My daughter had horrible experience in this gym. 3 panic attacks and poorly educated people. They are really nice people at customer service but today o my God. One sentence I wasn't able to finish. 0 comparisons and she hung up instead to let me talk to manager. Never again.

Had a membership here for 2 years so I’ve seen almost everything this gym has to offer. The gym has many amenities and has more than enough equipment except for missing a few one off machines like a hack squat. However, the price of this gym is absurd and has nearly doubled since I joined the gym. I left this gym about a year ago and went to VASA and now pay 10 times less per month and get nearly the same experience. Lifetime is great, but they try to charge a premium price without providing much that differentiates them from a gym like VASA or LA Fitness. One month at lifetime is not worth 10 months at any other gym so save your money and go elsewhere.

Not recommending this place. Workout part was just ok, consider their membership is a lot more expensive than other gyms. Their childcare staff were not friendly and not attentive, very impatient. My kids were scared and not want to go after one time. The kids swimming class was a complete joke and waste of time-the instructors were chatting among themselves and just let kids play in the water most of the time.

Dorian and her staff did a wonderful job promoting and explaining everything about Lifetime. They welcomed my daughter and me with open arms. Love coming here after work to use the amenities and work out. With the update to the shower room though it’s very awkward and claustrophobic. The doors are mostly see through and leave very little room to move around or get to the stalls. Not a fan at all. As a guy chubbier guy who is self conscious trying to better myself this was not a good choice for the update.

Lately I cant help but notice a consistent, and deep sense of gratitude for lifetime, and especially my home gym in romeoville. I have been coming every day for about 3 years now, and i dread traveling and having to settle for gyms of lower quality. Every time I come to lifetime i feel so content, relaxed, happy, and grateful for the quality of the amenities, and therefore my ability to have a quality experience doing my gym routine. The concierge team has always been very warm, and that's very important to me. They provide excellent service! I have been to every lifetime in the state besides evanston, and this location has the best sauna. The yoga classes are really good, and the teachers are great. there seems like theres always a class ready for my when I want to attend. would say this location isnt the cleanest ive been to, but I wouldn't put that all on the operations team. the quality of members, and their gym etiquette is more of a problem in my opinion. I have noticed an increase in the quality of work of the operations team in the recent past as well. Lifetime is so much better than other gyms that ive experienced (ive been to and consistently go to alot) its not even close. I would be so pleased if they opened back up to 24 hours. I wont give up hope on that, and getting a cold plunge in place of one of the hot tubs😁 thanks for existing!

I no longer feel comfortable going to lifetime . I have been a loyal member since 2013 and I have never had a problem with anyone up until now , I usually go to the gym in the morning at 5am and the worker that is always there is MARGARITA , she always looks at me makes faces follows me almost stalking my every move. On August 26th,2025 I go to the gym like always at 5am I see MARGARITA but like always she makes faces looks at me but I think nothing of it , I finish my workout I go to shower and I go change in the dressing room when I was in there I heard her telling the other members that “she only comes here to shower” why is she telling other people my business????? I don’t say anything I keep changing while she’s out there talking for like 10+min with the members about me. When I come out she runs to the dressing room and proceeds to run to me in front of everyone and she accuses me of leaving towels on the floor , I always pick my towels up and this 1 time I left 1 towel because I was in a rush and didn’t see so she has to embarrass me in front of everyone? And why does it matter what I come here to do as long as I am paying for my membership I don’t think it’s any of her concern if I come here to just shower, and I don’t think it’s appropriate for her to be telling her friends my business! Oh and yes MARGARITA sometimes I do just go there to go in the steam room and shower because I CAN . Today on August 28th I go to the gym at 5am like usual and she is standing behind me while I dry my hair , she runs to the dressing room when I get out, she tells the other members to keep an eye on me make sure I don’t leave towels on the floor I feel like I’m being STALKED BY MARGARITA. I was drying my hair for like 10min and she was just there talking with other members while waiting for me . Is she getting paid to talk to people and follow others????? Oh and she talks about other people in Spanish thinking I didn’t speak Spanish but I do. I always hear her complain complain about everything: people leaving towels, her having to clean while other employees don’t do anything, the Music that lifetime chooses to play, I have heard every complaint of this woman because she just stands by me and talks to other members when she has a job to do ! Every time I’m there all she does is follow me and talk with other members and I barely see her do her job. I no longer feel comfortable going to the gym and I’m thinking about looking for another gym after 12 years of loyalty lifetime I am very upset today mostly because I suffer from social anxiety and feeling stalked is not a good feeling at all. Please talk to her I want to keep coming to my favorite gym I always recommend this gym to all my friends and family

Nice place. I been coming here since the beginning of this year. I love the new walls that have the plants on them. But why is it that suddenly, after all these months of being able to use both hydro massage chairs, the one lined up with the new plant walls is disconnected. The screen says "the board is disconnected, see front desk." But i just got off work and dont wana do all that :) so ima leave this here. And I'm still getting a massage with the other one so I'm happy about that, just find it odd that the other one is disconnected now.

To start the review, I love lifetime gyms. I have been a member since 2015. However, post covid rates went up to $150/month. $220 for my wife and I. The problem I have is the gym hasn’t upgraded anything to accommodate this hike and it is my time to CRASH OUT. I am into weight lifting and no matter what time I go in the morning 5-11am - I’m waiting 5-15 min for leg machines. The gym probably has 5k members and often have 1-3 popular machines for each body group (such as a leg extension, lying ham curl, abductors). You would expect etiquette to come along with people who are willing to pay $200 a month for a gym but people are often here legitimately texting while using these machines that are so limited. I’ve been at $10 gyms where people were nice and accommodating to working in together THAT HAD MORE MACHINES - but high prices bring entitled people. People will spend 25 minute on a hamstring machine curl to film themselves doing it. Science based literature says one doesn’t need 5 min wait time on an accessory muscle but people think it’s okay to spend 25 min on the only machine available for thousands of people. I don’t know a solution to this nor do I want to sound holier than thou but there is a severe lack of etiquette at this gym and investing money into more equipment would curb this. the Orland location has equipment this one doesn’t have such as a cybex hack and pit shark. A commercial leg extension can be bought for less than what I pay for this gym a year - so there’s no excuse not to invest in more equipment as the amount of members goes up. I have a home gym and think it’s time to invest into it more, some days my workout times are nearly doubled because of the lack of equipment. So, if you’re a working professional who needs to lift before work - this may not be the gym for you.

Price Hikes & Unusable Amenities

I joined Lifetime thinking I was paying for a premium gym experience, but it’s been nothing but disappointment. Since signing up, they’ve raised my rates three separate times with no real improvements to justify it. On top of the already high monthly fee, they nickel-and-dime members for almost everything — pool access, guests, group classes, even pickleball require extra charges.

The worst part? Many of the amenities aren’t even available to use. Weights are reserved for classes, the basketball courts are blocked off for kids club, and it often feels like the general members are last priority. I’m paying for a “full service” club but constantly find myself unable to use what I’m supposedly paying for. For the cost, you’d expect far better value and accessibility.

Would not recommend unless you’re okay with paying premium prices for very limited access.

Overall I am very happy with my experience at Lifetime. I am there when they open at 4 and the front desk staff are super friendly. I especially appreciate how friendly Isabel and Ruthie are in the morning. They always have a smile on their faces when they open. They gladly answer questions and address concerns. They are make sure the club opens on time. Many of us keep a tight schedule. Margarita and Jen have done a great job of keeping up with the women's locker room. It is unfortunate that there have been some occasions when we come in first thing in the morning, the locker room has not been cleaned the night before, which is unfair to them. They are working tirelessly to keep it clean.

Tammy is awesome, I was visiting my family in Illinois and was there for a few weeks. Really nice location, very friendly and professional staff. Gym ranges from various machines, tons of free weights, indoor and outdoor pool , nice sauna, nice locker rooms, studios are available too( with posted rules), you can also book sessions with licensed DPT’s, they do offer tons of classes too.
If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend checking the place out. Once again Thank you Tammy and Team 💪🏼

Absolutely a vile and disgusting gym. I’ve caught multiple infections, including what has now led to a chronic lifelong condition, from Lifetime. Unfortunately this condition I’ve obtained is incurable and I’m left with a constant pain throughout my day today for the rest of my life. And the managers/corporate couldn’t care any less. When presenting my situation to the gym, I’ve been completely ignored and nothing has been implemented to change the hygiene of the gym. I’ll forever be bitter towards LT for that reason alone.

I’ve been coming for years and the quality has just gotten worse and worse. I’ve brought up concerns to the staff on numerous occasions in hopes something would change but it falls on deaf ears. This location is run by mostly high school kids and the quality shows. For the price you pay, you’d expect the highest of standards and quality. By default; any commercial $1-$20 per month gym is light years cleaner than this place. The staff should be ashamed and honestly held accountable for their blatant disregard for sanitation. They’ll claim their “logs” are all documented and normal but you tell me what that water quality looks like to you.

I wish I had saved every picture I’ve shown staff over the years but beyond the neglect, the etiquette of members is absurd. People wiping their bottoms with towels and putting them back. People working out in sauna even though it says not to. Just a GROSS place.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and never go here.

You pay $150+ per month just for yourself plus more if you a family members. Hours have been cut from 24 hours. Children hours cut. Family swim ends at 6pm on a Sunday so I'm not allowed to take my 6 year old into the pool after dinner on a Sunday. Water pressure in the showers is almost none existent causing you to take longer than normal. For how much Lifetime charges it's members, especially members who bring children, they should extend their hours for child play area and pool hours. Their excuse is there isn't enough children showing up at those hours. With how much they charge, they can afford to extend hours for the members that would utilize it. But, all they want is your money.

I’ve been a member of Life Time Fitness since 2019, but I’ve finally decided to cancel my membership — and it’s not hard to see why. When I first joined, this gym was the gold standard: clean, well-managed, and genuinely premium. Unfortunately, over the years, Life Time has consistently raised prices while giving members less and less in return.

They’ve cut hours from true 24/7 access down to limited schedules. The swimming lanes are almost always booked with children’s classes during peak times, making member use nearly impossible. They also removed one of the two basketball courts to install a pickleball court, which would be fine — except the remaining court is constantly blocked off for day care groups or private events. They seem determined to maximize every inch of space for outside activities, even if it comes at the expense of paying members. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve gone in to shoot hoops only to find the court closed, then tried to swim — only to see three out of five lanes roped off for classes while the other two are overcrowded.

Cleanliness is another serious issue. The facility is outdated, locker rooms aren’t well maintained, and the new locker code system is unreliable — often failing to lock or unlock at all. Honestly, even the old key system worked better.

Life Time has shifted from being a top-tier fitness club to an overpriced, poorly managed facility that no longer delivers on its promise of a premium experience. I’m very disappointed with the direction this location has taken and finally had to let go — even after their warnings that I’d lose my “grandfathered” rate. To top it off, they require a 30-day cancellation notice, forcing me to pay for another month. It all feels money-driven and frankly shady.

UPDATE: I had to go back and change my rating. I walked in today determined one last time to get my BCBS membership (even without a tour scheduled which I was told I needed to do). The lady at the front desk saw my review and felt so sorry about my situation and she helped me right away. She even offered me a free lunch because she felt so bad! Super nice and very apologetic. The way that she was able to flip the situation and help me out immediately made me feel more reassured about getting a membership here. Very happy and now I’m officially a member! Thank goodness! Very glad she was able to help me!

Very upsetting. I’m trying to become a member through my BCBS insurance, but every time I go there they say their servers are down and I should call before coming in. Now I’m calling before coming in to see if their online servers are up amd working and they’re telling me I need to schedule a tour online to ensure that they have enough staffing. I then went online to schedule a tour and there was no availability the entire week. Not gonna lie, it seems like they’re doing everything they can to make me sign up online at the full rate instead of getting the BCBS discount.

Not their best location. The personal trainers are ok. I had a bad experience with one of the Pilates instructors since she was really pushing me to sign up for her class. She treated people she knew differently than people she didn’t know. The overall area is mostly clean but the pool deck outside and the women’s locker room are always messy and dirty. Towels are everywhere, hair is everywhere, used shavers and shaving cream all over the walls.. might be the guests but some of the employees don’t care and don’t do their job right. We had a terrible experience with the young summer job kids working at the pool outside as well. Came outside to enjoy the sun and the pool but they closed the deck at 6pm because 10miles away there was one lightning. One of them said they will need to close for half an hour as a precaution. Then after that half an hour, still closed, another employee said they actually meant one hour. Went to talk to front desk, thinking they will be more reasonable to talk to, but the lady there said they will not reopen that evening. Then she talked to the manager and came back with the information that they will open at 8pm. Mind you the deck closes at 9pm per the regular schedule. No coordination and extremely rude. The pictures clearly show no rain and a beautiful summer day, but when people don’t want to work, the members suffer the consequences. Would not recommend this location. The treatment is not worth the price you will be paying and is constantly going up.

I love working out in the early am. The morning crew is Amazing hard the morning Custodian is amazing she is hard working keeps the locker room clean. ***Attention management*** The front desk is always friendly. Childcare & swim lessons are great. The swim staff really stepped it up the other day when i seen them scrubbing & cleaning the floors. I don’t mind paying a high monthly premium but expect high standards. Let’s not let this gym fall into the LA fitness and Xsport category as far as cleanliness & lack of upkeep. Keep on top of your staff to ensure they are constantly cleaning and putting away stuff. Too many employees seen hanging out. So much cleaning and sanitizing needed. Should be nonstop and all over. I’ve been quote impressed lately and observed a cleaning crew arrive near the end of the night to brush and clean the ceilings, vents, ect. The bathrooms could always use a boost. Lead by example and not from the office. Exercise machines need to be constantly cleaned. Upstairs bathroom soap dispenser handle broken. Mop the floors. Lastly, when guys come walking in the gym quickly, wearing hoody’s, glasses and headphones (stop them to verify they are actually members & not using their buddies barcode to scan in). You’d be surprised how many people sneak in that way because they know you’re too shy to say anything.

The facility is the best in the area, but make sure to check the SGT schedule so you aren’t working out while a class is going on. The trainers’ shouts and bellows are insufferable and extremely distracting. It’s not the volume - it’s their vocal cadences that completely dominate the soundscape of the workout floor, even drifting downstairs to the lobby areas. HUGE drawback to an otherwise great gym.

Besides this location being very old and not having any upgrades. It is very dirty. Lots of mold and mild dew in the grout in the showers. You need to deep clean regularly, which you can see they do not. The showers have a funky smell also. The fact that this location doesn't have a glass shower door like others is cheap. The shower heads and water pressure is very poor also. The hot tub is not hot/clean. You have men inside shaving their bodies everywhere including in the steam room which is disgusting. Also, you should tell people not to put their gross oils on top of the steam room spout because it's ignorant. People in this locker room act like it is their bathroom at home. The pool water itself is milky and too warm. Lots of dust in the vents all over the gym and old rusted lights by the pool etc. The sauna needs to be cleaned /restored especially if you look at the floor between the wood boards it's gross. And the wood boards move around and klunk so much when people walk. Definitely not worth the price you pay each month. Lifetime get yourself together…

I’ve been a part of Life Time for about 2 years now. My biggest reason is pickleball! There is such an amazing community who I am grateful to call all my friends there. Everett runs the different programs like tournaments, mixers, drills, etc and he does an amazing job. They run smooth & they’re a ton of fun. The other pickleball workers, Mark, Mark and Nick are also all amazing. If you're looking for a place to get a good workout in at a clean, friendly gym who has an awesome pickleball program, look no further!

I have bad experience.First of all, the workers there don't know how to do a decent job and they don't have training on how to notify a customer that you need to cancel the subscription. And secondly, it's very dirty, especially in the gym, there's dust everywhere, zero hygiene. What about the pool, it smells very strongly of chlorine, it stings your eyes and my child has an allergy. I do not recommend this room and it is not worth the money.

Doren, the front desk manager. This lady I highly recommended to be transferred to manage the locker room or as far as possible from customers. Today she made our visit to the Cafe miserable just like her personality. We only wanted to grab a snack from the Cafe as we are neighbors we work next door. Upon arrival I told her we're only here for the cafe to grab a snack "to go". She was very unfriendly and started blasting her coworkers how they are not doing their job for letting anyone near the Cafe without the check in protocol where they want your personal information ID's etc which is understandable when you want to use the facilities. However we only wanted a snack from the Cafe. She made a scene in front of the many people arround to making us look like criminals for wanting to enter the Cafe without a membership? Even if that's the policy there is a more humane way to explain the rules or not ? The sadest part was that was the manager supposed to guide the other employees?The lady working next to her was extremely polite and she apologized to me about the scene her manager did. After my friend provided ID just to please this annoyed women she than asked me for the same protocol?? Just to buy a wrap to fill two full on applications etc., After I refused in front of all the people she lost it and escalated the situation telling me I have to wait outside for my friend????
She told me to step outside and wait. Like she will call the security on me :)

I did stepped outside and departed Life time one way for life:) I will never ever again visit any of this outdated, poorly managed places filled with negative energy ever again.

"I think the children's section needs development. Names like 'Brain Games' and 'Create and Build' don't appeal to 9-12 year olds. It's ironic that they're offered activities like painting, which is more suitable for preschoolers. My kids aren't interested in attending. During Parents Night Out, there are many employees standing idle, despite tasks that need attention. My children felt awkward and shy, waiting on the sidelines until someone told them what to do. "Receive any guidance or engaging activities. I'm disappointed and considering my decision to enroll them. With so many online resources available, it shouldn't be difficult to develop creative games and activities for children."(for schaumburg location and for Romeoville)

I like the equipment and gym but I think the steam room should be a little cleaner and some of the machines are creaking. Also the wet wipes for cleaning never get replaced, but besides that it’s good
Edit: pickleball is now pay to play everyday and it’s still not a 24 hour gym. And a lot of the equipment is worn. And the food is expensive

The indoor lap pool could and across the board for all LTF clubs be revamped. Virtually no one utilizes them as 1) the water T is ALWAYS too cold 2) the area is poorly lit, dark, dank and very un inviting. The decks are often littered and the floors not the cleanest.
What would help is to have an agreed upon reconstruction at the corporate level to have the ceiling over the lap pools covered with clear plexaglass that gives the feeling of openness with the ability for sun to pour through.Just a thought. Definitely have the water temp of the indoor lap pool more comfortable.
3) stop the traffic of members running from the saunas (some still with their workout clothes on and very sweaty) from jumping into the lap pool to cool off and then repeating the activity! The same with hot tub users..
SHOWERS NEED TO BE ENFORCED BETWEEN ACTIVITIES AND NO SHIRTS OR CLOTHING EXCEPT FOR BATHING SUITS SHOULD BE ALLOWED.
All it takes are shifts of 1 person at a time for a few hours at a time to sit and monitor the indoor pool areas which means taking away 5 people from folding towels.
The morning shower girl is the only one I see who is moving constantly and alone! She is a fabulous hard worker.
If the above were implemented I’d come year round rather than just in the summer when the outdoor pool is open to swim laps.

Wouldn't recommend this gym. My sixteen year old daughter wanted to use the pool with her brother, but they wouldn’t let her even step foot in the gym. She’s old enough to drive but not use the facilities. Ridiculous!

Steadily going downhill.. people on their phones instead of working out on machines, bench areas always packed, trainers/customers in their socks or bare feet, at times a boom box in the middle of the gym when there is already music going on the main speakers, trainer yelling at his class in the middle of the gym while ur trying to get a workout in, unclean areas, plates/garbage all over the place at times, bathroom runs out of watery foam soap and/paper towels, urinals overflowing with paper towels .. disappointing. If there was a charter in close proximity id join that.. at least then you wouldn’t be paying the premium of a pool or sports courts I don’t use.

Pass if there is an alternative, I been to better life times, this one is just ran very lazy and no attention to detail … honest 2024 review. For the price I expect way better

I’ve been coming to Lifetime for a while now. I pay for me and my 3 children out of pocket no insurance my hard earned money. I had my daughter and have been on leave so I called and asked if payments can be taken out when I’m paid on the 15 or 20th of every month. Well today I came in and was approached aggressively by a man at the counter named Jason. Later I found out that he was the GM. I know that LIFETIME makes enough money to train its staff on member etiquette. He was rude and loud saying that I owed money and when I wanted to take care of it and I repeated 3x that I would make a payment later. He was loud and rude like I owed him money personally or something. Do better!

This fitness club is among the best I've ever been, but not a safe place. Unfortunately, my credit cards were stolen from the locker, and the person who did it, even removed the SIM card from my phone to prevent receiving bank notifications about the unauthorized transactions. Despite reporting the incident to management, they delegated the investigation to the police. However, the police were unable to take action since the locker rooms lack surveillance cameras. It seems that they have been more cases of this kind on this location. Be aware!

Canceling my membership at this gym is a Herculean task. The process is deliberately convoluted, with hidden fees and paperwork that rivals a government bureaucracy. It's as if they make quitting intentionally difficult to trap you in this fitness nightmare. Avoid this place at all costs. it is impossible to cancel a subscription. You must call them every month to cancel it. They will tell that the subscription was canceled and will charge you again next month.

To give 5 stars missing only Cold plunge and will be nice to have couple showers with only cold water, I can’t find any shower with cold water in this gym! Most gyms have 2 jacuzzi's, possible make 1 with cold plunge? Will be awesome @lifetime.life Cold plunging has shown the abilitv increase vour baseline dopamine. Dopamine is the molecule in our brain and body that is linked to motivation.

Sad to see this one get not cared for as much as it did before covid pandemic. Went to take a shower well the showers were so nasty! They either need to keep up the cleaning or get new people or something. There was globs of hair in every shower 🤢🤢🤢. I think there was dried blood on a curtain I’m not even sure it was red and dried looking. Towels everywhere and razors customers left everywhere. I don’t recommend showering here. I’ve been coming here for years. I’ve been training with Jake for the past few months and been seeing great results. He listens to my goals and goes above and beyond.
Kids academy is great, staff is amazing and offer fun classes for the kids to try.
I’ve never had a bad experience in the spa, everyone is very knowledgeable and takes their time with you.
The aquatic instructors are incredible! Classes are only 2-3 kids so they can have better focus on each child.

Lifetime is by far my favorite gym. Basketball, racketball, pickle ball, olympic swimming pool, kiddie pool, steamroom, dry sauna, lockless lockers and a multitude of weights and workout machines. This place has almost everything youre looking for. Prices and service are a bit lacking but I dont go to the gym to pick and and choose at how people act. I hope they can go back to 24 hours. ( They close at 12:00am and reopen at 3:34am for cleaning) I cant knock that too much because the gym does seem a bit cleaner than the previous years when I was a member around 2010. Great equipment and front desk staff is always friendly. Unfortunately, the up stairs weight area is frequently dirty and the studio room mirrors often have hand/ grease marks on them. I workout between 7 AM- 8:30 AM, so the mess has to be there from the day prior. I love Lifetime fitness! Specially my club (Romeoville)!! I lost my phone this morning and was going crazy! The managers came to help me find it🤦🏾‍♀️ Specially Jason! I am writing to express my disappointment with the front desk staff, specifically Tammy. On Feb,1, Tammy shouted my name in the hallway and ran after me, which was extremely embarrassing. This is not the first time I have experienced Tammy's unprofessional behavior and attitude.

As a member of your club, I expect to be treated with respect and dignity. Tammy's actions are unacceptable and do not align with the standards of customer service that I expect from a fitness club. What a shame that such luxurious gym treats their customers poorly. First, they don’t clearly explain their policy for cancellation and regardless of an emergency, they will NOT cancel the membership or help you in any way. I normally go to the Orland park gym but today I came to this one and was blown away. For a gym that's only closed for 4 hours the facilities were almost sparkling lol. Anytime the towel bins were full they were taken care of. The spa area was clean as well and the bathrooms were well stocked and cleanly. While I didn't use the weights this visit I did take look and there weren't too many people using them but unlike other locations this one actually had cleaning supplies everywhere you look. I also forgot to mention the staff was very friendly/helpful to me. Overall I enjoyed my visit and I think I'll make this my permanent location.

I began at lifetime a month or two ago and so far have no complaints! I use the Romeoville location primarily and it is always incredibly clean and orderly, all of the equipment is functional, basic membership is very reasonable though extra services quickly become a little extreme price wise.
