This location is one of newest in N, N-W suburbs, and it's the smallest ! Working out people are like chickens in chicken coop, NOT ANOUGH SPACE, the could of build it at least like Vernon Hills size also give a Vernon Hills price for it. The only good quality is a pool, at least deep, enough pro swimming lanes.

Also why Life Time takes so much money without working night time at least one location in the area !? Let's say Northbrook or Skokie.

Horrible! Iam very upset been member for 10 years !

This afternoon, I visited the Lifetime Health Club of Northbrook, where I worked out before a few years ago. I was hoping to get a tour of the updated facility & have the chance to workout. Before arriving at the gym I was informed by staff that I was able to come in for a workout and a tour of the facility after booking my appointment. When I approached the facility, the front desk assistant decided to change their mind and not offer me a workout because I did not purchase a day pass. Being very offended and seeing lack of professionalism I left and have to workout somewhere else. I expected flexibility, professionalism and courtesy. This experience has definitely impacted my perception of Lifetime customer service- unprofessional, rude and impolite to customers. Stay away from this place whether you are trying to get a new gym membership. These people are rude and unprofessional. Do not give them your business!!! Go somewhere else!!!

This gym is great! Front door staff not so much. They were happy to take my money for a new membership. The app to sign in does not work. Tried multiple things with them and they simply said “we have done all we can” and gave me a paper sign in card. As if it’s my fault..? They were pretty rude and apathetic.

I sometimes work out here when I am in the area. My usual is Vernon Hills. I find Northbrook to be smaller in terms of equipment and amenities. It's lovely but somewhat limiting. Not my favorite Lifetime location.

I booked a first appointment with a hairstylist at LTF Northbrook, it was THE worst haircut I have ever had in my life!!! I shared multiple photos of MYSELF with the hair cut I wanted. I left with a haircut that did not resemble in anyway shape or form what I requested AND paid $120 for it!!! We have all had a bad haircut or 2 but this was just awful. It will take months for my hair to reach the length I requested.

Great gym and amazing staff - however there has been an ongoing issue in the locker room where guests would stay undressed and walk around shaving undressed and following you (especially if you are younger). I understand that it is a locker room but being undressed for longer than the time it takes to change your clothes and not using a towel to cover yourself and acting oblivious to what they are doing is absolutely disgusting. If this gym addresses this issue - I will change my review to 5 stars. But I am sure that the staff even notices these members but dont say or do anything - not even telling them hey you need to keep a towel on etc. Hopefully this will change and this will become a safer and more modest gym.

This Lifetime is newer and feels modern, but really don’t like the gym is way up on the 3rd floor. Also it’s missing a basketball court.

The workout space is small and all the cardio machines are a foot apart. I like to workout in a more private space. For the price I feel it’s too crowded and packed.

Whomever designed this gyms layout is probably brain damaged. No basketball court, no cold plunge it’s small. This gym had a lot of space and inside is small… but equipment is nice and they take care of all the equipment and is clean. Locker room nice too still five stars but I suggest lifetime get the guys that designed Oakbrook or Vernon hills lifetime if they’re going to build another gym

This location is truly top-notch and worth every penny. One of the things I love most is that the women’s locker room has a jacuzzi, steam room, and hot sauna exclusively for women. It makes such a difference!

A luxury gym is only as good as the people running it, and Sheri Harrison goes above and beyond. When I first joined, Sheri made sure I felt welcomed and even set me up with an exclusive stretch session, which I loved! When I took a break and came back, she was just as kind and welcoming. She’s a breath of fresh air, and truly makes the whole experience feel even more high-end.

So thrilled to be back here!

Beware any city transplants coming from EBC and expecting a similar experience:

My wife and I moved to the suburbs from the city and got our hopes up for the new Lifetime in Northbrook. The monthly fee is relative to EBC so we were expecting a similar experience. The building is quite large, and I was surprised that despite how big the building is, how small the actual area to workout is. I prefer to workout alone, and the gym seems more setup for classes. I commonly went during rush hour and found all of the squat racks were taken up by a fitness class. The cardio equipment is so-so. The wipes are hard to find and commonly dried out, so doesn't seem like a lot of people use them.

The sauna is nice, but the overall locker room was subpar; it felt crowded and several times there was a wait to use the shower, and on top of that the soap/shampoo was constantly out which was frustrating.

After 3 weeks of going and trying my best to make it work, I had to terminate my membership. There are other gyms in the area that will deliver a far superior experience for that price range.

This is our home gym. Sure it’s not cheap but you get what you put into it. My wife, my son and I have been members for over 2 years. Only recently did our fees go up but again it’s worth being a member if you go enough and take advantage of any of their other amenities like their daycare, the indoor and outdoor pools.

We have heard there’s a waiting list and believe it as it does get crowded at times but not super crowded.

I have been to several other Lifetime properties in the Chicagoland area and this is in my top 5 locations.

The staff is great as well as the trainers that work there. You can tell business is good when you rarely see a trainer solo. Instead they are working with clients, training away. I do find it strange that the GM trains some people as he’s taking away from his other trainers.

The folks at the Cafe are wonderful and friendly as well.

Let’s not forget about the workers at the Daycare! Doreen, Wilma and their crew all work their tail off taking care of the babies, toddlers and kids. God bless em.

There is parking lot parking available but at times it does get full.

Extremely unfriendly front of house. I walked in yesterday to inquire about a membership. The gentleman behind the desk was young man with a big bushy beard. He looked at me like I had three eyeballs. I repeated my request, “I’m here to inquire about a membership ““ he responded. It’s 279 a month but we’re on a waitlist. the tone of his response was like, are you kidding? Of course we’re on a waitlist. I did not know that. Did he ask me if I wanted to be added to the waitlist, nope he just looked at me as if I was nuts. So I said, thank you and left. Very poor interaction, they should train their people better.

I joined the waitlist, activated at another location and called Northbrook as the email stated they would call me within the hour. When they didn’t call, I called them. She said well if they didn’t call me I’m still on a waitlist and there’s nothing she can do and there’s no call - so the emails incorrect. I began to ask a few questions about the club in general, not just Northbrook, but lifetime in general and she would not answer them because I’m not a member at her gym. I asked to speak with a manager as I felt the service was way below standard and she said she was the concierge supervisor. Terrible experience just with my first phone call. For $300 a month and up you think they’d be nice to you when you call.

I'd like to inquire about the operating hours for the family locker room. Are these hours different from those for the men's or women's locker rooms? I've received conflicting information from other sources, with some indicating that the hours are the same across all facilities. Additionally, could you please provide information on how I can confirm the operating hours and schedule for the family locker room? Thank you

The gym is not big enough to charge what it does and most of the time the limited number of equipment is taken up by the trainers for their clients….been a member since summer and I’ve seen this situation get worse consistently.

Feel like a second rate customer if I don’t go with a trainer and I already pay premium pricing compared to other gyms.

I also am not a fan of some of the trainer’s attitudes. I won’t name drop but some walk around like they own the place. Please train them appropriately to be more courteous to customers that don’t use trainers. Also have them reevaluate their training programs to be more courteous to all members and their tight schedules.

A good start would be to not take up equipment of the same kind all at once for a class during busy hours which is 5-6pm on weekdays usually.

Old orchard has more amenities than Northbrook. Considering that they charge the same price as Oakbrook location which has way much space for spa, sauna, weightlifting area,COLD PLUNGE,boxing area is an absolute joke. Old orchard branch seems to have more amenities than this location. The prices should be lowered due to lack of amenities.

Clean gym overall. Poorly planned out. Water fountains are few and aren’t easily visible. Free Weight space is small with limited machines. Training area is on the third floor while the daycare area is on the second usually not the case at most LTs. This LT shouldn’t be in this price tier considering small square footage, no cold plunge, no turf area, no boxing/mma area. It’s just feeding off of the demographic and that it’s “newer”.

Lifetime had a “poolpalooza” today. Wow, what a great event! There was a DJ, a hula hoop instructor, popcorn and snow cones…and, wait for it… a mermaid!! My daughter (3 y/o) called her Ariel but her official name was ShellSea (her real name is Chelsea).

I haven’t had such a great time on the dozen cruises or yearly resort visits I’ve done.

Well done!! Well, done indeed!

I witnessed a Kid’s Academy team member talking on the phone extensively while being the only person to care for three infants. This team member was not reported or fired.
After 2 years at Lifetime I’ve learned their lack of respect for their employees & the children they care for in the Kid’s Academy is astounding. While Northbrook is putting in a new hack squat & 4 squat racks, they’re also cutting the pay of long term employees & getting rid of instructors for kid’s classes. There are now unqualified & untrained team members trying to teach your kids, and I promise Lifetime does not care about your child’s experience more than they do money in their pockets.

The pictures shown are NOT of the Northbrook location, as it does not offer a basketball court or some of the other amenities features and is more dated.

Overall, I like this gym, but the often unfriendly front desk people, the dust bunnies under the equipment, the extremely slow cafe, and the poor behavior of women on their phones while in the hot tub or sauna (They take selfies and turn their music/ videos up so loud you can’t use the time to replace), makes it less desirable.

I signed up for the $250/ month club to work out and take use of the amenities, but that usually comes with less than relaxing surroundings. I’d love to see management enforce some of these rules to make the club feel less trashy and more worth the $$

This gym is very clean and has great class instructors. After trying a variety of classes all were very knowledgeable. However for the significant cost per month there are a few things lacking. Class times during the week are very limited during afternoon/early after work hours (i.e. before 5:45 pm). Many of the popular classes are uncomfortably full, even with assigned spots. And considering the large size of the gym, the free weight area of the weight room is pretty small with limited floor space for weights. The weight machines they have are nice, however lacking some popular machines found at less pricy gyms in the area. Overall, seems like a nice, clean club with good weekend workout classes disguised as an expensive gym.

The front desk staff was extremely rude. I was asked for a negative test because it was 10 days after my vaccination and not 14 even though they let me workout the day before and i was never asked about my Covid vaccination. On the lifetime app it doesn’t state anywhere that you need to wait 14 days after vaccination. Northbrook lifetime employees lack communication when it comes to local mandates. I would give them zero stars if I could. Management recently "rented" out a number of the indoor swim lanes to a local university swim team from 530-730 am every day of the week. The effect is 20+ swimmers in the pool area which does not feel safe to me in light of COVID (they also get out of the pool and walk around the deck to the swim start podiums). No notice was given that I am aware of and the timing is when most working professionals need access to the pool. I only use the membership for swimming. Be aware of this if you are interested in using the indoor pool for swimming in the morning.

If I could give you a zero star I would don’t pay cash for any training and if you do make sure you get a receipt The general manager good luck with him trying to handle anything I think there’s better gyms out there Like FFC it’s a shame that me and my wife had to leave the gym at least her trainer was honest my trainer was stealing from me. I really can’t believe the way they handle this after me and my wife used to train at least three times a week there we did the kids Camp all the money I spend in the club. And please do not waste your time calling customer service or corporate because they do not care about their Members.

Nicest place to workout in Northbrook. Forget the Y, the equipment there is old and the staff is so rude. Lifetime has clean and up to date machines, free weights, bikes, treadmills, smith machines, you name it - they have it. The staff is so welcoming and there to help. Not to mention the locker rooms and amenities are superb.

My name is Olga. My English probably not good enough but I will try to tell you what I really don’t like and what I I like about lifetime. 1. Yoga classes ... terrible experience ever! Yoga instructors never shows what to do they just talk what to do... but hey excuse me if I’m new in yoga how can I know what to do and what is right... when I talked with them about it they said look to another people what they do.. hey than why I need yoga instructor in class if I can look to another people. 2) when I came there I said I just visit this area and we leave in one month and Sara manager ok no problem let me know what you want to do in one week. Yes I forgot about it this ... so this morning I just saw money withdrawal from my card and when I asked them why they said it’s for membership and when I talked to Sara and she says yes you didn’t come to me and didn’t tell me and she is remember what I said to her one month ago that I will talk to my husband and let her know.. yes she remember what I said to her month ago but she even not remind me or just asked me what I want to do... you b know just be nice... all they care it’s just about money 💰 what I really like it’s summer camp for kids.. and people who works there so nice my daughter really loves it.. thank you 🙏 guys

The kids staff are great, swimming instructors are wonderful. I have a few issues: the place was obviously designed for people without children (in a town with 5,000 children, go figure). 1. No family swim except during the summer, now that you know that you have more children than planned, why wouldn't you change that? 2. The outside pool has no bathrooms nearby, so parents need to walk through the indoor pool all the way over to the women's locker room. 3. Family locker room has one bathroom stall. REALLY. 4. Pictures on their own website aren't actually of Northbrook. Why show a water slide if it's at another location?

Been a member for a week and joined with my wife and my 12 year old. I'll stay with the single fault I have and then the praise. Kids club great for little kids but 8 up is a no go. My 10 year old took one look and was like "no friggin way." Now to the good....
-Cleanest club I have ever been in and I've been to my fair share of them. From the workout floor to the locker rooms it is spotless. Equipment put away, no bad smells, steam room nicer than the 4 Seasons, etc
-I've been with 3 trainers already. All 3 have been great. Motivating, professional, and the session my son who is 12 had with Mike was possibly life changing for him.
-My wife got a massage and said the therapist, I think the name is Roman, was unbelievable. She knows what she talking about.
-Brand new equipment that is top of the line. Also, there is a lot of it. You won't be waiting on others to finish.

It's not cheap but it's not LA Fitness. If you use it it's worth it. It's a Health Club not just a gym. Everyone working there I've met is pleasant. I've done Midtown which is great if you play tennis but this place is nicer in every other way. The outdoor pool is just as nice as Midtown's as well.

The employees harass you if you look good. Their customer service does not care about the clients. The staff harasses you if you actually use your membership and workout regularly.
Showers have clumps of hair, used band aids and workout floor is the same level of cleanliness. It's a Red Roof Inn with a Ritz Carlton sticker.
Not worth it for full length lockers.

Low quality service. It was way overpriced and the master was rude because she started to work on my highlights and her next client showed up. She accepted next client within 20 minutes and I was sitting and my hair was burned. I would not recommend this place.

Absolutely beautiful facility. So well kept, the entire team is there to make your experience a great one. They work so hard to ensure your experience and time at the gym is great. I'm so happy I joined and will definitely continue my membership.

I was surprised of all these negative comments! True, place is not perfect but in comparison to other local choices, it is definitely one of the best. For those comparing it to The East Bank Club, look at the monthly cost and initiation fee. You might as well be comparing LA Fitness to Lifetime. I have been a member for few months now and truly enjoy my time there. My kids love swim lessons and kids academy. Pool area is clean and well taken care of. We took swim classes at YMCA in Northbrook and that pool and lockers were absolutely disgusting. Not to mention instructors here are well more qualified. Everyone at the kids academy is always so welcoming and nice. We go to Northbrook, Old Orchard and Vernon Hills locations all the time. Northbrook is by far the cleanest and most luxurious of these locations. Instructors are amazing (Ariele, Heather, Erin, Cheri....to name few) . Wish I had half of their stamina. All equipment is top notch and brand new. Overall there are always things to improve upon but I'm glad my kids are well taken care of while I work out.

Terrible management unprofessional-service!
Don't even consider getting a membership here.

I moved out of the states for a job opportunity and have contacted them numerous times asking to cancel my membership, they claimed I needed to come into the actual location and cancel it in person.
HOW CRAZY DO THEY SOUND?

I also sent 2 letters to the location stating the same exact issue, and what do they do? They show as if I checked into the actual gym to workout 2 times so they can charge my account.
FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD, this place is nothing but fraud.
Talip Tuksavul is my name, some of the employees will recognize it - you guys are scammers.

Joined up prior to opening and switched from Midtown. In common with other reviewers on here, I've been rather underwhelmed (for the price). My main quibble is that the marketing of this place is odd. We don't have kids, and find that many of the local Park District facilities are mainly designed around them; which is fair enough, and I'm glad they have great facilities to go to. When we looked at Northbrook, the salesperson that signed us up made a big play on how this club, by design, doesn't have a climbing wall, family pool, or a basketball court because they wanted to create an adult, spa-like vibe to a limited membership (hence the price). In reality I see the usual kid-centric approach, just without the infrastructure to support it. Half the lap pool is given to kids lessons and clubs during peak evening hours, and there's even a "Tween Takeover" event (shudder). If that's the reality, then why not go to the Vernon Hills club? That place has all the kid stuff (a large family pool, climbing wall, basketball courts) AND adult specific facilities (squash and racquetball courts, dedicated lap pool), AND it's $50 a month cheaper. Then my issue is that VH is too far for me to go regularly (which is why we didn't join there in the first place), so I'm wondering... do we just return to Midtown? Northbrook has a really confused marketing plan, that leaves me wondering who is it supposed to be for, and how is it supposed to justify the large on-cost vs. Vernon Hills? I'd also support the other comments on here about the crowded locker rooms and poor toiletry choices.

I really do like certain rooms and equipment they've finally started to provide but it's not worth $169+ a month for it not being 24hours really?! for $119 Skokie/vernon Hills are 24hrs hopefully they will catch on and upgrade the same equipment. Really wanted to come back but looks like I'll stick to Xsport Niles until Skokie gets new gear.

So I'll be honest,I live around the corner and I thought it would be better and more convenient, however I'd rather drive to Vernon Hills. The diamond name should be changed to copper, the staff is very unpleasant and absolutely cluess!Free weight room is terrible, locker room over crowded and food is terrible. Also they want you to upgrade from Onyx as if your a broke and dont deserve to share the same air as the diamond elites.Big mistake guys!

A real disappointment! Not worth the 33% premium!
First the good, the equipment is all new and functional, something not always true at other Lifetime locations.
So So things, the full length lockers are nice but in an effort to squeeze the same number of lockers into the space, they make the locker room feel very crowded. And the only mirrors are in sink area.
And now the BAD - The crowd is a mix of the very old and overweight. And it appears to have become the new home for the Northbrook Russian Mafia. For my money Vernon HIlls is much nicer and 1/3 cheaper.
