7/21/2025 Update: Still coming 3x a week and still loving it! Since Abby has moved on, I'm now training regularly with Sarah, and have had about half a dozen sessions with Miguel when he's filled in for Sarah. I LOVE this place. Not only are you definitely going to be paired with a knowledgable, caring, and passionate trainer, but the professionalism and positive vibes here are great. We always start on time, I always get full undivided attention, my programming is tailored to me, and the facilities are always clean. While the cost is not unsubstantial, I feel great about investing in my long-term physical and mental wellness, and Lift for me has absolutely been worth the price.
I've been seeing Abby at least 3x a week since Oct 2021. She is an awesome trainer, always coming with positive energy and attentiveness. Strength training has probably been the most effective thing in correcting my lower back tightness/pain.
I genuinely look forward to our sessions. Abby keeps on top of her education, and makes sure to switch up our routine/up my weights/try new techniques to see what will work the best for me.
I feel much stronger and in tune with my body overall, and was very excited to see my bone density increasing in my DEXA scans. Strength training will always be a staple in my routine to keep a healthy body as I age, and as long as Abby is at Lift I will be, too!
I highly recommend this facility, all the trainers are great, and 1:1 personalized sessions are a great investment.

I have been going to Lift for about 5 months now and I cannot say enough good things about this place. I have been seeing Abby for personal training sessions and she is fantastic. She is great about listening to my needs and adjusting the day's plan to accommodate them while also pushing me. The gym itself is well maintained and clean and the staff is very friendly. I also love how the gym never feels crowded or chaotic. Highly recommend!

I have had nothing less than a consistently excellent experience training at Lift Chicago in Lincoln Park. I decided to book with Abby for the first time in 2022 as I was more comfortable with a female trainer. Abby is a consummate professional; is always extremely pleasant; and has demonstrated that she absolutely knows what she’s doing. I am able to show up, get the work done, and be on my way. Abby and I have discussed what I wanted to work on specifically and she’s helping make it happen. Being accountable to her is what’s keeping me consistent. She’s always super patient and understanding with my frequent schedule changes. I am elated to be able to notice results in my ability to carry heavier items at work more easily; my knees have stopped hurting; and I have lost weight. I am noticing my body becoming more toned and strong. My job is very physically taxing and I’m certain that weightlifting is helping support my ability to keep up at work. The aesthetic benefits are awesome but the greatest gains have been the improvement in my mental health. I am always in a much better mood when I leave my time with Abby. The cost for sessions is absolutely flexible for my budget and is totally worth all the benefits. The locker room facilities are always stocked with toiletries and clean. Beyond thrilled that I found Lift and Abby's WMN x LIFT class. Abby is beyond sweet, but will also push you towards your personal best and to achieve new goals. I look forward to this class every week as it is high energy with a mix of bodyweight exercises, machine and weight work all in one. Studio is also easy to access (parking), has great music and is immaculate compared to any gym I have ever been to. Great class/gym for beginners and all other skill levels!

I have been working with coach Abby for several months now and I could not speak more highly of her. She is very knowledgable and supportive in helping me reach my goals. LIFT is great! I started going several months ago and have stuck with it. I even look forward to working out. The trainers are knowledgeable and patient. They are encouraging and push me to work hard. The workouts are not a “one size fits all”, instead the trainers tailor workouts to fit the individual. Really well-equipped gyms at their 2 locations and very knowledgeable trainers. I've been going for over 2.5 years, and their trainers have been helping me gain strength despite a nagging injury that at times limited what I could do. I'm so grateful for their help and creativity in creating workouts that would not further aggravate my injury. Throughout the process, I learned so much, and I'm stronger than ever with more balanced muscle strength (ie less compensation by my stronger muscle groups), and a nicer shape as well. I've worked with personal trainers on and off for over a decade, and all Lift's trainers are of the highest caliber - plus the gyms have top-notch equipment allowing for fun and varied workouts in addition to the basics. Lift is THE best personal training gym in Chicago. The entire staff is incredible and makes you feel welcome every time. I never worry about safety or hurting myself with the 1:1 attention, and if it weren’t for Lift I’d never be doing the type of workouts I’m doing. Favorite gym/training in Chicago! I've been going to Lift since they opened in River North. I'm so glad they opened their Lincoln Park location as it's closer to me with the same quality and excellent experience and even more space.
I have worked out at Lift through my wedding, pregnancy, and now post-partum and with almost every strength coach. I'm always impressed with the knowledge of the coaches and how they're able to make the workout challenging but always safe regardless of ability or stage of life. LIFT is great but Abby is incredible. The facility is gorgeous, up to date and clean but is nothing without its trainers. Working with Abby has been amazing. I love Lyft! I started off by just taking some women x strength training classes and immediately fell in love with this place. I knew I needed someone to help me strength train rather than just focus on those fast pace cardio workout classes. I absolutely loved those classes with Abby! She’s such a great trainer and even in those strength classes I still felt like I got so much 1:1 attention. She would often fix my form, add in weights… she is just always aware of what her clients need, even in group classes. I recently started personal training with Abby and I’m already seeing so many results. I’m stronger and have so much more energy. Also love the LP studio. So many amenities- the studio is large, super clean and there’s never a parking problem!!! I’m so glad I found Lyft and Ill be working with Abby forever now!

WNM x LIFT is my favorite workout in Chicago. I’ve been returning almost weekly for the past 6 months because Coach Abby Christiansen runs a high energy class that’s challenging, educational, and really fun. I appreciate that she pays attention to everyone’s form, offering mods that kick things up a notch and hit new PRs, or that make exercises more accessible and help us work around injuries. Started going to Lift a few months ago and have been loving it more week after week. Their traditional strength classes are top notch! Classes are intimate (never typically over 12 people). Coaches are super knowledgeable and you get the right amount of attention to detail in every class. Abby, Mariah, and Sam are all amazing. Plus, the equipment and overall atmosphere is just impeccable. The Lincoln Park location as the bonus of spectacular views of downtown too!
My personal favorite has been the WMN LIFT with Abby, geared toward women identifying individuals with a particular focus on steady strength, mobility, and power - The classes always aim to focus across the full body with an emphasis on hips and core (which we all know we need more of.) Abby is always bringing the energy and fresh new workout moves. Couldn't recommend this class but also this place enough!

My times at Lift Lincoln Park have been spent at the Tuesday/Thursday WMNxLIFT group run by Abby C., and every time I’ve had a great experience. The super nice equipment (which they have lots of!) only goes so far- but this group has a great coach to push women to lift heavier, get stronger, and feel great. Abby is a great motivator, and while each class has a similar feel to it, the lifts and conditioning vary every time, keeping it fresh. This is definitely a regular class for me now!

I had an excellent experience training at LIFT. As a physical therapist, we can often be critical of strength training programs/gyms that are not properly tailored to the individual. However, I can confidently say that this team recognizes proper loading principles that help clients achieve their specific goals, as well as avoid injury. I worked primarily with Josh, but also had the opportunity to work with Sam, Abby, and Kyle. Each coach is extremely proficient and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.

I highly recommend LIFT. I was not achieving the results I wanted solely through group fitness classes, so I added personal training into my routine. My trainer, Josh, is extremely knowledgeable and incorporates a variety of exercises to safely push me beyond what I think I am capable of and what I could do on my own without his encouragement. The gym is spacious, well maintained, energetic and welcoming to everyone. All of the equipment is best in class and LIFT is conveniently located with access to free parking.

Without a doubt, the best workout you will find...anywhere. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, the facilities are second to none, and the results speak for themselves. I had been doing high-intensity workout routines for nearly 20 years and no matter what would plateau at some point. Plateaus lead to complacency and complacency leads to laziness. Without fail, I'd always lose interest in the routine and start looking for another. Ever since working with Josh, those plateaus have disappeared. He (and the whole Lift staff) knows exactly how to safely push you to your limits so that you are always progressing. Once you give it a try you will wonder how you ever worked out anywhere else.

I’ve been training with the team at Lift literally since day one (and with several of the trainers even before), and it’s a crucial part of my training regimen. I now travel all the way from the suburbs into the city to their Lincoln Park location because I’ve never had a training team this knowledgeable and didn’t want to lose them after my move!

They put you through a full body workout in as little as 30 minutes, so it’s a very efficient way to build and maintain strength and conditioning. They now have two incredible gyms with state of the art equipment. Would recommend LIFT to anyone wanting to better their fitness!
