Easily in the top 3 life decisions Ive ever made. As a highly active but injury-prone person, I've never been stronger and safer with the in depth guidance this gym offers. Great and welcoming community from beginner to expert. Great staff tailoring your workouts to your goals/limitations. I got more results in 6 months here than 15 years doing my own research and following online programs - do not waste your time going somewhere else.

Amazing facility, friendly atmosphere and great trainers. I have also met so many great people at the gym many who have become friends. I've been training with JT for almost 7 years and would highly recommend for anyone just getting started or someone who needs that extra push and motivation. Thanks MSP Team for putting together an amazing fitness experience!

I have been a member of MSP for approximately one year. Initially, I was somewhat hesitant about joining a gym. However, I am pleased I made the decision.

The staff is incredibly friendly and supportive and thanks to the encouragement from the gym community and staff I am successfully working towards my fitness goals.

I can’t recommend MSP enough to anyone looking to join a supportive fitness community! I’ve not only gotten stronger and healthier but enjoyed the process of lifting safely, consistently, and with marked progress. The coaches are attentive, skilled, and genuinely care about helping clients meet their specific goals. On top of that, the community of other gym goers is awesome and super supportive. A year later, I still only have great things to say about MSP!

I started coming to MSP in Lisle in early 2024, and it has been a positive experience! As you age the body changes and sometimes a 45 minute circuit works, but not as efficiently and effectively as you want. I realized this since the pandemic, when my fitness took a hit, and I realized that I needed to make a change. I started with 2 months of 1 on 1 personal training to get my body moving, lifting some weights, and learning proper technique. I also started MSP Lisle's nutrition coaching in June for 4 months, but in hindsight I wish I had started the nutrition when I first started training! I've learned that lifting and cardio can help with health results, but nutrition, sleep, and stress management are also so important for body composition changes! When I dialed these in, I started seeing awesome results. Also, if you have a long day at work and you feel mentally drained, the coaches here can brighten up your day and make your workout a pleasant one...This has been life changing, and I've had a positive outcome here. Every day is a new day to learn, to live healthy, and to have fun. JT, Ashley, and the team do make it awesome!

About a year ago, I was looking for a place to kickstart my journey back to exercising again. Little did I know that MSP was not only the solution to fall back in love with working out consistently but it has become a place I look forward to going, with ease and excitement. Exercises are personalized depending on your level and goals, not only for private and semi private sessions but also for the days you train on your own, so there’s continuity in your practice. What makes this gym even more special is its people. All trainers are dedicated and knowledgeable, but also genuinely friendly and supportive and they instill the same in their clients, so everybody is always welcoming and fun to train around with.

Amazing Gym and Coaches!

I’ve been training at Midwest Strength & Performance for just under a year now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for my health and fitness. The semi-private training sessions are awesome — the coaches create workouts tailored specifically for you, even though you’re in a small group.

The facility has everything you need, but what really makes this place stand out is the people. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely care about helping you reach your goals. And the community, everyone is so friendly and supportive that it makes showing up so much easier.

If you’re looking for a gym where you’ll feel welcome and actually see results, this is the place to go!

Midwest Strength and Performance is a great gym. The coaches are all great to work with, everyone is friendly and it is a positive environment to work out in. It can be intimidating to walk into a gym if you haven’t worked out in a while, but everyone here makes you feel welcome. I have been a member for two years and couldn’t be happier.

Good gym. Great people. Honestly I’ve done different workout stuff in the past - but never weight lifting. Was always intimidated by it. Avoided it for years by doing things like strip mall group classes, running (lots of running), stuff like that. Made various levels of progress. But nothing compares to the progress I saw in my first few months with these guys. Could feel it, see it, and others could too. The team and other members are great. Real people from all walks of life. Super supportive. Never been uncomfortable or intimidated. Grateful to have found them.

MSP is an amazing gym for strength training at all levels! JT, Abby, Kael and Victoria are excellent coaches! I highly recommend it for people who are new to strength training and people who want to get to the next level and set personal records. The community at MSP is also great. I have made new friends and I look forward to working out with the other members. The tight knit community and the personalized coaching are what set MSP apart from other gyms.

I came to MSP with no background in lifting heavy weights. I have been a serious long distance runner for most of life, but I decided to start lifting to improve my strength for injury prevention, better health and longevity.

I started by training 1:1 at MSP with JT. He gave me a free intro and evaluation. He helped me learn the movements and coached me with excellent cues and technique pointers. I transitioned to semi-private classes, which are sessions with 6 or fewer people working with 1 coach for 1 hour. Each person has a customized program that is updated weekly based on their goals and progress.

Over the past 9 months I have improved many lifts including squat, bench and deadlift. I went from no experience lifting to benching 185 lbs and trap deadlifting 390 at 150lbs body weight. JT gave me very specific exercises to work on my weaknesses and I have gotten stronger. I notice my increased strength and balance improving my everyday life. Strength training at MSP has also contributed to my running success. This year I ran a 1:22 half marathon and I won my age group (40-44). I also got 4th place in a triathlon and second place in a 5k.
Overall, I highly recommend MSP!

I am delighted to share my review of MSP (insert full name of the gym).

After years of searching for the perfect gym, I have finally found my fitness home at MSP. This inclusive environment provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere that truly sets it apart from other fitness centers. The caring and talented coaches at MSP work closely with each member, ensuring that we stay on track with our individual goals.

Since joining MSP, I have never felt stronger both physically and mentally. The gym offers a variety of movement options, allowing me to explore and challenge myself in new ways.

One aspect that truly sets MSP apart is its incredible community. The members and staff create an atmosphere of support and camaraderie that is truly inspiring. I have made lasting friendships and feel a true sense of belonging within this community.

MSP has not only provided me with the tools to reach my fitness goals but has also given me the confidence to excel both inside and outside of the gym. I feel empowered and more confident in my abilities, which has positively impacted various aspects of my life.

If you are searching for a gym that not only focuses on fitness but also fosters a supportive community, I highly recommend MSP. It is a place where you can achieve your goals, be challenged, and feel confident every step of the way.

Our daughter trained with JT for a year and a half. Kennedy set big goals for herself and with the help of JT she met and even exceeded her goals. Kennedy was named All State in multiple sports and recently received a PWO from Rutgers. Most importantly she learned to LOVE strength training. She will definitely be back to train with JT when she is in town!

Amazing gym. More than the facilities, the personal connection with the coaches and the support system here helps you keep motivated. JT and Abbie helped me a lot through the initial phases, and once I plateaued, they pushed me to go even further.

Truly, I've been to gyms with 10x the facilities, but couldn't keep me motivated after the 2nd week. At MSP, I'm always looking forward to the next session.

Highly recommended. 🙂

Couldn't say enough about this gym. Started training at MSP earlier this year and it's been one of the best decisions I've made in 2022.

Every trainer that I've encountered have been awesome. JT listened to my goals and designed a personalized program that has both pushed me towards them and got me out of my comfort zone. Also Tyler, Abby and Andy have all brought an expertise and energy that have improved my training and also made me look forward to coming in every time.

The facility is amazing, has a wide array of equipment for every type of training and the small group style training makes sure you get personal attention and always get the piece of equipment you need.

Lastly, the community is awesome. They do such a good job making it a fun and encouraging place to train. Everyone cheers on others successes and I attribute it to the culture all of the trainers have instilled in the place.

Joining MSP Lisle has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. JT is not only a fantastic trainer, he’s a high quality human being. He cares about his clients, genuinely does his best to get you closer to your goals, and provides constructive feedback when needed. Nobody celebrates their clients successes like JT does, either!

The facility is well-equipped. JT has everything you need to get strong.

The community is inviting and supportive to anybody who wants to get serious about their fitness. I’ve never met a more inclusive group of people in a gym setting.

If you are looking for accountability and results, I can’t recommend JT and Physical Culture enough. In just 6 months JT was able to get me from a regular guy who rarely exercised to placing top 10 in my weight class at a regional powerlifting meet. I went to JT with little to no understanding of how to build and develop strength and fitness and not only did he push me to accomplish my goals but also was very good about teaching me the importance of the process and was happy to explain why what he was having me do was important. I wholeheartedly agree with every review about how passionate JT is about physical health and how incredible he is as a trainer ! However, I will be diverging from what you would expect to read.
PLEASE if you are a parent of a middle school through high school child, and are experiencing the normal parent alienation and struggling on trying anything!! to help motivate and mentor your child though this ,for most ,difficult time , I can’t begin to put into words what JT has done for my nineteen year old son.
Three years ago my son lost his father in a tragic accident.. He was in weekly therapy but I just felt he needed something more.. I wanted him to physically use his body to help with the pain he was and still is keeping inside privately.
I searched endlessly and am incredibly blessed to have found JT. I explained this was more about mental health .. My son needed a mentor ,to give him positive affirmations , and just a good old pat on the back .
JT has become so much more to me and my son than I could of ever imagined.
My son has formed a forever connection to JT and truly can’t wait to see him every week.
If you or your child are going through any social or peer alienation., depression, lack of motivation, just navigating through this delicate time.. Go to JT and get that boost your searching for!!!

Before JT started Physical Culture he would make the trip to my house to train me. Right from the start JT showed a level of professionalism and commitment to that made me want to get better. On day one he really listened to what I was looking for physically and put together a plan that worked. I wanted to learn how to do lifts like the squat, DL and bench. I also wanted to put on good weight and he got me there through a comprehensive training program and diet plan. It's clear he can lift a lot of weight himself, what's great is that through his personal experience he found a way to teach that to someone like me who had no real experience lifting. Before starting to work with JT my squat and deadlift form were disastrous and causing a great deal of pain to my low back and knees. After about 6 weeks with JT, I saw improvement in all lifts; squat, deadlift, bench and overhead press. His ability to break these lifts down and teach them made an incredible difference that I still use years later. Combined with the simple and effective diet plan he put together (I work full time so I don't have much time to cook!) I managed to put on 20lbs going from 170lbs to 190lbs while seeing consistent improvement in my overall fitness. If you are looking for a trainer, I would not hesitate to give him a call. You'll find in JT someone that will listen well, put together a plan that works, strive to make sure you're technique is flawless, and keep you motivated and on track throughout the course of your training.

JT designed a body building program - fit-for-purpose, based on my body type, strengths/weaknesses, diet, etc. - & trained me under this custom program for ~2 years, ~5 days per week. The results exceeded my expectations - although, JT was confident 100% of the way - I gained ~35 lbs, mostly muscle (size & definition - even visible in all the tough spots: abs, back, obliques). JT's attitude & energy created an environment that made me want to work-out & achieve my goals - that combined w/ his ability to deliver results set him & Physical Culture (amazing facility w/ quality Rogue equipment) apart & above the rest!

JT is an amazing personal trainer. Whether your goal is to be a powerlifter, a bodybuilder, or just lose some pounds for the summer, JT has extensive knowledge and experience in all types of weightlifting and cardio techniques.

I started going to JT back in July of 2017. Though I wasn’t overweight, I was 100% out of shape, not having gone to the gym since 2012 and my exercise for the day running from meeting to meeting at work. Right away JT asked what my goals were and gave me a workout - it was beyond rough but just what I needed to give me the wake up call I needed. JT made me push myself harder than I ever could alone, but not in an in-your-face drill sergeant way. Even though he has dozens of clients, he knows the limits of each client and pushes them to push themselves. There are countless times in the beginning of my training where he prescribed a weight for me to lift, and after I unsuccessfully protested, I would be surprised by how I was able to achieve it by staying focused and driven. It’s been almost two years now since I started and I am in the best shape of my life, having gone from barely setting foot into a gym to achieving a 245lb benchpress/330lb squat/375lb deadlift in December 2018. There is no way I could have achieved these results so quickly without JT’s exceptional personal training. You are there because you want change or improvement and he knows exactly how to get you to achieve that.

JT wants his clients to succeed - spending only a session or two with him will make this obvious. Though this may seem like a basic quality, I find it incredibly valuable when there are gyms out there just blatantly only wanting your money, not caring about your fitness journey. JT also listens and adheres to the needs of his clients, fine-tuning and modifying workouts to ensure his client still gets a good workout. Want to be a bodybuilder? You’ll be doing sets upon sets of hypertrophy. What about a powerlifter? JT will make sure you’re lifting weights that are heavy, heavier than you ever thought you could lift. Are you a complete gym novice like I was or just want to get in better shape? You’ll be bench pressing, supersetting, and hitting the rower in no time in this gym. I’ve gone from doing full body workouts with cardio, to hypertrophy months, to strength months, and back to hypertrophy - JT makes sure each month I’m working out in a way that suits my goals.

Besides being a expert in getting his clients in shape, JT’s biggest strength is his approachable and charismatic personality. I’ve been at the gym now for almost two years, and I love going because for me and for many others in the workforce, the gym helps serves as our social hour. JT is a very personable dude, whether it is discussing the latest GoT episode or do you actually have to eat chicken everyday to be healthy or Joe Rogan podcasts, it’s always a great conversation. I consider JT and many of his clients to be my friends, we always have a good time working out, encouraging each other to push ourselves or maybe confessing how many reps we actually did behind JT’s back; it’s a very fun, social atmosphere while still being challenging and engaging from a workout standpoint. Even when the workouts are tough, I still have a great time working out with the friends I’ve made at the gym.

There is a reason I and many others have been going to JT for years now - he is an effective and likable personal trainer who wants you to succeed and will make you succeed if you put in the effort as well. I cannot recommend him enough.
