I am looking in the area for a new gym, so I decided to get a day pass before committing. I’m met by manager Xavier who tells me it might not show up in their system and if I want to use the gym he could sign me up for a membership. What’s the point of a pass if I wasn’t even able to use it, a waste of my time and lost a potential customer.

Well I used to love the gym I pay a lot to go to LA Fitness I have the signature membership which isn't worth nothing because they have very few signature gyms anymore and since they bought out that piece of crap XSport Fitness the gym has been overwhelmed with people who pay about $10 a month and treat the gym like a $10 gym

EDIT: Unfortunately Xavier was transferred to another location before my 6-month training membership was up. Trying to schedule my final 3 sessions has been an absolute disaster and headache that I ended up scheduling online for another location. I would not recommend trying to train here unless you want to pay for a master trainer.. Xavier and Dan are the only reason I rated this location 5 stars previously. All in all, its probably a 2.5!

Original Review: I've been training with Xavier weekly since March, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Not only have I seen a significant increase in my muscle strength, but my confidence in the gym has also skyrocketed. Xavier's expertise and motivational approach make each session both challenging and enjoyable. Highly recommend!

I don’t live in the area and wanted to fit in a workout after my appt. This location doesn’t have much for equipment and feels sleepy. Probably great for 55+ communities and the high school kids.

This location is decently large and has a fair amount of equipment, most of which are in working order. I find the facilities to be overall clean and the patrons don't seem to be as selfish as other LA Fitness locations. This location also has a pool and hot tub, which isn't true for all of them.

This LA fitness is by far the best one on the Chicagoland area, machines are always clean , weights always re-racked and organized. Great place, awesome equipment, friendly staff. Hennessy signed me up and was really chill and helpful. Only two complaints is there isn’t enough mat space/mats in general since everyone wants to use them. The other issue is all the time the free weights are not put away and are missing or left about. It’s pointless getting the lazy people who do that to change but maybe staff should do an occasional check because I sometimes only have 5 or 35 pound weights to work with.

I joined la fitness to take classes. There is a 5:30 cycle class listed on the class schedule in oak brook. I arrived to the class at 5:30. No one ever showed up. No big deal. I checked the class schedule and there was a mat pilates class starting at 5:45. The instructor’s name is Cheryl. She arrived 15 minutes late. (The lady at the front desk said she’s always late). When she walked in, she asked if we were there for the class. I said that i was. She looked at me then looked away. She then preceded to talk to the gentleman in the back of the room. She asked him if it was his first time and he answered. Now I’m thinking, now she’s going to ask me. She didn’t. It was my first time as well. She seemed rude to me so I just gathered my things and left. Maybe that explains why her class only had 2 people in it.

This La Fitness needs to update its machinery. Also, get ready to watch politics and propaganda in the locker rooms because the TVs are always on CNN or Fox News. If you have a guest, sadly they will be bothered by the salesmen constantly. My friend came in ONCE as my guest, they took her information, and now they won’t stop calling her. So just tell your future guest to block their number.

Very nice facility. I was there early in the morning 7am-9am and didn't have any trouble getting on the weights I needed. Pool was busy, but I did have a lane to myself when I swam as well. I'll also say the sauna was HOT. I'd honestly come back just for the sauna. Cleaning was on point and was quite impressed overall. For $50/month you can't beat it.

I been with la fitness since 2018. Moved to Alsip and I was going there. Sadly they closed. I closed my membership there and now this place is Oakbrook is saying they are my club since I open account there. They harassed me 6 times today that my account has not been closed and I’m due for membership fees when I clearly canceled last month. I’m in Mexico and they want me to mail a cancellation to them because they can’t accept an email confirmation. We are in 2023 how don’t you have DocuSign. Will ever join L.A fitness again. Worst customer service ever.

If you are a previous member, and they keep sending you sign up offers, and you decide to come to check the club and apply for a guest pass-so know, they won't honor guest pass for previous member-that is how they treat previous members(even if you was 2-3yrs with them), and they lying saying that it's says in the waiver that you sign, yeah so it's not listed there if you are a previous member you can't get a guest pass. I only go to swim. There is a sign on the front desk that states that members should limit swim time to 20 minutes when there are members waiting to swim. Moreover, the sign also states that there should be a maximum of 2 people per lane.

I went to the spa/pool area for around 20 minutes. There were at least 4 members in one lane. Pool had at least 7 members in it in which they were mainly socializing. These members absolutely did not follow the pool rules.I did not get a chance to swim. I don’t plan on going there again in the near future.

Definitely one of the nicest LA Fitness gyms in the Chicago location. However, there is a lack of professionalism. Upon entering the facilities I don’t need to hear staff degrade other gym members. The pool is nice but there is almost no comprehension from other members that YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO SHARE THE FACILITIES. The rest of the gym is lovely, especially the basketball courts it’s never super crowded like other locations.

Decent gym but unfortunately there is rampant locker room theft. Front desk knows and keeps a running list of all the people getting robbed. They even show you all the cut locks they’re finding. Do not go to this gym. It is horrible. The equipment is extremely old and falling apart. It is not sanitary as well. They did not even have wipes to clean the equipment down during Covid peak times.

Two of my family members had things stolen from their lockers in the changing rooms. The bathrooms are not clean as well.

The staff is extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. They overcharged my account and refused to give me a refund. Please do not get membership at this gym - they will rob you of your money. There is a lot of fine print they do not go over.

I love this place clean everyone is respectful weights are always available even on very busy days, the only thing i just realized today was that all the pictures on the wall from people first floor and the second floor and the stairs is that they're all white people. Where are the brown, black and asians? The one in Broadview has a mixture. Why not this one?! But the people that go here are all different colors so why only have white people on the walls? L.A. I go everyday to work out and it’s my favorite location it’s always very clean! The janitor short guy with chain, Does such a great job he never stops I always see him cleaning and picking up the weights.. He leaves the bathroom really clean as well.. Update: 2021 - Is there a reason we have to listen to FOX News in the locker room? Cant you find something less controversial? I asked at the desk but back on the next visit.
Poorly managed. Why would they let construction crew use power table saws to cut wood for 2 saunas right next to the pool - no covering on the pool. No vacuum or sawdust bags on the saws. Avoid the pool for a month or so. Upstairs smells musty. Saw staff walking around yesterday spraying some sort of cleaner in the air and over the rugs.

My 17 year old son went with his friends to sign up and purchase a Family membership about two months ago, while with him I asked the representative all the fine print questions, (that as we know a 17 year old would not be aware of) my questions were answered, I specifically made sure that my son would not be financially responsible for his friend's account, I was reassured the day they signed up that this would not be an issue and that it would not hinder his account nor his credit.Two months later having an issue with billing and payment with his friends, he called and spoke to an associate at this location, he paid and authorized the annual fee for his self to be processed, him again being only 17 called me and explained the situation, we conference called this location and I was speaking to an associate (she did not provide her name), I was asking very clear questions and the information that she was giving me made absolutely no sense, while speaking to her I could hear another associate speaking over her, which in my opinion is disrespectful and rude, after the associate tripping up on her words a lady named Laura/Lora or Lauren got on the phone, although I was being direct with my questions she became very upset and condescending towards my direct questions, even at one point mocking me, I directly told her not to speak to me condescending that I was only clarifying that the information that the previous associate had provided was clearly incorrect, she stated "So you can be condescending and I can not" I stated "You are a representative of LA fitness, I am the customer's Mother that is trying to solve an issue" she stated "it is not my problem go to the gym in person and cancel your membership" As a business owner myself, as well of having years of management experience, this is no way to treat a customer, as a manager you must be able to diffuse the situation and try and come up with a positive solution. The way that Laura handled this situation, did not demonstrate any type of professionalism nor the way she represents the face of LA fitness. Very disappointed LA fitness your management at this location should definitely undergo some new training.

The short older janitor with the chain is very unprofessional. He attempts to kick members out of the gym 15 minutes before closing time and lingers around you. Update: Half the people I see at this gym are not wearings masks.

Although they had the touchless membership check in, they did not have enough sanitizer at the machines. They had a few sanitizers on the wall but none of the machines had any bottles - prompting you to walk over to a wall after every machine you use. Supposedly they have a table at the front with bottles of sanitizer but there was none when I came in. Did not see any employees sanitizing equipment either. Disappointing that it does not seem they are doing much to protect guests besides "requiring" us to wear masks and blocking off every other machine for social distancing.

My family has been enjoying LA Fitness for many years. The staff has always been professional, friendly and accommodating. Their always seems to be someone around that is either cleaning or checking to be sure everything is clean. It is worth the monthly fee and can be frozen and reduced at anytime, if you know you won’t be using it, for whatever reason.
