Todd Boman is an excellent teacher with 17 years of experience and hours upon hours of study in India, which is evident in the quality of his shala. He is caring, compassionate and mindful, deeply invested in the success of students at all levels. He will have a great impact in advancing your practice at any level you are. Also, the atmosphere is fun and supportive. He is a can’t miss experience.

I have been practicing with Todd Boman for a little over 3 years now and he is an absolutely outstanding Ashtanga yoga teacher. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the practice and at making adjustments. He knows when you need that little extra motivational "push" in your practice, but is also very patient and compassionate. Todd has a great sense of humor too, which makes practicing under his tutelage a delight. The program he has created at Mysore Chicago Yoga is a wonderful and inclusive community of practitioners of all levels that is inviting and warm. I feel extremely fortunate to have Todd as a teacher and to be part of the Mysore Chicago Yoga community!

Todd has been my teacher for three years now and I’m here to tell you that he is THE BEST. What he has taught me goes beyond achieving a nicer asana practice. I have gotten not only physically but mentally, spiritually, and emotionally stronger. The Ashtanga practice has enhanced all aspects of my life, gave me a healthy lifestyle, and made tough times easier. Todd uses his own experience to guide us in our individual and unique journeys while simultaneously teaching in the traditional manner his teacher taught him. Although he is a humble teacher it didn’t take long to notice that he is extremely knowledgeable of yoga and is himself a devoted student. The dedication to his practice and his students is inspiring. If you want to be challenged, learn a lot, and grow positively, just show up and you will find an amazing teacher that holds you accountable and a welcoming community that supports you. Being Todd’s student and practicing with the MCY community/family everyday is a privilege I am immensely grateful for, and so happy to have found.

This is my favorite place to practice yoga in Chicago. I've been to many many yoga studios in and around Chicago, but the super friendly atmosphere here and Todd's expertise are unmatched by any other studio in the area. I like that Todd is not only an outstanding Ashtanga teacher, but also that he continues to grow as an Ashtanga student as well. He is very dedicated to his practice and to his students. The atmosphere here is very friendly and not at all intimidating. I've seen students who are beginners come to practice and students who are very advanced and everything in between. All students are welcomed and encouraged to join the community.

Todd is a wonderful teacher, I've been practicing with Todd for almost 2 years and I've learned so much from him. Not only the physical aspect of yoga but how to be patient with the practice. He cares a lot about his students and is aware if students got problem and he needs to ask students if certain adjustments are ok with the student. Plus, the class atmosphere is great, and the yoga community is very supportive and welcoming.

To me, a good teacher is hard to find. Besides being an expert in their field, I find what it all really boils down to me is personality. That’s where Todd Boman comes in. I love his humor and his no-nonsense approach to Ashtanga, but all the while his love for yoga and for his students shines through. Plus, he really knows what he’s doing. I’m so grateful to have found Todd; if it weren’t for him I wouldn’t have this practice— he has helped keep me going through life events that no doubt would have derailed me with someone else. Now, that is not something you can say about just any teacher. He and my fellow students at Mysore Chicago Yoga hold a very special place in my heart.

There’s a popular quote connected to ashtanga yoga: “practice and all is coming” that rings true for my experience at MysoreChicago, under the auspices of Instructor, Todd Boman, and the wonderful thriving community of students I practice alongside each and every day. Todd is one of the most kind, loving and Real people I’ve ever met. He is dedicated to the practice itself as well the practice of teaching. Todd understands each student’s strengths and weaknesses, he hones in on the little idiosyncrasies of our practice and our personalities. He celebrates the individuality of each student and makes us feel seen, heard and supported. Once I started practicing ashtanga regularly, my life transformed. I moved out of my tiny hovel of an apartment to a high rise condo, I got out of a relationship where I was neglected to a loving new connection, I quit the job that had overworked and underpaid me for years. It seemed like the deeper I explored the practice and the more feedback and encouragement I received from Todd, every sector of my life seemed to Level Up. Thank You Mysore Chicago for inspiring lives.

This is a beautiful studio and a very welcoming environment. Todd is an extremely knowledgeable teacher and passionate about what he does. He is experienced in teaching students at varying levels from beginning to very advanced and addressing individual needs. His verbal cues, adjustments and modifications have been priceless, and have helped me to overcome pain and strengthen my yoga practice to a point that I did not think was possible for me. I really love Todd and this studio. Todd is a teacher that truly cares and that you can really learn from!

I began practicing with Todd about 1.5 years ago after taking an extended break from yoga. I was terrified to walk into the mysore room. Todd couldn't have been more welcoming and supportive and immediately put my fears to rest. Todd is a gifted and passionate teacher who genuinely cares about his students. He has created a wonderful mysore community in Chicago and I am grateful to be a part of it.

I have been practicing with Todd 6 days a week for over 8 years. He is a traditional Ashtanga Teacher but he is also very aware that every body is different and is willing to put in the time and effort to work with each student individually. Todd knows when you need to be pushed, when you need to be supported, he guides his students, and he truly cares. I have practiced with teachers from all over the world and can say Todd is one of the most dedicated, caring and honest teachers in the Ashtanga community.

Today I celebrate 2 years of practicing the Ashtanga method under Todd Bowman’s guidance. I’m almost 50, and I never thought I could do this practice—but under Todd’s guidance, I’ve managed not only to complete the primary series and navigate through several injuries, I’ve finally learned the point isn’t the posture—it’s the practice. I’ve learned more about yoga and grown more as a student and a teacher than I have in most trainings I’ve done—and I’ve done some wonderful trainings. He’s a consummate student, and a smart teacher with excellent adjustments. Todd truly wants to help those who want to grow. And the people who practice with him are pretty amazing, too. So what are you waiting for?

I´ve known Todd for years as he travels regularly to Mysore (India) to study and go deeper into his practice. He is a serious and passionate student and a very gifted and loving teacher... his students adores him for his care, his dedication and his exquisite sense of irony... He knows how to balance the strict aspect of this practice with compassion and fun and he is one of the most authentic persons i know. Don´t go there if you are looking for friendship or easy praise. But if you are looking for a teacher to help you on the difficult path or ashtanga yoga, you´ll find one of the best ones!

I have been practicing with Todd Boman at Mysore Chicago Yoga since February 2018. My practice has never been stronger thanks to Todd's intelligent and thoughtful guidance. Todd offers clear and concise directives, combined with proper physical adjustments, appropriate to the individual practitioner. Mr. Boman also knows how to hold a space very well while preserving the tradition of Ashtanga Yoga. Come see him to experience traditional Ashtanga yoga in the company of good people.

I attended a led class last week while visiting Chicago. The studio is located in a gorgeous 1850s building near downtown and the community was really friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, in my experience, Mr. Boman's teaching style was not. Although he's obviously very knowledgeable, Mr. Boman's 'instruction' to me consisted of snarky, vaguely humiliating criticisms absent a single word of positive feedback (let alone hands-on adjustments) to balance the verbal darts. Perhaps this is typical drop-in treatment (regular students fared better) and was meant to be entertaining; but it felt like mean dressed up as humor and left me wondering more about Mr. Boman's unresolved anger issues than how the class benefited my practice. I've been fortunate to have had many great led & Mysore experiences in cities where I've traveled; this was not one of them.
