with faces why didn't he remember us from yesterday...Second, is it really necessary for him to mention that he is good with faces? Not very professional especially for someone that is a "General Manager ". Third, why wasn't this mentioned yesterday when I tried signing him up for a 7 day guest pass? Fourth, not that it matters, but my son has special needs...I highly doubt he was there that frequent that he'd remember him...He couldn't even remember him from yesterday, but he remembered him from August...Fnally, though I was livid by the feeling of defeat and injustice, I had to still ask for an explanation of the rules of the 7 day guest pass...I commend the young man that explained the 7 day guest pass to me in his most patient ways, but I could have done without the snarkyness...LA Fitness @ Niles, I understand that because of the action of others that other people may have to pay for it....And that you could loose sales because you claimed that others maybe putting one over you...But, may I remind you that you're in the customer service business; and as such, should keep your decorum, as you could also LOOSE sales this way! -Sincerely, Donabel (Donna)

Truly wish I could give negative stars. I don't know when management changed at this club. I've gone in maybe twice because the sauna and steam are never working. Cancelled membership MULTIPLE times and they still continue to charge me..? Constantly calling for payments? Left a message for a manager who was supposed to call me back maybe a month ago to resolve. Reading over the reviews seems I'm not the only one having issues with this location. Sad to see a once great gym fall to poor management and lack of attention to customer complaints. I would avoid this location at all costs.

Monday, 10 February 2025 I had parked around 8:30 in the parking lot of LA fitness which was the left side of the building and went inside in the gym came back outside one hour after and someone
had broken in my car they literally broke the back window and took my purse! I was devastated and very concerned. I had all my information there my credit cards, my money and debit cards right away. I went inside in the LA Fitness And I expressed my concern to two employees which they were in the front desk. One of them totally ignored me, and the other one said the manager is not in and just called the police. He did not seem surprised and yes, he said it happened before and he cant do nothing about it. So there was no help from the staff who was in front The only thing he did is dial 911 for me because I was in total shock and my hands were shaking ! After I had filled complaint to the police, I want back in the LA Fitness, which I ask a young lady are you the LA Fitness, manager and she said yes And I had told her this is what happened to me She didn’t even look at me in the eye she did not even care and she said yeah we do not have cameras. It’s only one in the back Of the building !!!As a LA Fitness member passed 20 years I deserve or I can say we deserve better treatment from LA fitness employees and for them to do their job Right and earn their money the right way, not ignoring people and their needs and their concerns! LA fitness does not provide cameras around their property and around that huge parking lot !!! but here they are charging you A great deal of money to be there member !!! Big disappointment !!!

Been a member of whomever has owned this chain since 1982. LA Fitness by far, is the worst run ownership. After 40 years of being a member I needed to upgrade in order to use this Signature club, not impressed. Advertised towel service never offered, dry sauna now closed for close to two years, steam room closed for maintenance more often than not. Whirlpool never hot enough, pool area decent, but crowded with kids under 18 who are playing around, not swimming, nobody seems to care. Newer club on Dempster has a pool, but no whirlpool, dry sauna or steam room. Ridiculous waste of office and lounge space, otherwise they could have easily had room for at least one of these amenities. So discouraging after 40 plus years of paying membership dues.

It's sad to say that for this to be one of maybe two three signatures clubs in the state it pretty sad. I don't know when was the last time the men's sauna worked. The pull up/leg raise ab machine has been without pads to rest elbow on for over 6 months that I know of. Equipment is always broke. Every time I come I'm rearranging the dumbells to the correct order or I'm picking up dumbells out of random spots in gym. The machine disinfectant wipes on the floor everywhere. I worked at LA Fitness over 10yrs ago. The employees would constantly walk the floor cleaning and rearranging weights. It's pretty sad to be honest

The sauna and steam room have been out as long as I remember. Most of the time bathrooms are dirt and unattended. On Friday they close at 10pm and the black dude starts kicking us out of the hot tub about half an hour before closing and when asked why so early and why the steam room has out for so long , he said: “ Cancel your membership if you don’t like it here “. This is next level unprofessionalism and rudeness. Who hires these people?! No wonder why so many of my friends are moving to Vasa fitness. Used to be my go-to location for LA Fitness despite the fact it is half an hour across town vs. three locations much closer to me. I would make the effort to go out to Niles because this is one of the few locations with both pool AND the infrared sauna. However, the infrared sauna in the ladies' room has literally been out of service for MONTHS, since at least mid-summer, and it is an amenity that is very much missed by the members. (No idea if the men's side works.) The women's stream room is also under reconstruction but was not always working prior to that. Additionally, the pool gets closed at the most random times for cleaning, often at peak hours. Also, despite being a Signature location, the machines are pretty close together so it can feel very crowded at peak hours (ie. 4-7pm).

The workers are doing a great job! They are in and out!😁👍. There is a very large American flag on the Northside of the wall. I highly recommend after the painters are finished that American flag is put back up on the wall🇺🇸👈. There are many people from different backrounds that exercise at this gym...it's the one thing that keeps us all united. We want this flag to be re hung...where it belongs😁

The staff at LA fitness on Touhy are very friendly and helpful. The club is clean. I enjoy working out there. Unfortunately their stair machines are broken(non usable) quite often. Sometimes only 2 or 3 are available. There are enough of other cardio machines so not a big deal. I recommend LA Fitness on Touhy.

I really want to like this La Fitness because it is considered “Signature” but it’s hard to consider it “Signature” when the employees at the front desk hide behind the computer monitors and when asked a question, they give you a look like they are being inconvenienced.
Yesterday, at around 2/2:15pm… I asked the guy at the desk if La Fitness members have access to Xsport gyms now… his demeanor was as if he was in the middle of something and almost annoyed that I was even asking him a question. He wasn’t even greeting people as I was walking in. More than likely just busy texting on his phone.

I was finishing my workout, and I had one minute left on the treadmill. The gym closes at 10 pm; I understand that we were a minute past closing time, and I wasn't the only one in the gym. I said, 'One minute to finish my cardio,' and he started yelling at me to leave. Really, it's terrible service; it's not what you say but how you say it. Management shoul do something about these people who lack common sense for customer service. Oh, and he threatened to cancel my membership when, just this past week, three friends signed up, and two more are considering it. How can I recommend the gym when they kick us out, waving their arms and sighing loudly, turning off the lights, which is normal, but seriously, is it necessary to yell at your customers?!

I went here to sign up for water aerobics with my Silver Sneakers membership, and they gave me a hard time and I had to call my insurance company. Then I asked for the manager at LA, and it was a very young man sitting in a glass office behind the desk. I told him that the other guy was giving me a hard time enrolling, and the young manager was extremely rude to me and made some sarcastic remark directed toward me.
I asked them if I could go to any LA Fitness , and they said yes I can. I was thinking to myself as I was leaving, “Good, because I’m not coming back here.’

I bring my whole family, friends to this club.
Today I come with my brother and the men from the front desk didn’t want to let my brother to come in the gym, my brother didn’t had the card ( he wanted to pay with Apple Pay ) , he ask nicely and the front desk men refused in the rudeness way ( even if my brother is coming to this gym for couple is years).
Train your personal to be more nicer and professional with customers who is coming here for years!!!!
There is a lot of options around that we will look at it.

Well sauna is not working. Paying for things what are broken. They said it's not overcrowded and it is to the max. While using hot tub they use chlorine on the floor that makes difficulties for me to breathe and burning my eyes. The machines are mini size that I can't fit. Disappointed...

Very well appointed, clean, and organized. For around $50o, there's a lap pool, sauna, stream room, and hot tub. The locker room is clean, tidy, and well maintained with good showers. There's a small lounge area and plenty of cardio machines. The spin room, HIIT areas, and yoga studio are nice touches.
All around a great value and surprisingly inexpensive for what you get.
People keep to themselves and mind their business here... It's not a "scene"... Which is GREAT.

This LAF is supposed to be a specially-designated location (Premier? Signature? Whatever?), which is laughable. I visited twice for treadmill walks and won't do so again.
The parking lot is pretty full during non-peak hours. That's because it's fairly small.
Some members reek of pot. "But it's legal." But it SMELLS! Smoke when you get back to your place, will you?
Machines are pretty close to one another, a lá an XSport location I used to hate to frequent.
The men's locker room is the same as other LAFs that do not carry the "Whatever" designation. And its toilets are just as horrid.

Dropped in from out of town for a workout and mistakenly expected a "signature club" to be something different, special, or otherwise unique. Unfortunately it is not. In fact, if anything , it is a much smaller floor plan carrying the same matrix equipment standard in all LA fitness locations. I found the layout very tight, offering maybe 12 to 18 inches between machines, creating a stuffy, claustrophobic atmosphere. This was exacerbated by a busy afternoon of high school social hour. Also disappointing that sauna was broken, and apparently has been for several weeks.

Poor maintenance!. All the machines has been sticky since I joined in December especially the leg press and linear squats. Was also promised the sauna would be up when in a month and it’s already the end of April. There’s only 1 water fountain and sometimes it work and sometimes it doesn’t so make sure you bring a filled water bottle. Overall, I try to avoid this LA Fitness location. There are others that keep their facility well maintained.

BEWARE THEY WONT’T LET YOU CANCEL!!! Gym is half decent but over priced. They closed the daycare at most their facilities but kept charging me the same amount. When I try to cancel over the phone they say you have to come in person. Supposedly, a “Signature” facility but the only thing that’s different than regular LA Fitness facilities is the extra hour open at night. Otherwise, this location is managed with crass mediocrity, as there’s always something missing, either no soap, no sanitizer, no paper towel, no access to hot tub… when told about the issues, the front desk staff simply give you the “sorry, we’ll take care of it” script only to have this circle of customer disregard happening again and again. The only reason I check in at this location is the extra hour at night, otherwise I suggest going to different locations.

I was in this club 01/20/2024 18:40, the woman was unfriendly. I’m really shocked how she was hired. She is not flexible, she couldn’t resolve the issue, she is just like robot. She didn’t allow my kid to be in gym, however I wanted him to be in waiting area, and I wanted running within a meter from him. When I purchased the membership in another area I asked about it, because I cannot leave my kid alone at home. It was important for me. Moreover that club looks poor- and She didn’t look like a manager and did nothing🤷🏻♀️

The only reason I come to this branch is its proximity to my house. Facilities are ok the class trainers are good and so are the members of the cleaning staff. It’s one of the receptionists and an account manager (one of those people who sit at those tables behind the reception) that dragged my ratings to 2 stars. They lacked customer service skills and could only say ‘It’s policy’ when I had a question about a new rule they just decided to implement today. The receptionist even said, “Those are the rules when you come to OUR gym. THIS IS OUR GYM.” Obviously, OUR did not include my son and me. Came here on 11/16/23 at 5:50pm and I have never been this belittled during the many years that I have been a member.
