About the Club

Our mission here at Morning Bird is to empower our clients to get stronger, healthier and happier in an inspiring environment. Every session is an opportunity to break down one’s physical and mental boundaries to reach new personal bests confidently among like minds. We are a home base for competitive cyclists, runners, stand-up paddle boarders, dog-walkers and everything in between. Our studio serves as a launch pad towards improving at the things we love to do.

Update to my below post: I realized that I was more reviewing my amazing trainer rather than the studio itself. Because of this, I'm updating my review to better reflect the business rather than a specific employee.

The studio itself is fine. It is very small and difficult to locate, so if you're not careful, it can easily be associated with the coffee shop next door. It's also on a very busy stretch of Lincoln right by the Trader Joes, so parking can be a challenge. The space is clean and pilates reformers are EXCELLENT, some of the best I've ever used. I also love the plants filling all the windows of the studio!

Morning Bird is the definition of a supportive and inclusive training environment. For over two years, I have been learning reform pilates from Nadia. In that time, my physical and mental health have improved exponentially. I can't thank her and the folks at Morning Bird enough for supporting me in my self-improvement journey!

I've been working with Beth Ruder through private and group classes for several years and it has been an absolutely crucial part of my life/self-care! Since we've been working together, I've dealt with a variety of issues (a sprained ankle from missing a step, tendonitis, etc.) and I've never had to stop my Pilates sessions with Beth because she is SO GOOD and is always able to adapt so I get a great workout while protecting what needs protecting.

Beth has a great eye and is able to spot misalignments, if/when you're favoring one side, if you're extra tight/achy due to life stressors, etc., and always has a solution to help bring you back to balance.

She is a lovely individual who respects every body, at every size, and understands that we all have different goals (or none!) Beth's goal is to help us move well as long as we possibly can. Her approach to movement and fitness is refreshing.

I’ve been taking private Pilates sessions with Beth Ruder off and on for years as my schedule allows. Beth has resolved or remediated chronic issues of mine that were otherwise treatment-resistant in physical therapy. She really meets you where your body and mind are at for each session, and is dynamically adjusting the session based on your feedback. She also remembers my long catalog of injuries and body quirks, and is able to work with them by providing modifications that still give me a great workout.

I’ve seen strength gains and improved mobility, but most importantly to me, Beth taught me how to move better so that I am more protected from injury in my other athletic pursuits. I truly believe Beth is a top expert in her field. She’s got a massive amount of technical knowledge about muscles and movement, and she is also an all-around fantastic person. She and the entire MorningBird team have cultivated a welcoming, inclusive environment that I love being a part of. I can’t recommend them enough!

I took private pilates sessions with Nadia Gallo for over a year at Morning Bird Studio but sadly moved out of the area. Nadia is an amazing instructor and turned a newbie like me into a total pilates lover! She tailors sessions to your needs and absolutely doesn't discriminate against those without the typical "pilates body". I used to suffer from chronic back pain and I can happily say after a few months of working with Nadia, it was totally gone! While i havent worked with the other staff at Morning Bird, I can say they are all very friendly and welcoming. I miss just walking my dog by the studio and seeing waves from inside. Could not recommend Morning Bird or Nadia Gallo enough!

Newt and the crew are a force of positivity to be reckoned with! I've been going there for about 10 years now, on and off, and Newt has changed the way I look at fitness. I've gone back to him many times in some pretty sorry shape, but he always makes me feel like there is a path back to fitness, and I always feel incredible! It's hard work but Morning Bird always makes it fun and productive.

Newt is amazing! He is an awesome teacher and coach. The classes are always motivating. This has certainly improved my cycling. I feel much stronger and have less body pain. He always watches for the strengths and needs of his students. Thanks for your work Newt!

Update 9/22/23
Just an update. After training with Newt for a few years now, I just knocked 6 minutes off my bike at the Chicago tri. Also just finished my first century ride in 30 years, pretty much pain-free. No way that happens without the great training at Morning Bird. If you want to get stronger and enjoy cycling longer, this is a great place to be.

Newt has amazing energy, his sessions are challenging and fun. In addition to more hard core training, he includes a great combination of yoga type stretches and body weight conditioning that improves strength and flexibility in a way that is more accessible than anyone I have ever seen.
