Be careful in this gym - people’s belongings get stolen. My sneakers and AirPods were taken, and the staff didn’t provide any real help. Keep your valuables with you at all times.

Very large fitness center with just about any exercise machine and equipment at your disposal. Staff is friendly and keeps the place clean. Love the sauna and indoor pool too. My only complaint is that for the price, it could at least be 24/7, I know it used to be, but closing at 10pm on weekends sorta stinks for those that don't work M-F 9-5 jobs.

Jane Clark is simply an amazing trainer. I’ve worked with her closely for many years and she has exceeded my expectations in every way.
She is extremely diligent in putting together a plan for her clients, takes extra time to make sure everything is clear and well understood, and is very knowledgeable all around.
Thank you Jane, for being an amazing trainer. You are a great asset to Lifetime!

I enjoy working out at Lifetime. The equipment is state of the art. From the time you enter the parking lot through the entry , locker rooms, shower, jacuzzi, steam, sauna, pickleball and basketball courts and workout area's are immaculate!! There is always staff maintaining the facility. When leaving I feel totally rejuvenated.

I’ve talked to the front desk three times about the bad smell in the family changing rooms and the ants on the floor and around the pool. Nothing has changed. I’m very disappointed.
The customer service is poor, and it’s frustrating to pay $350 a month for this kind of experience.

We’ve been going to Life Time Schaumburg for almost a year and absolutely love it!
Great gym, clean and spacious. The Kids Academy is amazing — our children love it, and we feel confident leaving them there. I also enjoy the comfortable workspace for getting things done.

Lifetime fines the time to increase memberships but can't find reliable employees to open the gym on time. Very disrespectful for people waking up at 3am to make it to gym at 4am. Corporate seriously needs to get involved and look into this. Not OK.....why is thay every morning I get to the gym the weights are continuously re-arranged like no reason for the weight to be moved...such an inconvenience. Like now they moved all the kettlebell far away from where they use to be.

Used to be a better gym. Staff seems to be indifferent. Have gone through two membership increases so obviously they don't lock your rate in. Lifetime has recently changed out equipment for a specific brand that they must be getting a deal on but now places you in the position where you have to use that brand or you are out of luck.
Update 11/25: Just received third membership increase. Left a message with the GM who ended up having someone else call me back and this individual said that there's nothing they could do to help in any way with any of my concerns, just that he was told to call to see what I wanted. Will be cancelling my membership.

Edit: lost 2 star ab dollys are half broken lots of benches are off center and wobble. Lots of times small towels upstairs just not available at all. Steam sauna needs a deep cleaning mildew smell is pretty harsh.
Positive things:
Grace at front desk is super positive and always very chipper when checking in always good to have a great attitude when coming in. New blue mats are great after having cracked broken ones for a long time.
Edit: 80% of the morning staff is AMAZING big thank you to Will and Vanessa absolute paragon of gratitude and support towards their customer service levels I wish all the staff would have this attitude!!
Edit : The cleaning in the morning is far superior to those at night it stinks at night. The mirrors have been shattered for several days now as well. (Mirror has been fixed) (Still smells pretty bad on the main floor.)
Edit : Cleaning supplies for machines for member usage has been awful lately. Almost never refilled wipes for machines. Mandatory mask wearing is fine but makes exercising on treadmills more strenuous. However the group classes and one on ones I've noticed barely have their masks on and are not warned about it like the rest of members (this should be treated fairly across the gym!)
Edit : Child was left unattended for swim class for almost a full minute he is 4 years old this has happened twice. The last straw us they are firmly enforcing that parent must be in the water with child before class and cannot come early to mess about
. Company refused to refund rest of month. I was told this is their policy firmly which is fine.
Edit: front desk Vanessa so positive in the morning starts the whole day off wonderful.
Majority of morning staff is awesome. Added stars.
Edit: star added ** small things like deodorant added back and extra clean areas morning crew on point. Will probably the best motivation front desk / trainer I've ever met. Guy is an absolute asset.

It’s frustrating their guest policy even though we pay such a high membership. They should be more lenient. Taking a guest every 60 days feels a bit too strict. The manager is also rude and indifferent, not flexible at all when I tried bringing my parents in for a visit. I see the benefits for members, but that’s also a reason why I’m moving to a different gym!

If I’m late, I’d be charged—yet my provider kept me waiting over 15 minutes (twice now) with no apology and no adjustment. Today I showed up early for my 12:00 appointment and was still sitting there at 12:17 while she chatted at the desk. My time matters too, and it’s clear it’s not valued here. I’ll be booking elsewhere from now on. Thanks LifeSpa

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Luke Sauerland as a personal trainer for our son at the Life Time Schaumburg location, and I want to highlight the exceptional level of professionalism and care he brings to every session.
Despite his young age, Luke demonstrates a maturity and dedication that truly sets him apart. He took the time to carefully evaluate our son’s diet and made thoughtful, effective recommendations that have already shown positive results. We’ve worked with several nutritionists in the past, but Luke’s ability to combine nutritional guidance with genuine care and attention makes him stand out.
He also takes our input seriously when it comes to exercise goals, and tailors his training approach to meet our son’s specific needs. What impressed us most was when he asked for the contact information of our son’s endocrinologist so he could better understand the medical context. Most professionals wouldn’t take that extra step, but Luke did — a testament to both his professionalism and compassion.
Beyond his expertise, Luke has formed a bond with our son that we deeply appreciate. He treats him like the older brother he’s always wanted — offering encouragement, support, and positive motivation in every session. That personal connection has made a real difference in our son’s confidence and enthusiasm toward fitness.
We are truly grateful for the impact Luke has had on our son’s health journey, and we look forward to continuing to work with him.

As a dedicated yoga practitioner, I’ve been consistently disappointed with the yoga experience at Lifetime Fitness Schaumburg. One of the biggest issues is the condition of the provided yoga mats…many times, they have a strong, unpleasant odor that makes it difficult to focus during class. Cleanliness should be a priority, especially in a wellness-centered space.
Most recently, I attended a Saturday morning yoga class where, unfortunately, the instructor never showed up. There was no announcement or communication and no one available to provide coverage. Many members had made the effort to be there early for the class. That level of disorganization is unacceptable, especially considering the price of membership.

I wanted to simply check out the gym before potentially signing up, but was shocked to find out they charge $50 just to enter, with no option to even look around or try the equipment. On top of that, the person at the front desk was extremely rude and dismissive, as if they were doing me a favor by speaking to me at all. With that kind of attitude and zero flexibility for new visitors. Definitely not recommended.

Today was my first day here. No one offered to show me around and this location definitely needs a guide around.
HOWEVER, Personal Trainer Shareef Chandler-El took it upon himself to tell me all the ins and outs and where to go for everything. This honestly meant so much as I needed help and he made me feel comfortable.
Due to his compassion, I can see why people would want him as a personal trainer and why he makes a quality employee. If it is your first day, go upstairs and find him and he will help!

This place is a complete disaster of miscommunication.
First, their web site doesn’t work when u have to make a membership sign up, then in their support call they tell you to show up in person , but when you go there, and they drag you into some check-in “procedure” just to sign in — because their website again doesnt work. As a result, every single time you have to waste hours explaining to the front desk that you’re ALREADY MEMBER, and everything was already paid for, you just have to wait till the goddamn meeting w their SIGN UP papers. It’s exhausting.
Any motivation to come here dies the moment you deal with reception — they’re completely clueless.
And also when you call the manager to explain everything and find out why they are doing it and why THEY CAN NOT EVEN write ur NAME properly, the manager Tim prefer to hung up instead of solving the problem
Thanks
We never will be back to this place

I’ve observed the kids academy numerous times and let me say it is not up to the standard Life Time sets. First of all, there are supposed to be classes the kids are doing. Those do not exist. The kids show up and it’s a free for all where they’re hitting, biting, or swearing at other children. Toddlers are screaming and crying and sitting in poop diapers because the academy doesn’t call parent to change them. The manager Sarah demeans and screams at all of her employees and threatens her supervisors to sign parents up for Parents Night Out. The teenagers who work in the academy are on their phones, taking pictures of children, or sitting against the wall talking to their friends. I’ve seen instructors fall on children, grab children aggressively, and yell at them for no reason. I stopped bringing my child here after observing all of these behaviors. It’s sick and you should find a membership somewhere else

I joined mostly for swimming and I've been told that adult pool is for swimmers and that the other pool is for kids but salesman missed to say there are swimming lessons every day between 4 and 8 pm in adult pool and than half lanes are closed ( 4-8 when most people are coming after work) . Also, bathrooms are dirty and smell really bad, and the gym itself has some smell that you can feel on your skin even after taking a shower. I was a member in Burr Ridge location, and this one is nothing like that one. For upscale gym and that is what you are selling here, 1 star is reality.
Rating is for facility only, staff is super nice and 5 stars for all of them.

The locker rooms (women, men, and family locker room) reeks of urine and you can see that it’s not clean, even after the gym’s staff will says otherwise. We’ve endured the rising costs the limiting of facility use, all the closings and “remodeling” The staff is negligent (they shouldn’t be with the amount they ask for membership). Join at your own risk.
In case you’re wondering, I’ve already cancelled and joined another club.

I asked permission to play pickleball from a girl who coached very nice a few minutes later a boy comes who said he is a coach there , he started yelling to send us home, spoke very aggressively less and hit us , he said I booked, we forgot on the application and it wasn't booked , the new girl gave us permission to play even though it was a league, she said that they are not human and we can play if we want , he spoke very badly in a rude tone, all the people looked at him even from the basketball court , please check the video cameras . and taking measures is not normal like that you have to talk nicely with customers , congratulations for the cleanliness for the lovely people at the entrance , I speak very nicely thank you 🙏

This gym used to be great but now there are so many things wrong with this gym after Covid, fitness is not 24/7 anymore. Prices continued to rise despite less hours, broken equipment, broken saunas and dirty machines. Fitness trainers are negligent to their clients and just stare into their phone during the client’s entire workout. Front desk workers have become rude, and give a huge attitude when you don’t have the app on your phone, don’t have your card with you, or want to bring a guest. It is not that hard to type a guests name into the computer to check them in. Next, there is always an issue when it comes to putting a membership on hold or adding or removing a family member, every time I make changes to my account the prices somehow end up going up. The front desk and management is extremely incompetent. Again this gym used to be great but not anymore.

This is in regards to some of the personal trainers I have seen working in the Schaumburg location. One time I watched as this one trainer's client was doing a squat press with some dumbbells. The client was working hard and I just watched in amazement as the trainer wasn't even watching him, he was just looking at his phone during numerous exercises. I also have seen this particular trainer doing the same thing when he was training other people.
The other day I saw this older woman who was definitely out of shape walking holding a medicine ball. It was really disturbing as this trainer (a different one then the above mentioned), was walking about 6-8 feet in front of her just looking at his phone. Not paying any attention to his client. The lack of attention and focus of these trainers is borderline negligent. The worst part is these clients are paying them for this.
I have seen trainers that actually pay attention to their clients at the club, but some of these trainers really need a refresher course on how to put their phones away and pay attention to their clients when they are training.

Used to be a member here. Yesterday I came here with a buddy of mine and the blonde lady at the front desk was very rude. Telling members they need to move out of the way and making everything very confusing. After downloading the app and going through the guest pass process, she completely ignores us and goes to do something else. I proceed to walk away and have had no issues. Later she comes and tells us we are “abusing” the guest pass. Due to her ignorance and lack of comprehension and competence, she is trying to instigate problems. She should really redo her training and learn to treat others better, or not be in the customer service industry. Blonde lady at front desk.

The prices are way high for the service they provide. They added extra classes that you have to pay for which are not included in a membership that already costs an arm and a leg. Plus they're limited in what hours you can bring your kids to the outside pool which is ridiculous because if I'm paying for service I expect to use it from beginning to end. Even though I'm watching my child who passed their swimming lessons, I cannot have her in the outside pool next to me unless there is a lifeguard present. The problem with this rule is it's not stated anywhere except when you walk through the door so it just depends on who you get on whether the rule applies or not

**Edit: I moved and just visited this place for the first time in a year and it’s crowded beyond belief. It’s still a lifetime so it’s better than most gyms in the area. The Algonquin Lifetime is rarely this busy. Maybe worth the drive.
This is my place of ultimate self care/self love. The facility is super clean and provides a plethora of products/services. I forgot my flipflops a few times and did not feel completely gross walking around barefoot, it was unusually comfortable as I’ve usually opted not to shower at any other gym should that happen. Obviously during peak times, it’s very crowded but there are enough machines and space that you aren’t twiddling your thumbs. The staff is really nice and always accommodating. I had an assessment and training with Cesar and he was awesome. He showed me how to use different machines and proper form when lifting. I’m already quite active, I work out 5-7 times a week, sometimes twice a day. The hot tub and sauna are always on point (especially after the sauna got fixed) and there to soothe my muscles after working out and on my rest days. Keep up the good work!

We told the manager that how come we weren’t aloud to wear this but some lady in the pool was aloud to wear a t shirt in the Pool. Again, really stupid rule because we were completely covered. Definitely won’t be coming back.

Such a friendly and wonderful staff. I’ve shown up at many different times, from 4am to 11pm at night and the staff is consistently welcoming. Kids academy is well worth that freedom to workout and the staff do their best to help you get at least 20 mins of work with a clingy toddler. The facility is kept very clean and there are no funky smells like other gyms. Every equipment you could ask for is available and in vast quantity. The only issue I have are the members and their gym etiquette. They leave plates and weights. They intrude your workout space to hang from your cage you’re on or attempt to grab a bar whilst in the middle of OH presses. You would never see this at other gyms. Aside from those few rude people, it’s a great club.

Update after 1 year:
As all are mentioning, the cost increase. I don't see why aside from corporate greed. Not much progression. I don't see this as a GM or staff level problem, it is a Corporate level problem... When is the last time someone from Corporate came at 5pm on a weekday ? Equipment is still very dated, gym is still dirty. (Example: Leg curl bars are all crooked, lots of machines have extra slack in the wire ropes and/or show bare metal, many clips missing on cable machines/towers.) Last week I went to use the bathroom and there was no toilet paper in the single stall bathroom upstairs, this is unacceptable and gross. A few stop-gaps added for "Alpha" training (cheap racks for rack pulls, stiff legged deadlifts and possibly squats) but this place needs a serious equipment overhaul and needs more equipment added, there is plenty of floor space. Moving a cable tower from one end of the gym to the other doesn't improve anything.. ADD MACHINES and push the "Alpha" training back 15-20 feet.
If you plan to workout around 4:00pm-7:00pm on weekdays it is WAY too busy.
Stop allowing personal trainers from other gyms into the facility to train clients. Stop allowing people to setup tripods to record themselves. Update the rules on the wall and actually enforce them.
Update 2 years later:
Life time is much more expensive now, some marginal improvements have occurred but if I wasn't grandfathered into my rate I wouldn't sign up..
Let's start from the front door and go from there...
1) I am happy to see a GM change has occurred. The previous one walked around entitled and looked down on members unless you were in her clique. The previous GM did as little as possible to keep this location going vs others I've seen over the years.
2) This is odd and not what I expected at all but the men are very nice at the entrance, the women are not nice at all, they are cold and quiet. No welcome, nothing. Especially the blonde one, she has pissed off my wife multiple times and doesn't make you feel welcome to the club. Put people with personalities at the front desk, PLEASE.
3) I refuse to use the locker rooms, the last time I went in there the toilet was full of feces and toilet paper up to the rim of the toilet.. Gross.
4) Going upstairs: MAJOR improvements across the board. The floor layout is much better vs. previous years. The leg extensions and leg curl bars are all crooked / bent, whatever the replacement routine/timeline is on that bar should be cut in half. For safety I believe all the machinery should have tape or some type of boundary on the floor to ensure safety. Example: The Hoist Lat Pulldown machine near the Hip Adduction machine. I witnessed someone with their hands on the hip adduction and someone used the hoist lat pulldown, the persons hand was nearly crushed when the house lat pulldown was used... Get these machines away from each other before someone losses a finger.
5) Staff: The decline in trainers that are professionals have decreased in a huge way over the years. None of the trainers there have a passion for the industry. None of them seem happy at all. This shouldn't be a "part time" gig. Life Time is a top of the line club, put some emphasis on having personal trainers that people actually want to work with and personal trainers that don't just walk around with cold faces and dark energy.
6) We still have people setting up tripods and/or recording themselves while others are forced to be in the background and posted online. Why do we have to deal with this? Please actually take action against people not following rules, including using Chalk, carrying huge bags, and people that are using the equipment in a dangerous way. (What's with the guy that uses the pull-up bar on the safety rack as a jungle gym twirling over the pull-up bar?. There is NO WAY that Life Time's insurance covers this type of training. The guy is going to fall one day and break his neck. DO NOT ALLOW THIS. It will end badly, life time will be sued and we will all end up paying.

Love this gym. Pretty clean and love the classes. However I did a intro with a trainer. We did maybe 2 workout machines and then talked the whole times. He pressured me into signing up when I told him I can’t with my finances at the moment. We did our session today and I’m very disappointed because he was running late and we did maybe 5 workouts.

I was member 7 years, unfortunately after covid everything changed for worse
:-(unfortunately. I had to change for Vasa gym is clean easy access for classes, very professional, knowledgeable and friendly employees. The gym is similar as life time and plus Vasa gym has redlight therapy help with sore muscles arthritis, muscles stimulation etc. And price is great. If people give you one star u should think what is wrong. 7 years it
was great now is horrible. Also I had serious injuries ended up on wheelchair ♿️ 2 years
and I had to cancel membership. Then I asked for ,if I can get my old membership back.Answer no I'm sorry u can't. I feel disappointed after so many years u treat clients like that. Very disappointing.

Previously had family membership but had to cancel during Covid. Bought a day pass recently and took my kids in to use the pool and wanted to ask about possibly joining the club again. I was very surprised to hear that the price had increased 70%. And the lady at the front desk seemed like she didn’t really want to explain to me in detail about starting the membership again. She just told me the total amount of $270 for a family of 4 and that was it.
The pool water quality was disgusting. When I used my goggles to swim underwater, I was not able to see anything. Water was extremely murky and cloudy. I would not pay a family membership fee of $270/month to let my kids swim in that kind of water. Very disappointed.

Been to many Lifetime's and this one is by far the best setup(and the cheapest!)
FYI: I go somewhere around 11am-4pm usually.
Tons of squat racks, benches, machines, and dumbells.
Cardio machines face one direction so you don't have to exchange eye contact with others(Something I found weird at other locations).
Showers and sauna are always clean.
Great staff: I'd like to mention that the front desk is always filled with energetic staff and is a great start to my workout. As for trainers, I'd highly recommend Ryan and Ivo if you're looking to build muscle or lose weight.
If you want the best results and the highest intensity, Ryan Lew is your guy. He will make sure that every second of your training will be put to tearing your muscles. The support also goes past the session, so he will communicate with you to check in with your goals and answer any questions you have.
On the other hand, if you value someone with a great set of knowledge in the fitness world, while also being open to talking about soccer/boxing/fun topics/etc. between sets, Ivo is the one to go for. You can't go wrong with these two.
Overall, everything beats my expectations and if I could criticize anything with this location, it would be that the wet wipes have been out a few times when working out and the towel sizes seem to be random in the locker room so sometimes they are too small and sometimes they are just right when using the sauna. Not a big deal though :)

On January 16, my The North Face parka was stolen from the coat rack in the women's dressing room. My house keys and wallet were in my coat pocket. Fortunately, our house key had an airtag and we could track it. We immediately complained about the situation to Life Time and the police, and reports were preperad. Meanwhile, while I was trying to follow my coat and other belongings from the airtag, we discovered that the thief left ONLY my wallet and keys in the women's locker room after almost 1 hours later and ran away again. There are cameras everywhere, from the outside of the locker room to the main entrance. Life Time said that the camera footage was given to the police, but Life Time said that they could not do anything else. Did not care about the issue at all. What a pity. Take care of your belongings closely because no one takes responsibility if they are stolen! And the loss is your loss.

I recently visited this location and was disappointed to observe a concerning hygiene issue. It appears that the same towel is being used for cleaning both the facility and customers, which is not only unhygienic but also quite off-putting. I believe it's crucial for the management to address this issue promptly and ensure separate towels are used for cleaning purposes. Maintaining proper hygiene standards is essential for the well-being of customers and staff alike, and I hope to see improvements in this regard soon.

My wife and I have been a member of Life Time Schaumburg for 3 weeks and on Tuesday this week my wife and I had a horrible experience here. My wife had hung her long overcoat on the hangers in the women's locker room because the lockers are small and these coats don't fit. After training we realized that my wife's coat had been stolen, including her IDs, her wallet and our house key. We told the officials and asked for help to find the jacket, but they said that a police report had to be filed first. Fortunately the key had an Airtag on it and we were able to track the location of the coat. About an hour later the thief came back to Life Time and left the key, id and wallet but not the coat. We asked the Life time staff to look at the CCTV footage and they said that only the general manager could look at it and he was not there and they would share it with the police. Everything would have been much worse if the thief had not returned the wallet and key. Two days ago my wife met with the general manager and told her that we were victimized and that we should be compensated. But the general manager said that since they offer a locker service, they will not cover this theft. This is complete nonsense. You can solve this with the cooperation of camera recordings and the police and compensate us from the thief. If you cannot do this, you should cover us as an institution! This does not look good for Life Time, which we are members of because we trust it. I can no longer recommend anyone to become a member and trust here, we will tell everyone we know about this incident and we are announcing it to you here so that Life Time will be ashamed!

Lifetime continues to provide increasingly poor service. Why do you turn off the dry sauna around 11pm? Isn't this location open until 12 on weekdays? Is it a joke? Twice I noticed that the sauna was very cold for no reason. The heaters have been turned off. Since one of my friends who came to the gym knew how to turn it on, we turned it on again and waited for 45 minutes for the sauna to heat up. Why do you turn off the heaters of the dry sauna some days around 11pm? If you want us to cancel our membership, there are more polite ways to say it.

I have been using this location for many years. There is a meaningless problem that started before New Year's Eve and is still ongoing. I go to the gym in the evenings due to my working hours. Starting before New Year's Eve, the LifeTime Schaumburg location turns off the sauna heat at 11 p.m. Sauna heaters were turned off for no reason twice last week and once before New Year's Eve. This gym closes at 12 o'clock, but why do the sauna heaters turn off at around 11 o'clock? Me and a few of my friends are going to the gym to use the sauna. With each passing month, LifeTime Schaumburg continues to provide worse service. The strange thing is that they do not turn off the sauna heaters every day, but some days according to their wishes. Soon, I will be watching when they will turn off the lights, running water and some equipment according to their wishes. But I think it's best to cancel my membership.

The owner Jason showed no remorse for the incident.
They allowed a nonmember to enter the gym.
He is a danger to my kids and my family in here.
Several people got robbed 10/04/23 .
I was robbed for over 17,000 dollars and a omega watch
Lifetime refused to pay this having to sue them.
I would be very careful in this gym as it happens a lot and they do not care.
The pretended to help just to have. A month pass and tell me they are not liable after they literally left a guy inside the building that is not a member.

I travel all around the Chicago region and the country for work and have been to every LT in the Chicago area and many more, TX, MN, etc. The Schaumburg location is one of the best run LTs. Period. Staff is 5/5, especially the night staff. Facilities are awesome. There's literally 4x the boxing bags compared to Old Orchard, as just one example. And double the squat racks of Northbrook. Sauna is 2x the size of Vernon Hills. This is the format and building style that works best for LTs, not the new three story design where everyone takes an elevator. I was just there last night and they have an awesome new rule that street shoes are not allowed in the sauna! Very thoughtful with people tracking dirt in from outside. Again, the staff makes all the difference, too. You can tell they are a great team, which is not the case at every business or even every other LT, which tend to be pretty solid overall. Highly recommend this Schaumburg LT.

Have been a member at Lifetime for a long time, and I really liked how they renovated that place recently. This is definitely a luxury gym that is clean. The workers are great and helpful too. It is on the pricier side which I'm fine with. However, because its pricey I have some recommendations on things that could be better.
1. the water filters should always be green (this ones super simple and I remember the water filter was red for the longest time or its not even lit up. simple fix)
2. I am in my 20s and wow is it loud by the treadmills. the music is super loud on this side of the gym and I can barely hear my headphones. Please lower the music by the treadmills (most people have headphones in anyways.
3. A lot of the treadmills are glitchy or don't have working tvs on them. I don't mind having the tvs on the treadmills, but for the price I pay it would be nice. As for it being glitchy some of the treadmills do not adjust properly when you try and change the speed/ incline.
Hope this was helpful. Please fix

1 YEAR UPDATE: I wanted to update my review and subtract one star for the following reasons:
• sanitation wipes, and occasionally towels, seem to be replenished less frequently
• new gym floor layout is less efficient, and the placement of machines is sub-optimal
(I personally would rather be facing a mirror than another person on a machine)
• cable attachments are hard to find and get to
• areas such as sauna, showers, hot tubs, and even elevators seem to be out of commission more frequently, which leads to a less consistent experience (I understand maintenance and renovations take place, but still worth mentioning from a user experience)
I understand how some points may seem like nitpicking, for a more pricey gym however, I feel my critics are valid. Overall, it is still a solid gym, a nice environment, clean surroundings, and packed with equipment and recovery features.

If you enjoy actually working out and becoming healthier while surrounded by likeminded individuals , this is not the place for you. Rather, I would compare it to if a level of Hell was incarnated into a gym that existed to keep you mildly annoyed at all times, while the experience slowly deteriorates in the smallest ways over time to gaslight you into thinking you’re insane.
This gym used to be great. I’ve been a member since 2016 and have been coming to Lifetime before then as well. I used to love the environment, facilities, and people here. There was never any issues and I truly felt I got my money’s worth plus some. Within the last year and a half or so, I feel like the experience has rapidly fallen apart. They have continually raised the price, while ignoring many of the facilities and needs of the consumer. It’s great that you can involuntarily charge me more for the pool that I don’t and have never used, but it would be even more great if the weight machines weren’t broken for weeks at a time, cables were replaced in a timely manner, and trainers weren’t supersetting across multiple pieces of equipment during peak. I don’t even particularly care about the price increases, I’m willing to pay for a premium gym experience. However, when I can’t use the studio between classes, nor bring a small gym bag with me that has never been a problem before because of “recovery equipment” they don’t want stolen (I’m assuming this is knockoff Theragun garbage you can buy on Amazon for like 30 bucks from China), nor get a workout done in a timely manner due to the increasingly limited/broken equipment, it begs the question of if this is a premium experience anymore.
I can’t imagine being someone new to working out/fitness trying to workout here, I’ve heard from multiple people that they’ve cancelled their membership due to simply not being able to workout as a result of the limited facilities in a timely manner. I’m patient and will workout regardless of the time constraints because it’s enjoyable, but man can this place make you grey in the hair with all of the new red tape, increased prices, and general staff malarkey that occurs day to day to annoy you.
If I was recommending gyms for someone, at this point I would not recommend this club. The Bloomingdale facility was nicer and less crowded when I went there for a time, and you can get a similar experience sans the clam chowder pool for 1/3 of the price out here in the ‘Burbs. If you’re more serious about bodybuilding/powerlifting , America’s or Surge probably are much better options. If you’re just doing cardio/light weights, you could get like 3 memberships for the price of one here elsewhere.
I would like to see this club return to when it was better. It was a place where serious bodybuilders, suburban moms, and the elderly could all get healthy and achieve a great workout in a synergistic manner. Now, at at this point, it’s just like any old corporate gym.

They really don't honor loyal members who stuck by them during COVID and even before COVID, and treat members like numbers. Before Stacy Brown there were previous GMs who handled these price increases much differently and effectively with respect for their loyal customers and always provided some sort of accommodation / promotional offers / pricing relief to help with the overall increase and make their loyal customers feel valued. Price increase is minimal but it has been happening every year since last 3-4 years now. I understand the current state of things with high inflation and all but why penalize your loyal clients who have been at lifetime since last 15-16 years. When I had joined lifetime 16 years ago I truly believed in your motto which was “Lifetime”. They need better GM at lifetime who knows how to handle these situations and speak with loyal members politely and respectfully. The service has gone down since last few years as well. Half of the time their Sauna and Spas are out of service waiting for technicians. If they can justify price increase then members should also get prorated credit for days their spas/ saunas are not working. When I talked to Stacy about this she just said I can go elsewhere if I don’t like it and there are other facilities I can use if Saunas and Spas are not working. Lot of people come to lifetime for sauna and spa. Regardless, That’s just not the way or attitude to treat anyone. You should remember you are in service business. I have so many friends who go to lifetime and never had a problem until now. I will personally ensure everyone knows about this experience. My recommendation to all the new members thinking about joining lifetime, until their GM gets their act together and starts valuing their customers I would not join this gym. There are much better options out there for the price they are charging. I will give it another 2-3 months and see if they are serious about making some changes and start valuing their customers.

Terrible and dishonest gym with outdated equipment at absurd prices. Stacey Brown is the new incompetent GM that doesn't notify you of price increases, and then ribs in your face that new members are paying a higher rate than you. I stuck through this gym through COVID where fees were only reduced for a short amount of time, and then skyrocketed back up even though the gym wasn't even 24 hours anymore! On top of that, the "emails" that she claimed were sent notifying of price increases didn't arrive. They didn't send any letter, no repeat notification. Just claims they sent one email and jacked rates up the very next month. Pathetic business practices. We have a lot of friends moving to the area and advise all of them to avoid this place like the plague.
Our family were loyal members but I'll be honest, she just seems like such a nasty person that I don't trust this gym or the company anymore. Loyalty means nothing to this company and this woman, just price gouging. Raising rates 37% in 2 years isn't due to "inflation", it's about some wannabe price gouging sales "GM" who wants to increase revenues in the short term so she can move to ruin some other business for her own self-fulfillment. Besides that, they're not reinvesting any of the increased dues in better services. Go to X-Sport or Prairie Stone Fot ess, the management at this location are grossly incompetent.

I love this gym. On a good day I might spend 4 hours here. Basketball, weights, treadmill, hot tub , swim, and sauna, each about 30-40 mins a piece 👌

This is one of the best lifetimes in the Chicago area. It is extremely well run, great staff, clean and everything works. Sauna is the best Lifetime sauna compared to the others in NW Chicagoland.

I agree with the recent reviews saying this club has gone downhill recently. Be careful when signing up for personal training they say it's a 30 day cancelation but it's effectively a 60 day cancelation policy.
