Clean and quiet, especially at 6:30am. Many machines, a large free weight area, and a turffed area for the sled and ropes. Spin room, raquette ball courts, pool, dry sauna, and kids care. I didn't get to explore everything, but it's a nice and inclusive place to workout.

Unprofessional, disorganized. Under No circumstance, do not pay an additional 50$ for group training. The manager ( Sam + all the other one hundred managers that have come and left this gym) puts ZERO effort to find trainers for those classes. The one good thing I can say is the cleaning staff does a great job. Other than that: Its small, customer service is bad, phone service is horrible, hours of operation are awful, a lot of outdated equipment, repair times are a joke if a machine goes down, and lastly they no longer have paper towels in the locker rooms which is massive! I've been a member here for 10 years now- and the equipment across cardio machines, weight lifting machines, and other misc elements of importance has progressively declined in maintenance and quality. I can count at least 3 cardio step machines that have been unfunctional for about a year now- however, they are still sitting there taking space, perhaps so the gym appears to have more equipment that is in operation. More examples: pins in machines that are stuck (ab machine, one example of many). Outdated equipment from the 90s- across the board. No modern, efficient equipment that newer gyms would have, cardio or weight machines.
The optimal machines that do exist( which there are not many) - there is not a sufficient number of them to support the capacity of users wanting to use it at the same time. And this is speaking from my experience which is generally daytime, when it is less crowded. I would hate to see the over capacity in this place at 5 pm.

this place is terrible. staff is racist and the people that come here are problematic. I was minding my own business and a White man decides to invade my privacy for no reason. He then calls a staff member on me because he felt like i was bothering him (mind you i’m not doing anything wrong, and he’s at the opposite end of the gym from me) and she was incredibly rude to me. she didn’t care to hear what i had to say. Half of the equipment here are broken and it’s a very dirty place to exercise. Gym equipment is very outdated and worn out. A lot of the machine cushions are damaged and they don’t have any weights. Everything seems to be misplaced. Everything is very dirty. Mirrors are completely smudged. Very dusty! Place has a very musty sour smell as soon as you walk in. The staff does not seem to care about their gym. Me and my husband wanted to check it out to see if we can join but I rather keep paying my 25 dollars at planet fitness . PF at least has a much cleaner gym and the machines are not outdated and the staff keeps up with the maintenance. Sauna is also packed with bunch of young people fully dressed who seem to go into the sauna soon as they arrive, then proceed to use the equipment in their sweaty clothes which is also unhygienic and makes no sense.

Misleading information.

I recently wanted to try out the group fitness classes and when I stopped by to activate my 3-day trial they advised me that it’s actually only a 1-day trial during their busy season which they said is through February.

The Zumba class that I attended was actually quite a workout and the instructor was a lot of fun however, only having 1 day to try out their facilities is definitely not enough time.

I’m not sure if I would’ve considered switching gyms but I wasn’t even given the chance to really see what LA fitness even had to offer. Oh well, I’ll just stay at the local gym I’m currently at.

Visited as a guest… which they only let you do one time unlike other gyms who let their top tier members bring whoever they want. It was dirty, hot, and I should not have to be harassed by some guy red in the face on roids that’s bugging me to join more than a car salesman. I didn’t realize before that it was a one time thing either, so when we filled the guest pass out again and it worked only to be turned away it was awkward. I get I should’ve read all the terms, but a) stupid rule and b) why let me in with the same email and everything if I can’t come twice? And looking at my ID? It’s a gym. Honestly if I was working there I’d be like you know what, I’ll let you this one time but for future we can only go one guest pass every 6 months. Boom. I was going to get a membership there too despite how dingy and crowded it is because it’s a halfway point for a friend and I, but Mr. Steroid’s weird attitude turned me away. LA fitness and their policies suck, sad to see they bought out xsport!! Just going to go to planet fitness because at least they’re consistent and clean.

Since the British swimming school partnered wit LA fitness to rent two swimming lanes is a nightmare. Little kids everywhere in the dressers,and showers, at the beginning they were just taking the space for the swimming lines now they are everywhere. In the evening when I can go swimming there is no space in the showers because they shower and dress them., Today one kid was screeching and screaming because she didn’t want to take a shower the mother was trying to reason but of course no point, you can imagine the sound in the close shower room.
Horrible experience today and every day I want to swim and the fact that two weeks ago they have to close the pool because a kid shit on it, make me really think on quitting that gym.

The most frustrating thing is when I keep asking about the stair stepper for like a hundredth time, no one to this day can come up with a plausible excuse. The other stair steppers are always, ALWAYS occupied. What am I exactly paying for if I can’t use the equipment?

I became a member of this gym last November 2023. My experience so far has been top-notch.
XSport Fitness St Charles was acquired by LA Fitness ~ change can be a challenge, but I feel this challenge was met head on. All of my questions were always answered regarding my membership. There has not been a blip in my exercise routine. I feel as comfortable today as I did when I first walked in.
This has and will continue to be a wonderful place that helps keep me healthy and moving.

I was a member of this gym for a couple of months I had initially been persuaded into signing up for a personal training class. The classes were great, theinstruction was great, but my situation had changed and I had gotten access to a cheaper better gym. So I decided to cancel my membership after doing the mail in cancellation and getting the confirmation confirmation in my email I had continued to be charged over $40 every every month for over six months for the personal training class that I was no longer able to attend due to my canceled membership. Upon contacting support they told me that it was my fault because along with my membership I needed to cancel my personal training class as well. All indication had pointed towards the fact that I was no longer a member at this gym yet I still was being charged. Support was unable to offer me any sort of refund or compensation for my troubles and they’re even going to charge me to cancel. I hate that I have to leave a negative review on this gym as I had nothing but positive experiences with the staff. With that said I cannot recommend that you sign any contract of membership here they will take your money and run with it.

I have been going to this location since 2013, with the exception of the few years that I decided to explore other options.

My husband and I recently rejoined and also purchased a membership for our son as well. Things have been fine so far. Cardio equipment is not the best, but they’re usable. Facility is clean, although I’ve never needed to use the locker rooms so I can’t speak of those.

We brought a guest this week, his pass scanned fine on Monday. This morning, we were told that our guest couldn’t enter without a manager’s approval and we’d need to wait until 8 or 9 am. It was 5 am, people work, and we were left without alternative options. I understand you have your policies, but who has 3 hours to wait for management? We believe our situation could’ve been handled more professionally considering that we have 3 memberships, the time, and the fact that people have schedules. We will be canceling today! Thank you!

First time checking this gym out, it’s big but the layout wasn’t my favorite, the women’s room is kinda hidden and for it being my first time and feeling a bit anxious and me not being able to find it after my workout made my first experience not the best one. I do like that they have cardio machines upstairs because I just went up there my first time to kind of see where everything is and maybe won’t feel so anxious the first time. I mentioned to the front desk that is was my first time there when I asked for the locker room and they kinda directed me to it but it would’ve been helpful and nice If maybe they would’ve offered to show me around but they did not. They do have a pool which is cool cause they also offer swim lessons there. Have not gone back after the first time but maybe I’ll give it another shot.

Overall an excellent gym except for the fact the wifi never works. For all those complaining about the equipment, all you need are squat racks, dumbbells, smith machines, flat bench and a pull up bar for a good workout and they have that. Avoid peak times, go in the mornings and you will be just fine. Sometimes the sauna is hit or miss with regards to being hot, which can be annoying if that’s all you need.

I am only giving a star because of Melvin. This kid has a heart of gold and is good to people. Jack is the guy I signed MY SONup with for a membership, he single handled ripped me off with 0 explanation as to what a personal trainer will do. Be aware if him. He lies to get that money and its not ok with me. I also tried to get ahold of corporate and sent emails out to cancel the personal trainer for my son the 1st week I signed him up with 0 responce back I also tried to get ahold of mike the GM with 0 success. Many kids end of getting in the way and are often not paying attention to their surroundings which can sometimes become a safety issue when there are weights involved. It’s extremely annoying. For how busy this location gets, there needs to be more dumbbells too. Best thing to do with this gym is to go super early when it’s not as busy.

Dirty. Paper towels laying around. Equipment never put back. Employees sitting around chit chatting. Management allows men to work out in cycle room with no shirts on. Corporate never respons to emailed concerns.

What kind of gym thinks it’s OK to not have cellular signal and no wifi. Forget that you can’t upload your pandora/audible, but god forbid if you have to send an emergency text and can’t do so because the place is like a metal cage and the wifi speed is in kilobytes.

What I love most is that the cardio is on the second level and has a great view of the gym and televisions. This gym is extremely clean. I love the sauna and pool. Also there are so many great options on the main level. There are usually good vibes, no weird or mean people.
There are only 2 things I wish were different and that's the hours and a juicebar. They have limited hours fri-sun. Also I wish they had a juicebar like the dundee Location!
But the gym is awesome and 7 mins from my home.

Nice gym to join. My friend brought me with and I did not know what I should do. Luckily met Jason kristofek and he walked me through a nice routine that I can do to get back into the swing of things. He walked me through an intense workout, but knew I had my limits as I haven’t worked out in about ten years so I was definitely in need of guidance. Needless to say, I felt I would get the right guidance and support from the staff. Highly recommend you go see Jason when you come here. He will guide you to success!!

Moved to this gym from a near by x sport. I wish I made this move sooner. The staff is friendly and the overall vibe is better. Also the sauna is always hot and in working condition. The locker rooms also offer more space. Would definitely recommend.

There are many treadmills (around 7-10) that do not have a working incline function and a few of the strength machines that have been broken for over 3 months. The women’s sauna has a broken temperature knob exposing electrical wiring that also has not been fixed, even though management mentioned they were fixing it 2 months ago. There are not a good amount of weights provided either. 3 sets of 10s, 5s and 15s. The pool is unavailable to use a few days out of the month, every month as well. Starting today, the gym is no longer putting out cleaning items to disinfect the equipment. I come here often but I feel like the quality of this gym isn’t that great and I’ll have to look elsewhere.

I prefer to have wi-fi when i workout. Wi-fi rarely works and is not stable. Front desk told me to download my music to cell phone. Wi-fi should be a required service for customers.

If I could give a zero I would. Daughter signed up for a membership. Tried to cancel numerous times. Was told to send a signed letter in the mail cancelling her membership which she did. Still not cancelled and charging me monthly. I call, talk to Emily. A very rude and unhelpful young lady. She hangs the phone up on me after I ask to speak to a manager. Her words "she will tell you the same thing. She is away from her desk. She is here Mon-Fri 9-3". ((Click)) After 4 times of calling back I finally get to the manager, Christine, and she informs me I should have sent the letter "certified"...they "supposedly" didn't get it. Now I need to physically go into the gym to cancel. All this effort to cancel a gym membership. Clearly this is what they do to scam you or in this case scam a 17 year old. More importantly the smug attitude from Emily set me off. Terrible business practices over there. If you don't believe me, just look at the other horrible reviews for this gym. If you need further proof, check out their rating on the BBB 1.1/5 by 467 people. They scam underage kids to sign up for memberships.

Very good gyms, they git everything: plenty of dumbells, several squat racks, lots of z bars, many bench press and a lot of working out machines. There's a great swimming pool, racquetball courts south Elgin location) and sauna. The monthly fee is affordable.
I like to workout on the weekends on the South Elgin location and I go to the West Dundee location twice a week. Unfortunately the West Dundee location is most of the times too overcrowded,

This is for parents who take their kids to the kids club. I’ve been going there for a few months now and all the staff is great except for this employee David. He is always complaining about how there are too many kids and the limit should be 1 hr, etc. he’s even told me “if I was a parent, I wouldn’t bring my kids here because we’re not really professionals or trained”.

I never said anything until today. He called me cause my daughter (6months old) was crying. when I walked in, my daughter was falling off the swing, leaning towards the ground face down crying uncontrollably. He just stood there and looked at me and said “yup”

Absolutely RIDICULOUS and NOT SAFE for any kids. Please check on your kids periodically.

After the purchase and rebrand the internet has literally been broken every day. Some of us rely on some kind of cell/WiFi service to be able to receive/send potentially critical calls/texts/emails while at the gym. NOT HERE SINCE THE ACQUISITION! Not only is the signal for cell awful but now the WiFi is non-existent.

This club might look nice but once you go there regularly you realize it isn't. I've spoken with the General manager and District manager about the cleanliness and my concerns were brushed off.

I paid for a basketball membership and in the 2ish months (going 3/4 days a week) I've had my membership the courts have never been cleaned properly. It's always riddled with sweat and dust from the night before. If you play basketball you know how disgusting and unsafe playing on a dirty floor is. On top of that one of the rims is bent.

Anytime I asked what was being done nobody knew and/or I was given the run-around. I asked some of the guys who have been members for a lot longer than me and they said that things were much better before the rebrand. Which makes total sense. They only care about the weight room.

And cancelling here is a joke. $25 to cancel even though I already paid a $50 annual fee.

Since the change to Exporta there are more than a few issues. WiFi is not great always losing signal. A lot of machines that I used are no longer there and they are now to close together. Now you can smell everyone’s body odor. The new layout of fake grass which I never see anyone use was a bad change. That money should of been used on new equipment. What works at one Exporta may not work for another. There’s also now a younger crowd coming in and socializing instead of working out. Just about everyone is without masks on. This is why I gave it 1 star. If I could I’d leave no stars. I feel the place made a change for the worse. Only reason I come to this gym is because it’s not far from my home. Looks like I may have to look for another gym. Last the hours at Exporta closes to early.

Good gym. Some of the equipment is showing wear, but everything is usually in working order, except for the sauna which has been being repaired for a few weeks now. I wish their prices were a little lower, but for the location and the convenience, this is the perfect gym for me.
