I came here for the rooftop restaurant Harvest. I had low expectations for the food. Everything we had was really good. The truffle fries were crispy, pancakes were good, the salmon bowl and burrata salad were perfect for a hot day. The salmon was perfectly cooked.

The view on the rooftop is lovely and the service was great. Definitely don't miss out on the rooftop restaurant/bar.

I absolutely love Lakeshore! I’m so glad I found this spot.

PLEASE ignore the low ratings from some people. Folks don’t l understand what it takes to run an enormous club like this while also keeping the prices competitive. I’m sorry … but NOT sorry. With such amazing deals (ie monthly membership price + all that’s included) you are NOT going to find anything better. Go to Midtown and then complain about how much you’re paying there (at least $200 more) and how crowded it is or any other complain. I’ve been there, experienced it. Over it.

Let me explain more …
🎾🏓 TENNIS and racquet sports are at the forefront of this spot. They have amazing courts, great/talented coaches, and tons of opportunities to play. Classes, drop-ins, private lessons, mixers, teams… seriously everything! Huge shout out to Coaches Brian, Pedro, and Kristina!

🏋🏽‍♂️🤸🏾‍♀️ GYM facilities are great. There are multiple floors of equipment and tons of hidden rooms with MORE equipment. Oftentimes, they’re empty! Any gym in Chicago is going to be crowded during peak times (7-9a and 5-7p). They also offer amazing classes, a wide array of them, that are INCLUDED!

🚿🧹🧼 This is one of the CLEANEST gyms I’ve ever been to. The locker room staff is amazing and every time I’m there, they’re constantly cleaning. Also, the locker room itself has a hot tub, sauna, and steam room. All within the privacy of the locker room. The adult locker rooms also never have kids in them which is a plus. There’s a separate one on the 4th floor for families.

🍽️🍷 HARVEST is the rooftop restaurant and I’ve had a couple of meals there. They put on some excellent themed dinners, like the 4th of July BBQ which is very affordable! They also have a great menu and carry some good wines and beers. Their cafe on the 2nd floor also has yummy snacks and smoothies and protein shakes that are easy on the go.

Happy to be part of the LSF community. Great vibes and has helped keep me active — I go here and enjoy it so much that I’ve successfully lost 15 pounds! Back to my normal self.

Search through the ONE STAR reviews first for an accurate description of what goes on in these facilities before making any decisions.

To confirm the disappointing portion of my subscription was the fact they are extremely rude and unwilling to make small exceptions and/or accommodations for situations people are going through outside of the facility to the point where it feels very much obvious that they do not wish to help nor lose money in any way shape or form.

It is no surprise they struggle to even keep barely a 4 star review. Midtown athletic club may be more expensive but their attentiveness to their members and applied customer service is why you pay more. Not just for an even better facility.

A huge thank you to everyone at Lakeshore Gym in Lincoln Park! My family and I have absolutely loved being part of the community — we’ll miss it dearly (and so will our muscles, though they might pretend otherwise). It’s been a joy getting to know so many of you working there and thank you for all your help.

A special shout-out to the incredible childcare dream team: Bryan, Chidinma, Veronica, Yaya, Chris, and Sarah — you are all legends. My kids adored you, and frankly, so did I. You kept them safe, happy, and entertained... and gave me the gift of a peaceful workout. True superheroes.

To the amazing housekeeping staff — your warm welcomes made my mornings brighter. Thank you Lorena, your lovely sister Maria, Sara, and the kind lady who always greeted me around 9:15am outside near the entrance , during the weekdays (I'm so sorry your name escapes me, but your smile never did!).

And of course, a very big thank you to the fabulous Annie at reception — guardian of the lollipops and keeper of the not-so-secret drawer. My kids may never forgive me for taking them away from your candy stash.

With gratitude and love from all of us!

Dropped $35 on a day pass at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness in Lincoln Park, expecting a premium experience. Instead, I found outdated equipment, overcrowded spaces, and unsupervised kids running amok. The locker rooms were less than clean, and the staff seemed indifferent. For that price, I could've had a better workout at a local park. Not worth the hype or the cash.

I booked a birthday party for my daughter because it was hard to find someone who would respond ahead of time. I chose this place out of a few last minute options.

The upside: The party was very nice. The hosts were amazing, friendly, down to earth, and social. I didn't have to do much running around because they did everything for me which is serving the guests, lighting the cake candles, and cutting the cake. It was a nice and cozy atmosphere. The party was expensive but the host gave me an alternative to take the sides away from the choice of pizza which ended up being $150 cheaper. They decorate for you, too.

The downside: the minimum guests allowed was 15 children. I had a hard time finding 15 kids for my daughter and I reached 12 but some people canceled. I still had to pay for the absent people. Which is $40 per child including their pizza fee which is $22 per child. The boxes of pizza were so small and the pizza was mediocre. The cake tasted "different" as one guest said. I tasted it myself and it was ok. You can't bring your food. If you're not a member, you get charged an extra $350.

Overall: the children had fun and enjoyed it. I think the party is expensive to pay the hosts equally but the food didn't make sense with the expensive. I would book again if the downsides improved.

If you are a childless adult looking to workout - do not go here. Join FFC, Midtown, or even Xsport. This place is terrible value unless you have young kids and need daycare. The membership rate is $150+ for outdated equipment, kids running around everywhere at all times, high schoolers misusing and hogging equipment, and overall just very little space to actually workout despite the facility being huge. There isn’t that much actual equipment in comparison to commercial gyms.

Also the front desk staff is not helpful and it’s impossible to get ahold of anyone in billing or membership. I’ve been over charged several times for things I didn’t sign up for or incorrect membership fees. Honestly a scam.

I’m really disappointed in my experience here, with the exception of the tennis programs which are great.

I just finished my two week trial membership and here's what I like about my individual plus kids membership:

*FREE 2 hour childcare
*Variety of classes - Pilates Mat with Zineb and Fuerzo Kickboxing with Marcelo have been my favorites!
*Special programming! Kids are in a free weekly dance class and they had a reptile show where we could touch the animals.
Negatives:
*Parking is a challenge despite them having two parking lots. I had to park on Fullerton this morning around 9AM.
*Family pool access is limited on weekends as 3/4 of pool is used for lessons in the morning.

Definitely worth the investment for the childcare alone!

I’ve been attending Lakeshore Sport and Fitness for over eight months now, and it has been an incredible experience! The classes are fantastic—Monday yoga with Manny is the perfect way to start the week, and Dylan’s cycling sessions on Tuesdays always keep me motivated. Carla’s body conditioning on Wednesdays is tough but so rewarding!

A special shoutout to Kid Kampus and their amazing counselors, who have made it possible for me to maintain my wellness routine while being a busy mom. I can’t recommend Lakeshore enough for anyone looking for a supportive, fun, and effective fitness community!

We had a wonderful evening celebrating our daughters bday with a rooftop pool party. 100% stress free as LSF handled every aspect of the party from decorating to goodie bags, all we did was show up and have a great time. The kids, parents and grandparents had a ball! I definitely recommend them for your next kids party!

I love this place. It has absolutely everything an individual or family could want. I joined as a college student at DePaul university and then returned with my children as well. Excellent exercise and yoga classes and the best tennis courts and coaches. The outdoor deck and dining area has some as the best views of Chicago which makes up for the lack of outdoor pool. There is an excellent indoor pool for serious swimmers. Did I mention the customer service is stellar.

I’ve been a member for about five years. I’m retired and go about five to six days a week, sometimes mid to late mornings and occasionally mid afternoon. I have my own routines involving weights, a few machines, stretching, and rolling. I really like the atmosphere. I find the staff to be friendly and courteous. I joined the run club for last year and loved it. We occasionally take our grandkids - it’s great for families. I disagree with many of the negative reviews, but maybe it depends on what you want.

With three floors dedicated to everything from cardio, to strength training, to swimming, to class and instructor centric sessions, outdoor & indoor pickle ball courts, and even an incredibly spacious rooftop cafe / bar / patio recreational area with, among other things a shuffle board setup, you’d be hard pressed to find an activity or exercise that could not be undertaken at the Lakeshore Sport & Fitness.

I also must draw attention to the ever present professionalism and positive demeanors exhibited by the staff.

Additionally, their spa and sauna facilities are quite excellent. Time permitting this fitness center is a place you can easily enjoy for an entire day without running out of things to do.

The only drawback pertains to the parking availability. If possible I’d strongly suggest taking public transportation because the lot fills up quickly during peak hours and on the weekends. But otherwise I’ve nothing but good things to say about the Lakeshore S&F 👍.

Agree with others that the facilities are rundown and the staff is unhelpful. Took forever to schedule things and response time to emails was multiple days. Tried to cancel once and they convinced me to do a hold. More interested in getting your money than providing a quality experience. Do not recommend. Other gyms are more expensive but more than make up for it in terms of quality, cleanliness, and overall experience.

Lakeshore fitness? More like lakeshore daycare. Kids running around everywhere. Plus limited lifting equipment and some very run down areas of the gym with drywall chipping off and dirty floors. Was a member for 2 years because of close proximity to my apt. Staff seemed nice. Gym has a lot of amenities but is very out dated and bizarre layout The place is one giant daycare. Little kids running around everywhere inside and on the bball courts. Teenagers on their phone / never putting weights back. For such a massive facility they have limited treadmills and free weights. They have 2 regular squat racks inside this building. How is that even possible? They added an outdoor gym in a parking lot that no one uses. They should make 2 of their 8 tennis courts into more workout space. They gym has potential but has a long way to go. Also, your membership increases $$ on your birthday ! Happy bday to you!

Great place to workout! The club has gone above and beyond during covid to ensure everyone’s safety. There are dividers for the cardio equipment with suction tubes going to air scrubbers which allows you to do cardio without a mask. Everything feels clean and the staff is always super friendly.

The rooftop is also amazing with a great view of the city. Harvest restaurant has delicious food and good hospitality!

Before covid-19 I thought it was a great place to workout and I really enjoyed it. Since covid-19 they have gone above and beyond. They had frequent communication via email to members updating on what was going on. The emails were very detailed and came out quickly as Chicago progressed through different phases of reopening.

They continue to go beyond what any other facilities have done. They have rearranged much of the weight and cardio equipment to allow for social distancing. The cardio equipment has dividers with suction tubes going to HEPA filters so you can safely do cardio without a mask. The hospitality staff were vigilant before, but now clean every single thing that has been touched.

I am so incredibly thankful Lakeshore is open. They have created many new procedures such as reserving workout areas or the pool to ensure safety of each member. In a dark time it has been a light for me and many others.

In addition, Harvest has been such a beacon during all of this. I loved the food last season with the new chef John Diaz. But this year it is one of the few places I feel safe dining out at. There is plenty of space between tables and all ordering and payment is virtual through the website Tock. Plus the view of the city is incredible.

They do not properly enforce their mask-wearing policy. I canceled my membership after playing in a clinic with someone who refused to keep their mask on. I had to leave the clinic for my own protection. I contacted the director of tennis and the membership director immediately and it took the General Manager over 2.5 weeks to get back to me: she tried to give me some "free classes" and they were mainly concerned with keeping their $$$ and my membership. They actually tried to charge me an additional month as I didn't give the "proper notice." As for the member in violation? They did nothing to her but told ME: "I could find another clinic so I didn't have to play with that member." I did. I found a different club to join. Finally, LSF is an old club in desperate need of repair both to the physical building, as well as the integrity in which they operate.

I belong mainly for the tennis program. The pros, classes, and overall community are great. However, the courts themselves (7 and 8 in particular) are in relatively poor condition and can be difficult to play on. The only serious competing club is midtown (nicer and higher # of courts), but it is more than 2x as expensive as LSF, so your decision may come down to price vs quality. I plan to stay with LSF, and hope that they plan some renovations in the future.

Honestly...don't even bother. I've been a member for awhile and I'm disgusted by their handling of billing during this pandemic. My credit card was charged without my knowledge in July and I received NO communication from the club stating that membership dues would be reinstated. I was able to put my membership on hold for August, filled out the electronic form for September and wouldn't you know it...my card was charged again!! They claim that none of it is their fault.
Be careful - this club is known for putting charges on people's accounts and there is NO accountability on their end. The same thing just occured with my girlfriend so I know I'm not alone. Don't bother - Go to Midtown or FFC. They are legit with their billing practices and care about their members as people and not just a form of payment.

If you are looking for a day care center that fronts as a tennis club / work out facility you’ve got it. This place is so greedy, they will take any $$ they can over members satisfaction. The kids are spoiled little brats that run around screaming with no respect for adults. The locker rooms are dirty and outdated. Oh, and they raised the price 10% and said it is a “standard” across the industry.

I've been a member at LSF for a year now, and it's a great health club. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. The equipment is all in great shape, and the place is huge (basketball court, lots of tennis courts, group classes, racquetball, pools, 1/4 mile track, boxing room, everything). I've never had to wait for any cardio equipment, and very rarely have to wait in the free weight section. Management has shown that they are really serious about continuing to improve the club (based on some reviews and conversation with older members, the place used to be a bit neglected). The locker room renovations left a great, clean area, and the rooftop is perfect in the summer. Sure, there are kids wandering around sometimes, because it can be a family oriented club (which could be nice for some), but as a get-in, get-out exerciser, I've never really been bothered and will continue to go to LSF as long as I'm in the neighborhood.
