Outstanding Mysore-style yoga class. Super knowledgeable teacher, with a relaxed vibe. Teaches ultra traditional style if that's what you're looking for, or will tailor the class to fit your goals.

Additionally, the studio is beautiful.

Can't beat it.

Unprofessional, to say the least.
Ask for the credentials up front and fact check them. Find another option if you are trying to get certified from this place. I joined the YTT and it was the most disorganized and annoying experience I have ever had in a learning environment. I wish I could have gotten my money back - the owner was manipulating his staff and students and it was an uncomfortable and frustrating experience. They claimed to be a part of Yoga alliance but that was untrue at the time I was enrolled. A total scam. Find somewhere else to practice ~ this place and its energy = no good.

No security or anyone at the front desk during the hour long yoga class I took around 8pm on Thursday, 1/16. Someone stole my wallet out of my purse (which was hidden behind my thick jacket hanging on a hook by the yoga room in front of the front desk) and then tried to use my card to buy almost $200 in liquor. This studio needs to be better organized and actually keep an eye on their patrons’ items? This whole thing could’ve been prevented.

This place is more than just a yoga studio. This is a community. Daren, the owner, makes everyone feel welcome no matter the level of their practice. The teachers are highly qualified, the classes are a nice mix of challenging asana and thoughtful meditation. They don’t rush you out of class like corporate yoga, you will enjoy your shavasana!

Moksha Yoga is not only a wonderful yoga studio, but also has a supportive community which is truly special. Moksha prioritizes breathwork and alignment, and works to create an environment where everyone can feel at home.

I’ve been coming here for half a year now and it has changed my body, mind and well being! Natalie is my favorite teacher! Her classes (Mondays and Wednesdays at noon) are always dynamic, challenging and smooth! On the days I have skipped class, my body has regretted it! Drop ins are easy for me when I can’t buy a 5 class package but I definitely save more money when I buy a package. I highly recommend taking Natalie’s vinyasa classes because they are easy enough for beginners while they always push you to move a bit more so you can become stronger! Thank you Moksha!

I did my yoga Teacher Training in Moksha Yoga with Daren, the director, and I am so thankful for so much we learned with him.

Daren has a profound knowledge and understanding of yoga, as well a great ability to transfer that knowledge to his students.
Since 2005 when I finished the training, I have done many trainings with different teachers including Europe and I can confirm that many topics can land deep thanks to my Teacher Training with him.

Still my favourite teacher, his dedication and teaching style makes him outstanding in the yoga community.

The place was disgustingly dirty, with grime and filth covering every surface. It seemed like cleanliness was the last thing on their minds. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values hygiene

Moksha has a great vibe - mixture of traditional practice with modern flare. My favorite teacher here is Aimee, she is one of the best I've found after 15 years of doing yoga. Support small businesses and support Moksha!

Best yoga studio in the city! I have been attending Moksha for 4 plus years, and I love it. Classes here are the real deal. I’ve learned to engage properly through instructor corrections instead of quickly running through poses. I find myself leaving class lighter then I entered.

I have attended classes at Moksha off and on since 2014, at each of the 3 locations. My favorite studio is the one off Armitage. The instructors are skilled, and the vibe is calm and welcoming, not a competitive environment. Multi-level classes are offered and during each class options to increase a position are shared, such as a more intense bind, or how to back off, if necessary...the theme of "do what your body is telling you" is ever present at Moksha. Teacher training is an offering. Also, look at their website for work study opportunities.

I absolutely love this studio! Being newer to yoga & having only gone to Core Power, I like the small intimate class sizes, energy of the people who attend & work there. The owner Daren also teaches and really makes you feel welcome. Aimee is another great instructor, both do a good job of explaining poses for the newbies. I’m obsessed w/their restorative yoga classes! I feel so zen & sleep so good afterwards. They offer free classes for the community as well as other workshops & have other locations too. Excited to check out their intro to ayurveda workshop!

A great place to learn traditional styles of yoga. This studio supports beginners and more advanced yogis alike. For the serious student and aspiring teacher, they have 200 hour and 500 hour Yoga teacher training Courses available. Styles range from Astanga, Vinyasa, Forrest yoga and Restorative. Definitely an experience not to be missed when visiting Chicago. Highly recommended!

Belated review, as I went there in summer 2021.

I found Moksha janky and inconsistent.

It's confusing to enter, especially as the front desk isn't always manned. I learned the code to get in through word of mouth.
You just show up for classes, which is not made clear on their website. I am not sure how they keep track of their Groupon members.
My first class was lovely but went over time by about 20 minutes. My friend's first class included teacher training folks, so she found it overly educational and it went over by 40+ minutes.
For my second class, the instructor never showed. I've heard this is a pattern.

I'm all for shoe-string budget, community yoga places, but this place was just poorly run.

Daren gives expert instruction and guides his classes well using a mix of authentic yoga modalities. His creative and complex sequences challenge even the more advanced practitioners - not only with achieving poses, but approaching postures with purpose and intent.

Moksha is an amazing studio! I attended a vinyasa class by Ashley and it was challenging yet relaxing. She even gave hands-on adjustments and an essential oil "massage" in savasana. I like that Moksha teachers incorporate breathwork in addition to physical poses. I highly recommend Moksha if you frequent Chicago.

My experience with Moksha Yoga Center has been transcendent. I am most grateful to have found a studio that teaches the importance of the mind and body connection. My practice has developed an entirely new meaning with the help and guidance of its many insightful instructors. I look forward to continuing my practice at Moksha and developing a greater awareness of self πŸ’«

After taking class at several studios in Chicago and the suburbs, when I found Moksha a new it would remain my home studio. The teachers are compassionate and well-trained, the studio is clean, roomy and beautiful, and I immediately feel the positive energy when I arrive. I love that each teacher has a distinctive style and that Moksha recently added virtual classes! I highly recommend taking class here, especially from the owner Daren who teaches challenging and unique classes!

Many different classes and styles for people with various levels of experience as well as many work shops and events. Amazing teachers and staff! Please check the website and take a class. It will change your life for the better!! Peace and Namaste!

The teachers are knowledgeable and welcoming. The studio itself is grounded in classical yoga and can meet the ability levels of all students, from first-timers to advanced. They offer Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha, and many other styles. This is not a hot yoga studio and does not attempt to be trendy. I came here years ago after visiting many studios looking to practice "real" yoga and understand its roots. I have been going ever since. Daren is the owner and is a great teacher with decades of experience teaching and practicing, and there is no pretension. This is a great yoga studio.

Everyone here is genuinely kind and encourages challenge. No trouble with administration whatsoever. Folks behind the desk have answered all my questions about class details and rates.

I attended a weekend of workshops at this studio a few weeks ago after pre-paying for the event. It has come to my attention that the instructor was NEVER paid for her time and work, and apparently this happens often. I am so disappointed in this studio and the fact that my money did not go to the source intended.

Crazy person handles the email at Moksha. They have 3 locations. Well one day i get an email from them promoting an event. They specified the time and date but not the location. They didn't put an address or an intersection or neighborhood or anything. I pointed out by email that they didnt put their adress in a promo tbey emailed, and he or she said they expected peoples memory to be better than that ! But they have 3 locations ! Seemed very hurt and went on the attack. Obviously this person cant handle a fact being pointed out, and took it as a personal criticism. Then later i got 1 or 2 more emails with snarky remarks.

Also, sometimes the yoga room floors have been dirty and dusty. Noisy yoga studio with the elevated train nearby

I had a membership here and the teachers and classes were great, HOWEVER I’ve cancelled my membership but have been consistently charged for months with little or no attempt from the center to prevent this from happening or reimburse me for the incorrect charges. This place has horrible customer service and not communication throughout the organization.

I full-joy this classical yoga studio which offers a variety of class types. The teachers here are fantastic, and the space has such good energy!

Moksha also has a teacher training program which has spawned many of the excellent teachers you find throughout the Chicago yoga scene.

Moksha's India retreats are top notch, balancing the serene Indian beaches and temples with power purifying practices of yoga and Ayurveda.
