Not sure how this place is considered luxury.

- mens bathrooms is always flooded with sewer water due to toilets clogged
- dry sauna is way too hot
-whirlpool never cleaned i see band aids floating all over
- pool is never available for lap swimming and when it is only two lanes available at a time making ot difficult to share with others who come to just splash in the water. Plus water is never cleaned I smell high levels of chlorine which always irritates my skin
-mens shower floors are gross. I got a bad fungal infection twice and had to have laser surgery to remove
-mens locker room towels are dirty i got skin rashes on more than occasion.
-previous personal trainers (Robert Bill and Patrick Murphy) gave me stink eye and evil stare whenever I bring up issues to management about poor service. They are the worst trainers in the industry with such bad attitude and racist demeanor.

On the positive side, the cafe is great. U was always treated with respect there and they all knew me by name. If it were not for the cafe this location would have received a 1 star review.

I had a positive experience when I first started with Lifetime in Old Orchard. However at some point, a couple of staff started to mock me, which of course is highly unprofessional.

I did have an issue of taking a little longer leaving the gym at closing time. This one time in particular I had stayed much longer than usual, which I take responsibility for. A particular staff member with whom I had an issue with in the past threatened me that if I continue to be late she will send a male staff into the locker room while I am changing. I was naturally shocked and reported this to the management. Yet it appears nothing was done about it.

I had since that incident greatly improved my time and was working on not leaving late. One night when I was not particularly late, as I was about to leave the gym around the same time as two other women, and I was going to leave the gym 2 minutes later.

At the same time 2 female staff members were hanging around just staring at me looking like they were up to something. Suddenly, a male worker came in while I was finishing changing. He took a look at me, said nothing and then instantly left as well as the other two female workers. I was again shocked and didn't know how to react.

My parents and I reported this incident to the gym manager and the one of the district managers in person. They said they would take care of it, and seemed genuinely concerned, however as far as I can tell it seems like nothing was done about it, as the same workers are still there and one of them still has the nerve to laugh at me if I am to come to this location.

Lifetime never followed up with me to let me know how they resolved this, so that's why I stopped going to this gym.

Imagine thinking this is a “luxury” gym. Just look at the demographics alone. This gym is a glorified LA Fitness for people who just don’t know any better.

Midtown and Equinox are both priced the same and you get a cleaner club with a much classier clientele.

Extremely disappointing for a place that claims to be “luxury.”
I joined Life Time Fitness in Skokie a year ago expecting a high-end experience, but it’s far from it. The bathrooms are often dirty — I’ve seen blood or urine on the toilets, hair and shaving debris left in the showers, and trash or napkins scattered on the floor. The machines are rarely wiped down and don’t feel properly maintained.

For how expensive this gym is, the cleanliness and upkeep are completely unacceptable. The staff also don’t seem attentive or professional, which makes the experience even worse. It’s marketed as a luxury gym, but it’s anything but that. Definitely not worth the high price.

I LOVE the out door pool. We are so lucky to have a lovely outdoor experience this summer. The engineer was able to keep the pool open during the late august cold front and we are able to experience this lovely warm September in a clean environment where the temperature of the water is perfect. I walked into the establishment the other day and was greeted by a young man. I believe his name was Christopher S. Upon arrival, he was absolutely refreshing, I had a million questions. And he had an answer for every one!!! I definitely am considering a membership here. Just because of the great customer service hats off to you, sir. Most gyms are the same, but this one stands out because of the time christopher took with me to make sure I was well informed and I left with more knowledge then I had walking in.

I’ve known Jon for over 20 years, starting back when he worked at Xsport Fitness, and he has always stood out in the fitness industry. Back then, Jon was the popular guy at the gym with all the muscles, and I truly looked up to him when I began my own fitness journey.

What makes Jon exceptional isn’t just his passion for fitness—it’s how much he cares about others’ experience in the gym. He understands how frustrating it is when a machine is down because he’s just as dedicated to training as the members are. That’s why he’s always quick to respond, fixing equipment right away so workouts aren’t interrupted.

Since Jon joined Lifetime Fitness at Old Orchard, the gym has never run smoother. The machines are always up-to-date and working perfectly. Just today, during a packed Labor Day weekend, I walked by a broken machine and Jon immediately reassured me: “Give me 2 minutes and I’ll have it fixed.” Sure enough, he delivered—like he always does.

Jon is not only skilled and reliable, but also a genuinely great guy—friendly, funny, and approachable. He goes above and beyond every single day, and I feel truly blessed that he’s part of Lifetime Fitness. Honestly, there’s no one like Jon.

If you value your property, avoid this place at all costs. My stuff been stolen on multiple occasions here and i have only been a member for 3 weeks. Absolute disgrace of a place. For $200 a month and all you get is staff who are completely unhelpful. my partner has has over $300 worth of items taken on him, it seems to be by staff too. Staff told us they have our items in the back room for us, when we go to collect them they are gone? i believe it was staff who stole my stuff too unfortunately. They wont allow you to check the cameras, as 'you need to report it to police'. will definitely not be renewing my membership here

I’m so upset with the service there , staff is absolutely mean and attitude people…
I have no idea about the names , but I will tell you the time I went to this strange circus: 14:20 I join , I’m a member of Vernon Hill lifetime ,
so I was close I race my price to more expensive , just cause I was expecting at least the same good and quality service.
Poor me … reception is fake faces, sarcastic smiles , outdoor pool , don’t have a towels at all , same like women’s changing room , all attendants were rude, and what was the final , it’s anti sanitary conditions everywhere…. I did ask a cleaner lady in the women’s locker room to pay attention on shower where is for long time no cleaning happens , she said that she gonna do that after one hour . They are running of the people.

Glorified LA Fitness.
My wife and me joined this Gym as we moved to the suburbs, thinking we might be upgrading our experience from FFC west loop (our previous gym). But it is such a downgrade from FFC. This facility need not just maintenance but a full renovation. Equipments are Old, Facility is not clean, bathrooms are filthy and Pool is not clean. we are paying $279 and i dont even prefer to take a shower here. This facility needs proper management and maintenance. I am looking for an alternative with the current state of this gym. Disappointing experience.

I had a very disappointing experience at Lifetime Old Orchard. The staff is consistently rude and unhelpful — they seem completely disengaged and uninterested in assisting members. The facility itself is filthy and poorly maintained, which is unacceptable for a gym at this price point. The crowd is often loud and unruly, creating a chaotic atmosphere that feels more like a budget gym than a premium health club. Honestly, it’s worse than some LA Fitness locations I’ve been to. I would not recommend this location to anyone. It’s a poorly run establishment, and the staff is the main reason why.

Overall decent gym with good equipment. Locker rooms are always messy and have unqualified staff who dont know how to run a place when in a rush. Theres almost always no towels for anyone to use on weekdays around 5-8 pm. Employees are extremely entitled and rude. Ive worked many service jobs and never have i been so condescending with the people I am working for unlike the employees here. This is something i see especially in the locker room and cafe. The workers fail to realize that we are the ones paying a premium to go here not them.

I live in Schaumburg, so opened account in Lifetime Schaumburg. But sometimes due to work I go to Skokie Lifetime. I genuinely didn’t know that 2 places have 2 different membership fees. I entered Skokie one at least 4-5 times without any issues. But later was refused access. I think Lifetime should come up with same price, either decrease it all by 10$ or increase. Coz it is so inconvenient. Customers don't mind about price, it’s just poor delivery of information and poor customer orientation that you guys have.

Disgusted. Club advises of adding ice tub, as well as increasing fees. 7 months later, no ice tub, but increased fees. Amenities include: paying $175, toilets clogged for hours, no toilet paper, tissue and hand paper dispensers empty. Steam room has towels left behind by patrons. Clientele has no respect for gym dignity, staff afraid to enforce rules. What a shame. I came from Xsport and expected greatness, I left with shame and disguist.

Lifetime is a nice gym. People who work there are great. Now the "nice YMCA" issues.

The gymgoers. There's a culture of not racking the weights after using them, particularly for the MVPs that use 2+ plates.

Secondly, while a few will wait, people love asking to split pool lanes with an assumption it's a yes, which gives it a nice YMCA kind of vibe rather than the athletic country club they're going for.

So, good facilities, great staff, makes it so early in the morning it's a great place to work out, but your mileage later in the day may vary

Coaches and the community all seem great here. My problem with here is cleanliness. I went here around 5 am and found a dead cockroach on the floor near the treadmills. It’s clear that the floor’s not being cleaned properly even at the end of the day. My husband also went here late at night around 8 pm and found the place to be quite filthy and found hair in the water fountain. For a club that emphasizes premium and luxurious experience, this was a big turn off for us.

I joined Lifetime Fitness Old Orchard at the end of last year and ended my membership a few months later due to a string of concerning experiences that were consistently mishandled by one particular staff member.

The same young guy in a black jacket, who I believe holds some form of assistant management role, was involved in nearly every poor interaction I had.

About two months in, one of my credit cards was stolen from my locked locker. The thief attempted to charge $7,000 in Apple products. I reported it immediately to the staff, including this same young guy. I didn’t expect Lifetime to cover the cost since my credit card company handled it, but I felt it was important they knew something serious had occurred. His reaction was indifference. He told me I’d have to file a police report if I wanted them to do anything, missing the point entirely. I was trying to raise a security concern that clearly needed attention. He seemed more annoyed than concerned.

Roughly a month later, I noticed kids entering the steam room and spitting, literally spitting, on the sensor to trigger more steam. I mentioned it to a locker room attendant who agreed it was disgusting. I also tracked down the same young guy again and raised it with him. His response was, “Kids do stupid things.” No follow-up, no communication to members, no interest in addressing a real hygiene and safety issue.

Then in late March, I spoke with him once more and told him I wanted to cancel my membership at the end of April. He took my phone and processed what I believed was a cancellation for the correct date. But instead, the membership was canceled for the end of May. When my card was charged in early May, I called the front desk. A staff member told me a manager approved a refund. I appreciated that and assumed it was resolved, until I checked my statement on May 12 and saw nothing had been credited back. I left a voicemail, and no one ever followed up.

One last anecdote worth noting: when I first called about joining, I’m fairly certain this same staffer thought he had ended the call and muttered, “I hate my life.” I let him know I was still on the line, and the call ended abruptly. That moment turned out to be a fitting preview of the attitude I encountered throughout.

To be fair, the one bright spot was the personal trainer I worked with Thasla. She was excellent, professional, responsive, and always tailored her approach to my goals. She was the only part of the experience that lived up to what Lifetime markets itself to be.

But overall, Lifetime Old Orchard failed in three key areas: security, cleanliness, and accountability. And even worse than the issues themselves was the apathy I received when I tried to bring them to light. If you’re considering this gym, I’d suggest thinking carefully about what kind of environment you want to spend your time and money in. In my experience, this place still has a long way to go.

WORST haircut of my life. I asked for subtle highlights that blend with my natural hair and they gave me streaks of bleach. Left feeling worse than when I came. The guy dropped his tools genuinely like 6 times, and I wanted my bangs to be even like every other haircut I’ve had and he told me halfway through that I had a cowlick and wouldn’t be able to- then after asking him again to please even my bangs he did. When I went to checkout I told her I wanted to add a 10% tip and she was pressuring me saying the minimum on the machine was 15%. This is the same place that got bleach on my clothes in the past but I never said anything until now because they reimbursed me for my damaged clothes. Realized the hard way there’s a reason the salon was basically empty. Cried this morning.

Very nice facility with lots to offer a variety of ages. Super friendly Tony at the front sets the tone, as do many others! I love the space, has lots of classes, machines, weights, plus an indoor and outdoor pool. Staff is very helpful and welcoming! My only suggestion would be to add more light in the classes such as Pilates fusion. I couldn’t see what the teacher was doing because it was so dark in there. Other than that, this is a wonderful place for everyone!

I used to go to Xsport in Skokie and found that the quality of that gym declined rapidly during Covid . I decided to jump ship and join Lifetime and I am glad I did. The gym is relatively well maintained . The staff is pretty nice and I always get a warm friendly greeting from the front desk, especially from Christopher , who is always helpful professional and a great people person.

I also love the fact that this gym is diverse !

Two weeks ago I visited a beauty salon for a facial scrub and massage. If I'm not mistaken the cosmetologist's name was Elena. I want to say that I am delighted with the service. I received 1.5 hours of enjoyment, professional skin care and recommendations. To be honest I did not even expect high-quality services in this center but now I am your regular customer! Absolutely love Life Time, specifically the Old Orchard location. At this point, it’s a community, not just a gym. One of the most luxurious gyms I’ve ever been to. Front desk staff always greets me with a smile. Feels like family, so it’s easy to be consistent when the atmosphere gives a warm welcome vibe. I've been a member of this gym for several months and, unfortunately, I have to express my concerns regarding the current general manager. While I understand the need for strong leadership, the manager's overly controlling behavior has created a hostile and unwelcoming environment for both members and staff. This manager frequently micromanages the team, often in front of members, which is not only unprofessional but also disruptive to the gym's operations.

Additionally, I've witnessed several instances where the manager's interactions with staff and members have been unprofessional and discourteous. Constructive feedback is essential for any business, but it should be delivered in a manner that is respectful and conducive to growth. Unfortunately, this is not the case here.

I genuinely enjoy this gym and appreciate the hard work of the staff, but the negative atmosphere created by the current management is driving members away and affecting the overall experience. I strongly urge the corporate office to review these concerns and take appropriate action to ensure a positive and professional environment for everyone.

I do love the gym and truly should deserve a 5 but the fact that it’s been so long since my favorite cardio machine has been working properly. They have maybe 6 Total Body Arc Trainer Machines and the one by the glass is THE ONLY fully functional one. The rest don’t incline at all I’m actually shocked that a gym such as Lifetime would have these issues and go unfixed for months!. I think it’s important I share my experience. Because I would have given LifeTime 5 stars a while back. & was a big advocate for others to join at one point & time.

Due to my skin tone , I’m not afforded the same comfort as the other patrons , which is consistent amongst my other friends who attend this location. & some who have cancelled membership due to this VERY MATTER! Skokie is diverse & the employees should respect every patron that walks in the door EQUALLY.

The amenities are nice. But limited arbitrarily based on who you are , and/or how the microaggressive yoga instructor or Lifeguard are feeling that day, which is preposterous behavior, for people who are in theory customer success representatives.

All in all, facilities are nice. But packed for a large portion of the day every day. The amenities look nice on paper but there will be a miserable employee who will arbitrarily intrude on your workout , comfort , and experience due to their PERSONAL MISERY. When you combine that with the price (which I saw the value in until these semi-recent and consistent discoveries , I wouldn’t say it’s worth it. Especially if you aren’t white. Teetering on the edge of Cancellation & legal action if I’m being honest.

Proposed Solution: Don’t hire physically unfit people to work at a Premium Gym. Science says working out is correlated to happiness. You can’t trust those who don’t have a relationship with the gym to navigate your customer experience it reflects poorly on the brand on multiple fronts.

This is a really great gym for all kinds of people, from casuals to serious athletes. The gym sections are very large and have all kinds of equipment (treadmills, free weights, and machines) that anyone would need. There are also lots of classes and extras that go with it (IE a cafe, salon, pool, etc).

I can give it a solid 4/5 but not a 5 because the price is prohibitive. You can get the same kind of high-end gym floors and extra perks at other chains and locations for considerably less cost. This is a great health club if you qualify for a discount, but otherwise your money may go much farther at a different place.

My entire family has been members here for six months. This location, the one we initially signed up for and the only one close to our house, recently closed down the entire aquatic area for over half a month. During this time, we couldn't access the kids' pool, sauna, or lap swim – activities we primarily engage in here. Despite asking several times if they would suspend our membership or provide a partial refund, they insisted we could use other locations, which are 40 minutes away. I didn't sign up for another location, but I reluctantly agreed. Today, when we returned with our kids, the pool supervisor, Debbie, enforced unnecessary rules, insisting we stay 10 feet from our kids, even though they can swim. She also interrupted other kids' play in the water. Is this pool just for show? Let the kids play – that's what this area is for. If Debbie is bored, she should attend to more pressing matters, like cleaning the sauna glass or addressing smelly towels. I've been patient, but Debbie's actions suggest being nice might not be enough.

I recently visited my gym, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The facility appears to be in a state of neglect, with cleanliness and hygiene concerns that are hard to overlook. The unsanitary conditions make it challenging to enjoy a workout.

Moreover, the recent change in management, particularly the new general manager, has introduced a negative atmosphere. Their demeanor is far from welcoming, and it's disheartening to witness such a decline in customer service. For the amount of money spent on membership, the overall value and experience no longer justify the cost.

We have a family membership & have been coming to the facility for a few months now. My husband has been a member for years. We always come in the evening as it’s the best time that works for our family. Never had any issues about using the family locker room. But recently it’s been a challenge but only whenever Chris is at the checkin desk. He always stops my son from entering the family locker room. He says something different each time….out of service, closed, not available today….now he’s saying it’s policy.
We explained to him that my son would just be putting his bag in a locker and simply walking thru it to get to the pool. He is a young kid & not comfortable using the men’s locker room.
Yesterday was the limit, when we asked him for a solution to the problem he said we are more than welcomed to terminate our membership if it’s not working for us. We were not able to use the facility yesterday.
In terms of customer service I believe this is quite disgraceful.
We never have issue when other associates are at checkin or at other locations (like Schaumburg). In fact the associates at Schaumburg have a very respectful demeanor. This location gives its members a hard time. It’s almost as if they want members to terminate their membership.

Staff is so rude. They make it obvious they don't care about you or the money you're paying. This location comes up with their own policies on the spot, that no other lifetime has in place, and they're very good at being creative with those just to make you leave. Been a member of this club for years now only reason I still have my membership is for the other LifeTime locations such as Schaumburg. This rim has been like this for weeks now and doesn’t seem like they’re going to do anything about it. As someone who enjoys playing basketball especially FULL COURT basketball this upsets me. They already took away one of the basketball courts and replaced it with pickleball the least they can do is maintain a good condition of the one and only court they have. Replace the rims and nets when broken and please wipe the floors especially after kids birthday parties/events and zumba. Been to other Lifetimes in different states too such as Arizona and this Lifetime club in Old Orchard is by far the worst one I’ve been to. They’re lucky its the closest one to my house or else I wouldn’t step foot in that facility.

Staff is great and I've been a happy member for many years, but the situation with the sauna not heating up properly has been going on for months now. A lot of members are looking into alternative gyms with working saunas. I'm not ready to switch yet, but how is that every other Lifetime has a working sauna but not this one?

Recently canceled our entire family membership. The staff is good, however, nothing is being done about the lack of respect of unattended kids on the gym floor. Kids are using it as a Social gathering instead of actually working out. These kids to no fault of the gym, have no gym etiquette, no respect for elders and a sense of entitlement that is beyond comprehendible. These kids are unattended by adults yet the gym has a policy that parents must be in the building. I am not paying the membership fees this gym requires to be insulted or to have to teach horrible kids how to behave. I suggest you go elsewhere until management realizes enforcement is necessary for people to use the equipment and facility at peace.

I have been a member of this Life Time Fitness Old Orchard (LTF) for over 20 years. This Life Time Fitness has a primo location but is very poorly managed. I have remained a member is this LTF for over 20 years as it is less than 2 miles from my house and it doesn't have any direct competition within 5 - 10 miles in any direction.

Maintenance at this LTF is awful. The exercise machines are not maintained and wear parts not replaced or retightened until they break. They finally refinished the floor in the spin studio and installed new spin bikes long, long past due. In typical fashion some of the new spin bikes were delivered with dead batteries and a month later they still have dead batteries, go figure. The floorboards in the gyms are loose and not repaired when they do refinish the floors. Cleaning is not up to the standards of a nice health club, not terrible but often there are towels laying around and puddles of water around the sinks. The club recently built 3 dedicated pickleball courts replacing one of the two basketball gyms and painted the floor for the pickleball courts without first fixing the floorboards. Now the brand new pickleball courts have dead spots where the ball just dies instead of bouncing.

The members at LTF Old Orchard are generally friendly and the staff is well-intentioned. Unfortunately, there is little corporate oversight or effective local leadership for this club, especially for maintenance, despite its premier location.

If I owned Lifetime I would have 2 or 3 inspectors at least annually inspect the club, letting them know they were in competition, to see who put together a more accurate punch list for repairs. For instance, faucets in showers have been leaking for years, plumbing cover plates installed crooked, sloppy tile grouting, etc. They should individually check every single exercise machine, bike, weights, etc., and make service recommendations. Every manufacturer of commercial exercise equipment offers a maintenance schedule but at this LTF never is. This LTF has so much potential based on the existing facility and demographics if only someone took pride in ownership instead of just milking it for what they may.

Recently joined and so far we love it. It’s a great fit for active families. The pickleball community is great and there are tons of open court as well as reserved times. Kid’s amenities are top notch. Overall the patrons have been welcoming but there is definitely an opportunity for people to put their wet towels in the laundry when done.

They got pickleball courts and open pickleball times 👍 indoor swimming pool 👍 menu at the cafe looks good and so do the ingredient list on their prepackaged meals. It’s got a nice vibe so far. Gabe at Member Concierge was very welcoming and helpful. Signing up. And thank you!
Oh, forgot about the other bonus, they have Pete’s coffee and not Starbucks 👍

Coming from Vernon hills this place sucks. Not enough benches for free weights. Not once have I seen the staff go around and wiping down equipment. Before peak hours. Half the equipment is sticky, when I go to wash my hands there’s no soap. And only one basketball court. Mid not worth it here might as well go to la fitness.

I love lifetime, if only people weren't such slobs... the staff keeps everything as clean as they can and additional items stocked and organized. They are super friendly and helpful. I just still can't believe, and I am sad and disappointed in other humans.

I dont understand how some people can't pick up after themselves... with the premium price and ametties this club has to offer, it is just plain disrespectful to the staff and other club members.

Regardless, this it is still so much better than any gym/club experience I have had to date and is my first and most desirable choice.

Update, parents need to teach their kids that leaving wet towels on the floor/shower/changing areas and not in the many bins that are easily accessible. Is not ok...

Lifetime is an easy 10/10 if people weren't so incredibly lazy or expecting others to pick up their debris field, some people can help but leave behind... which is still so much better than other clubs.
